Fay hadn’t expected to find herself taking arms voluntarily ever again.
But how could she do anything less, when her own daughter had sacrificed so much to ensure they had a chance?
The former Lily Potter really hadn’t expected the young bright soul she’d chosen once upon a time to have become this powerful goddess, who drew people to her and had changed in a few years the fate of the whole galaxy.

Multiple time, during their stay in Mortis, she’d been tempted to stop to flee, and finally give in – finally go and meet her daughter again. It hadn’t taken her long, once in the god’s realm, to realize her fears hadn’t warranted, all the love and longing in Shadow’s eyes impossible to miss. But now wasn’t the time, and they both understood it.
Because thought most of the mortals seemed blind to it, this bargain they’d all agreed too was taking its toll on the goddess and her two husbands. And in this place where she was so in tune with her powers, Shadow understood, easily, why her mother was keeping her distance.
Finally, it was but a few hours before they were about to wake up, that they’d finally taken the time to talk.

“You’ve been making me run all around the galaxy.” Arya accused, more amused than frustrated by now
“I have.” Fay agreed sheepishly, “I was infected by nargles.”
Clearly, her daughter must have spent enough time among British wizards to have met some of her old friends – because the answer made her eyebrow raise in surprise, then laugh, before answering, “And everyone knows they make thoughts go fuzzy.”

“Why come so far?” Fay had to ask, waving around them – here, in the depths of the Abyss, and here, in Mortis, giving so much of herself to save them all
“Why search so far?” the green-skinned woman asked back
“Because you were worth it.” she answered, with all the quiet certainty of a mother — suddenly realizing that the bright, born-hero would have never grown as anything else than a savior, that was why she'd chosen her after all
For her infinite empathy, deep wells of love, and unending resilience.
“And so were you.” answered the goddess with a smile and eyes full of love

They felt the souls around them starting to leave the place where they’d learned so much.
“I won’t see you for a while, will I?” Fay sighed, attuned enough to the Force that she could feel Mana’s own worries about the Mirialan’s health
“Godly powers aren’t meant to be used in a mortal body.” Arya agreed
“I won’t run anymore.” she promised quietly, as she felt her soul starting to leave Mortis too, “Let’s meet in the mortal world next time.”
“Let’s.” Arya had agreed, her tiredness now impossible to hide, but her eyes shinning with happiness

Fay had woken up in an entirely different place than where she’d gone to sleep, contrarily to most of the other Dreamers.
Despite how changed it was, it was impossible for the thousand years old Jedi not to recognize where she was.
In the midst of a mausoleum built by her brothers and sisters, to commemorate a bloody and far too long war, yet far too soon forgotten. A thousand years had gone by since, and the galaxy was once more a dark place, deep into yet another war. Time had undone much of the destruction sowed by the Sith’s mind bomb, healing the planet back to the pleasant world of greenery it had once been, the solemn monument, but one of the lasts signs of the Light and Darkness War.

Here, she could hear, as if she’d never left it behind, the familiar call of her heart.
The song of loneliness and resilience turning into something more hopeful as the crystal felt her nearby just as she felt its presence.
She had buried her blade deep in the foundations of the then still in-progress memorial – yet somehow, it easily came to her, as if the ground itself was pushing it out to reunite the two of them.
“Long time no see, old friend. Sorry for abandoning you for so long.” her smile way be watery — it didn't matter, as there was no one to see it
She added in a whisper, voice breaking, “I’m happy to see you’ve healed.”

Settling on a nearby rock, she fell easily into meditation, Mana welcoming her in her embrace as the old weapon came apart with but a thought. Her old crystal had lost all color, she noticed distantly, cleansed by time, of all the pain it had endured.
After all – it hadn’t been a thoughtless gesture for her to leave her weapon behind.
She was tired of fighting – so tired and in pain, her very own crystal had nearly been bled by it. When she’d realized her violet blade was turning red, she had decided to let her partner rest – yet somehow, she had always missed the blade who was, according to Jedi wisdom, her very heart.

It was only when she got back up, the sun having gone low on the horizon and a renewed blade once more at her waist, now holding newer components – and three crystals – that she realized she wasn’t quite as alone as she thought.
She eyed the three creatures with some surprise, easily recognizing them from Mortis.
She smiled at her daughter’s three partners, and asked, “Shall we meet my new heart?”

Her old, now crystal clear crystal, was now framed by two new ones, holding the familiar feeling of Mana’s powers. And when she finally lit the saber, under the three canines’ yips of encouragement, the dark violet color of the new crystals, melding with her first one, gave out a lavender light, so pale it was nearly white, that hummed with power in a way she would have to get used to.
She had realized, when she met younger Jedi here and there, that the newer blades were far more efficient than her old one had been – yet it had still taken her by surprise, when she’d taken hold of her renewed partner for the first time.
This, she understood easily, was the blade of a master.
A blade ready for war, once more.

Pushing her surprise to the side for now, she instead started to leave the Valley of the Jedi, following the hum of the Force toward her next destination, Padfoot, Blanche and Kagetsu following leisurely.
She winced, as she finally found the hangar bay – and the lone starship, that looked to be just as old as her – or maybe even older.
Finding parts and other odds and ends, she started to get down to business.
After all, Ruusan had been forgotten by the rest of the galaxy, the old hyperspace lanes displaced by the nearby nebulae – nobody was going to get her out of here but herself. Or rather she corrected herself, rather bemused, when the Sith dog happily dropped a component at her feet, with the trio of Holy Servant’s help.

It took her some days before she was finally able to but the old ship in working order enough to get access to the holonet, and hear about what was going on in the greater galaxy. She had been saddened, but not really surprised, to hear about the new Galactic War – and the Force had urged her forward once more.
While she worked, she’d taken to speak to the trio, soon realizing they understood her just as well as any sentient being – and for all that she couldn’t understand their huffs and growls, they were able to project impressions and feeling clearly enough in the Force that she could all but hold a full conversation with them. Which meant it hadn't taken her long to realize, when speaking with them - that she had already known one of them…
The memory of James and her asking the brash, loud young man to be their daughter's godfather was faint, but she did remember having her doubts about how seriously - no pun intended - he would take the responsibility. Clearly, she mused — she had been mistaken. And realizing that the man from her life as Lily Potter had somehow found a way, both to stay by her daughter's side, and to keep his memories — had given her the renewed hope. That in time, she could meet again not only Arya — but perhaps, even James.

