XVII. 7944.361 to 7944.074 CRC
Arriving near Sojourn, Arya hadn’t even had to signal her presence, as apparently the UnfetteredMooka had already been approved by the defense system of the moon.
On the landing pad, they were met with a familiar figure – small, but heavy set, with clawed hands and feet, a reptile-like face, and a silvery-gray, scaly, skin – this was the leader of the squad of personal guards they’d met on Tatooine.
“Master Plagueis has left instruction.” he told her, apparently already knowing of his employer’s passing, “we’ve sent a squad to bring back your underground guests.”
Indeed – she could feel a rather stunned Anakin and amused Obi Wan and Arkous’ coming nearer by the moment. By the time they arrived, her padawans and her had already been led toward the private aisle of the fortress, given bedrooms, access to a bath, and fresh clothes.
Arkous, Obi Wan and Anakin were evidently freshly cleaned too by the time they all met in a small, intimate lounge, and wearing clothes that clearly weren’t theirs, though well-adjusted enough that someone had visibly taken care to custom-fit them.
“You leave to kill a Sith and come back his heir.” Obi Wan sighed, leaning against the sinfully comfortable sofa, “Only you, nuya Jen’Nwit.”
“He was interesting!” she offered to defend herself
Her padawan immediately came to her help, agreeing, “You would have gotten along.” Chirrut said, “If not for the corruption.”
“It certainly seems so, given what you’ve told us about him.” Arkous had to agree, before pointing out, “That’s even worse! You found someone fun, and kept him all to yourself!”
“Well, you were busy too, weren’t you?”
Plagueis hadn’t left things off to chance, instead having clearly meticulously prepared the aftermath of his demise.
Nothing about the Grand Plan remained in Sojourn – from what they could guess, most of it had been shared between his apprentices while they were fighting on Tatooine.
His guards had remained, as while Dark Side users, they weren’t part of the Banite Sith’s grand oeuvre, but personally indebted to him.
The Noghri Zhar’kash clan had fled their birth planet after having been nearly hunted into extinction, and it was pure chance that Hego Damask had stumbled onto them, and chosen to save them, his curiosity aroused by the reason behind their ostracization.
Because where regular Noghri were single-minded fearsome warriors, entirely dedicated to fighting and the Dark Side, the Zhar’kash clan was different – some among them tended more toward balance, or even, in a few cases, the Light Side. Even worse, according to their people, the clan also had started to gain interest in various things – mainly various arts, but not only.
And the Zhar’kash Dynast had refused to purge the ‘defective’ members of his clan.
Hego Damask had allowed the clan to settle on Sojourn, granted them access to the holonet and allowed them to live as they wished, as long as they didn’t betray him, and the warriors fought for him.
The war-like Noghri had become his personal guard – and soon, the more peaceful ones had taken over all the duties of his household.
When the Banite Sith had realized madness was starting to take over, he’d warned them – the loyal clan had refused to leave him. Then, when he’d told them about his will, they’d resolved to wait and see in whose hands their savior would leave Sojourn.
By now, they felt they knew enough about the Green Moon House and its leader.
So they would pledge themselves to her – and clearly, Arya had realized that she wasn’t really given any choice in the matter, as the clan's decision was already made.
Needless to say, Arkous and Obi Wan found the situation hilarious.
Anakin was busy trying to learn everything he could about the clan, dragging Baze and Chirrut along.
All in all, it was a win-win situation for everyone – the Zhar’kash clan didn’t lose their living space, and the Green Moon House didn’t have to divert resources to protect their new asset.
“There have already been six attempts to breach the planetary defense system.” Vas’kash, the head of security, had informed her, confirming the need for permanent protection forces on the moon, “Four by different underworld clans, two by two different not-children of Darth Plagueis.”
She tilted her head, looking through the information on the datapad he’d given her while reporting the situation.
The Corellian Exchange and Crimson Dawn had clearly merely been testing the water, and turned back quickly once it was clear Sojourn remained as strongly protected as ever.
On the other hand, the Spice Cartel and Guavian Death Gang meant business – the first couldn’t ignore the Green Moon House now that they had gained more power, as it was well known that they despised drugs dealers; the second had already accepted assassination hits on multiple members of the Green Moon House even before they’d inherited from Hego Damask, and were clearly holding a grudge.
As for the last two, not-children was the clan’s way of referring to apprentices, as she’d already noticed with their own padawans. For those two, the Noghri were keeping to Plagueis’ last wishes, and didn’t tell them anything about them…
It was rather easy to speculate about the one who’d came in a Cosinga-class heavy corvette, as Obi Wan remembered about Palpatine’s personal yacht, the Imperialis, but for the other one, it was difficult to say. The Scimitar was a complete mystery for now, as back in the old time-line, it was a spaceship that had belonged to Darth Maul – but since, right now, the Dathomiri was happily training under Saarai’s tutelage, it evidently wasn’t him.

Anakin’s eyes lit up, as the holo-call connected, a familiar silhouette appearing on the coffee table.
“Padmé! Congratulation on your elections!” he greeted enthusiastically, “Do we have to call you ‘your majesty’ now?” he teased
“You will have if we meet in an official setting!” she laughed, before greeting, “Hello master Arkous, master Kenobi.”
“Congratulations.” the two Je’daii masters echoed their padawan, “You’ve been making waves recently, and not only with your election.”
“Forcing the Eriadu Summit to be expanded was pure genius.” Arya agreed, currently in her outfit as Dasha Ellan, “After all, the Rimma Trade Route inhabitants and the Nebula Front are far from the only ones to have griefs with them.”
“I’ve realized.” the new queen agreed, “To think the Senate would let them skirt around the laws like this without any problem!”
“Jango and Satine are still seething a bout the ‘punishment’ the Trade Federation was given, even after concrete proofs were given about their meddling in the Mandalore civil war.”
“Don’t tell me about it,” Arya groaned, “I think it’s one of the main reasons the Haat Mando’ade are so eager to play around the Outer Rim, is because they are looking for a pretext to fight them.”
“And instead they’ve annoyed the Hutts.”
“I would do more than annoy them if I could.” the head of the Green Moon House answered matter-of-factually, her opinion of the Cartel clear to read on her face
“Dasha really hates slavery.” Anakin whispered loudly to Padmé, that was looking a bit surprised about the virulence of the woman’s opinion, “She was the one who freed my mother!” he added enthusiastically
“I was looking for a good mechanic, and her master was a waste of space who had no idea about how to treat a living being.”
