chapter 10

The next morning, Draco is waiting for Thor in front room. He had again decided to wear Loki’s clothes again. He had worn the ring Loki gave him. The ring had green gemstone sat on the golden throne. The band was silver with Loki’s runes on it. It was so beautiful. Loki had given him after the year he met his mother. Loki had explained Draco about the significance of the ring. About how the runes will protect him. The ring would connect them, but right now he felt coldness at the end of the link. He does not know what that means.

“Are you ready, Brother Draco?” Thor asked as he knocked on the chamber doors. Draco sighed.

Yes, he is ready to finally get answers. Yesterday was torture. He couldn’t sleep, couldn’t think clearly. After returning to Loki’s chambers he find out that Eirherjar couldn’t actually see the rooms. They could only feel it. Even Odin could not see them. That suddenly made a lot of sense when he saw the rooms had not been cleaned. It made Draco sad too, that Loki felt so unsafe here in Asgard that he Fidelius equivalent charm on his room. The only people he trusted could enter. Apparently, Thor can.

Draco quickly checked if he was presentable enough, he walked out of the front room and saw Thor waiting for him. He had worn his signature colour Tunic along with minimal amount of armour which looked to be for accessorize purposes.

“Lead the way, Prince Thor” Draco said.

The walk to the throne room seemed like he was walking for years. He walked behind Thor, he appear to be shifty. As if some thing was bothering or that he could not stand the silence. Draco knew from Loki’s stories that Thor was always boisterous and certainly a joy to be around. Yesterday, also Thor was the perfect picture of the sun. yet, today it seemed that he was dejected. Draco decided to ignore it for now, his mind to occupied by Odin’s cryptic nature.

As they reached the grand doors of the Throne room, two of the Eirherjar opened them.

The room was large and golden. Absolutely everything was golden. It was too gaudy for Draco’s taste, it seems that Asgardians were not upto the fashion. Heh. There was a grand staircase leading upto the throne, where Odin sat. with his Gungnir. Was Draco to be prosecuted for something?

Thor knelt his one knee to greet the King and bowed his head. Odin turned to Draco, expecting him to do the same. When Draco did not move from his place, he narrowed his eyes at him.

“Rise, Thor. You may leave now.” Odin said. His voice was booming yet it was not loud.

“Actually, I would prefer it if he stayed here.” Draco said sweetly. Turning his head towards Thor he blinked and made his eyes go round.

“Very well, Brother Draco.” Thor said, before Odin could even get out a word. Draco smirked internally when saw irritation flashed across his eyes. So, Odin was hiding something from Thor and he very clearly did not want him to know.

“Well, where is Loki?” it feels like he has been asking this question for thousandth time.

Odin sighed and started telling him about how Loki ruined Thor’s coronation by inviting Frost giants in to palace. How he goaded Thor into a war with Frost giants and took him to Jotunheim even Odin explicitly said ‘no’ and how at the last moment he had save them. When Odin banished Thor to Midgard how Loki took over the Kingship and manipulated Thor to not ever come back to Asgard, when he fell into Odinsleep. How he sent the destroyer to the earth in order to assassinate the Crown Prince and then how warriors three and Sif went there to fight him and how he staged the frost giants to come here to steal the casket of winters when in true he had just wanted to kill Laufey and whole of Jotunheim.

And finally how at the end Thor stopped the complete destruction of Jotunheim by breaking the Bifrost and then how Loki let go of Thor’s hands and fell into the void. Heimdall’s sight cannot look in to void between the realms and hence they cannot find him. They are not sure if he is alive or not.

Odin took a deep breath after his story telling and Thor closed his eyes at the mention of Loki falling into the void as if he was still mourning. Draco could not help but snort.

Draco started laughing when he saw surprise on Thor’s face and irritation on Odin’s.

“Brother Draco?” Thor asked, concerned for Draco’s sanity.

“Are you doubting the truth, boy?” Odin asked loudly.

“Oh, Merlin.” Draco said as he wiped the tears from his eyes with his fingers. “No, No I believe you. I just do not believe that he is dead.” He chuckled again.

“Loki fell into the void, no one ever comes out of there alive.” Odin said frustratingly.

“Well, not everyone is Loki.” He said faintly, his gaze focused behind the throne. There was something Odin was eliminating in his telling of the events. He never said why Loki let go.

“If, Thor had a strong grip on him, and you seem to say no one ever comes back from the void, certainly he knows that, then why did he let go?” Draco asked irately. All trace of laughter left his face. His eyes alight with Fire. The room rose in temperature as if matching Draco’s anger.

Thor looked embarrassedly at Draco but he was focused on Odin. Either Odin did not realize in temperature or he simply did not care.

“Loki thought that by killing Laufey I would reward him by making him the King of Asgard, I just told him No” Odin replied.

If it was possible the room temperature rose several degrees higher.

“While he was dangling?” Draco sneered.

“Brother Draco, it was my fault.” Thor said slowly, enunciating his each word.

Draco turned towards Thor, Fire dancing on his fingers as if he was ready to burn down the room. Then he seemed to realize something else, and he turned towards Odin again.

“Why don’t you tell the whole truth, Odin?” he said scathingly. He would like nothing better than to strangle Odin. Odin looked at Draco angrily.

“I said the whole truth.” He scoffed.

“Then, why don’t you enlighten Thor and I about how you fell into Odinsleep after banishing him to Midgard, out of schedule, mind you.” He said.

He said nothing. Just keep glaring at Draco.

“Brother Draco, what are you talking about?” Thor asked perplexed.

“Yes, Loki told me.” Odin widened his eyes slightly. “Loki had told me everything he was going to do but he certainly didn’t expected to find that secret that shattered his illusion” he said harshly.
“What illusion? What secret?” Thor asked again.

“Your Brother, My Loki is a Frost Giant.” Draco said with lastly.

“What?” Thor said faintly, as if Draco had said nastiest thing he could. But with all the prejudice he had for Jotuns, which only due to Jane was lessened. Draco could understand his disbelief. He turned towards Thor.

“Loki came to me after your battle with Jotunheim. One of the giant had touched his hand and it turned blue he was so terrified. When you were banished, he went to vaults and touched the casket of winters, which shattered his illusions he had subconsciously conjured when he was a baby. Odin, here came and told him the truth about his birth. Naturally he felt betrayed. When he asked him why he didn’t say the truth from the start he cooked up some bullshit about saving Loki from himself. But obviously Loki knew better. He knew he was just a pawn in Odin’s game. Another stolen relic he had said, to maybe bring peace in future. When he demanded the truth Odin fell into Odinsleep. Loki came to me and showed me his Jotun Form. He also told me what he wanted to do further but falling into the void was never the part of plan. Odin betrayed him again on the bridge when he said ‘no’.” He explained. “And He cannot die, he can walk between the realms, sky-walker, he calls himself. So, no I won’t believe he is dead Odin” he said the last part and walked out of the room. Leaving Thor and Odin wide eyed.