Finally, after nearly a month, they were done, the old Redshift, that had probably seen fire during the Ruusan campaign, then been retrofitted to be part of the Exploracorp, finally repaired enough to be able to take them off-world.
A few more weeks, and by the time the rest of the Dreamers were finishing up with the Dark Beasts, she was touching down on Jedha – to refuel, and prepare her starship for a long trip – toward the pit of darkness, hidden in the depths of the unknown space, that Mana had been urging her toward.
She all but lost any notion of time, as she let her whole being be guided by her patron goddess, passing by Illum, in the first reaches of the unknown space, then going deeper and deeper, navigating through a maelstrom of primordial forces that no one, bar a very strong Force user, would be able to pass through without a guide.

Finally, in the heart of a cloud of red gas and star dust, hidden under a mantle of unnatural thunder, laid a dead planet, a vergeance Darker than she’d ever met — and worst of all, brimming with the sickening feeling of centuries and millennia of corruption.
She shuddered as her senses told her there were living being on the planet, knowing this kind of malfeasance would have long since eaten away at any kind of common sense they ever had. Suddenly, she understood, why her heart had needed such an upgrade!
On her waist, her lightsaber hummed in anticipation.

She acknowledged her misgivings about once more becoming a warrior rather than a peace-keeper one last time, then pushed them away, letting Mana sooth her fears — and for the first time in a thousand years, let the Jedi Lady, rather than the simple wanderer, come to the forefront.
Around her, Padfoot, Blanche and Kagetsu jumped to the ground, going from puppy to battle-size in the span of a heart-beat, and howling their call for battle.
Across the planet, the countless corrupted creatures wailed back their own attack call in answer, the very air poisonous, so bad was the corruption.
Fay didn't even notice she was faintly glowing, as she called her holy powers into a shroud of purification all around her, all three canines doing much the same, each in their way.

Padmé leaned back tiredly, pushing back a datapad full of reports
It had been a year since the traitorous Sheev Palpatine had replaced the Galactic Republic by a new empire, that he ruled with an iron fist.
Two years since the beginning of the Galactic War.
And since then, she’d been working non-stop. At first, she only wanted to help the newly independent systems to organize, and fight for their freedom. But by the time Palpatine had crowned himself emperor, it had become rather evident that there wouldn’t be any peace to be found in the galaxy so long as the mad man was still in any position of power. Which is why, no matter how much she hadn’t wanted it, she’d let Anakin talk her into accepting – when her people had clamored to keep her as their leader at the end of her term.

Instead, she’d made them hold elections for a new princess-elect, who would be able to focus more on the planetary affairs – while she took care of the greater galaxy.
Not, of course — thankfully! — that she’d become the sole ruler of their new alliance.
No, Padmé was part of a council among which numerous other planetary leaders were too — Bail Organa for Alderaan, Satine for Mandalore, Monkhbat Luk of Tatooine, Jenza of Serenno, and so on…
As time went by, more and more planets and systems had rallied to them – and she’d been stunned when the Mand’alor had pointed out to her that they were all but rebuilding the Galactic Republic.
She’d also been terrified, and had immediately launched new talks among the allied nations.

Because as much as she was a fervent proponent for democratic ideals, she, like all the others, had also been quite disillusioned by the old organization, who’d already demonstrated it was failing even before Palpatine had given it the fatal hit.
She didn’t want their alliance to fall to the same flaws!
Thankfully – the other leaders quite agreed with her – thought most were rather hesitant about how to ensure not to fall into the same failings. It was the Mand’alor, once more, who’d given them the answer, gaining a rather heated look of approval from his Jorad’alor and wife for it. The war leader had reminded them that the Mandalorian may not boast the twenty-five thousand years of history of the Galactic Republic – they still had a good seven millenniums of it. And much of said history, they had spent under the same system of clans, each able to act more or less independently, yet still having a unified leader when needed.

The new Galactic Alliance wouldn’t be completely copying the way of life of the war-like people, naturally – but the idea of ensuring people remained a bit more independent, yet able to work together when needed was one that quite appealed to all of them, given the current circumstances.
After all – it was rather clear that the over-centralization of matters in the Senate, far too heavy bureaucracy, and the interference of corporations in states affairs had all contributed into making the old Republic so easily become the Galactic Empire it was currently calling itself.
She really should have seen coming the fact that the newly created Galactic Alliance would elect her as their first civilian leader – but somehow, she hadn’t.
She’d been more surprised when it wasn’t the Mand’alor, but the Tat’alor who’d been elected as her military counterpart – thought not disappointed by any mean, as Jango’s clone-son was a scarily efficient young man.

She had been far less surprised, given how popular he'd become, when calls had been heard for Anakin to be given the position, thought the young man had quickly reminded people that his place was by the side of the rest of the Force users. While she knew that he was right, she hadn’t been able to regret it a bit. As much as they were still dear friends, and if she was honest with herself, edging on becoming something more – they saw each other in person far too rarely given how busy they both were with their duties to the galaxy.
“Civilian Prime Amidala!”
The young woman startled, getting in a more upright position, then relaxed as she realized it was a familiar figure that had just barged into her office, instead jumping into the newcomer's arms.
“Anakin! What are you doing here?”
“You did ask for some escort toward the summit, didn’t you?” he reminded her with a wink
“I didn’t expect the Great Dreamer himself!”
He rolled his eyes at the title the press had given her, then admitted, “I may have pleaded with old Yaddle to let me come.” a shrug, “Things are calm enough right now that we could afford it.”
Padmé nodded, a bit more serious, “Yes, things have been calm these pasts weeks. Too calm.”

