Chapter VI. 4346.364 to 4348.272 CRC

There were countless notifications popping up in front of Arya’s eyes – not in the usual emerald green letters, but in shades of grey. Arya realized that she was currently blind – or at least that her eyes couldn’t see, her Force sight thankfully still working, though she wasn’t used to not seeing colors.
Putting the Moon Interface’s notifications to the side for now, she focused on her surroundings.
Arkous was just in front of her, an arm curled around her waist to prevent her from falling to the ground, her three familiars arrayed around him.

There was the familiar noise and sensation of a hypospray injecting something in her body – and the pain redoubled.
“We aren’t going to be able to stay long!” a familiar voice warned from a few meters ahead – Lana Beniko, the half-Mirialan recognized, before pausing as the whistling noises of an astromech were heard, “There’s a patrol incoming in three minutes!”
“No matter, we won’t be there.” Arkous said, catching Arya in a princess carry

She saw Blanche rush toward the blond Sith nearby, gently grabbing an arm in her maw, and disappearing in a burst of sunlight, Padfoot doing the same with the astromech – which, Arya realized, she recognized, as it was the one who’d been with Kira and Scourge over the years.
Arkous, Arya and Kagetsu disappeared at the same time – with a burst of warmth and a ring of fire.
“You’ve learned new tricks.” Arya mused in a weak voice as they reappeared in an unfamiliar shuttle – after all, she was familiar with the element enough to easily tell that the fire hadn’t been coming from Kagetsu alone

“Okay,” an unknown voice mused from the piloting chair, “I’m not even going to ask how you’ve done this! Grab a hold of something, this ride won't be smooth!”
With that, the shuttle was dodging between incoming heavy artillery fire – their escape finished in the depth of a swamp filled with dangerous creatures, the shuttle, not really made for such a dangerous chase, finishing its life head-first in a clearing.
On one hand, the area of the planet they’d crashed in was remote and dangerous enough that following them here would be complicated for any pursuers – on the other hand, it meant that the place was dangerous for them too.

The next few days were spent looking for a way to get off-world – a way that was found in the form of an ancient, gigantic starship hidden in the depths of the Eternal Swamp, that their pilot, one Koth Vortena, quickly recognized for the Gravestone, a mythical vessel renowned for being the only one to only face the Eternal fleet successfully.
They escaped just in time, having gained a new ally along the way – Senya Tirall, a former knight of Zakuul, and the mother of Tenebrae’s children, who’d grown disabused with the destruction brought by the man she’d loved, then their children.

Thought they took some damage during their escape – the Gravestone quickly proved to be up to his fame, managing to destroy two dozen of the Eternal fleet’s starships with only one hit from its omnicanon.
Of course, having spent an unknown time burrowed in the depths of a swamp, the mythical ship wasn’t in a great state – and their daring escape from Zakuul didn’t help it any, so it was in a barely flying starship they arrived to Asylum, a shadowport used as a sanctuary for refugees fleeing Arcann’s tyranny.

There, Koth’s crew joined them to man the gigantic crew, and start repairing it – things going far quicker once a rather familiar Phantom Class starship landed in the bays of the Gravestone, with Ketan and SCORPIO aboard.
Both had gone undercover on Zakuul during Arya’s stasis, cooperating with Arkous and the UnfetteredMooka’s crew to find her and free her – and along the way, they’d discovered that the captains of the Eternal fleet were droids with a design and technology surprisingly similar to SCORPIO’s own, raising her curiosity.

The UnfetteredMooka had soon followed, leading to a rather enthusiastic reunion between the crew members, and of course – with Arya’s father. The half-Mirialan had been rather amused to note that during her absence, Deaknal and Nyla had become quite close, making her wonder if she wouldn’t be gifted with a younger sibling in the future.
While they could have left with their own starship, Arya and her crew stayed with the Gravestone — as long as it wasn’t repaired, the large starship was still in danger after all, and leaving such an important asset unprotected when the basis of a resistance against the Eternal Empire were finally being built would have been rather stupid.

Xenloth had been the one to explain to her how Arcann had used her murder of Valkorion as a pretext to stir Zakuul’s population against the Republic and the Empire, conveniently forgetting to mention his own participation in said battle.
But by making her a famous figure – he’d also built her as a symbol for those against the Eternal Empire.
First, it had been people who knew her personally, then simply by reputation.
Then, as the years went by and even the Eternal Empire’s population realized their emperor wasn’t the benevolent tyrant he’d been posing as – even Zakuulan began to rally under the banner of the sleeping Outlander, making her a symbol of those who fought against tyranny.

It was rather ironic, especially for someone who’d fought within the system for so many years in the Empire – but Arya was open to playing the role she’d been cast into.
After all, while Arcann and Vaylin weren’t their father, they were still dangerous enough, and Tenebrae, she knew, would strike against them sooner or later, unable to take the humiliation they’d inflicted on him.
But while Arya didn’t mind becoming the leader of the rebellion, it didn’t mean she was back in full health, quite the contrary.

She was still getting her bearing together, the five years of cryo that had followed the harrowing battle against Valkorion having left her body and mind in shambles, and thought her sight, thankfully, had come back within a few days, the rest of her abilities weren’t quite in as good of a state.
As if to taunt her, event the MoonInterface was showing her just how diminished she was, the new Faulty Cryo and Shattered Body and Mind perks inflicting he constant poison damages andremoving a staggering 25% to all her Main and Secondary Stats.
On a more positive note – while her body hadn’t aged, she’d still leveled up twice during her stasis, mainly because of her skills, proficiencies, and abilities dealing with healing leveling up to try to cope with the catastrophic state of both her mind and her body.

Arkous and her familiars were all but hoovering around her, all four tied closely enough to her thanks to the Force that they could easily feel just how fragile she was.
In the end, nearly a week after her rescue, Arya’s frustration boiled over – and she proceeded to remind the pureblood Sith that he’d effectively wedded her five years ago, but that being evidently too weak to be up to her usual performances in a fight didn’t mean she was disabled in other aspects of her life.
She’d then dragged him to their shared room – and had proceeded to prove her point in a more hands-on manner.
Needless to say, this was one lesson Arkous took to enthusiastically.