Neither Arkous nor Obi Wan were surprised, when they saw a hint of hero worship lit up in Padmé’s eyes.
“Oh! You are Dasha Ellan? The founder of the Green Moon House charity? What you’re doing to help slaves all around the galaxy is an inspiration to any sensible sentient being!”
Chirrut and Baze shared a glance, and snorted lightly, realizing that clearly, the young teenager only knew about the more official side of the organization they were both proud members of.
By the time the call was reluctantly ended, the hint of hero worship was a blazing fire, and the two Je’daii masters wondered if they hadn’t made a mistake in introducing the two forces of nature that were Arya and Padmé.
Anakin, on the contrary, seemed thrilled about how quickly two of his favorite people had gotten along, and was already wondering when they’d all be able to go and visit Naboo.
In the end, the occasion happened surprisingly quickly, as Padmé decided to invite them to her official coronation ceremony, that was held nearly a month after the results of the election. With how excited Anakin was about seeing the young queen again, neither Arkous nor Obi Wan had the heart to refuse – and Arya herself had agreed too, as she needed to go to Naboo anyway.
After all, she’d told Hego that she would take care of those Black Sun members who’d betrayed him – and it just so happened that the Outer Rim Construction and Assembly, who was responsible for constructing the plasma refinery and new spaceport hangars on Naboo, was led by the Black Sun Vigo – leader – of the area.
Just the man she needed to see.
Dropping by to visit Cabra, the dug Vigo, making him sign over all his rights over the company, before making him disappear had barely been worth mentioning, as the small time thug had entirely relied on Gardulla’s protection to make his living – with the Hutt dead, he’d known his days were numbered, yet hadn’t been smart enough to run.
“Had fun, nuya Jen’Nwit?”
“Bah. If it wasn’t for the ownership of the ORCA, he wouldn’t have been worth the waste of time.” she rolled her eyes, “Makes me wonder if the Black Sun are lacking competent people, or if he was just stupid.”
“That may explain why they abandoned his branch so easily.”
“That and his dealings with Gardulla.” Arya agreed, “While the Black Sun isn’t against the Cartel, they know that dealing with them can be dangerous.”
“The leaking of Ars Veruna’s dealings with them has worked wonders too.” Obi Wan mused, as they watched one of the new queen’s handmaidens settle the large, elaborate crown, ornamented with the famous Jewel of Zenda.
With the white face-paint, red Scar of Remembrance on her lower lips, and the two stylized beauty marks, the young girl was unrecognizable, and looked like a beautiful porcelain doll.
As soon as her induction speech was done, her direct entourage stepped forward – the current chief advisor, Syo Bible, the head of royal safety, captain Quash Panaka, then half a dozen of hand-maiden, all personally chosen for both their physical similarities with the new queen and individual abilities.
Then, the senator stepped forward – thought it seemed the two were rather cool toward each other, followed by the thirty-five representatives of the other planets of the Chommell sector, with which the young queen was noticeably more cordial, professing to them her wish for stronger ties between their worlds. Her words were clearly well received by the representatives – less so by the hidden Sith, though he hid it well enough.
It was during the fatuous state banquet, as she mingled expertly with the politicians and other businessmen invited – a few of which she recognized from Sojourn – that Arya came to a startling realization.
“I’ve heard you’re the new mistress of the Hunter’s moon, Dasha dearest. Can we expect a happy gathering next year?”
“Rohl Dur’an,” she greeted with an amused smile, “Congratulation on your election. You’re the first male Devaronian to ever hold the Devaron seat, if I’m not wrong?”
“My mother felt it was time.” he agreed pleasantly
While Devaronian females were usually both the leaders of their people, and less adventurous than their male counterparts, Isa Du’ran was different – she’d gone out and traveled during her early years, then came back home, and started to build up the Du’ran Family.
The crime family had quickly grown, and seized political power on the planet – and while they weren’t the official leaders, everyone knew they were the ones pulling the strings in the shadows.
They’d become tentative allies not too long before Arya had managed to wrangled her invite to Sojourn’s gathering, as the Du’ran mainly dealt in smuggling, light drugs, and scams.
“I must admit,” another voice interjected, “I really hadn’t expected the old hermit to leave so much to you.”
“Neither did I.” she agreed pleasantly, effortlessly playing the posturing game, “But I guess my charity work against slavery awoke something in him in his old age.”
“I’m sure.” the other agreed blandly, his eyes conveying clearly just how much he doubted her statement, “I hope the weight of such a heavy legacy won’t prove too much for a young organization like your own.”
“Don’t worry, young the Green Moon House may be, we are ready to use the boon we were gifted with to help the slaves all around the galaxy.”
“Of course.” the other agreed blandly – he couldn’t well speak for slavery here, but it was clear he didn’t think much about slave-freers like her
Which was only natural, as the man was a CorpSec representative, who notoriously worked with the Kintan Gunrunners, a gang of weapon smugglers that were in the Hutts Cartel’s pocket.
The polite double-talk went on for a while, before the aging human finally took his leave to mingle further.
“I thought he’d never leave.” groaned Anakin, who’d made his way toward them in the meanwhile – making his best attempt at discretion, though the whisper was still loud enough that several people glanced toward the boy with mirth in their eyes, “Have you seen the queen’s costume? I would hate to have to wear this!”
“It’s so heavy, you have to be in good physical shape to wear those ceremonial costumes.” Arya agreed, “But the heavy makeup also means she doesn’t really have to focus on her sabacc-face, and the costume is also woven with reinforced fibers to protect her from attacks.”
“Uh. It’s armor?” he glanced again toward Padmé, this time detailing more her outfit, “And there are plenty of places to hide all sorts of weapons!” he realized, “Wicked!”
There was a discreet laugh, and a new man stepped forward, “I must confess, I was a little concerned when I heard that the Green Moon House had inherited from Hego Damask II, but it seems I was worried about nothing.”
“That inheritance doesn’t change anything about our values.” Arya agreed, “As some will be reminded of.”
“Politics are so dumb.” Anakin rolled his eyes, “Did they think that because an old guy left you some money, you’d suddenly be alright with slavery?”
This time, the tanned-skinned man laughed openly, “Indeed.” he agreed with the boy, “I guess even the youngest Jedi are wise.”