¤.¤.¤

The Je’daii nodded is agreement.
They’d learned the hard way, after all, that silence never was positive when it came to the emperor and his armies.
They spent the next few days catching up, taking advantage of the trip toward Christophsis, with whom they’d had hidden talk, as the planet was looking to getting out of the grip of the empire. The Tat’ade and Je’daii had already gone ahead to get rid of the empire’s occupation troops, and the situation was stabilizing by now.
Not enough that her councilors hadn’t loudly protested when she’d stated her intent to go and negotiate the planet’s entry into the Alliance personally – but while the Nabooian truly did understand, more than her advisors realized, how dangerous it was, she also knew it was necessary. After all – her Alliance was trying to distance itself from the legacy of the fallen Republic, and it also meant she had to lead by the example as their leader.
Even if it sometimes meant rushing ahead in a dangerous situation, to prove their politicians weren’t as removed from people anymore as they used to be.

A week later, Padmé was leaving the crystalline planet, and saying goodbye to her Je’daii protector, her heart already protesting at their new separation.
She stilled, realized that they’d already wasted more than enough time, and turned back, rushing back into the arms of the man she’d known as a young boy.
“Oh, Anakin,” she admitted, “I’ll miss you more than I can say.”
She lost herself in the blue eyes, who were just as filled with love and turmoil as her own.
“I always hate leaving you.” the other admitted, face burrowing in her thick mane
But, she knew – he was as devoted to his duties as she was to her.
“When this war is over.” she whispered, longingly, “Do you think we’ll have more time for ourselves?”
“We’ll make time.” he promised, finally laying a light, lingering kiss on her lips
“We will.” she vowed back

It was only once the beautiful queen was back on her ship, that the Je’daii finally allowed himself to glare at Rex and Regina Fett – the twin clones who led the commando he was most often partnered with, whose eyes were shinning with mirth.
“It was about time!” he heard a younger voice guffaw, making turn his glare toward his padawan
Finally, rolling his eyes, he sent a rude gesture toward the annoying warriors he’d become best friends with, and they boarded the Unfettered Mooka, toward the next battlefield.
Days and weeks went by, then suddenly, the Force was whispering urgently in his ear.
The Tat’ade were more than used by now, to the ways the Je’daii could be led by the Force by now. So when he suddenly took the commands in the pilot post, and headed toward the middle of nowhere, none of them were really surprised, only reminding him to warn the Alliance that he was making a Force-related detour.

They were nearing the unknown space – when suddenly, a float appeared, visibly jumping out of outer space, its design utterly alien. The Mandalorian would have been worried — if their two Je'daii weren't so calm. And indeed, a few moments later, they were hailed by the larger of the spaceship.
“Little Ani!”
“Master Fay. New friends?”
“These are the Iokathan,” the wandering Jedi answered, “They have some old debt to settle with Arya, so they volunteered to help us in the war.” a smile, “We’ll open a hangar bay, why don’t you come aboard?”
“With pleasure. I hope you have better food onboard than us!”
“About that…”

¤.¤.¤

Neither Anakin, his padawan nor the rest of the tat commando had expected to be among the very few biological being among the large float – though of course, Fay had quickly explained about the Iokathan.
They were a population of sentient droids, most of whom had been liberated thanks, in party to the old Alliance, over three thousand years ago, led by Arya – or rather, by Dasha Ellan. Back then, of course, they hadn’t been quite as aware – apart from their leader, SCORPIO. And at the time, SCORPIO, though she had been truly aware for quite a while, still had no grasp on the emotions that came with being sentient, her whole being devoted only toward self-preservation, and the gathering of knowledge.
But then, the droid had realized that the captain of the enemy float they were fighting against, were quite similar to her – and for the first time, had a reaction that wasn’t free from emotions, when she decided to free the sisters she hadn’t even known she had.
Back then, as a war leader, Arya’s first reaction had been annoyance at SCORPIO’s attempt to manipulate her and use the Alliance for her benefit. Even annoyed as she was, the woman had decided to help her, rather than stop her attempt. Despite the voices clamoring for the control of the Infinite Armada and its droids, she held fast, and true to her word, helped SCORPIO free the GEMINI droids, and hadn't tried to force them to fight in the ongoing war.

They’d left the war against Zakuul after that, thought, not before Arya had one last talk with SCORPIO. At that time, the droid hadn’t been quite receptive, still quite dubious about the Force and its powers. She’d been proven wrong on Iokath, their lost home world – and hadn’t it been for the warning she’d been given, the droids would have certainly been destroyed by the fail-safes left behind by their long-gone creators. Instead, they’d been able to free the planet’s droid warden, ARIES – then fight back against the death-dealing thinking machines calling themselves the Six Gods.
They had lost quite a few among their numbers.
But thanks to the warning, the Iokathan had endured, more and more among them coming to true awareness along the way.
“By the time we were aware enough to know we ought to be thankful…” the golden droid mused, “The Eternal Alliance had long since fallen, and Dasha Ellan disappeared.”
Anakin and Ahsoka could feel just as clearly as Fay the regret’s in the being’s feelings. But even the Tat’ade could hear it in her synthetic voice.

“Then…” there was a bit of wonder and amusement in the golden droid’s voice now, “Something happened among our newest droids…”
“The Force happened.” Anakin guessed a second before she told it as finally, he realized what he’d been feeling for a while
The fact that beyond Fay, Ahsoka and him…
There were others Force users aboard.
“The Force happened.” SCORPIO agreed, not quite managing to hide both her wonder and dismay
Which wasn’t too surprising – not matter that they now had feelings, droids still were more logical beings than most biological beings were, so something that esoteric was rather difficult to comprehend and accept for them. Even quite a few biological species had problems admitting the influence the Force had on the galaxy, after all!