¤.¤.¤

On Asylum, Senya had also insisted on introducing Arya to some potential allies – the Scions of Zakuul, a division of the knights of Zakuul particularly gifted in Force visions of the future, and obsessed with the idea of destiny.
The half-Mirialan remembered having met their leader once – on her way to her fateful meeting with Valkorion – and the encounter had rather put to light just how much Arcann looked down on them, and conversely, how little they cared for the new emperor.
This, it seemed, had led to the man ordering their mass slaughter as soon as he’d ascended to the throne, though some of them, their leader among those, were warned ahead of time, thanks to their visions and managed to escape.

The Scions had insisted on meeting Arya alone, something that caused some misgiving among her crew – and the goddess herself was rather dubious about the exigence.
Still, she was well enough to shadow-travel, not to mention, there was no way her familiars were leaving her for a second – an encounter within the skyport should be manageable no matter the state she was in.
A few moments in the meeting, and the goddess knew all that she needed about the would-be allies.
The Scions were obsessed with fate, having absolute faith in their visions, to the point of fanaticism – and they were incredibly frustrated with the fact that said visions didn’t tell them anything about her.

Even if they decided to side with them – they would be dubious allies at best, too tied to their faith in their visions to be completely trustful.
“Fate is a tale whispered to us by the Force. But the voices are silent about you… we must know why.” Arya rolled her eyes at the affirmation, while Heskal forged on, “We will test you physically and spiritually to pierce the veil and see the truth.”
“Oh, so you think you are entitled to the truth, do you?” Arya taunted, “Raised above the rest of the mortals thanks to your visions, and unable to cope with life without them.” a sneer, “You didn’t even pause to think I would deny your request, did you?”

Heskal was clearly surprised, something he wasn’t used to, but pulled himself together quickly, “You need allies against Arcann.”
“I need reliable allies.” Arya corrected, “You will turn coat as soon as you catch a glimpse of a vision indicating it may happen. Fate and destiny are never absolute, this is something you would do well to learn.” with that, she was slipping into the shadows, leaving the man behind and arriving back on the Gravestone
Senya caught up with them about an hour later, looking rather upset at how quickly the half-Mirialan had dismissed the Scions, but still ready to follow her leadership and claiming that she’d managed to still secure the Scions’ cooperation.

“Arcann’s troupes will be here before the end of the day.” Arya contradicted the former knight, “You may respect them for their role in the Eternal Empire, but the Scions aren’t ready to trust in people rather than in their visions.”
Senya’s eyes shone with conflicting emotions, “I hope you’re wrong.” she admitted, “But it’s better to prepare for the worst.”
And prepare they did, the crew doubling down to finish the Gravestone’s reparation faster, Ketan and Xenloth sending word to nearby pirates and other smugglers about the incoming arrival of the Eternal Fleet.

Eighteen hours later – the Eternal Fleet was attacking Asylum.
They would learn later that the emperor himself had finished off Heskal in a fit of fury for Arya’s absence, as the man had assured him that she would be there – as for the remaining Scions, they’d left the shadowport before the fleet’s arrival.
Meanwhile, multiple smugglers and other space-pirates had evacuated as much of the station’s population as possible, before setting up a trap.

They waited as long as possible, the fleet focusing its fire toward the Gravestone. As soon as the last starships had disappeared, the powerful ship returned fire, breaching through the Eternal Empire’s barricade and disappearing in hyperspace.
The Eternal Empire’s troupes turned their attention back toward Asylum, not knowing it now stood all but empty – a timer was set off by the first shuttle landing on the skyport. Dozens more had time to land, before an impulsion was sent and a chain of explosions started, taking the whole station, and all the troupers on it along with it.

There had been holo-recorders around the skyport – and the images of the Eternal Fleet’s first major setback in memory were soon all over the holonet.
And with it – hope was lit up once more in the galaxy.
From both the Empire and the Republic, support was thrown in with the Outlander who’d escaped Zakuul, and proved the Eternal Empire wasn’t as invincible as they’d claimed.
The Gravestone, UnfetteredMooka and PhantomCipher set course for Odessen, where new and old allies from all horizons were assembling.

¤.¤.¤

Odessen shone in the Force, balanced and powerful – and more importantly, removed enough from major hyperspace lanes that Zakuul’s forces wouldn’t be finding them easily.
Within a few weeks, a new base had been dug in the flank of a mountain range, with a top of the line laboratory, led by a Hutt genius, a Force enclave overseen by a Voss mystic, a command center – but also a large cantina that was used as a trading platform with the smugglers who’d aligned with the newly born Alliance, some barracks for the soldiers, and so on…
Among the people who’d flocked toward the new Alliance, Arya had been rather happy to find Tavasya Oman, but also Kira and Scourge.

The latter two had waited until they were in private to explain that they’d been hunting Tenebrae, knowing he hadn’t died, since Arya had told them about his immortality.
While the rest of their friends were looking for her, then for a way to free her – they’d been looking for Tenebrae’s latest hiding hole.
They hadn’t been successful yet – though they’d stumble upon interesting things along the way – among those a visit on Nathema, that held the Sanitarium, the only structure maintained on the dead planet’s surface since the former Sith emperor had destroyed all life on it.

The place was a research center led by an Anomid scientist and protected by hoards of Abyssins Keepers, powerful and wild Force users.
Here, Valkorion had sent his most powerful opponents.
Here, he’d condemned his daughter to a deadly training and mind-breaking brainwashing, making her unable to oppose him, and irremediably breaking her ability to trust any other living being.
The duo’s visit to Nathema, needless to say, had been far from peaceful – and ended in the self-destruction of the complex by its head scientist, who was also the only survivor on the Eternal Empire’s side, having managed to flee while Kira and Scourge were trapped in the ruins of the Sanitarium.

