James has always been a touchy person. Everyone knows that.
He always has his head on someone's shoulder, or someone's hand in between his.
But with Regulus it's Just Different. He's scared, he's scared he'll over step. One wrong move, one wrong touch and reg is gone.
So he doesn't touch him, doesn't run his hands through Reg's hair the way he's wanted to since they first met,
doesn't grab his hand on their way to class,
doesn't lean down to kiss him when he says good night outside of the dungeon,
doesn’t touch.
And man, Regulus is dying.
Obviously Regulus has picked up on the fact that his boyfriend refuses to touch him.
Obviously he has noticed that James has been leaning on others more often than not.
So he decides he’s going to make the first move.
it's simple really so simple no one would even think twice if it had happened to them.
Everyone is sitting at the Gryffindor table for lunch. It's almost time to get back to class, and James can't walk with him this time.
So Regulus says his goodbyes, kisses James on the forehead, and leaves.
Merlin, he’d kill to go back and see the look on his face, because the sound he hears as he leaves almost makes him turn around.
He sounds so shocked and somehow like he was about to melt.
All from a simple forehead kiss?
In all honesty this was going to give Regulus one hell of an ego boost if he could make him melt from a small kiss.
And James
poor, poor james didnt know what had hit him.
James felt like the sun had exploded on his face.
He knew it was red but he didn’t care
Right now all he could think was that regulus had kissed him

had kissed him
He kissed him????
And that he was 99% sure he’d never wash his face again. who cares if it was impractical.
Regulus had kissed him.
It felt like that brief moment when the stars start shining even though the sun is still up.
It felt magical.
Okay, maybe he’s overreacting just a little but who cares.
From here on out you wouldn’t be able to tell where James started and Regulus ended. They were as attached at the hip as they could be.
James was happy.
How could he not be.
Sure they had to talk about james being scared to touch him, but they worked it out. They always do.
Merlin only knows why James didn’t Just Ask Regulus if he was okay with James being touchy. But its all in the past now.

Sometimes Regulus wonders what would have happened had he never made the move, but now that he has…
James always comes back for more.