Among those budding Force users, LIBRA had been the one gifted with visions.
The one to foretell the return of war and chaos again and again in the galaxy.
And in time, the return of the Outlander, and with her, a war that would change the Fate of the galaxy.
So SCORPIO had decided that when the time came – they would be ready.
After all, they had a debt to repay to the woman who’d given them the freedom and respect sentient beings deserved when they were barely such…

¤.¤.¤

Which is why, when they felt Fay’s incursion in the unknown reaches, they were ready.
Of course, they hadn’t quite expected the woman to be seeking death.
“We couldn’t stop her before she landed on the cursed planet.” explained LIBRA, the first Force user of the Iokathans not quite able to hide her dismay at that, “And despite the Force’s reassurances, it was quite difficult to believe that a lone woman, and three canines,” at that she nodded toward Padfoot, Blanche and Kagetsu, neither of which Anakin had expected to see here, “could survive this wretched place.”
“There we no Dreamers among the Iokathans,” explained Fay demurely, “so naturally they weren’t equipped to fight against corruption, especially not on a scale like it was on Exegol.”

Exegol.
The name, Anakin mused, was faintly familiar.
Finally, his memory came through, and he did a double take.
“Isn’t that planet renowned as a mythical Sith Holy ground?”
“It was.” master Fay agreed, not hiding a shudder this time, “And there were still some ancient spirits trapped there, having long since gone mad, and a hidden sect of corrupted Dark Side users.” she gave a smile to the three canines who where lazying not too far away, “Alone, I would have never managed it.”
“Padfoot, Blanche and Kagetsu are good allies to have.” Anakin agreed easily – given that Arya was his masters’ wife, he knew better than most just how fearsome the trio could be once they got going

The trio had spent months on the dead world, pushing back little by little the creatures, delving deeper and deeper along the excavation the ancient Sith had done, toward the heart of the planet, and it's potent Dark Side vergeance. A vergeance that had been overcome with corruption over time, affecting all living beings on the planet, and sticking them between life and death, their pain, rage, and despair feeding even more the corruption — all of it, the result of some very old, very distorted Sith ritual.
In the end, Padfoot, Blanche and Kagetsu had all fought against hordes of undead beings, while Fay used her newly learned purification abilities to purge the vergeance of corruption.
She'd nearly killed herself in the endeavor, and had been at the end of her strength when the Iokathans had found them, thanks to the raging storms who made the planet's atmosphere so unstable and difficult to navigate finally calming somewhat, once the corruption had been purged.
It had taken months for the woman to be healed, and months more, for the Iokathan float to leave the deep confines of space where they lived, back toward the rest of the galaxy.

¤.¤.¤

Padmé had been stuck between elation, at seeing Anakin barely a few weeks after their last meeting – and fury at the sheer workload he’d just dropped on her laps.
And elation once more because the Iokathans were proposing an alliance, when the new Alliance clearly stood to gain more from it than they did, given that the sentient droid had been living peacefully, far out of reach of the war.
The fact that they’d come only thanks to the fact that they were long-lost allies of the Green Moon House, or rather, its founder, somehow hadn’t surprised her that much, she was far less naive than she’d been as a newly elected queen, and knew far more about the dubiously legal organization that had grown so much over the years…

The Eternal Fleet had quickly been dispatched all around the galaxy, a mere one ship doing wonder in any battle – even more once paired with the Tat’ade.
It was once out of a fight, though, that the sentient droids proved that they weren't merely very intelligent machines. With their child-like wonder and curiosity about the multitude of worlds they hadn’t seen before, it was both impossible to deny that they really were sentient beings – and eager to know the wider galaxy, after so long stuck in the unknown reaches. Their enchantment when learning about the different civilizations and their cultures, about ancient history just like recent events, was rather endearing, just as their love of art, which really did prove they weren't mere machines.
Interestingly enough, they’d also been a trove of information about old history, since their leader and quite a few of them had literally lived it – and while most Jedi and Je’daii already knew about Arya and Arkous’ past, the rest of the galaxy hadn’t known about it.

Needless to say, the people who hadn't known about the couple's history had been just fascinated as the Jedi themselves had been when the couple had woken up, a couple of decades ago.
And Anakin, when asked about it, had been rather enthusiastic about sharing just how great some of his favorite people were.
“They’ll make you pay when they wake up.”
“Katliak!”
The tall Wookie hugged her brother-padawan, then reiterated, “Do you really think they’ll enjoy their fame?”
“They should have been awake if they didn’t want people to talk about how great they were.” Anakin pouted, “Beside, most Force users already knew about it!”
“The Force users and the Dreamers, yeah.” the Wookie agreed, “But civilians?” she laughed, “Master was a spy, can you imagine how she’ll react when she hears there’s been a holofilm about her youth?”
“Yeah. It was pretty good too!” Ahsoka chimed it, “Don’t you think?”
“It was good.” Katliak finally agreed, feeling faintly embarrassed in the Force, “It was about time people realize how great she is.” then she eyed her Force-sibling once more, “And those rumors about Obi Wan?”
“I’m not the one to blame for this!” he honestly answered, surprising her, “He left a holocron.” he reminded her, “And apparently, it has made the rounds around the Tat’ade. Jedi General Kenobi has all but become part of their lore and legends now...”

Ahsoka nodded enthusiastically, “That holofilm too was great! Besides, heroes give hope to the people!”
Katliak couldn't help but agree once more, as she had to admit that just like Anakin was enduring his new fame stoically, the romanticized stories who'd been made of their three masters did also contribute to the Alliance moral.
In the middle of war, everybody had to be reminded about things like love and resilience.
“The stories are good,” she said, “but they won't be happy about it. Think about master's shadow work!”
Anakin winced about that, then reminded her, “Her cover as Dasha Ellan was as good as gone when SCORPIO and the Iokathan entered the Alliance.”
The Wookie winced, but nodded, and sighed, “Ah well, at least she had already all but retired from the Green Moon House.”
“I asked mom,” Anakin laughed, “the fact that they'd taken over from THE Dasha Ellan apparently gave a real boost to the House... On both sides of legality!”