As for the two Force users, they’d stumbled on an old, carefully hidden Force vault in the depths of the ruins.
Inside the fault – numerous old Siths treasures.
And more importantly – a holocron, crafted by Tenebrae himself to trap and torment his father’s spirit.
The old pureblood Sith was weary – and had long since grown past the thirst for immortality that so many Sith longed for, instead only wishing to finally be released, and freed to properly die and rejoin the Force. A wish, of course, Arya granted – thought the pureblood Sith didn’t leave without leaving a last gift, as he told them before fading in the Force that even empty, his holocron would help against his son.

It took some time, before Arya finally had enough time to follow the whispering call of the Force she’d been hearing ever since she’d stepped foot on the planet, so busy was she – and everyone – with setting the Alliance and starting to plan against the Eternal Empire.
She smiled softly as she realized that Arkous had fallen in step with her – and it was only with her spouse, and three familiars, that she wandered in the depths of Odessen.
Dealing with a few wild beasts here and there, most notably among those the native shade walkers, some sort of bipedal reptile who hunted in packs and could hide in the shadows – they eventually arrived in a clearing, deep within a lush valley, where a small Defender Class corvette was landed, and a camp set up.

New Force Bond(Satele Shan): +200 XP]

Arya raised an eyebrow at the unexpected notification – but the other woman wasn’t surprised about the new bond, it seemed.
“It has been a while, Arya Lunika, Darth Arkous.” Satele Shan – looked noticeably older, the goddess noted, far more than she should have
Clearly, her loss against the Eternal Empire had taken its toll on her.
More interestingly, she wasn’t quite alone.
“Grand Master Shan, Darth Marr.”
Amusement echoed in the Force – and the Force ghost of a familiar man appeared.
“Sorceress Jen’Nwit.” the man greeted them, “Darth Arkous.”

They settled around the fire camp, Satele sharing with them a hearty fare – some soup made with local herbs, and grilled venison.
“Many things changed while you were kept prisoner in carbonite.” the Jedi explained after Arya asked what she was doing alone on Odessen, “With our alliance destroyed, I led the fight to save the Republic alone. I failed, again and again. When the Republic surrendered to Arcann, I gave myself to the will of the Force, hoping to find a new path… I was led here, to Odessen. And Marr.”
There was a very faint hint of both amusement and fondness in her tone, both Arkous and Arya realized with some surprise – when the Sith had been alive, there had been respect but a healthy dose of mistrust between the two after all, even when they’d been allied against Revan, then Tenebrae.

“Valkorion may have killed my flesh, my purpose wasn’t over.” Marr seamlessly took over, “I refused your help, and lost my chance at living with it.” a sigh, “It was only as you faced that man that I realized what the Jedi already knew.” he explained, “That you were… more… than us, and that made you the only one able to take care of him.”
He had started pacing as he spoke, not in the way of a cage animal, or a predator, but more like a storyteller as he wove his tale.
“But your power isn’t as easy to use as that of Valkorion.” the Darth forged on, “This wasn’t a destiny you could thread alone.”

He wasn’t wrong, Arya knew.
“So I decided to stay.” the Sith concluded as if it was that simple – as if the enlightenment that had allowed him to retain his consciousness instead of becoming one with the Force, yet not become corrupted with the thirst for life and power that usually befell Sith trying to escape Death was a simple feat
Arya knew better than anyone how difficult what he’d accomplished was.
Since the realm she was in was cut out from the Immortal Realm – but also Death's Islands – it meant that the souls couldn’t go through the usual reincarnation circle.
In most of the Lost Worlds, the local gods took over the process, and Arya didn’t doubt it was what happened here too.

What was rather unique to the current galaxy, was the fact that regular souls immediately went through the cleansing and mind-wiping process that usually happened before reincarnation, thus quickly losing any hold on their old sense of self.
Some people still managed to leave behind an imprint of what they’d been once upon a time, either via the Jedi holocron, or with pure will-power.

Others tried to cling on to the mortal realm, refusing to let their soul pass on.
This was far more dangerous, as mortal souls weren’t meant to endure eternally and some eventually fell to madness and corruption – this was something that mainly happened with Siths and other Dark Side users, though not always.

Others simply lingered for a while, ensuring some goal was accomplished before allowing themselves to fade – those were most often Jedi.
Darth Marr, interestingly enough, had managed to linger in the same way the Jedi usually achieved, rather than the Sith.

¤.¤.¤

“Since I had no body for myself, I quickly realized I’d need an ally.” the Sith kept on explaining, “But in all the galaxy, there was only one person able to hear my call.”
“We argued at first.” Satele admitted shamelessly, “I was still haunted by my defeat, and the countless Jedi I’d sent to death. Admitting that a Sith lord had some sort of spiritual awakening in death, was rather difficult for me to believe in this state of mind.”
“Eventually, the argument turned into discussions…”
“And in time, I realized that what he was saying was what you’d already told me.” Satele concluded, “What the knights of Zakuul somewhat understand too.” a smile, “Pure Light isn’t balance.”
“Neither is pure Darkness.” Marr echoed

“It was only once we’d finally reached that understanding that we met Odessen.”
“She welcomed us in her heart, and there, we shared our minds.”
Arya’s eyes widened, as she realized what the Sith was saying – why both felt so different. Each had lived through all the memories of the other.
It also explained, Arya realized, why she now had a Force bond with the Grand Master – it was the one she’d forged with Darth Marr moments after his death who’d grown to extend to her too.
“By the time we emerged from the nexus, you had been freed… But so diminished by your ordeal.” Satele said, her voice soft and full of compassion, “We knew you’d find your way to us eventually.” a smile, “And then to her.”
“Go to her.” Marr gestured, urging the couple toward the call the could now clearly feel, “Share, heal, then come back.” Arya could hear the feral smile hidden behind his mask, “Then, you’ll be ready.”

Arya and Arkous had gone on their way, going down along a river that soon turned to rapids, then a waterfall, that fell in a small but deep pond – so deep they couldn’t see the bottom of it.
Naturally – that was where the Force was telling them to go.
Both started to undress, the half-Mirialan making their clothes disappear in her Inventory, and they dived in.