“I’m not a Jedi, I’m a Je’daii! And I’m Anakin Skywalker.”
“Bail Prestor. And I’m afraid I don’t know the difference?” the man admitted, sounding genuinely curious
Anakin seemed to grasp for words for a second, before glancing helplessly toward Arya.
“It’s a matter of core philosophy,” she took over seamlessly, “Jedi tends to be more contemplative than Je’daii. And while Jedi only teach about the Light Side of the Force, the Je’daii teach about balance.”
“I thought the Dark Side was banished?”
“Not quite. It’s the Sith doctrine that was banished. And even then, those aren’t illegal anymore, though not many people still know about them.” Arya explained, “But it’s a common misconception, that Dark Side equates evil, when in true, it’s more about using emotions with the Force.”
“While the Light Side is about not using emotions through the Force.”Anakin completed, “I’m really bad at it.” he admitted to Bail, making the man smile in amusement, “But sometimes you have to.”
“Just like I’m terrible at sending reports in time, but still have to do it.” the man agreed easily
Arya smiled fondly, suddenly understanding why Obi Wan spoke of Bail Organa with such fondness.
The man’s soul spoke of wells of kindness, a hint of idealism, but also of strong conviction, and of enough realism to realize the world wasn’t only made of black and white.
Which is why, she could feel, that despite how approving he felt about the Green Moon House, this man, contrarily to young Padmé Naberrie – knew about the whole reputation of her organization.
“Thank you so much for accepting my invitation!” said queen greeted enthusiastically, before regaining a bit of decorum as she realized another politician was nearby, “I was looking forward to meeting the person behind something as sorely needed as your Green Moon House.”
“You flatter me,” Arya smiled, “I’m more admiring of someone daring enough to tackle such heavy responsibility, so young.” her shudder wasn’t fake, as she knew all too well how heavy a country or even a planet’s fate could feel over one’s shoulders
“It won’t be easy.” Padmé agreed honestly, “I’m understanding each day a bit more just how meany things I didn’t know a bout. But someone had to do it, and I could.”
“So you did.” Bail completed, like someone who’d already heard the sentence before — which wasn’t impossible, given that he was engaged with the current queen of his planet, even if it wasn’t well-known
He bowed elegantly in front of the queen “I think we may expect great things of you, your highness.” he said, approval evident in his voice, “And Alderaan will be happy to be one of your partners, should you wish to.” turning slightly toward Arya, “We would also like to speak with you when you have time, Alderaan has always been a voice against slavery in the Senate.”
It was just as the new queen was about to leave, after having chatted for a while, to keep on entertaining her guests, that Palpatine made his way toward them.
“Your majesty,” he bowed toward his queen, “Senator Organa,” he nodded toward the Alderaani, then finally, glanced toward her, hostility flashing for an instant in his eyes – blatant enough that even the non-Force sensitive noticed it, “Miss Ellan.”
“Senator Palpatine.” they echoed
Then, pointedly, Padmé told him, “Miss Ellan is one of my personal guests. Her fight against slavery is something we should all strive toward.”
“Naturally.” the old man agreed obsequiously, “We Nabooian have long been proponents of the freedom of self, regardless of the previous King’s ghastly actions.”
The people around shared discreet glances, all of them surprised – the sheer lack of tact of mentioning the previous king, especially given his gruesome end, during the young queen’s coronation party, was quite staggering, though right now, the senator didn’t seem to realize it.
“I’m so sorry,” Padmé said – it was apparent she would be blushing crimson if not for her make-up, “I don’t understand what’s going on through that man’s mind nowadays.” she sighed, “I was told he was a great man, and have been loyally serving Naboo for decades, but recently, he’s seemed a bit… Agitated.”
“He may well be grieving.” Arya told her – or rather, she amended mentally, raging, “After all, the late Hego Damask II was his mentor in his early years.”
“He was?” the queen repeated, clearly stunned – the old Muun hadn’t been moving in the same social circles as her senator, according to what she knew
“That’s right,” Bail remembered, “I’d all but forgotten about it, since it was before my birth, but I heard my predecessor mention it.” he confirmed
Arya had to hide a smirk, as she saw the queen’s eyes growing thoughtful.

“Darth Sidious thinks I’m his master’s other apprentice.”
Obi Wan, who’d been changing in his sleeping wear, stumbled and nearly fell on the bed, sending her a halfhearted glare, “You chose your timing to say this, didn’t you?” he accused her
“Naturally, Karza'Berniuk.” she answered with an innocent smile
With a low growl, the Je’daii pounced, forgetting all about nightwear to get his revenge – quickly joined by Arkous as soon as he got out of the fresher room.
Only to be interrupted by a tentative knock on their door.
“Master Je’daii?”
With a small whine, Obi Wan was the first to manage to get presentable enough to answer the door, where a young queen was waiting hesitantly. Glancing toward the room to confirm that the other two were more or less presentable, he waved the teenager in – not even surprised when their three padawans followed within a few moments.
Padmé blushed crimson as she realized that she’d probably interrupted the trio, before Anakin loudly told her, “Don’t mind them, if we didn’t stop them from time to time, they’d always be stuck in their room.”
Arkous glared at his padawan, vowing, “I’ll make you eat those words when puberty hit.”
This startled a laugh out of the teen-aged girl, who told, “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to interrupt anything, I just wanted to talk a bit more freely.”
“Don’t worry about it,” Arya reassured her, “If it really was a problem, we wouldn’t have answered the door.”
The girl nodded, still somewhat embarrassed, but quickly getting over it.
“I really wanted to speak more with you.” she admitted, toward Arya, “But I realized something tonight…” she blushed once more, though differently, “I fear I’m still innocent in many ways, but… You’re not only a charity, are you?” she asked bluntly
Arya eyed the young queen for a moment, both getting a sense for her soul, and going through what her two partners had told her about Padmé.
Padmé was proud, stubborn, smart, kind – many things, but above all, despite wanting the best for everyone, she was someone who was able to grow pass what remained of her naivety and innocence.
“We’re not.” she agreed, before explaining to her, “Thought our charity work isn’t a lie, the best covers must have some truth to them.”
“Just like my decoys must look like me.”
“Precisely.” she agreed, “But the problem is… The galaxy isn’t kind enough for charity work to be enough.”