“With how less rigid than the Jedi Je'daii are, most people weren't even surprised to realize who she was.” Ahsoka laughed, before pouting – the expression quite effective on her nine-year-old face, “Still, they really should hurry to wake up. I want to meet them!”
“And we want to see them again.” Anakin answered with a sigh, patting her montrals lightly, “But they’ve given so much to help train us, we can’t begrudge them a bit of rest, eh little light?”
“I know.” the little girl agreed reluctantly
Truth be told – Anakin, just like the rest of the trio’s former padawans and friends, was missing Arya, Arkous and Obi Wan acutely. But just like he’d told his padawan – he knew, better than most, just how much the three of them had done for their galaxy. So while he missed them, he’d also do all he could – to finish the war, and ensure that when the trio woke up, it was in a galaxy at peace.

Which is why, when Kote proposed his outrageous plan, he agreed.
The war had been ongoing for two years by now, and with the Eternal Fleet, the situation had finally taken a turn for the better for the Alliance, as the arrival of the long forgotten armada hadn't been a part of any of the Banite Sith's plans, and he hadn't had any countermeasures ready to fight back against the sentient droid.
Now, with the Iokathan mothership, the Gravestone, the Alliance was about to take the fight to the heart of the empire.

The most surprising, Anakin reflected later, while he was stealing a few minutes cuddling with the woman he loved, was that Padmé herself wasn’t protesting their mad plan.
“None of you Force users have said anything,” mused the young woman as if hearing his thoughts – which given the faint Force affinity she had, which hadn’t been enough to make her a Jedi, but still did give her powerful instincts, may well be the case, “But many of us have realized, you know…” a sigh, “The way he talks about Dark and Light… a shrug,” No non-Force user talks like that, you know? And Banite Sith or not, he’s dangerous enough that we can’t have peace as long as he’s alive.”
“So wise.” mused the Je’daii with some awe, tightening his embrace around her slender silhouette of the woman he’d always loved, making her laugh at the unexpected compliment, before peppering his face with feather-light kisses

¤.¤.¤

Once the plan was made, things went very quickly.
Halfway through the year 7949 CRC, the Chosen One was spearheading the assault float – who’d managed, thanks to the Iokathans’ technological know-how, to reach directly toward the heart of the empire.
For the first time in over a thousand of years, an enemy armada had managed to make its way into the skies of Coruscant.
On the ground, a multitude of warriors – Mandalorians, soldiers of all parts of the Alliance, Force users from all sects, and even, smugglers running rings around regular troops.
All around the galaxy — the rest of their forces were launching simultaneous assault against the empire forces.
The Alliance had decided that it was time to end the war – on their terms.
The young Chosen One hadn’t even tried to hide himself, letting his aura spread around himself, all but calling out the emperor with his brazen attitude, as his padawan-siblings and him broadly charged toward the new imperial palace – the former Jedi temple.

The Je’daii was furious, as he realized the Dark Siders sent around them were younger and younger. The feeling of fear/pain/terror more and more pregnant as they came nearer to the ancient house of the Jedi.
Even if he’d been born a Je’daii, and had rarely stepped foot in the temple, this still felt like an unforgivable act. Little Ahsoka, whom he hadn’t managed to convince to stay behind, was perhaps even more incensed, which he could understand all too well, given how beloved she was by the Light Side.
By the third day, Anakin was stepping inside the former Jedi temple for the first time in years – and by his side, numerous people, all of whom’s lives had been touched by Arya, Arkous and Obi Wan’s influence.

Anakin felt as the whole galaxy held its breath.
As Fate sang loudly in his ears.
As Mana urged him forward.
As finally, he faced what he knew would be his greatest challenge.
At first, the emperor had tried to play the old, benevolent man – had tried to ensnare him with words and subtle Force manipulations. But once the man had realized it wasn’t working, he’d finally shown his true face, moving with an unnatural swiftness. The ceremonial looking dress the emperor was wearing had quickly revealed a Force-enhanced outfit underneath, just as richly decorated as those the Sith of old wore. Red blade in hand and eyes going for light blue to the fiery golden red of those who'd dipped deep into the Dark Side, and gotten dominated by it, the old man's identity was now clear to see by all.

The fight had been fast-paced and Sidious had more than proved that despite how much he despised him, he’d been quite an attentive student of Plagueis.
A master politician he may be – Sidious was just as adept with the Force, and with a blade, blending all the lightsaber fighting forms into one deadly melting-pot, using the Force just as well – or perhaps even more fearsomely.
The young Chosen One was all but lost in the Force, not quite knowing anymore which were his own instincts moving him, which was his godly mother nudging him, urging him, warning him…
This was a fight he’d been preparing himself for all his life, though he hadn’t really realized it as a child.

And while move by move, he tried to push back the Banite Sith, he finally understood the strange feeling he’d felt all his life; his skill growing more by the second, as the hidden, silenced memories he’d only brushed until now, and that were coming back more and more to the front as he fought.
He’d seen Obi Wan’s holocron years ago – but now, it was through his own eyes that he was seeing the future that wasn't.
These were his own memories – or rather, the memories of the Anakin who’d sent Obi Wan back, to change it all. Memories neither of them had ever expected to resurface — but he was so much more attuned with his godly mother's powers that it had become all but inevitable.

The fluctuating emotions were making him more volatile, he realized. The other Anakin, no matter how much he repented, had never learned to accept and master his emotions like he had after all. And Sidious too had noticed his lapse of control, and the Sith didn't waste the opening.
The Chosen One screamed, as he lost him arm once more.
But the pain, paradoxically, had finally centered him again.

¤.¤.¤

And now, old and new memories were finally merged, both old and young Chosen One united in their will to defeat their enemy, now knowing better than any other the kind of monster he was facing – the kind of destruction the other man could rain on the galaxy.
Pushing the pain away, he called his yellow blade to his left hand. Clearly, Sidious hadn’t expected to see him just as dexterous with his off-hand as his main one – but Anakin masters’ had been harsh trainers, and he was quite thankful for it right now, as even with the memories of two lives, he still had to put his all in the fight, so skilled the Banite Sith was.
It was also startling — to realize just how different Arkous' training, inherited from the red Sith, had been from Sidious — and Anakin held no second thoughts about which he'd preferred as a teacher! Years with Arkous had been much more productive than decades spent as the slave of the Banite Sith, and he understood even better now, why the man, like all the other red Siths, all always looked so put out at the fact that some people didn't know the difference between them.