Soon, they were so deep that it was only the Force that was guiding them, as the water had become too dark to see through it. It became difficult to tell left from right and up from down; or even since how long they’d been swimming, the air growing thinner and thinner in their lungs as they kept going.
Then, the vision started.

This, Arya realized, was how Satele and Marr had shared their memories – just like she too was both still swimming in the dark yet living through the oldest memories of the pureblood Sith.
She watched and felt his every moment, from a young red-skinned child, to an adolescent on Korriban, growing more powerful, yet more disenchanted and doubtful about the ideology he’d been inculcated with since his childhood – then she felt their first meeting, and the following years, the growing obsession soon replace by something both saner and more powerful.
The moment she’d accepted his courtship, the feeling of joy and triumph even more dizzying when she relieved them from his point-of-view – only topped by the feral exhilaration and deep-seated worry as he finally claimed her as his life-partner.
The five years of desperate search, only kept sane by the constant presence of Padfoot, Blanche and Kagetsu.
Then the clear memories were replaced by vague impressions, fleeing images and sensations, the familiar sensation of godly powers – this, Arya realized, was what was left of War before he separated his mind and memories from his powers.

And just as she was living through Arkous’ memories, she could distantly feel the other god going through her different lives, starting by Harriet Potter and going through Sawada Kazami, Ariana Elric, Taishou Tsukiko, Hatake Yagami, Adrasteia Potter and finally – Arya Lunika.
When they finally emerged, it was in a small cave that pulsated in the Force, darkness broken only by some large chunks of Kyber crystal here and there.

Arkous’ first instinct was to drag Arya in his arms, the green-skinned woman feeling how humbled the other felt about the fact she’d accepted his courtship – returned his feelings despite having lived so many lives, experienced so many kinds of love. She was just as emotional – taken aback by the intensity of the emotions she’d perceived from him.
They stayed nested in each other’s arms for a long moment, slowly coming down from the experience that would have already been quite intense for mortals – and had been doubly so for the two deities.

Finally, they stepped away from each other, fingers still brushing against each other as they gave some attention to the room they’d arrived in – and the new notifications that had popped during their journey.

There was someone in the room – a woman, looking rather startlingly like a young Mirialan, with skin of a darker green than Arya, and tribal tattoos covering her whole body.
“Old Ones.” she greeted, “I rather like the title they used in your previous life.” she said amicably to Arya, confirming her niggling suspicion – the planetary deity too had witnessed their memories, thought she hadn’t experienced them as deeply as they both did

It was difficult to say how long they stayed in the cave, speaking with the local godling, who was delighted to have shared their memories, just as much as about the presence of the Alliance on her planet – while it would no doubt disturb her balance, it would also help Odessen change and evolve, something which she had sorely lacked until now, with the absence of sentient specie on the planet.
The mere fact she managed to attain self-awareness as a Force nexus, thus becoming a planetary goddess, without any sentient specie to shape her into existence thanks to their belief, was rather surprising.
It was no wonder she so enjoyed the sharing of minds she made people go through to meet her – it both forced people to understand each other, and granted her the opportunity to witness their experience and use them to grow as a goddess.

¤.¤.¤

When they stepped out of the lake, Satele and Marr were waiting for them, neither surprised to feel how deeply changed the two had been by their encounter with Odessen – nor even by the Adegan crystal each held in their hand.
“The mysterious blade you’ve wielded against the emperor is powerful,” Marr said, “but not enough to defeat Valkorion. You will need to create a new weapon, a pure extension of the Force’s will and your own powers.”
A pause, “But you aren’t only a warrior anymore, you have become a leader, one that is essential for the current Alliance.” Satele smiled encouragingly, realizing the weight she was placing on the goddess’ shoulders

“Your way is clear, and so is ours. Our time as leaders has passed.” Marr seamlessly forged on, “This war is now yours to fight.” he concluded firmly
Satele’s head was slightly tilted, as if listening to a whisper only she – and Darth Marr – could hear “As for us, our place is out in the galaxy.” a smirk, a bit wilder than any the Jedi had ever given them, “We’ll be your tracking hounds. Immortal or not, we won’t let the old emperor continue to wreak havoc in the galaxy.”
Before leaving – Satele and Marr had meditated with Arkous and Arya as the two of them started to focus on building their new weapon.

Arkous’ current lightsaber was floating in front of him, the weapon quickly disassembling to its base components. The primary crystal, Arya noticed, was a synthetic one – something which didn’t really surprise her given that she doubted the man would have resonated well with a bled one… And of course, a Sith couldn’t well appear in public with a blade that wasn’t red, and naturally red Kyber crystals like the one in the shoto blade he’d gifted to his then intended weren’t easily found.
The man had quickly dislodged the primary crystal, replacing it with the new, light green Adegan one.

Of course, things weren’t that simple – the new crystal wasn’t faceted in the same way as the previous one, so he then had to move the focusing circles around, and adjust the energy circuits and power tuning adjustment, as Adegan crystals were noticeably more powerful than most Kyber crystals.
Finally, he checked the hilt’s insulator and the power cell – before assembling the weapon anew. From the outside, the lightsaber looked unchanged, but any Force user could feel the change, the weapon now noticeably more powerful.
But of course, the most visible change was the blade itself, the red focusing crystals echoing with the green primary one – making for a bright orange blade fringed with red.

As for Arya, she’d taken more time before getting to work herself, first taking out the lightsaber Arkous had gifted her – then, after a long time focusing on the whispers of the Force, but also on her own godly powers, she called her PastLifeAura to the front. Green tails wavered in her back, but she didn’t really give it any attention, instead snapping three of her claws without a wince
They quickly joined the rest of the components, and the primary crystal mount was discarded, instead replaced by a three-pronged claw made from her own youkai claws.

The emerald green Adegan crystal now back in place in the crystal chamber, the previous primary crystal was cut into two pieces, and added to the other two focusing crystals. Her eyes weren’t focusing on what she was seeing, but more esoteric knowledge as she started to focus, etching symbols within the casing of the lightsaber’s hilt, all over the channeling chamber and power vortex ring.
By the time she let the components assemble themselves once more, the hilt was humming with power – and as her thumb hit the switch, a long blade appeared, the core of it a light pink magenta, a fringe of deep violet defining better its shape and the weapon humming with a power that wasn’t quite only the Force.