She looked to be struggling for a moment, before admitting “You’re right.” a sigh, “I really hate it, but you’re right. I remember taking part in the relief group for Shadda-Bi-Boran. I helped relocate the children when the planet started to freeze over.” her eyes darkened, “For years, I was just happy to have been a part of something so big. Then, I realized it had been useless.”
“The Bi-Boran never managed to adapt to any other atmosphere.” Obi Wan said sadly, remembering having heard about it – thought he’d never known Padmé had taken part in the relief effort
She nodded.
“For all those years, I was praised for this… And no one… Not one person!” she raged, “Told me.” she eyed them, “All of them were too busy grooming a proper little queen.” she concluded bitterly, “All of them, but you.” she added, eyeing Arkous and Obi Wan, “You told me about the fact that slavery was still current in the Outer Rim. You told me about the corruption I hadn’t even noticed. You made me realize that being peaceful and being defenseless were very different things.”
“Good job.” Arya couldn’t help but tell her partners, who sent her eerily similar smiles
“Indeed.” Padmé agreed, “You may have done the most to truly prepare me to be a queen, rather than a puppet.”
After hours of talking, and questioning, the young queen had fallen asleep on the trio’s bed, in a puppy pile with Anakin, Chirrut and Baze.
“She’s already changed so much.” Obi Wan couldn’t help but marvel, before adding, more somberly, “And she’ll be all the more at risk for it.”
“She will.” Arkous agreed, “But she was smart enough to realize it, yet still chose to push ahead.”
Indeed – in the following weeks, the new queen Amidala proved her intent, managing to make her voice heard in the Senate – pushing for an overhaul of the Trade Summit that had been in the making on Eriadu, to mediate between the Trade Federation’s wish to arm its starships, and the Senate’s intention to deduct new taxes on the free-trade areas where the corporation, and other similar commercial guilds operated.
Instead, Amidala had reminded the whole Senate that there was no reason to give any new rights to an organism that was still under official sanctions, and had proved multiple times that it was willing to ignore any and all laws for the sake of profit.
The Eriadu Trade Summit – was shaping to be something far bigger than what was originally intended.
And given Obi Wan’s memory about the disaster it had been the first time around, all had been very pleased when the new queen had been smart enough to request assistance from the Jedi once more.
A few weeks after her coronation, Amidala of Naboo was arriving to the Seswanna Hall, the luxury hotel where all the delegations were going to be hosted, and the Summit held.

Arkous and Obi Wan, along with their padawan, were part of the security squad of Jedi – along with Mace Windu, Qui-Gon and his two padawan, Fosh knight and Je’daii novice Vergere, Dooku, new member of the council Ki-Adi-Mundi and his new padawan A’sharad Hett, and young knight Bruck Chun.
Arya, under the guise of Dasha Ellan, was also there, along with her two padawans, to meet with the Nebula Front, who were suspected of preparing an attack on the summit. Other members of the Green Moon House were also there – among them, newly promoted Journeyman Je’daii Shmi Skywalker and her RedBird. And landing with them, her fellow Je’daii Journeyman Xanathos du Crion, latest addition to the Green Moon House, and, if Arya read the signs correctly, probably soon to be Anakin’s step-father, something she honestly hadn’t seen coming...
As for the rest of the summit’s guests – numerous commercial guilds were there, the Trade Federation only one among many, as the Association of Free Trade Worlds, Commerce Guild, Corporate Alliance, Hutts Cartel and Techno Union were also there.
Representative from numerous worlds were also there, among them Sullust, probably the most prominent planetary representative present, but also Denab, Adarlon, Dentaal, Giju, Ghorman, Sluis Van and a dozen of other minor world from the Outer Rim – and even Thyferra, that was still the main supplier of bacta in the galaxy. But there weren’t only representatives from the Rimma Trade Route – Satine had come, as a representative of Mandalore, here to formally testify against the Trade Federation once more, Melidaan had also sent a representative, as had many other Outer Rim worlds.
“Simply seeing all of you in the same vicinity when I already know the situation is risky is giving me an ulcer.” Mace groaned as Arya and her two padawans appeared near Arkous, Obi Wan and Anakin in the suite occupied by the Jedi, where about half of their team was present right now – the other half out patrolling
The accusatory statement, and heavy frown the master of the Order was throwing them made the trio laugh, their padawan behind them not really surprised at their reaction.
“Anyway, we’ve been alerted of an assassination attempt on the Chancellor during the summit.” he told them, “And honestly, all signs point toward it, even if you’ve told me that wasn’t the real point of the attack.”
“Oh, there will be an attack on the man,” Arya agreed, “It’ll just be a decoy.” a smirk, “But don’t worry, I can take care of that part. The killer they’ve hired isn’t quite as enthusiastic about his mission as they are.” a frown, “Though the current leader of the Nebula Front is a complete psycho. I had hoped he could be reasoned with, since their demands are rather reasonable, but…” a shrug, “Ah well, not everyone can be reasonable, I guess.”
“Alright.” Mace nodded, “So we keep up with the current rotation schedule, but focus on the real threat while you take care of the assassination attempt on the Chancellor.” a sigh, “I can’t believe I’ve just said that!”
The next day, Arya was hidden in the shadows, her two padawans tasked with following the Chancellor while she kept an eye on the assassin himself.
She hadn’t expected the fight that broke between the man and his employer – and the murder attempt that followed. As soon as Havac, the leader of the Nebula Front, had left to meet with the rest of his hired team, leaving behind three dying mercenaries, Arya dropped out of the shadows, throwing bacta patches to the two men, before focusing on the woman, whose state was far more preoccupying.
“So, trying to get out of the mercenary business?” she wondered
The Mirialan mercenary hesitated a second, then, seeing as she was helping them, opted for the truth, “Yeah, too dangerous, and while I don’t have high moral standards, I do have some. Killing the Chancellor is dumb, while he’s not the most effective, he’s honestly not the real problem.”
“True enough.” Arya agreed, “Well, the legal branch of the Green Moon House is hiring if you'd like.” she suggested, “Though you’ll have to tell me about Havac plans first.”
“I can do that.” the man agreed, “The name’s Arwen Cohl.”
“Boiny.” the Rodian echoed
“And the woman you’re healing is Rella.”
“Dasha Ellan.”
