Unexpected Reunions
As Waller and the Bride walked down the hallway in silence, Bride could only think if Waller didn't put a bomb in the base of her skull......she'd tear Waller to pieces. Bitch thought she was untouchable, could use people.
Bride lost a lot of teammates cause of Waller. Why Waller kept thinking she could keep talking to her like old friends always escaped the Bride.....and it pissed her off.
"We've been walking for over half an hour, what the fuck do you want from me this time?" Bride had enough of Waller's bullshit.
"We're heading to the Medical Ward." Waller stated, "You could say I have a surprise for you."
"Oh goody, am I to be upgraded like G.I., given radioactive skin like Phophserus, or whatever Weasel is?" Bride sarcastically asked.
"Call it a gift for all your services," Waller stated, "If you rather rot in your cell for the next 500 years, be my guest."
Bride clicked her tongue, this woman was so irrating. When the doors to the medical ward finally opened. Inside was Rick Flagg Sr. waiting for them.
Soon as he saw Bride, he saluted her.....and she actually saluted back. Flagg was one of the few people Bride didn't see as a piece of shit.
"Alright, Waller, Bride and I are here, what's the reason, are we-"
"Bride already made that joke already, and it wasn't any funnier then." Waller interrupted Flagg.
"Fine, what's the reason, Waller?" Flagg asked.
"Follow me." Waller then walked over to the mirror on the far side of the room. Bride walked over till she was next to Flagg.
"She tell you anything as to why we're here?" Bride asked, knowing that Flagg would be more straightforward.
"Guessing as much as she's told you.....and it's been pissing you off too." Flagg answered as the two walked over to the mirror, *sighs* "Alright, Waller, what's the reas......."
Both become silent when Waller turned the lights on and the mirror became a window showing another room......with the only person Bride cared for.
"Nina....." Bride nearly muttered as she pressed her hands to the glass, her eyes full of tears.
Flagg though........pulled his pistol out and aimed at Waller's head.
"The fuck is this shit, Waller!? I saw the reports, I saw the body! What sick game is this!?" Flagg was beyond pissed, he hated being lied to and used. So seeing a beloved comrade in the morgue was one thing, but seeing them on a hospital bed, strapped to machines and tubes! He swears if Waller was using Nina as some sick experiment.....
"Figured you be happy to see a comrade being brought back from the dead...." Waller's speech was interrupted as Bride lifted Waller off the ground by the collar of her shirt.
"How!? I saw her die!! She can't be there, dead is dead!!" Bride couldn't believe it.
"We have mad scientists, necromancers, fallen gods, and other Eldritch monsters. Do you really think we can't bring something as simple as a corpse back from the dead, a little ironic to ask, right?" Waller stayed calm, despite being 5 feet off the ground and being threatened, "She was dead on arrival, that's true, but we assembled the best necromancer, and a team of doctors and scientists. Took them months before she started breathing again."
Bride calmed herself as she set Waller back to the ground.
"Why?" Was all the Bride asked.....
"Her purpose was to keep the team stable. She wasn't supposed to die......a petty.....but her death did motivate you enough to finish your mission, and all the other missions you've been on." Waller exclaimed.
"So what, this is some token of friendship?" Bride asked in an aggressive manner, not wanting Nina to be used like that.
"No, you were able to lead several missions with zero failure, maybe some inconvenient casualties. Moral is still needed for the team, and Nina was always....."
"Don't say her name!" Bride hissed at Waller.
"She's finally stabilized, doctors say she'll wake up at any time. Figured you want to be here when she wakes." Waller finished, not intimated by Bride. Bride turned back to Nina......still as beautiful as she always was, Waller decided continue, "the doctors worked on helping fixing her lungs, they theorize she can now breath without her helmet."
Bride took another look at Nina, before turning to Flagg, who silently understood and nodded.
"Bring the rest of the original team....."
"You are in no position-"
"But I am!" Flagg interrupted Waller, "I've been getting reporters, investigators, news people, Hell, I even got my neighborhood paperboy to gather evidence of your crimes you committed to these people!"
"Evidence? Our people would've gotten rid of any-" Before Waller could finish her retort, Flagg held up a newspaper clipping titled 'local scientist dies by Urban Legend.'
"This was made the day after Nina was taken! I had to get real 'persuasive' with the mortician there." The Bride was surprised Flagg would go so far for just one person, "Kinda funny, how does an Urban Legend kill someone who was fatally shot in the back, when she was clearly in front of him! Hilarious that no one decided to investigate why he ran to her! Your well aware false imprisonment is a crime, Waller?"
"She's a useful asset." Waller said, keeping her composure.
"That brings up another crime. You said that task force x was blacklisted because of their violations of human rights." Flagg exclaimed.
"That's why Task Force M was made." Waller responded.
"Funny, considering half your prisoners would still be considered human!" Flagg yelled, "Phophserus, he doesn't need locked up, he needs psychiatric help, and then there's Nina! She may not look human, but she was born human with a father who wanted to save her! And he was killed for that.....so either get the rest of the team in here and I'll call off the investigation, or we'll see just how a certain 'Dark Knight' says about all the evidence piled up on the hood of his car!"
Waller and Flagg then had an intense staredown.......until Waller relented.
"Call the guards and have them escort the rest of Task Force M in here.......anything else?" Waller asked in an irritated tone.
"I'll let you know later....." Flagg responded. Waller left without another word, giving Bride time to process the reality before her.
"She's alive...."
"Yeah.....seems the case....." Flagg knew that neither he nor Bride had any words to express how they were feeling, but he decided to give Bride a few words of advice, "Guess after you give her time to adjust, you should......ya'know......"
Bride said nothing, but her silence was enough to deny Flagg's accusation, but the soldier was unconvinced.
"There's no way to hide how you feel about her.....the way you looked at her was the same way I looked at my ex-wife....just.....I hope you and her can be happy, Bride....." Flagg said as he backed away so he can give her as much space to process as he's permitted to.
".....thank you...." Bride basically mutters, but Flagg heard her anyway.
"I'm your commanding officer, my job is to look out for the well being of my unit." Flagg exclaimed.
......their tender moment is soon ruined by Weasel bursting through the doors!
