Prologue
~2:37 am ~
Monday

I was outside on the balcony sitting on the floor
I leaned my head against the wall and sighed as I closed my eyes wondering how my life led to this, I used to be so happy and never felt alone until that one miserable morning
I remember it like it was yesterday.
When my dad told me he had made a deal with the black family that I would marry their son Sirius Black
I rubbed my eyes hard as I tried to prevent tears from forming
I felt tired and drained all the time… Not like when I was younger
When I had my own friend group
When I was a child without a care in the world
When I were dating Severus
Severus… me and him were dating for 3 years before I had to break up with him because I was marrying Sirius
I will never forget the look of pure sadness and betrayal in his eyes
Or how I ran away before he could say something…
Ran away like a coward
Or how I did my best to avoid him because I couldn't face him after the breakup
I sighed as I brought my knees up to my chest and rested my forehead against them and closed my eyes to try and stop the tears from falling
I felt my throat close up as my eyes stung with tears and felt a few escape my closed eyes
I lifted my head as I heard the balcony door slide open “Aurora?” I heard a low familiar voice whisper
“Hey Sirius, do you need something,” I asked as I lifted my head and wiped my eyes “Why are you up so late” I finally looked at him and saw that he was shirtless with his pajama pants hanging a little low exposing his V-line
“Just couldn't sleep, go back to bed” I say as I look out onto the view from the balcony
I saw him stand there for a few seconds before leaving but not closing the door, I closed my eyes and hugged myself as a cold breeze blew through me and sent a chill down my body
I then felt something heavy drop onto my shoulders, I opened my eyes to see a blanket now covering me “Try not to stay outside too late, ok?” I heard Sirius whisper from beside me and I nodded “ok Sirius, go back to bed you have work in the morning” I said as I looked at him
He gave me a small comforting smile and I tried to give one back, he went back inside and closed the balcony door slowly to prevent it from making noise in fear it would wake up Nova
I yawned as I leaned my head against the wall and wrapped the blanket tighter around me
I was drifting off to sleep till I heard a soft tap on the glass door, I glanced at who was tapping it and saw Nova with her stuffed bear that Sirius got her on her 6th birthday two months ago
I sighed as I got up and opened the door “Hey sweetie, why are you up so late?” I whispered hoping she didn't realize I was crying “I couldn't sleep and I heard you and daddy talking… Can you read me a bedtime story?” she asked as sleep was visible in her voice
I paused for a second before replying “sure, come on you lead the way” I said as I brought my hand out and she grabbed it and led me to her bedroom
Once we reached the bedroom she crawled into her bed as I went to the bookshelf and pulled out the story of the 3 brothers and went and sat at the bean bag beside Nova’s bed
I cracked open the book and started reaching
"There were once three brothers who were traveling
along a lonely, winding road at twilight. In time, the
brothers reached a river, too deep to wade through, and
too dangerous to swim across. However, these brothers
were learned in the magical arts, and so they simply
waved their wands, and made a bridge appear across
the treacherous water….”
After a bit of reading, I heard a soft snore coming from my right and turned my head to see Nova sleeping peacefully and softly smiled as I got up from the beanbag and stretched a bit before properly tucking her in and giving her a kiss on her forehead and turning on her nightlight and closing the door quietly behind me before going back to the master bedroom

I quietly tiptoed into the Bedroom hoping not to wake Sirius as I heard him snoring softly
I slipped under the covers next to Sirius's sleeping form and rested my head on the pillow.