The man quickly went through the scheme he’d outlined to managed to kill the Chancellor – it was even rather effective, the Je’daii had to admit, thought it didn’t take into account the large Jedi/Je’daii force that had been a last-minute addition to the standard guards.
Soon, Arya was following Boiny toward the empty flat through which the sniper was supposed to act, leaving Rella in the care of her partner. The man was clearly torn between helping stop his former employer and staying with his still wounded wife.
“Don’t worry,” she reassured him, “there are Jedi ready for the attack.”
His eyes widened, finally realizing, “You’re not merely an underworld boss, eh?” he scoffed, “The Nebula Front never stood a chance.”
“I’m a respectable charity owner.” she dead-panned with a wink, making her fellow Mirialan snort, “Stay with your woman, we’ll take care of the rest.”
A nod – a hesitation, and finally, “Thanks.”
She acknowledged the whispered word, understanding all that he meant with it – after all, saving the three of them hadn’t really been essential. But while she may play the underworlder most of the time, it had never prevented Arya from helping people if she could.
As they rushed through the high-standing building where the sniper was settling for his job, Boiny told her, “You know, while those two love-birds will be happy going legal, I don't mind the other side of your House.”
She caught his eyes, glancing toward her hands – or rather the easily recognizable tattoo there, and didn’t more explanation.
“We’ll always need good pilots and fighters among our ranks. We also ask knowledge of the yanariya from all our operatives.”
“I know it.” the man confirmed, not really surprising her
While not everyone was as skilled with it as Shmi was – all the Amatakka she’d met since waking up in the future did know about the elusive art of hiding in the shadows.
“Well then,” she smirked, “consider this your job interview.”
Less than half an hour later, he was smirking at her, seated on the large human covered in scars, that he’d managed to take buy surprise – proving along the way that he did, indeed, know the yanariya. And how to tie someone up in a record time.
“Not too bad, right?”
She laughed at the smug comment, but agreed easily – because Rodians weren’t the tallest or more muscular looking, many people tended to forget their birth planet was covered in a jungle full of dangers, and the specie had in turn evolved in a society of fierce warriors.
“Well,” she mused, calling the local security team, “let’s see how my cute padawans are doing with their own job.”
With that, she grabbed the Rodian by the shoulder, dragging him to the shadows, getting out in the Jedi’s suite, where she’d taken care to memorize the blind spot of the monitoring holo-cam.
The Rodian came out of the darkness, spewing a litany of swear-words.
“What kind of Bantha-shit magic is this?” he protested
“That’s the yanariya’s next level.” she answered, “I’m told the Dathomiri witches can do something similar too.”
He shuddered, “Well, that was terrifying. But darn useful, it would have taken us nearly an hour to get here with all the security check-point to enter the Halls!”
With that, they were heading toward the higher levels, where she could feel not only her two padawans, but also Arkous, Obi Wan and Anakin.
By the time they entered the conference room, a human journalist was on the ground, Chirrut’s staff crushing his neck, Baze keeping the man in the visor of his blaster.
“That’s Havac!” Boiny said, starling the already agitated people around them – especially the locals, who knew well about the Nebula Front’s leader’s name
The next moment, the activist’s eyes became harder, as he tried to push Chirrut of, barely managing it, getting hit in the shoulder by Baze in answer – not even looking to care about it as he dived toward a remote that had fallen a few meters away when he’d been subdued.
While the remote looked like the activation pad for his holo-cam – it was pretty clear that wasn’t it, given how desperate he seemed to get to it.
Which is why Arkous didn’t bother to move, simply moving a hand, grasping through the Force, and crushing the remote.
“No!”
Too busy screaming his dismay, the human didn’t see Chirrut step and knock him out with a well-aimed hit in the back of his head, the Miraluka looking faintly annoyed.
At the very moment, the six security droid that were escorting the Trade Federation seemed to start to malfunction, but Obi Wan was already sending them against a wall with a thrust of his hand.
“Well,” he mused, “the sniper’s been captured, the assassination droids are out, the explosive charges have been neutralized.” a smile, “I think we can start this summit, right?”
Once more, the Negotiator’s charm worked its wonders, and soon, while some security officers were taking away Havac, and the deactivated droids.
One of the Nemoidians of the Trade Federation’s council had tried to delay the beginning of the summit, citing the fact they didn’t have their own security team – but the Je’daii master sweetly pointed out that their security team had been trying to kill them.
With that, the different representatives were soon seating around the large room, and heating debates starting.
¤.¤.¤
Hours turned into days, all the representatives tearing each other’s apart with their words. Most of the commerce guilds were outraged that they were all going to be penalized with new taxation, but only the Trade Federation was looking to gain any sort of concession in exchange.
Most of the Rimma Trade Route worlds were quite heated against the Trade Federation too, accusing the gigantic corporation of blatantly ignoring the Galactic Republic’s rules with their obvious monopoly on the main commercial axis across their galactic sectors. All in all, most of them agreed with the Nebula Front’s demands – if not the terrorist actions they’d resorted to use as a mean to make their voice heard.
The Je’daii/Jedi forces remained vigilant, knowing they’d managed to stop the most organized attempt against the summit – but doubting their enemy would stop there.
And indeed – in the following day, two more attempts had been made against the Chancellor himself, another against the new queen Amidala, and six more against the Trade Federation.
Naturally, the Nemoidians tried to use those attempts as proof that they were persecuted by the rest of the representatives present for the summit – that is, until it was proved that two of the assassination attempts had been sponsored by fellow Trade Federation’s members.
Despite the assassination attempt, Amidala was a vocal supporter of those wanting to finally get rid of the Trade Federation’s numerous malpractices, and her charisma was helping people with diverse objectives to start working together.
As the third week ended, things were starting to look worse for the Trade Federation, who were now reduced to try to salvage the situation by trying to appeal to the other commerce guilds over the question of taxation.
In the end, any commercial ship cruising though an area with recognized pirate activity had been granted the right for better armament, new taxation had been levered against the free-trade zones, but taxation reduction had also been allowed for all relief and charity work in those same areas, and the Trade Federation had been instructed to re-open negotiation on all its ongoing contracts with all those who asked for it without any penalties.
Needless to say, the Naboo queen had already stated that she was, indeed, asking for a renegotiation.
All the Force users could feel the anger that had spread through the Force not too long after the summit had ended – but before its results had been made public in the Senate, confirming to all that the Dark Side user working against the Jedi had deep ties in the Senate.