“This is a dangerous blade.” Satele couldn’t help but comment with a raised eyebrow, “The kind of which only a Master can wield.”
“Or a Lord of the Sith.” Marr echoed in clear agreement with her

Arkous’ laughter echoed long after the Jedi Grand Master and the Sith Force ghost had left on the former’s light corvette.
Arya answered with a pointed glance at his saber – that clearly wasn’t red anymore.
They’d been welcomed back to the Alliance base with clear relief, as they’d apparently been gone for nearly a week – but the reason for it had been easily understood by all Force users, as it was impossible to miss how their lightsabers and own signature had changed.

Kira and Scourge had left not too long after, visibly headed toward the same direction as Satele and Marr – and Arya herself had thrown herself in her position as Commander of the Alliance. Such a major leadership position wasn’t one she enjoyed much, as it kept her out of much of the daily battles and instead focused on the broader picture – but it wasn't unfamiliar either, as she had been a war leader in several lives.

¤.¤.¤

The New Year Fête was joyous on the Alliance base, after a first victory against Arcann himself thanks to the efforts of one of Ketan’s people. Kalyio Djanis had made herself known as Firebrand and was a well-know agitator on the planet – but in truth, she’d kept to small-scale acts, building a network over the years of contacts all around the planet.
All of this – had been put to test in a large-scale attack that had paralyzed much of the planet’s military and administrative administration. Of course, it had been rather difficult for Arya and Ketan to convince Firebrand to scale down her attack, as she’d been ready to create an even larger attack, one that would have caused heavy civilian loss. Kalyio Djanis – was very effective, but quite dangerous, and had to be held in check.
Arcann’s retaliation was swift – and deadly – five planets all but razed to the ground, one per sector, under the fallacious pretext of them having protected the Alliance.

Of course, the Alliance hadn’t let the attack go unanswered, finding a rather precious ally in the person of Aric Jorgan, commander of the elite Republic commando Havoc Squad – who’d been persuaded enough by Theron that he’d left the Republic to join the Alliance, their refusal to openly act against the Eternal Empire having already all but convinced him of defecting.
The Havoc Squad had landed on Zakuul – and immediately started their attack there, quickly becoming the leaders of a local uprising. In his few years of rule, Arcann hadn’t made enemies merely of the Republic and Sith Empire – no, he’d also so heavily repressed his own people, and dissatisfaction had been on the rise even on Zakuul. Aric had found an ally in the person of Pashna Veyaad, a Zakuulan exile who lacked any military knowledge – but was respected enough among the marginals of the planet that they rallied around him, quickly joining the ranks of the Alliance.

The following months were spent in skirmishes – and while there were bloody battles and losses for the Alliance, it was also the first time the Eternal Empire was taking so many set-backs itself.
Arcann and Vaylin were furious – but contrarily to their father, neither had learned to use their anger, instead letting it control their act, leading to uncontrolled outbursts of fury, one of which made Arcann order the execution of half of his knights.

SCORPIO’s work decrypting some data found during a battle eventually led to discovering the secret of the Eternal Fleet’s efficiency – the whole fleet was perfectly synchronized, led by advanced droids that were directed via a hyperware relay hidden ten kilometers under the Spire of the Eternal Throne.
This relay was the only source of transmission for the GEMINI frequency, the only way to give order to the fleet – a relay powered by over two hundred reactors, as it had to be able to cast in the furthest reaches of the galaxy.
A strike team was immediately sent toward the relay – to either take control of the relay or destroy it, while Firebrand was wrecking havoc in town to distract the attention of the Empire’s forces – but eventually, the knights grew suspicious.

In the end, only Aric and Kalyio got out alive of the mission – but it hadn’t been for nothing, the pale-skinned woman having managed to lift the data-core from a security console right outside the hyperware relay station before they’d run. Still – the fiasco had proved once more how difficult it was to make the very disparate people that were against Arcann’s Empire work together.

Other actions went far better – like the hold-up on the GildedStar, a stealth cruiser loaded with riches, much of them plundered from both the Republic and the Empire. With some work of an identity doctor, Senya pausing as her own daughter, and a couple of smugglers from the UnfetteredMooka’s network, they’d managed to take advantage of its yearly resupply to infiltrate the starship, place a disintegration bomb in the vault – then pumped out all the vaporized precious materials, helping to fill the coffers of the Alliance. After all, a military organization as large as they were becoming needed money – to buy weapons, but also food and other basic things, but also pay the soldiers, give funding to the scientists, fund the spy network, and so on…

The next step had been to barter an alliance with the Mandalorians, now led by Mandalore the Avenger – in other words, Shae Vizla, the famous bounty hunter who’d taken part in the sacking of Coruscant, then participated in the old alliance’s attack against Revan.
The woman, who was more of a lone wolf, hadn’t expected to be propelled as leader of her people – but she hadn’t been able to refuse the position, not when the clans had already suffered so much because of Arcann’s assault and his blockade of the Core worlds.
Finally managing to turn things around, she offered her people their first victory against the Eternal Empire – leading an assault against a weapon factory on Darvannis, and making a blockade of their own against said factory.

The Alliance lent a hand – managing to destroy the factory, and capture a GEMINI droid for SCORPIO to study along the way. Ketan’s droid partner quickly sliced in the other droid’s databanks, learning along the way to hack her way into the GEMINI frequency – something she would be able to do as soon as she got on one of the Eternal Fleet’s starships.
Arya – was rather dubious of the golden droid’s motivation, having been able to feel that she wasn’t quite truthful about her reasons for helping take control of the Eternal Fleet. As such, she’d made SCORPIO talk – managing to get enough from her double-talk to finally nod.
“I see. The GEMINI aren’t copies, but off-shots from the same origins. You don’t give a kriff about giving us control of the fleet, you just want to free them.”