Little by little, he started to push back and took the upper hand back, Light and Dark Side working in harmony around him.

Sidious was doing all he could, to turn the tide again, be it with brute force, or with silver-tongued words. But honeyed words were not enough – not against the Chosen One who’d taken the best of his old incarnation memories, and of his current life. And even the Force, no matter how skilled and powerful he was, wasn't enough anymore, not when, unlike Anakin, he worked against it, rather than with it.
Finally realizing he was losing, the master manipulator tried to appeal to his pity.
Not, of course, that Anakin fell for it – remembering all too well another fight, but the same falsely pitiful old man. Instead, he taunted the man right back – not surprised at all when in retaliation, a new horde of powerful Sith creatures were unleashed against him and the people fighting against him.

The Chosen One would only realize far later – that his fight had lasted nearly three days and night non-stop, and been transmitted in real-time on the holonet all along.
All he knew, when he finally drove his yellow blade in the last Banite Sith’s chest, and felt the man’s soul leave his body, was that he’d finally done it this time.
Still, even dead, Sidious was still trying to hold to the mortal realm – but Chirrut had been ready, Baze covering him while his fellow Dreamer called upon his ties with Shadow, and forcefully cleansed the soul, erasing his memories and sending him back to the reincarnation cycle.
Knowing they’d ensured there would be no untimely come back from the last Banite Sith this time, Anakin finally let his exhaustion catch up with him.

Darkness curled around him, and for a long time, he felt nothing.
By the time he woke up, over a week had gone by, and the empire had fallen.
Just like him, Chirrut had been exhausted, as messing with a soul wasn't easy for a mortal — even one blessed by Shadow.
There had been other casualties among them, thought fat less than in the other camp.
The next weeks were spent starting to clean up, and organizing a memorial. In time, a new statue would be erected, on the main plaza of the old Jedi temple, but for now, there had simply been rows of pyres, and a litany of names.

Naturally, it didn’t mean that things were instantly all better for the galaxy – there were still rogue troops roaming around the galaxy, keeping the Alliance’s forces busy, and the work, for the politicians, was only starting.
A peace treaty was being written, between the remnants of the old Galactic Senate and the new Alliance Council, and once more, the ancient institution was proving just how slow and ineffective it was.
Thankfully, with the Alliance in a position of force thanks to their victory on the capital of the very centralized empire – they could afford to dictate quite a few things to make things move along faster.
The end goal, for the Alliance, was to make the fallen empire recognize they had no authority on them, as they were already trying to reform the old Republic, which none among them had any intention of rejoining.
They also would make the reforming Senate let their systems decide individually whether they wanted to rejoin them, go their own way, or even petition for a place in the Alliance.
And naturally, there were also war penalties and compensations to be negotiated.
It would take some time to take shape – but by the end of it, the galaxy would be an entirely different place.

Which is why Anakin had been surprised when the Force had once more started to whisper urgently in his ears, barely a few months after he’d left Coruscant.
Trusting the goddess who'd helped ensure his birth, he'd turned the Unfettered Mooka around, following the feeling that was urging him toward a familiar ancient starship that wasn't quite in the mortal realm.
By the time he’d arrived near Mortis, he wasn’t the only starship around, far from it.
Some, like the Ember, the BlazingMooka, or Katliak aboard her own ClawedMooka, he’d expect. Others, like the Gravestone or an old Jedi praexum, had been far less expected.
The Force was singing powerfully around Mortis – so powerfully it was starting to affect even the non-Force-sensitive aboard the disparate armada of starships.
With a last surge of power, a lone starship appeared, slowly leaving Mortis – and all the people present were taken into the same vision.

A vision of a trio of gods, talking about how the galaxy was all but doomed — and of two of them accepting to try to turn the tide, even thought it wasn't why they'd come.
Then, flashes of the galaxy, going through upheavals, and the unmistakable feeling, for all Force users, of the balance, ever so slowly shifting.
The next vision was from a different perspective, and utterly alien, as they realized they were seeing their galaxy in a way no mortal should — from the outside, deep in the darkness their inability to gain a semblance of balance had stuck them in.
How, even though they'd finally started to heal the place they were living in, there was still another enemy trying to destroy them — one even the goddess who presided on the Force could do nothing about…

¤.¤.¤

Arkous and Obi Wan had awakened first, weakened, but in-tune enough with their powers to know that the war they’d been preparing for had started while they slept.
While they were awake, they were by no mean in any state to help with the war effort, no matter how frustrating it was to stay out of this war, when they had so many memories of it in another lifetime.
They only realized just how weakened they were when they finally started to feel the bigger threat of the galaxy – one only they could take care of – weeks after having awakened.
Neither needed to be told, to realize that this was something they couldn’t do as mortals.
“Rest and heal first.” the Father had told them soothingly, “Then, we’ll talk.”

And so they did, waiting for Arya to wake up, all the while keeping an eye on the situation in the galaxy, thanks to the Father, who could call visions of what was happening from his tower.
There was pride, and melancholy, as they watched the little Chosen One they'd raised finally manage his Fate – both feeling and seeing how along the way, he’d gained back old memories.
Like all the gods, they felt the defeat of Darth Sidious, all but changing the whole Fate of the galaxy, the place firmly going from Abyss to Edge World.
With how things had changed – their galaxy should already have all but taken itself out of the Purgatory, if not for the Abyss creature attacking it from the outside, who’d also prevented their gods from reaching toward the Purgatory doors, instead forcing them to focus on keeping it at bay.