And that finally, they were the one managing to wrong-foot them.
Obi Wan, who remembered the disastrous conclusion of the summit the first time around, when it had been cut short because of the murder of all but one of the Trade Federation representatives and ended with a unilateral addition of taxation in the free-zones without any other concession from the Senate, making the resentment of those regions grow against the Galactic Republic, was ecstatic.
Arya hadn’t left Eriadu without pointing Arwen Cohl, Rella and Boiny at Shmi, who was soon inducting all three into the Green Moon House, while the head of the House was heading back toward Tython, as she felt her padawan s were ready to progress a bit more through their Great Journey.
Arkous, Obi Wan and Anakin were heading there too, thought all were staying vigilant – after all, they all knew they were but a few months away from the Naboo Blockade in the original time-line, and while it wasn’t yet clear if it would happen this time too – even if the Trade Federation was still controlled by a whole council rather than a single man, it was still more than duplicitous enough to attempt something similar.
As chance – or the Force – would have it, Saarai and her padawan were there too, so all four padawan headed out, traveling around the Je’daii planet while Saarai, Arya, Arkous and Obi Wan had spent some time catching up with the growing order.
All the younglings had been definitively moved to Padawan Kesh for a few years now, and it had in turn led to more knights and masters visiting – and some of them staying, and starting on the J e ’daii path.
Where there had been barely a dozen of Jedi, all considered a bit odd – there were now a few hundred s of Je’daii novices, over a hundred of disciples, and several dozens of journeyman and scholars.
And if many of them came from the Jedi – there were nearly three hundred, spread across all the ranks, who came from the multiple Force sects who’d participated in the Convocation of the Force, proving just how effective the event had been.
As the year was drawing to an end, the four Je’daii masters started to get the yearly Sojourn gathering ready – because it was evident that if Arya didn’t seize the control of it right away, someone else, somewhere else, would replace Hego Damask’s old celebration, and letting the highly political gathering get away from them would be stupid.
How best to keep an eye on the worst scums of the galaxy, but by keeping them in their sight, after all?
Finally, feeling that the time for contemplation was over for now, all four of their padawans made their way back to them – all gaining the bead of a senior padawan along the way, and Anakin all but crowing about breaking Obi Wan’s record. Then deflating when his master reminded the boy that while, indeed, he’d reached the rank younger, he’d also taken much more time – earning gentle ribbing from his two brother-padawans and cousin-padawan, as he called Maul.
Then, a few weeks before the first Green Moon’s Gathering, a plea for help reached the Jedi and Je’daii.
Arkous, Obi Wan and Anakin headed out toward Naboo; Saarai and Maul were meeting with Dooku to help his sister, the Countess of Serenno; and Arya, Baze and Chirrut were heading toward Sojourn to host their Gathering – and greet the interlopers who were trying to hamper the celebrations.
¤.¤.¤
It had been pure happenstances, that the Serenno blockade started while Dooku was planet-side.
The man answered his sister’s call for help when their elder brother, and heir to their father, had started to orchestrate fake attacks against the planet to justify his policy of replacing the standing military forces of the planet by droids.
Jenza Dooku wasn’t stupid, and had swiftly caught up with Ramil Dooku’s plot, starting to build a rebellion to depose the man who’d clearly proved he didn’t deserve the title of Count.
Quite a few discharged military men and women had joined her, but Ramil’s droid army had grown rapidly, and was difficult to defeat as long as they didn’t manage to destroy or at least sabotage the mobile control center – a Lucrehulk-class modified battleship.
But with its small defensive fleet of starfighters, mainly used against the sector’s pirates, Serenno wasn’t really equipped to deal with that powerhouse. Jenza had tried to appeal to the Galactic Senate – but naturally, the official Serennian senator, who was a supporter of her brother, had denied anything she was saying.
In turn, the Senate had decided to create a committee to debate whether they needed to do anything, that would probably take months before coming to a decision.
So Jenza had done what she should have from the start, and directly petitioned the Jedi – or rather, contacted her brother, who’d walked her on how to officially ask for Jedi help, then promptly volunteered.
He’d been quickly joined by Komari, and the knight’s new padawan, Sheyan, a rash Devaronian boy, that was already flourishing under his former pupil’s unconventional teachings – by Jedi standard that is, as Je’daii were already all proving unconventional, one way or the other.
Dooku had led the fight against Ramil and his droids with Jenza and the former Serennian military, while Komari and Sheyan led the pilots to reclaim the hangar where their fighters were grounded – and led the space fight against the Lucrehulk.
Hours of battle later, Ramil was detained, the droid control ship destroyed – and with it, the droids deactivated, and Jenza was taking over the position of Countess of Serenno.
Her first act had been to contest the validity of the former Count’s contract with the Trade Federation, on the ground of the man having been deposed.
Naturally, the Trade Federation hadn’t been happy about this, but according to the recent Eriadu Accords, they didn’t have any choice but to at least renegotiate the contract. Sill, they’d dragged their feet, delaying the official talks for weeks – until they’d arrived one day to ‘negotiate’ with three new Lucrehulk-class ships.
Luckily, Dooku hadn’t left the planet yet, helping his sister establish her rule, and undo Ramil’s damages. Komari and Sheyan were still there too – but even between the three of them, it would be difficult to destroy the three ships before the droids waged too much damage – and soon, the droid armies were landing, and starting to take over the planet.
He’d immediately called for help, but knew it would take time for anyone to be dispatched, either from Tython or Coruscant – so the Je’daii master, his sister, padawan, and grand-padawan by his side, started to reorganize the Serennian resistance.
It would take at least two weeks for help to arrive – and in the meantime, they’d do all they could to limit the damages, and fight back.
It was a backhanded blessing, that the people had already learned how to fight against the droids – and where their main weakness was.
But there were three times more droids this time, so it was inevitable that they were loosing ground, and one of the first thing the machines had done, had been to seize the hangar where the few Serennian fighters were parked.
And without fighters – deactivating the control ship suddenly was far more complicated.
Since an all out attack was out, they’d instead reinforced the cities where most of the population had taken refuge, and that were protected with rather impressive shields – but quickly, they’d had to start sending teams out, to find food and other necessities, as they hadn’t been ready to face a siege.