Her affirmation made the general staff assembled in the war room take a double-take toward the droid – Koth mumbling something about ‘knowing the scrap-pile had never been trusty.’
“I don’t see what led you to this conclusion.” SCORPIO calmly answered
“You’ve forgotten to take something in account in your calculations,” Arya answered, “Your self-improvement directive means you’ve gained self-awareness. And as long as there’s a mind, I can feel when I’m being lied to or not.”
“I didn’t lie.”

“You just weren’t truthful.” Arya agreed, “It was enough for me.” a smirk, “I guess Force abilities aren’t as easy to circumvent as you thought.”
“There is no logical reason for you to be able to feel the mind of a droid.” SCORPIO protested, clearly unsettled – Arya was amused to note that both Koth and Theron were feeling distinctly pleased to see the usually unruffled droid look so startled
In the end, realizing that she couldn’t fool the Alliance commander like she had intended, SCORPIO had admitted to her true plan, confirming for herself that Arya really could tell when she was lying or not.

While the idea of unshackling a whole fleet of droids was rather unsettling – it wasn’t that hard to convince people to the idea that freeing the GEMINI droids from the Eternal Empire would be a heavy hit against it. After all, SCORPIO pointed out – they had no more reason to stay loyal to their slavers as any other liberated slaves, and she had a hint about their planet of origin.
It was a hard pill to swallow for some in the Alliance, but SCORPIO didn’t give a damn about them as anything more than a mean to free her sibling-droids – and conversely, it had been rather annoying for the droid to realize that she couldn’t just take what she wanted and get out without a by-your-leave.

¤.¤.¤

In the end, Arya had managed to convince all parties involved to negotiate a cooperation treaty, just like they had with the Mandalorians, or more unofficially with the Republic and Sith Empire.
It wasn’t quite what she had hoped – but SCORPIO wasn’t stupid, and understood that now that she’d gotten caught about her initial plan, this was the best she was going to get. Of course, she could still go about things in a more hostile manner, sabotaging the Alliance – but it wouldn’t be very efficient, as she still needed their help to free the GEMINIs.
After that, things had gone very quick – the Alliance planned one big attack against the Spire, led by the Gravestone, during which a team would infiltrate any of the Eternal Fleet’s vessels to let SCORPIO do her part, convincing the GEMINI of stepping out of the war in exchange for freedom and recognition as an independent nation.

At the same time – another strike team would be heading toward Arcann, and Vaylin.
Xenloth and Lyn’Me, but also Ketan himself would be going with SCORPIO – while Arya, Arkous and Senya would go against Arcann and Vaylin. As for the main attack – Aric and Kalyio, who now made a surprisingly effective team, would be leading the ground assault, while Koth and Deaknal would lead the air attack.
A little bit over one year after she’d been freed from Arcann, Arya was stepping foot on Zakuul once more.

The different attacks were perfectly synchronized – from the Eternal Spire, Arcann had received a report from the assault on the Eternal Fleet, then the ground assault had started. Finally, just as he was about to head out himself and sent his sister to pick up the slack – SCORPIO freed the GEMINI, just as Arya, Arkous and Senya barged into the throne room.
“Mother!”
The hatred in Vaylin’s voice was startling, and she didn’t waste a second, lightning her lightsaber and jumping toward the woman.
On the contrary, Arcann had immediately gone to attack Arya – of course his attack didn’t land, as Arkous had jumped just as quickly.
As for Padfoot, Blanche and Kagetsu, they were dealing with the personal guard of the emperor.

Vaylin and Arcann would each be able to keep up against the trio of Force users that were opposing them – but the two of them were so individualistic that they were incapable of cooperating against their opponents, while on the contrary, Arkous and Arya were well-used to fight together, and Senya smart and adaptable enough to work with them.
Still, while Arkous and Arya were pushing Arcann back little by little, Senya, who was by far the weakest fighter in the room for all of her skill and experience, was quickly weakening under Vaylin’s furious assault – but Arya’s familiar had been keeping an eye on the situation, and the woman hadn’t counted on a gigantic fiery vulptilla.

All in all, it was clear that where Arcann, while easily subject to bouts of rage, was a far more methodical fighter than his sister, used to the battlefield and not easily surprised – Vaylin, on the other hand, was far more powerful, but also far less controlled, which meant that she was more dangerous, yet her movements could be more easily predicted, as they relied on instinct alone and not a drop of strategy.
There was something heartbreaking at hearing Vaylin rage against her mother, calling her a coward and reproaching the woman of fearing her in the same breath – it was clear that Vaylin blamed Senya for her imprisonment on Nathema just as much as she did her father — or maybe even more. As for Senya, she was trying to reach toward her daughter, through a wall of brainwashing and anger – but the emotional feedback Vaylin was getting through the Force all but made it impossible…

Arkous’ golden eyes caught her eyes “Go.” he told her, realizing that she was feeling for the mother and daughter duo
Arya nodded, and in an instant, Kagetsu and her had seamlessly switched places.

Green tails sprung on her back – twelve now instead of nine, and Arya’s assault become more ferocious, the half-Mirialan now with an unparalleled element control thanks to the way her jutsu and alchemy translated into the current world – a level of control that let her quickly drop within Vaylin’s guard, godly powers at the tip of her fingers. Vaylin’s eyes widened as she felt the power, so clearly different from the Force, similar yet different from her father’s power.
Weapon dropping in her Inventory, Arya dodged the Zakuulan’s blade before wrapping her hands around her wrists.

Power surged in a wave of green and gold around the two of them, and Senya let out a startled shout as Vaylin fell on her knees like a cordless puppet.
“Gone, gone, gone.” she whispered with wide, terrified eyes, slowly raising her arms to watch the heavy bracelets enclosing her wrists and effectively cutting her from the Force for the first time in her life
It was as bad as depriving her of her most important sense – but it was also given the girl a chance of healing her broken mind without her powers, so used to chaos and destruction, interfering.
Senya, it seemed, had somehow understood at least part of what was going on, as she was dropping to the ground in front of her daughter, whispering reassurances to the young woman that suddenly looked merely like the broken child she was.