This was when Arya had woken up.
While even more diminished than they had been, their fellow First Circle goddess was also much more in tune with her powers when in a mortal form. As such, it hadn’t taken her as long to notice what they had – and to realize what the only solution was.
“Ah well,” she had sighed, emotions clearly in turmoil, yet already starting to accept what was needed in a way that awed them both, as once more, she proved that no matter that she was much younger than them as a First Circle deity, she had grown to understand and accept the duties that came as such far quicker than they had — and that, despite the harshness of Death and Chaos' powers, “Our work in this world is done anyway, isn’t it?”
“What about your mother?” while Arkous and Obi Wan had been wondering the same, it was the Daughter who’d asked the question
Arya smiled, her hand going to the necklace Magic had gifted her a long time ago – and at once, they realized the pendant’s aura had changed, now swirling with Death magic.

“I would have liked to get to know her among the mortals.” Arya admitted, “But I’ve already ensured that as long as we're both in the Purgatory, her soul will come back to me, instead of being reincarnated automatically.” she explained, adding with a smile, “And once this galaxy finds its way back out of the Purgatory, brother with take care of everything.”
“Enough somber talk.” the Son had been the one to remonstrate the trio – the way the Dark Sider was acting like a mother-hen making all of them rather amused, with how startling the change was from the nearly mad half-ascended godling he’d been, “You have some time yet. We aren't so weak that we can't allow you some time to heal.”
The three of them had relented, knowing the other was right. They remembered after all, just how exhausting and dangerous their travel thought the Purgatory had been…
Thought of course, things should be easier this time around – no matter the Abyss creature’s efforts, their reality marble was still far closer to the Purgatory doors than the depths of the Abyss than it had been. Not to mention, naturally, the fact that War wasn’t powerless anymore.

While healing, the trio had started to prepare for their departure. It wasn’t the first time Arya knew her mortal life was coming to an end, and it was no less frustrating than it had been before, the few decades she’d spent roaming the galaxy far too few in her mind.
She would have loved seeing how the world was changing, now that they’d turned the tide.
Would have enjoyed getting to know her mother, now that the other woman had finally stopped running from her.
Seeing all her padawan grow, and take padawan of their own, just like Saarai already had.
See how the Force users changed, in a galaxy that finally accepted them for what they were, once peace had been brought back. With Je'daii, Jedi and red Sith cohabitating, along with countless other Force sects…
Travelling around, to meet again all the planet bound deities and so on…
There were countless things to do still in this galaxy!

But while defeating the Abyss creature was more a job for Arkous and Obi Wan than her, her own godly powers as the sister of Chaos were also going haywire because of the creature. Because all her instincts were telling her that this galaxy didn’t have its place in the Purgatory anymore – and it wasn’t from a mortal body that she could ensure that it went back to its rightful place.
She came here for her mother — and by leaving behind her powers' mark on the woman's soul, she'd all but ensure her mission was complete. Lily Potter's soul would be free from the Purgatory — whether it was thanks to the whole galaxy rejoining the rest of the Mortal Realms, or thanks to her own powers ensuring her soul would come to her, should she die before that happened.  But while she was leaving — this galaxy could still use Fay's unique brand of chaos, and she didn't doubt the other woman felt it just as much as she did — she was quite attuned to the Force after all. And Arya had no wish for her mother's life to come to a premature end — no intention to simply wrench her soul out of this world when it wasn't needed, not when she'd already ensured the woman's wouldn't lose herself in death.

Finally, three months after Arya woke up, the trio knew they were ready.

They’d left some holo-recordings messages, and even made their own vitalicron, which they put on the SandwalkingMooka, that had been waiting for them to leave Mortis. They didn’t doubt that, the Force helping, the empty starship would be found by their friends and family.
From Mortis, that was already halfway between the mortal world, and the outer layer of the reality marble – and beyond – it was as easily as breathing for Arya to take Arkous and Obi Wna’s hands, and let go.
The silhouette of Shadow, War and Animus grew see-through, and disappeared, leaving nothing behind.

When they reopened their eyes, they were back in the Purgatory, near the reality marble they’d spent the last few decades and millennia living, facing the gigantic Abyssal creature they’d fled from once upon a time.
The three lovers shared a glance, and without a word, Shadow turned her attention back toward the reality marble, unleashing her Revolutionary Art, who curled around the galaxy like a shield of golden power, urging it forward – toward the Purgatory’s doors.
The Abyss creature’s reaction was instantaneous – but it wasn't given the time to attack her, as War and Animus had already rushed toward it, free to fully use their godly powers for the first time in an eternity, and all the more terrifyingly alluring for it.

¤.¤.¤

Still deep into the Force visions Mana had called them for, the mortals saw the moment the trio shed their veneer of mortality – and appeared beyond the borders of their world.
Understood that once more, they had chosen to help them.
And that there was no coming back from this for the trio.
Arya, Arkous and Obi Wan, they all realized, had been ready to leave discreetly, without even letting them know about this last sacrifice they were making for them.

A small hand slipped into Anakin’s own, and her realized that his little padawan was crying – just like he was, and countless others.
Anakin had been the one to take the SandwalkingMooka toward Tython, where most of them had naturally gravitated.
There had been laughter, and tears, as they listened to the messages Arya, Arkous and Obi Wan had left behind for all their friends and family.
The rest of the galaxy, thought they hadn’t witnessed it, knew that something had happened – many, even those who weren’t Force-sensitive, could feel as if the world had become a better place, thought most put it on the ending of the war.

The loss of the trio had been keenly felt by the Force users – even Mace Windu admitting, during the memorial that was held some months later, that he would miss the three mischief-makers.
But despite the feeling of loss so many felt, the galaxy didn’t stop.
Negotiations were finally concluded, a new Galactic Republic, far diminished, learning to cohabit side by side with a flourishing Galactic Alliance.
The Trade Federation had been all but dismantled, having been imposed harsh sanctions for their part in the war.
The last of the Inquisitors had been caught and sent for either healing on Ossus or Tython, or imprisonment on Bogan.
And finally, peace and balance had been brought back to the galaxy – Anakin being belatedly granted the title of Je’daii master, the order deeming his training as a Dreamer and defeat of Darth Sidious as his Journey Beyond.

