The Fall of ARGUS
The alarms blarred as Waller marched into the surveillance room.
"What the hell is going on!?" Waller didn't know why the alarms were going off......and she hated not knowing things.
"Sorry, Ms. Waller, but we have an unassigned soldiers storming in!"
Waller looked up and saw thousands of soldiers not assigned to ARGUS storm through every door. Waller soon heard a phone ring and saw one of the other surveillance workers picking the phone up.......and going pale.
"I-it's for you, ma'am....." Waller snatched the phone out of the workers hand and she went immediately let the person on the other end know full well how outraged she is.
"This is Amanda Waller, Head of ARGUS and I demand to know who has the audacity for this unsanctioned attack!" Waller knew the government wouldn't get rid of her, she was too valuable!
"I'm afraid this is sanctioned, ma'am," the voice, sounding southern, "this is Captain Nathaniel Adams, codenamed Captain Atom. The League and the rest of the American Government have been given a warrent for your arrest. "
Amanda dropped the phone she was holding, completely shocked that the government she served and produced true results that the League could only wish to produce.
Waller's face turned from shock to pure rage!
"Send out all our forces!" Amanda ordered, "Get our most powerful agents to get rid of Atom and whoever else is with him!"
The agents they were able to get were Major Force, Cinderblock, Volcana, Mirror Master, Cheetah, Doctor Polaris, and Bronze Tiger. They easily dispatched many soldiers till they were face to face with Captain Atom.
"Best to give up, Captain!" Major Force mocked, "Even you don't stand a chance by yourself!"
"Which is why I didn't come alone." Captain Atom admitted, earning curious glances from Atom's comment......until a massive tremor was felt and Big Barda smashed through the wall and foot dived Cinderblock through the floor!
Before Volcana could react, she started suddenly freezing, revealing the Norwegian Cyromancer, Ice and standing next to her is Brazilian Pyromancer, Fire, who formed a ring of flames around Polaris, canceling his magnetic abilities and robbing him of oxygen, knocking him out instantly.
Bronze Tiger fell into a fighting stance, only to notice someone tapping his shoulder, turning and getting a powerful punch to the jaw by the Veteran Hero, Wildcat!
Mirror Master tried to run to a mirror to escape, only for him to be snagged by a beam of light emitting for the Cosmic staff of Stargirl. Cheetah crouched down to pounce......only for her to be sent flying by Black Canary's Canary Cry!
Captain Atom tackled Major Force out of the building. Atom then threw Force across the water, then blasted the corrupt soldier with a massive blast of solar radiation, heat hot enough to turn nearly anything into liquid.
Force was hit full blast, forcing him into the water. Atom hovered in the air.....until Major Force bursted out and tackled Atom across the water. Atom put his fists together and lifted them in the air, dropping his fists hard onto Force's lower back. As Force started losing his grip and falling down, Atom caught his ankle and flew back down to the Belle Reeve prison's courtyard at high speeds and slammed Force into the ground!
"I hope that hurt," Captain Atom says coldly, "you're a disgrace to have ever even considered yourself a patriot!"
Major Force lifts himself up from the crater and glared at Captain Atom.
"Your the one whose the disgrace!" Force retaliated, "You hide behind this image of a No-nonsense soldier who does the right thing. You think I haven't looked you up!? I know you fought in Nam! I know the things you did! I know you worked for ARGUS too! You turned your back on the League and tried to kill Superman."
"I did do things I'llnever be proud of," Atom responded, "I killed in Nam, men, women, children, to fight for my country, forced myself to stomach down those atrocities! Then Iet my loyalty blind me, allowing myself to betray the League, allowing Waller to torture Question, tried to kill Superman because I obeyed orders, but not as a soldier for America, simply another lackey fir Waller! But you! Those missions Waller sent you on, those villages you burned, the families you killed, the monasteries you destroyed, and the war crimes you committed, you didn't do those in service to your country, you did those to satiate your own love of killing!"
"Hehehe," A dark chuckle escaped Major Force, "Maybe so.......but I ain't letting you take me down!"
Atom then felt a rise of radioactive energy and saw Major Force glowing brightly.
"You're insane!" Atom yelled, "You'll kill us all!"
"No, not all," Force struggles to say as his own energy was becoming too much, "We both know you'll survive, but what about your friends?"
Captain Atom's eyes widened in terror that his comrades may die if he does nothing. He quickly rushes to Major Force and grabs his wrists.
"The Hell are you doing?" Major Force asks in surprise......and suddenly feeling like his energy was dying down, "You really think you can contain the energy of your suit and mine? You'll overload and just add to the explosion!"
"Not if I turn the energy from a bomb to something else and transfer it back!" Just as Atom said, Force could feel his power return....but it was less, chaotic than it usually is......
But Captain Atom didn't give Major Force time to understand what was happening when the silver hero headbutted Force with such incredible intensity, it made the crater deeper and bigger, Force falling onto the ground unconscious.
Captain Atom then notices a helicopter taking off, knowing full well it's Waller trying to escape. Faster than the human eye can comprehend, Atom was in front of the helicopter and holding it in place with little to no effort.
He could see Waller's shocked face turn into frustration as she tried to move the helicopter out of Atom's grasp, only to realize the futility of her efforts. Waller sighs as she let's go of the controls, allowing Captain Atom ti genty set the helicopter back to the ground.
The silver hero walks over to the door, and rips it off it's hinges.
"Amanda Waller," Captain Atom announces to her, "by order of the Justice League and the President of the United States, you are hereby placed under arrest!"
Amanda simply gives Captain Atom her usual cold glare before descending from the helicopter to the ground.
"Let's just get this farce over with....." Waller stated as she walked ahead of a confused Captain Atom, who shrugged and easily caught up with Waller.
All agents and employees, including the villains Waller tried using, were all placed under arrest and being excorted into the helicopters and transports with heavy shackles. While the majority of them hung their heads in defeat or shame, Waller walked in with her head held high, not regretting any of her actions or fearing the consequences of them.
"Least one thing to respect about Waller," Wildcat states as he leans against a military truck, "she's pretty fearless."
"Seriously, Ted?" Black Canary asks, "That woman put so many people through Hell!"
"Never said she had anything else worth respecting." Wildcat admitted, "So Atom, a successful mission, wanna go for a celebration beer."
"The offer is appreciated, Ted," Atom responded with a smile, "but I still have to report this to Watchtower."
Wildcat shrugged as he and Black Canary walked, the others joining them......but Ted kept reminding Stargirl she's not at drinking age yet, so she has to order a soda!
Captain Atom smiled as he watched his team depart, then he pressed his finger to his earpiece, letting communications know he's ready to get beamed up.