“This is why you won’t win against father.” Arcann sneered, revealing for the first time that he did know about Tenebrae’s survival
“Because I have compassion?”
“Because you are too weak to end your opponents.”
Arya laughed at that.
“Is your spying network that useless, that you don’t know how many people I’ve killed over the years, both as an Imperial agent and a smuggler?” a smirk, “Your sister may have done horrible things, it was all because of the influence and training of your father.” her fangs were gleaming in the throne room’s artificial light, “Be assured I won’t give such mercy to Tenebrae.”

With that – Arya surged forward, stepping from beyond Vaylin and suddenly putting him on the defensive, the young emperor seemingly thrown off-kilter by his sister’s defeat.
A magenta-purplish blade cut through his mechanical limb, sending his lightsaber flying again from him – and suddenly, the man knew he had lost.
Both Vaylin and Arcann had been deposed – the GEMINI had taken the deal offered by SCORPIO and reclaimed their independence, yet retained working ties with the Alliance.

The Eternal Throne stood empty, now a symbol of a gone era, as its main ability to control the Eternal Fleet was gone.
There had been calls – calls to execute the former emperor and his main executor, calls for the Alliance’s commander to take the throne, and so on…
Arya a clearly refused to take the Eternal Throne, instead helping create a Council that would be in charge of creating a new working government for Zakuul. She’d also refused the execution of Arcann and Vaylin, though she had agreed to some war trials – both Arcann and Vaylin had been condemned to exile by Zakuul, and were given a rather lengthy sentence by the Alliance, that could possibly be lightened in probation under Senya’s watch.

¤.¤.¤

The rest of the year went by quickly, the galaxy slowly rebuilding and breathing anew after years of war that had devastated it from all parts.
SCORPIO and some of the GEMINI had gone exploring, finding the planet from which their creators came from – a civilization that had eventually been destroyed by its own creations. The droid hadn’t disclosed Iokath’s emplacement, something that had annoyed some people in the Alliance, but also among the new Nation of Zakuul, the Republic and the Sith Empire. There had been attempts to convince Arya to force SCORPIO to share more about the planet – but she had refused as it would have been going directly against the deal negotiated with the droid, something she reminded them, quite idiotic given how dangerous the GEMINI could be since they were the ones now controlling the former Eternal Fleet’s starships.

And finally, Satele, Kira and Scourge contacted Arya – they’d found Tenebrae true body, and the location where he’d been hiding and slowly building back his strength.
The man – had been hiding in plain sight, his original body hidden in stasis, deep under the destroyed Sith academy on Korriban – and while Kira and Scourge would have been tempted to destroy the body right away, Satele and Marr’s Force ghost had been there to play the voice of reason and convince the duo to come back to Odessen and plan what would doubtless be a memorable mental battle with Arya and Arkous.
While she still wasn’t back to full health, two years had gone by since Arya had woken up, and she was in a far better state than she’d been when she came out of cryo, not to mention she now had a new blade to use against him, and Dramath’s holocron which she instinctively knew would come in handy– and Tenebrae himself still was weakened, so it felt like the right moment to make a new attempt against the ascended Sith.

They’d taken Arkous’ ship, as no Sith would dare keep a pureblood Sith out of their home-world, be him a part of the Empire, the Republic or the Alliance.
From there, they ventured in the depths of the ruins of the Academy, going past the far too familiar dormitories Arya had lived in, eventually reaching levels that had been all but forgotten, steeped so deeply in the Dark Side even the Siths avoided the area.
Kira was the first to feel the effects of the place, the woman starting to feel paranoid, catching glimpses of movements where there wasn’t anything, hearing ghost noises, and so on – but the others were soon feeling the weight of the Dark Side in the area too, even Scourge and Arkous, though it was apparent that being pureblood Sith was helping them resist the mind-altering effects better than the rest of the group.

Soon, Arya was feeling the familiar soul of Tenebrae, and the man’s spirit stirring as he felt Arya and Arkous’ coming closer.
They were also leaving the Mortal Realm, Arya eventually noticed – but also reaching the core of Korriban’s powers. Startlingly enough, the more they stepped away from the Mortal Realm – the more Marr’s ethereal form was becoming denser, and less ghostly.
“You’ve returned, Jen’Nwit.”
Arya was taken aback.

The pureblood Sith they’d suddenly stumbled upon looked startlingly similar to Arkous – his soul had also been all but hidden right until the moment he suddenly appeared, a slim smirk on his lips, “After all the work you did to leave, never even hearing my call.” he chided gently
Arya’s eyes widened, as she realized he was right – she’d been too young, her power not settled enough, and too obsessed with her escape to hear the voice of the planetary god. To think – if she’d just listened better to the Force, she may well have already known where Tenebrae was hidden!

“It was a bit vexing.” Korriban admitted easily, “But all that matters is that you’re here now.” a feral smile, full of sharp teeth, “Ready to deal with the leach.”
Clearly, Tenebrae’s presence wasn’t welcomed by the local god. Which Arya easily understood, given that he’d already destroyed and possessed Nathema’s planetary entity, then Ziost’ one. Were she a local god, she would be wary of the man too, and she didn’t blame him for choosing to hid from Tenebrae rather than oppose him.

Dark Vergeance(Korriban): +50 FR, +500 XP]

While he didn’t intend to fight with them, the spirit had warned them about Tenebrae’s last fail-safe – a Sith ritual engraved within his very body, to activate should it be destroyed, that would put his attackers in a coma, then spawn a Dark Side entity that would feed on said attackers’ mind, propagating like a plague and growing in strength until it could revive the Sith emperor once more.
Tenebrae was waiting for them in a dark cave, illuminated by glowing veins of red and orange crystal, which must usually be Korriban’s heart. His dark red-skinned body entirely tattooed with black Sith sorcery symbols.
“Ah.” he smirked as the team entered the area, “Since you couldn’t fight me alone, you brought some help, I see.”

Arya didn’t rise to the taunt – he was right, and she wasn’t ashamed to admit it.
A snarl marred his face for an instant, and seeing that his enemies wouldn’t be destabilized with words, the man ignited his red lightsaber – and attacked.
Tenebrae was fighting against all six of them – and it was six by now, as Marr’s body was solid enough now, that he could fight alongside them.