Before he knew it, Anakin was knighting a fiffifteen-year-old Ahsoka, who, truth be told, had been ready for quite a while.
A few months later, he was finally marrying Padmé, who’d retired from her position as Civilian Prime, to start instead a new career as a traveling diplomat for the Galactic Alliance.
Decades later, and newly widowed, he was taking over master Yaddle’s position as a master of the Je’daii Order.
By the time Fay passed away in her sleep, he’d become the older Force user still out in the galaxy, Saarai having long since gone back to the heart of Korriban, and her godly father, to relieve her mortal parents from their burden. Though she hadn’t gone alone – even if Anakin really hadn’t expected her to settle with Obi Wan’s old friend Quinlan Vos of all people.

In time, it were his twin children, both aging nearly as slowly as he did, who went to Korriban – and came back with the couple’s children as padawan.
The galaxy was ever-changing, conflicts arising and resolves as history was made – the Mandalorians crusade against the Hutts had been one such war he really hadn’t minded being a part of. The Force users never let themselves be forgotten or misused by the rest of the galaxy. But never, to the demigod’s senses, did it feel as such a dire and dangerous place as it did when he was young. This, he knew like only a child born from Mana could – was because they had long since left the Abyss and the Purgatory behind…

¤.¤.¤

The Green Moon House and the Amavikkan, paradoxically, hadn't been that surprised by the way the three had left their galaxy behind — and in time, new legends had been added to their lore, speaking about the walker of the shadow path, and the war-like being who had been a slaver and a slave, and how they'd left to destroy a great enemy.
It had been Ahsoka, once knighted, who came back to the organization, taking over from Shmi and Xanathos Skywalker in time, and scheming with the newest Mand'alor their new crusade against the Hutts. She'd dragged her twin padawan along, Leia just as gleeful as her about the darker side of the organization, and ready to get rid of any and all slavers by force if needed be, Luke far tamer, and more eager to learn about the charity work of their House.
Though she did gain the rank of master Je'daii in time, it was in the Green Moon House that Ahsoka made her life, taking several more padawan along the years among the freed slaves and other Amavikkans.

Chirrut and Baze too, had spent most of their life among the Green Moon House — then, after raising a few padawan, it was to Jedha they had gone back, among the Guardians of the Whills. The community was far different from during their childhood, having grown anew thanks to the renewal of all the Force users sects.

Katliak had spent much time going around the galaxy, finding and awakening anew quite a few Neti, helping the specie of the Old Tree grow once more in the galaxy. She also spent quite a bit of her time spreading the Dreamer training of her master, having a particular knack for finding the newly blessed holy servants. It was on Anakin's advice, that she finally started the official Dreamers order, quite a few of the original Dreamers helping along the way.

Fay had felt staggering grief, as she realized that after years of playing cats and mouse, she wouldn’t be meeting her daughter in this life.
She had been all but ready to give up, in that instant – probably would have, if not for the message Arya had left behind.
And the two partners.
Because while Kagetsu had disappeared as Arya left the galaxy, Padfoot and Blanche were still there, the duo having apparently chosen to stay.
To ensure her mortal soul found its way back out of the Purgatory and to Death’s Island in time – and to help her spread chaos around, according to the goddess.
Fay wasn’t stupid – she knew it was also – mainly – not to leave her alone.

So, with the tuk’ata and loth-wolf by her side, she stayed on Tython for a while, going through the Great Journey and becoming acknowledged as a Je’daii in a mere few months, starting to heal along the way. She had been immediately given the title of master too, Yaddle pointing out with some mirth that the headaches she’d given the Jedi Council for a thousand of years was more than enough of a Journey Beyond.
With so many Force users coming out of the shadows, she felt she wasn’t needed quite as much in the Outer Rim – which is why instead, when she left Tython behind, it was toward the Unknown Reaches she was headed.
There, she spent the next few years going around, LIBRA becoming her first padawan since the one who'd died during the Light and Darkness War – and in time, the first droid Je’daii.

By the time she was back on Tython, Anakin had become the master of the order, and the galaxy was a very different place. There she spent the next few decades, finally feeling time catch up with them.
She passed in her sleep, leaving no body behind, as she woke up by Mana’s side – the goddess hugging her before taking her hand, magic swirling around them, the world changing around them between two steps.
Fay hesitated – but Mana was pushing her forward, as were Padfoot and Blanche.
“I’ve had my reunion,” the goddess told her gently, “Now is your turn.”

She was on Death’s Islands, Fay realized suddenly- and memories from Lily Potter’s life she feared she had forgotten were suddenly coming back to her, as she saw the face of the man she never forgot – and quite a few others she hadn’t expected to ever see again.
“James!”
She’d greeted Severus next, and they'd all spent some time, starting to catch back on several lifetimes of memories, from all sides.
It was rather startling, to realize that while most of the people she'd known as Lily Potter had gone back to life several times, and forgotten their times together along the ways, others had found their own way to hold on their memories. James and Severus, who'd chosen to wait in Death Islands, Padfoot, by becoming Shadow's Holy Servant, and multiple people, from her goddess of a daughter's other incarnations, many of them having gotten to know each other in Death's Islands.
There was one glaring absent from the reunion…

“She’s out there helping someone else, isn’t she?” she couldn’t help but ask
Mortal souls and Holy Servants alike laughed at the barely surprised comment, but it was someone else who answered, “The bambina stumbled on another world that needed help on her way back from your galaxy.” dark eyes shone with mirth, “Naturally she couldn’t say no.” a smirk, “I’m Shadow’s counterpart, Light, god of Survival. I’ve been waiting to meet you for a long time.”

Fay would have been surprised – but from the moment she had shaken the other’s hand, she’d felt her own powers buzz in recognition.
She may have been blessed by Mana, both had always felt that she wasn’t really meant to be the goddess’ Holy Servant. Her long life as Fay had only proved that while she held quite a strong affinity for magic, it was elsewhere that her abilities truly shone.
Behind her, she heard both James and Severus chorus as one, “Everything but that!” but didn’t really listen, too focused on the way her powers were easy mingling with Light’s own, as she became the god’s first Holy Servant.
