Gryfindor Party
“Reg, Come on we are gonna be late!” Pandora yells from where she is draped on her brother, Evan.
Regulus rolls his eyes and leaves the bathroom. His black curls defined and his usual formal ensemble changed with a white button up half tucked into dark blue bell bottom jeans Sirius had gotten him when Remus took him to the shops in his hometown, Beaconsfield.
“Okay, let’s go then.” Regulus says with a sigh and walks out of his dorm with the Rosier twins in tow. Barty wouldn't be able to come because he had gotten detention again and Dorcas was most likely already there with Marlene.
Pandora was wearing a purple cloth dress with patches all on it and Evan was wearing a green shirt tied into a crop with green pants. Both of their blonde dyed hair was in braids, Pandoras longer and thicker than Evan.
Once they had made the walk to Gryfindor tower, Regulus was immediately regretting it. Loud music and even louder laughs came from behind the door.
“Come on!” Pandora exclaimed, pulling both boys in after saying the password.
Once they walked in they were greeted with a drunk James and Sirius dancing on the tables in the common room. Spanish music filled the air and Regulus knew Sirius didn't understand a word, James on the other hand? Oh James was dancing like it was his last dance.
Marlene and Dorcas were dancing what looked to be the salsa (Dorcas dancing the masculine role but basically just getting dragged by Marlene), Lily and Mary were dancing together as well. Remus was laughing at Sirius and Peter was playing bartender.
The rest of the Gryfindor house was just trying to keep up.
Pandora and Evan ran away to go dance while Regulus walked to Remus. Remus gave him a small smile before looking back at his lover.
“Good evening Regulus. Did you just get here?” Remus said loudly.
Regulus, speaking equally loudly, responded a few moments after, “Yes. This isn't what I thought this party was gonna be.”
Remus snickered before saying, “Well James wouldn't go to a party if they didn't play his music. So Peter brought a record of Los Panchos from James mum’s collection.”
Regulus nodded, watching James as the song led him to sway his hips and his arms in time with the music. James was singing the words and dancing while Sirius was copying him. As the song came to an end, the two boys jumped down and ran to where Remus and Regulus were standing.
James' face lit up when he saw Regulus. A blush coming up to the curly haired boy's cheeks.
“Salut petit frère!” Sirius exclaimed as another song played. James automatically slightly dances to the song.
“Bonjour, Sirius.” Regulus said back. Sirius rarely spoke to him in their first language but when he did it was usually because he either wanted to speak to him without the others understanding or he wasn't sober.
Regulus thought it was the first option due to Sirius not showing any signs of being intoxicated.
“Tu es venu, quel plaisir,” Sirius responded, “qui vous a invité?”
“James a fait.”
“Wait, what are you saying and why am I in your conversation?” James said at the mention of his name, previously talking to Remus.
“Don’t worry about it, James.” Regulus said.
James grinned as the next song played, “You should dance with me!”
Regulus noticed it was by the same people the last two songs were. Someone must have changed the record, how Regulus didn’t notice was beyond him.
“I don’t dance.” Regulus said swiftly. He really didn’t dance. Well, his parents made him and Sirius learn ballroom dancing but other than that he didn’t dance.
James pouted and got closer to Regulus, “Please! You have to dance with me!” Sirius and Remus went to dance to the song (Sirius staring suspiciously at his best friend and his brother).
Regulus stared at James with a blank look. James' grin widened as the next song played.
“Peter must've brought the new mixtape he got! Preparate Jose Juan is playing so you have to dance with me!”
James gave Regulus no time to respond before dragging him and showing him how to salsa before leading him through the song. James held him tight and close at times before spinning him and doing all kinds of crazy things that made Regulus' head spin wildly. The song was fast paced and so was the dancing that James was leading him through.
The song continued very long and once it ended James dipped him before bringing him so close he could feel the boy's breath. They were both breathing heavily but as the song changed to a slow one (James whispered the song name to be El Infierno) James grabbed Regulus' hips and pulled him close. Regulus unconsciously draped his arms over James' shoulder as the tanned boy led them through another song.
Their hips swayed together with the song and James' eyes closed and he leaned his forehead to touch Regulus as the boy just watched him. The next song was slow as well and they continued to sway. James softly sang the words.
Regulus was so enchanted by the boy he didn’t realize they were almost the only ones dancing. The only other couples was some fourth years.
The song ended again and James opened his beautiful brown eyes and stared at Regulus. They stared at each other until James was dragged away by Sirius, who was shouting something in French that even Regulus couldn't understand. Regulus frowned and Remus giggled next to him.
“He doesn't like that you and James are getting close, he is scared that you two will begin to date.” Remus said after his giggles.
He was definitely drunk because he has never giggled around Regulus since they’ve known each other. Remus doesn't seem the type to giggle around people he just met.
Regulus rolled his eyes as he watched Sirius lecture James while James kept taking glances towards Regulus' direction. Regulus smirked slightly before walking over to them, Remus following.
“Can I have my dance partner back?”
“He is my James!”
“He is not yours, Sirius.”
Sirius pouted, “Yes he is! You can't take him away– Hey! Regulus give me back my Prongs!”
Regulus dragged James back to the dance floor and let James lead them to yet another salsa-like dance. Regulus smiled at James as the boy sang him the lyrics. Saying ‘Mi Amor’ more times Regulus could count.
As the night continued and both boys got more and more drunk, James tried to kiss Regulus too many times and called him ‘love’ and ‘mi amor’ like it was his legal name.
Sirius and Remus had disappeared. Mary and Lily were giggling in a corner while softly dancing to the music. Dorcas and Marlene were playing one of the games brought. Pandora disappeared with a Gryfindor. Barty ended up coming and dragging Evan away. And Peter continued to play bartender before he disappeared and reappeared with a guitar.
“James! Sing us a song!” Peter had said loudly.
James laughed loudly before walking towards Peter, holding Regulus hand, and got the guitar from Peter. He sat on the table as everyone who were still awake and aware gathered around James when he began to play the beginning chords.
The song seemed like a slightly fast song but James had the voice of an angel as he began to sing.
Peter came to stand next to Regulus as James continued to sing.
“Ojalá by Silvo Rodríguez.” Peter whispered.
James continued to sing,
“Ojalá que la aurora no dé gritos que caigan en mi espalda
Ojalá que tu nombre se le olvide a esa voz
Ojalá las paredes no retengan tu ruido de camino cansado
Ojalá que el deseo se vaya atrás de ti
A tu viejo gobierno de difuntos y flores”
Regulus stared at James, who payed attention to the guitar he was playing.
James sang the ending and played the rest of the chords before everyone clapped and cheered for him.
“Thank you! Thank you! That was dedicated to the lovely little Black next to me.” James called out before everyone laughed and left to do their own thing.
James looked at Regulus and smiled, handing the guitar to Peter before moving towards Regulus.
‘I think I just fell in love with you.’ Regulus thought to the boy.
James appeared in front of Regulus and he grabbed his hand before dragging him out of Gryfindor tower to the astronomy tower.
And oh Regulus would love to see Sirius face if he found out what James did to him that night.