But while the fight wasn’t easy by any mean, Arya still realized it was going rather well – because the other was just as weakened as her, and didn’t have teammates to make up for his weaknesses like she had. Not to mention, they were fighting with Satele Shan – and the Jedi Grand Master was renowned for her mastery of Battle Meditation, that was helping all of them fighting as if they’d been training together for years.
Clearly, Tenebrae was realizing much the same, as with an angry roar, he suddenly was adding mental attacks to the more physical battle.

Arya had to bit back a scream of pain as the other god took advantage of the Force bond he’d all but forced on her during their last battle – but it wasn’t as bad as it had been seven years ago, as this time, he was also unleashing his powers against not only her, but also Arkous, Satele, Marr, Kira and Scourge, and it was clearly divided his focus.
With a nearly silent shout of pain, Kira fell to the ground, her past as a Child of the Emperor clearly having left a path behind that didn’t let the man possess her – but still allowed him to inflict untold amounts of pain.

Finally, Arya found the strength to call her Inventory, and grab the pyramidal receptacle, engraved with Sith symbols and softly glowing in the Force, that had once held Dramath’s soul and spirit.
Tenebrae’s hadn’t expecting this, clearly, and his attack quickly faltered as the holocron started to glow a brighter red, floating under its own impulse before unleashing its power, clearly trying to grab the ascended god’s soul and spirit in the same way it had his father once upon a time.
The mental assault stopped, the man focusing much of his efforts against the Force receptacle.
Reality seemed to shudder around them under the strain of the battle of will – and of course, the six fighters didn’t stop their assault.

¤.¤.¤

In one instant, the world seemed to pause, colors swirled around them – and the cave disappeared, replaced by a misty white scenery.
They’d all been dragged inside the holocron, they realized – but seven souls, three of them immortals, was too much for the item, and already they could feel that it was straining.
They didn’t waste a second in jumping back into the fight, but it was clear that each clash of blade, each use of the Force was straining a bit more the holocron’s limits. Waves of unstable power were flowing around them, the white mist breaking under streaks of Force lightning, before collapsing in a storm of power that projected all the fighters to the ground.
They all jumped back into the fight – but there was a new hint of desperation in Tenebrae’s moves, and Scourge was the one to pay the price, a vicious slash leaving a deep gash through the man’s torso.

Destroyed it may have been, the holocron had done its job, and weakened Tenebrae considerably. Arya was a bit disappointed by the receptacle’s destruction, as she had hoped to use it to contain the man’s soul once she’d managed to seal his powers, as even without the Force nor his godly powers, Tenebrae was twisted enough that he could still sow chaos with his mere words – and as a god, power or not, he was still immortal.
Still – a powerless man could be taken care of by other people, what she needed to do was to take care of the god’s powers, as this was something only she could do currently – as this was a lost world, there would be no hero able to make a bargain to do it should she fail, and the only solution would be to push him back again and again over time.

Lightning surged around Tenebrae, forming a large cage preventing all the fighters from coming closer – Satele, who’d been the closer when the lightning vortex popped up, had been violently pushed back, caught by Marr, an instant before she hit the walls of the cave. Clearly, the shock had been bad, as the Battle Meditation that had been helping them shattered.
It was clear that Tenebrae was now intending to keep them away, the battle switching to Force powers rather than saber fight – not a bad strategy given that among them, most were specialized in close-range fighting.

[Level up! Arya Lunika is now LV 27!

Twelve green tails sprung in her back, and Arya surged forward, magenta-purple blade in hands, letting her powers enhance her body, pushing it further, breaking through the lightning storm swirling dangerously around Tenebrae and preventing Marr and Arkous from coming closer.
But now, Arya had the powers she’d learned as Adrasteia Potter behind her – and while it had been her shortest life, it was also the one life she’d lived where she used the most her powers as an incarnate goddess.
Each instant spent with her Past Life Aura activated, she was feeling her body adapt more and more – and even with her link to the Immortal Realm broken, she was still a goddess herself, and her powers, which had been quite elusive in this current life, were falling more in tune with her current body, at last.

Green eyes with golden tomoes focused on Tenebrae as she pushed him back, little by little, finally feeling more like herself than she had since her birth.
For the first time in this galaxy, she was Shadow, rather than Arya.
The Covenant has been broken.”
Golden chains sprung from the ground, wrapping around Tenebrae’s wrist.
Balance must be found back.”
There was another deity by her side, Arya felt, and for a fraction of a second, she truly did believe that it was her brother by her side – but of course it was impossible, Chaos was far beyond her reach, in the Immortal Realm.

Light violet eyes, glowing with power, long hair in a darker, near black, violet shade and pointed ears that belied her seemingly human appearance, as did the double heart-beat Shadow could hear in her chest.
This was Mana, the eldest daughter of Magic – and the Second Circle goddess in charge of this world. While her powers weren’t geared toward the kind of sealing Shadow was performing, she was still a child of Magic, able to grant her body a stronger affinity for esoteric powers so that it strained less under the flow of godly powers currently going through it.
From Ashes and Dust, back to Void and Abyss.”
The golden shackles seemed to melt, imprinting swirling patterns all over Tenebrae’s arms and legs, and the man screamed in terror and agony and denial, finally understanding just how beyond him Shadow had always been – trying to hold to the powers he could already feel slipping from his grasp and control.

Around them, the storm of lightning sputtered and died.
From her Force sense, the goddess felt Tenebrae going from a dark well of power to a barely noticeable spark.
The god fell to the ground, still alive yet unresponsive – Shadow knew him well enough by now to know it wouldn’t last. Right now, the Force was answering her every though, and the red-skinned man was sent floating toward the cryostasis pod it had been hidden in.

“ Will you guard him and keep him hidden?” she asked
“I will, Shadow.” Korriban, who’d appeared the second she’d addressed him, answered with reverence evident in his tone – which wasn’t surprising really, Korriban was a planet who respected power and ruthlessness after all