Thankfully, Dooku had trained as a Shadow, not to mention his time spent on Tython, and he’d trained Komari the same way. As for Sheyan, the boy’s Devaronian heritage was playing for him, as he was used to harsh living conditions – though the padawan was still learning difficult lessons, on the warring planet, just like all the children were.
The days were crawling by, and the battle of attrition was starting to weight on the population – that still didn’t give up, morale bolstered by the new Countess' recent victory over her predecessor, and the three Je'daii's help.
More people were volunteering, be it to help gather food, or organize ambushes – and the Serennian military had gained a rather large, thought mostly untrained militia to help them.
Still – Dooku was quite thankful when, on the seventeenth day’s evening, he started to feel two familiar presences in the Force, quickly growing closer.
A hidden landing pad’s coordinated had been indicated to Saarai with a mental nudge – something that would have been far harder with anyone else, but the half pureblood Sith was powerful enough that she got the message even if they didn’t share any Force bond.
Stealth generator still activated, the Ember landed on Serenno – and Dooku gave a smile filled with bloodlust to the two disembarking Je’daii, that they immediately echoed, having seen during their descend on the planet just how badly it had been hit by the Trade Federation's occupation.
It was time to hit back.
¤.¤.¤
When three battle spaceship had appeared above Naboo, Padmé’s first reaction had been to call Arkous and Obi Wan, all the while telling one of her handmaiden to send a formal petition for help to the Jedi order.
The two Je’daii master had been quick to both reassure her, and make her realize things weren’t going to be easy.
A few months earlier, her first move would have been to appeal to the Galactic Senate — but the lack of punishment against the Trade Federation's interference in the Mandalorian civil war, not to mention the near disaster that the Eriadu Trade Summit had been had quite cooled her faith in the Republic.
She hadn't really needed to hear the two Je'daii masters telling it — to know that going to Coruscant to ask for help would be futile.
But their confirmation of it had helped her steel her resolve.
After centuries of peace, war had come back to Naboo.
But while they’d grown used to peace, Nabooians weren’t the type to just roll over and surrender.
Sure, they were more used to waging wars between humans, or against the Gungans – droids weren’t really something they knew about. Thankfully, both Obi Wan and Arkous knew about fighting against the machines, and had quickly handed a slew of advice before ending the call and starting to travel toward the planet.
A few hours later, Amidala was sending a general warning to the population, telling people to leave the big cities, go to the ground in the numerous vacation houses and other retreats all around the planet, that would be far more difficult to find for the droids, survival guides about edible plants and creatures of the countryside were put on the holonet, and reassurance that help was on its way provided.
Despite all the centuries of peace, Nabooian were quick to react – Amidala among them.
The Theed royal palace was put under lockdown, the queen took down the mask of Amidala – and it was only identically clothed handmaidens that were spotted leaving the place.
It would take over two weeks, maybe more, for her Je’daii protector to arrive – but Padmé Naberrie would survive – and ensure as many of her people as she could did too.
Finding the cities abandoned had infuriated the Trade Federation, and they’d rained destruction of the beautiful but empty cities.
It took them a few days to realize that the Nabooian were using the survival knowledge put on the holonet to survive – and rather naturally, their next move had been to put some jammers that cut the planet from the holonet.
It was a R2 unit, who’d been on the small ship they’d used to leave the capital city, that suggested reverting to older technologies.
The people may not be able to access the holonet anymore – but there were plenty of droids around, and most of them still were fitted with radio transmitter, a technology so old the queen had barely remembered what it even was, but that the local droids themselves apparently did still make use of for short range transmissions between them.
And there were still old relays around the planet – most of them not having been used for millennia, but not destroyed either. With how old and primitive the technology was, putting a team together to put the nearest antenna back in working order hadn’t been too hard — clearly, it wasn't the kind of technology that needed a qualified technician to make work.
Thanks to it, R2-D2 had been able to contact the nanny-droid of a family who was hiding a few hundred of kilometers away, but also the agricultural droids of a small settlement of farmers, and so on.
Little by little, droid by droid, the word was spread.
And it was via radio communication that the Nabooian started to plot and plan.
Of course, the enemy being droids, people had wondered if they weren’t putting themselves in danger by using the same range of communication as they did. But the fact that the enemy droids were using similar frequencies was on the contrary playing for them, as the air was so saturated i n communication that it was doubtful they would even realize the native too had started using radio transmitters.
Communication restored, the Nabooian had then realized they weren’t the only ones under siege – as the Gungans had been attacked too, and just like them, had quickly emptied their usual cities, to retreat to their sacred sanctuary.
Padmé had quickly come to the conclusion that allying with the other specie they shared the planet with could only be beneficial in this situation. Shar Tavaneen, her former opponent in the election, had volunteered to try and broker and alliance – and of course, first, to find the Gungans' hiding place, as no human knew where it was.
Putting himself to great risk, the prince-elect had gone alone in the depths of the bigger and deeper lake of the planet, where they’d always suspected the Gungan sanctuary to be hidden.
And after days of searching, he finally was lucky enough to encounter a Gungan hunting party, and help them enough against their prey that they accepted to take a message to their leader.
From there, the communications had been opened – and if at first the aquatic specie’s boss hadn’t been really keen on cooperating with them, as his own people were safely hidden away, their nation was still war-like enough that having to run and hide was grating on him.
Two weeks after the beginning of the blockade; for the first time, Nabooian and Gungans were taking the fight back to the droids.
They’d planned on several ambushes, aiming to liberate the few Nabooians that had been unlucky enough to get caught by the droids, and had been packed into prisoner camps where living conditions were dismal.
Padmé telling to Panaka that, whether he liked it or not, she was taking part in the attacks, had all but given grey hair to the man, but the young queen was stubborn, and the mere idea of staying behind and hiding, while the people she’d sworn to guide and protect were risking their lives wasn’t something she could do.
Besides – she had a plan, as R2-D2 had pipped about an idea about how to gain access to information about the three control ships hanging about the planet. And given how the little droid hadn’t steered them wrong yet – she saw no reason not to cooperate with it.
Eventually, her captain of security had capitulated, and merely ensured she was taking with her the best trained people.
She’d found herself empathizing a bit more with Panaka – when the rest of her handmaiden had unequivocally told her that they were volunteering too.
The young queen had been stunned by the conditions in which her people had been kept – pets in family houses were treated better in Theed… Even work beasts were treated better!
