Fighting Off Dementors

Draco had already won his first round and collected all the candy from his friends which they used as bet payment, when suddenly he noticed the train slowing.

The world outside had gone darker by the minute, though Draco hadn't thought to look outside until now.

He had heard his parents discuss the hightened security around Hogwarts this year. The ministry had planted hundreds of dementors around the castle, Draco's father had said. But Draco hadn't thought to be seeing one quite so early. And quite so far away from both Azkaban and the castle too.

The others were looking outside too, though the wondow was so fogged from one side and frozen over from the other, that the black figures outside were only somewhat recognizable as dementors.

A small hand made it's way into Draco's. And to the boy's astonishment it wasn't Pansy's, who was cowering behind Vince and Greg, on the opposite side, but Theo's hand.
Draco would've almost smiled at the blond if he hadn't been scared shitless by the possible near death experience he was encountering. Yet again, way too young.

He did squeeze the others hand, however, as a sign of recognition as well as protective.

Draco had become quite protective of his two friends over the last few years. Theo especially. The boy was far to cute not to be protective over. Even at 13, and already as tall as Draco, Theo was still just a boy.

Suddenly there was creaking in the corridor. Doors opening.
However scared Draco felt, he was quite curious as well. Surely the Dementors wouldn't hurt the students they were meant to protect. And Draco was a vampire. There was probably not much of a soul left to suck out of him.

Before Draco had even properly thought this through he was already outside gazing down the long hall.

Suddenly he locked eyes with Potter who had stepped out of his own compartment at the same time.

"Malfoy."

They were staring each other down. Not in an unfriendly way though. Draco wasn't at least.
Far too flashed by the boy infront of him.
Because Potter looked good.

Maybe it was just his thick scent filling the hallway air, but Draco found himself blushing. His fangs popped too though, so probably because of the blood then.

As if on autopilot Draco found himself moving towards Potter, the Chosen One's scent filling his nostrils.
But Draco didn't want to move.

Why was he moving?
Why wasn't he stopping?
Why couldn't he fix his gaze on anything but Potter?

He couldn't even control his body anymore. Part of him didn't want to. But the other part was screaming and crying for Draco to stop. But he couldn't.

Potter needed to run. Right now. Draco didn't want to do this, but he wouldn't be able to stop himself.

Then there was coldness. Icy long fingers pressing into Draco's shoulder, slamming him into a compartment window to his left. There was screams coming from inside. Then there was a dark cloaked form before him looking at Draco sideways. Draco could feel it prepare to attack him, when there was suddenly something stuck in the things throat. Both the Dementor and Draco looked to the side, where Draco's wand stuck in the shadowy form of the dementor.

The wand went right through the dementors body though, so within seconds the dementor was on him again. The moments hesitation had given Draco the opportunity to move though, so enhancing his speed just a little bit Draco ducked out of the monsters grip. Again Draco wasn't in control. It was his intuition moving, ducking from the potential threat only to refokus on his prey.

Potter seemed starstruck, staring at Draco with wide eyes as if in awe.
Why was he still not moving? Had he lost his mind? Draco was literally about to rip the guy appart, there was a soul sucking monster right behind him? In Salazar's name, why?

Then there suddenly was another smell. A really bad one that made Draco want to kill it.

'Expecto Patronum'

Draco was thrown back more then a few feet, landing flat on the back infront of the compartment he had come from. He could see dumb and dumber looking down at him, probably thinking whether he would give them back the food they'd lost, once they arrived at Hogwarts. The Answer? No.

There was blue light everywhere almost blinding Draco. Making his skin burn in agony. Ok. THIS was the worst pain he had ever experienced.

Draco couldn't breath.

There were voices.
Arguing.
A dementor floating by outside the window. Draco had probably hit his head pretty hard, because In his anguished state, it almost looked like the dementor was waving at him. Alright. Draco was going fully ballistic now.

"Malfoy!"

That scent. That sweet bliss...
