Chapter 5

Isabella made her way up the spiral staircase leading to the Ravenclaw common room, her heart racing with nervous excitement. She clutched her wand tightly in her hand as she approached the large portrait of a majestic eagle that guarded the entrance.

“Wit beyond measure is man's greatest treasure,” She whispered, repeating the Ravenclaw house motto as she had been instructed to do by the sorting hat.

The portrait swung open to reveal a spacious common room, bathed in the warm glow of flickering candlelight. Books lined the walls, and a cozy fireplace crackled merrily in one corner. There were several large armchairs and sofas scattered about, and students were huddled in small groups, chatting and laughing.

Bella took a deep breath and stepped into the room, feeling a sense of awe wash over her. She had always known that she was a curious person, but never did she think she’d see the day she was sorted into an actual respectable house.

She was greeted with nods and smiles from her fellow classmates, who seemed to be busy with their own activities. Some were hunched over books, while others were scribbling furiously in notebooks, and a group of students were deep in conversation playing a wizarding chess game.

Isabelle honestly felt a bit lost and unsure of how to proceed. She was used to working independently, always being locked up in her room. So many people in one place was honestly kind of overwhelming. She was about to take a seat in an empty armchair, she suddenly heard a voice call out, “Hey, there! You must be new. Come join us!” Bella looked up to see a group of students waving her over. She hesitated for a moment before deciding to take the plunge and join them.

As she made her way across the room, she could feel her pulse quickening with anticipation. Would they accept her? Would they think she was weird or profile her as a pure-blooded snob?

“Hello ladies!” She offered out politely as she took a seat beside the blonde girl who asked her to come over, and a boy with dark brown hair. “I’m isabella!”

“Hi! I’m Barty!” The boy said, offering out his hand, formally. Even if she was a girl, he still wanted her to shake his hand. “And this is Pandora!” the blonde girl smiled, politely.

To her relief, the other students welcomed her warmly, introducing themselves and striking up a conversation about their classes and interests. Isabella was just grateful for the chance to connect with the other first years quickly She was terrified she wouldn’t have made friends as she didn’t care about schoolwork or anything too twot like.

After spending some time chatting and laughing with her new friends, Isabella suddenly realized that it was getting late, and she needed to get to bed.

As she made her way back to her dormitory, she felt a sense of contentment and belonging wash over her. She knew that her time at Hogwarts was just beginning, and she looked forward to all the new experiences and adventures that lay ahead