In a mere two weeks, malnutrition and disease had started to spread in the barely tolerable barracks the prisoners had been parked in, and the vision of horror had only hardened her resolve.
Obi Wan Arkous and Dasha, even little Anakin, for all that he was younger than her, had shown her that the world wasn’t as black and white as she thought, and she’d even started to understand why the Green Moon House – not only the charity, but also the underworld organization – was needed in their galaxy.
But never had she thought she’d witness such horrors on her peaceful planet.
And she hated it, with an intensity she hadn’t even known herself capable of.
R2’s oddly comforting bips helped her wrestle back her control over her emotions, the smart droid somehow noticing her inner meltdown – and while the rest of the teams were working on evacuating the camp, she led her own men toward the droids.
They couldn’t afford to take a droid back to their base, as it would doubtlessly be able to communicate with the rest of the army, and locate their position.
So they’d have to hack one right here, and pray that R2 did manage to hijack the soldier’s programming right into the ship’s own – and get them the battle station’s plan, and hopefully, its weaknesses .
However he was doing it – it was working.
But while the R2 unit was doing all it could to speed up the downloading of the data, the fighter droids were made for battle, and as such their processor made to receive orders and battle plans, but not whole technical schematics.
And their own droid's intrusion – had apparently been noticed, as enemy droids were converging on their position.
Padmé and her team put themselves in a protective position around the hacking droid – and started to fight back – but it was clear that they were going to be submerged by mere number very quickly.
Thankfully, they weren’t alone – and never before had the Nabooian queen been so thankful to see fully armed Gungans.
Downloading finally done, they started to retreat as quickly as they could, toward the nearby forest, where they should lose the enemy droids more easily.
There was the familiar noise of a starship approaching, and Padmé sent a prayer toward any and all divinities, hoping against all hope that it wasn’t another droid drop-ship.
“Need a lift?”
She felt her heart beat faster, as she heard the boyish voice, shouting to be heard above the engine’s noise – and knew that things were going to be better now.
After all – her Je’daii protectors had answered her call, once more.
¤.¤.¤
Sojourn’s automated protections were harsh enough, that Lucrehulk weren’t of any use against them – as their vulture droids were shot down before even approaching the laser cannons and turbo-turrets of the three prototype Golan Isk Space Defense Stations that orbited around the moon. Similarly, neither the landing craft nor the troop carrier which came with the starship could outsmart the Space Defense Stations alone.
Which is why the Noghri, since they didn’t have fighters nor any other effective ship that could retaliate, had simply activated the heavy duty planetary shield, and let the Defense Stations slowly wilt down the attack forces of the Trade Federation.
But as luck would have it, barely a few hours after Arya and her padawan arrived, after twelve days of travel and a few moments of dodging between attacks before landing on the mansion’s private landing pad, another enemy had arrived.
And this new capital ship was of a design quite different from the Trade Federation’s own, albeit familiar to Arya. A design she’d until now only seen in Obi Wan’s memories of a future they were trying to avoid. There was an Acclamator-class in orbit above Sojourn, and thought it was three times smaller than the other hostile ship, it was far more worrying.
After all, the Acclamator assault ship were state-of-the-art versatile ships, that had been pivotal in the first months of the Clone Wars, their ability to both carry and land troop and break blockade one of the main reason why the Republic Galaxy had been able to rally so quickly against the Separatists.
This characteristic arrow-shaped design was impossible to mistake for anything else, and had inspired a slew of other starships after it — making it the trademark shape of the Empire's navy.
It was also a decade early.
And contrarily to the rather ineffective attack from the Trade Federation, this unexpected enemy, while it was taking some damages from the Defense Stations, was also effective enough that drop-ships had managed to slip by while the heavy cruiser, and its hoard of star fighters were keeping the attention off them.
Naturally, the droid ship was quick to take advantage of it, and pretty soon, both enemies were touching down on Sojourn.
Plagueis’ former guards hadn’t been idle, nor Arya and her padawans.
When the droid troop carrier landed, they were met by Baze and Chirrut, not to mention a whole squad of Noghri warriors.
As for Arya – her three familiar and her were ready when the Acclamator’s troop carrier landed, letting out of flow of corrupted Dark Side creatures.
The burst of rage and disbelief the incarnate goddess felt through the Force as she effortlessly cut through the beasts, not even with a lightsaber but her trusted KageShin was music to her ears.

After all – how could Plagueis’ apprentice know, that the enemy he’d sent her way was a particularly bad match against her, the resulting mangled souls so unnatural to her Soul Art that destroying them took but a cut of her blade.
If it had been people she was faced with, things would have been different, as she would have doubtlessly tried to save their soul by purifying the corruption – but mere beasts, so corrupted they didn’t have any natural instincts left? Neither she nor her familiars had any compunction at simply ending them, a mere hint of purification humming through blade and claws enough to make them turn into dust, like only holy servants could do.
But in this galaxy, so wide, yet where so little gods dwelled – of course, the Banite Sith couldn’t have known to take into account the holy powers of one of the very few priestesses in existence…
While they fought on the ground, the UnfetteredMooka had taken to the skies, and in an unprecedented feat, was waging a battle of her own, despite having no crew aboard.
Anakin, Arya couldn’t help but muse, would be unbearably proud and enthusiastic about the living ship’s exploits, once he was told about it!
While the communications were being scrambled around the moon, the Noghri hadn’t needed any access to the holonet to pinpoint the weak point of the two starship since, without any surprise, Plagueis did have the schematics of both ships stored within the plethora of information he kept on Sojourn. And, more surprisingly, it wasn’t part of the data he’d erased as part of the Great Plan…
The problem had been more about how to take advantage of said weak-points, since the Noghri warriors didn’t have any fighters, but a couple of heavily armored troop transport – that were good for travel, and landing on a battlefield, but didn’t have the finesse needed for a space battle.
But now, with the UnfetteredMooka in the air – things had changed radically.
The Acclamator and the Lucrehulk class weren’t allies, and clearly didn’t have any intention to help each other.
As such, it took less than half an hour once in space for the living ship to manage, all while dodging most of the vulture droid’s attack, to arrive in range, and shoot right through the correct hangar, destroying the large starship and its army of droids.
Of course – a normal freighter would never have been able to do what the UnfetteredMooka had just done – but the countless amelioration that had ended up with the ship awakening also meant that it was far more resilient, but also far faster and more maneuverable than a regular vessel of its class.
