The Time Charlie Kissed Iris
Summary
A little added excerpt from Chapter 6 in Chains that Bind.

And the one time, he did kiss Iris.

Sixth year, one of the seventh years had managed to find the room of requirement and had been able to get it to play host to one of the craziest parties Hogwarts had ever seen. There was loud music thanks to the weird sisters, lights flashing and people dancing and singing.

He had been roped into going by Jae, Murphy, and Orion. He truthfully had no interest in going and would have rather stayed in the vacated Gryffindor dorm reading.

“I've seen the outfits the girls are wearing, trust me, it's worth going.” Jae had told him. How Jae had already seen the girls was not something he wanted to dwell on. They were almost at the room of requirement when the four boys heard giggling.

Penny, Chiara, and Iris, Hogwarts's blonde bombshells. It was hard to focus on anything besides the three girls together as they walked down the hall towards the guys.

“Ladies, there is a 100% chance you are going to be the prettiest ones at this party!” Murphy announced happily when the trio was within a few feet.

“Oh stop!” Penny giggled.

“No, no, go on, I like this.” Iris joked.

Charlie swallowed hard, understanding why Jae had said trust him when it came to how the girls were dressed. All were wearing dresses that were so different from what they typically wore.

Penny had on a yellow crop top and matching skirt, with knee high white gogo boots that made her look straight from the 60's, with her hair teased and curled away from her face with a matching yellow headband.

Chiara had on a simple short black dress with long sleeves, her signature necklace, and her shoulder length grey hair had been curled into loose waves.

As with most of the Weasley boys, Charlie's eyes fixated on Iris. Her hair seemed to defy gravity, her hip length white blonde hair had been pulled up into a high ponytail that trailed along her back, just the bottoms in her signature curls and waves. She was wearing thigh high boots and a pale pink, short, dress that had the thinest straps he had ever seen, showing off the skin around her shoulders, chest, collarbones and neck. It was a new sight seeing that much skin on Iris, even when she wore formal dresses and such, her hair was usually always done up and covered her shoulders.

“May I have the honor, my lady?” Murphy smiled, holding his arm out to Penny. She giggled and wrapped her hand around his arm,

“You may,” she said with a smile, walking with him to the room of requirement.

“I shall offer you the same, Chiara Lobosca.” Orion offered his hand to Chiara, who turned pink in the cheeks. Iris elbowed her good naturedly and watched as her shy friend took Orion's hand. Iris eyed between Charlie and Jae,

“I didn't think you'd come.” Iris said simply to Charlie, “this... doesn't seem like your kinda thing.”

“It isn't. I was dragged against my will.” He told her honestly.

“Well, I'm glad you came.” In a moment that was entirely Iris, she held her arm out to Charlie, “may I escort you, good sir, to your first, and probably only, Hogwarts party?” He laughed loudly at her before he took her arm, letting her lead him to the door.

Once in, all it was was loud noise and a bunch of crazy lights, and bodies. So. Many. People. Iris almost immediately was pulled off in some direction and he was left to try and figure out what he was suppose to do. He found food and something to drink, and a table to sit at and people watch for a while.

A slow dance started in the air, and couples began to trickle off to dance. Charlie saw Iris out of the corner of his eye and noticed her look directly at him and give him a help me on her lips. He stood and started towards her, but before he could see what she needed help with, he saw Diego grabbing her hand and kissing it. Ah. He didn't blame her for not wanting to dance with Diego, he flirted relentlessly and it could be tiring.

“Sorry, Diego, but Iris promised me a slow dance.” Charlie said all but grabbing Iris from his grasp.

“Quick quick! Go!” Iris whispered, pulling Charlie onto the dance floor. “Thank you.” She sighed when they were with one another, mingled with the rest of the couples that had paired off.

“I get it, he cane be a bit much. He flirts with the guys as much as he does the girls.” Charlie nodded. “I have no idea what I'm doing though.” He admitted.

“Just do what everyone else is doing.” She placed her hands up on his shoulders, close to his neck, and he lightly placed his hands on her waist, starting to sway and circle in place. Charlie worried that it would be awkward, but he actually found himself enjoying it... Slightly. Iris made light conversation with him over the music and made him feel at ease about the entire thing. Until the song ended and Penny came running over.

“Hey, we're going to do spin the bottle! Come on!” To his sheer horror, Penny grabbed Iris's wrist, and his. The two were pulled into a corner with a empty fire whiskey bottle and a dozen or so of their friends sitting in a circle. Iris slipped in between Chiara and Andre. He was about to slip away when he felt a hand on his ankle.

“No way, if I have to play, so do you!” Tonks warned him, all but pulling him to the ground between her and Tulip. Alanza reached into the middle and spun the bottle hard, and Charlie watched the amber bottle spin and spin until it slowed and pointed to Tulip. To his absolute shock, Tulip and Alanza actually kissed and he nearly fell over. It wasn't anything passionate or what he expected, it was just a quick peck like the one his parents would share when his dad was running late. Jae spun it next, and by the look on his face Charlie guessed he was the one who suggested the game.

When it landed on Tonks, her face immediately turned into a fish.

“Come here baby!” She squealed and Jae laughed, actually having a sense of humor about the situation, he made fish lips himself and leaned to peck Tonks. The group laughed good heartedly at the interaction.

Penny ended up spinning, and kissing Chiara which caused quite a ruckus from not only the circle, but the surrounding people who looked over. Charlie felt himself relax, but he hoped that the bottle wouldn't land on him.

That was... until Iris put her hand on the bottle. Charlie felt his heart flitter a little more in his chest, but not because he was worried about kissing Iris, because he wished the bottle would land on him. By the looks of most people in the circle, they also hoped the bottle would land on them. He knew that Jae had a crush on Iris, he had talked openly about it in the dorms, and he knew that Tulip did because Tonks had told him.

The blonde gave it a good twist, and let it go. The amber bottle spun, spun, spun... Until it slowed, and Charlie could feel his heart beating heavy in his chest as the bottle slowly made it's way around and stopped on him. He felt both relief and anxiety. He had never kissed anyone before, and here he was about to kiss Iris of all people.

Iris's big blue eyes met his brown ones from across the circle, and he swallowed heavily as he watched Iris lean forward, her hands on the ground to bridge the large gap between the two of them and he tried not to gape at the cleavage he saw at this particular angle. His body leaned forward on its own accord, he closed his eyes, and he felt her lips meet his in a gentle, tentative kiss.

Theirs though was not as quick as the other's, the kiss lasted longer and when Iris went to pull away he found her lips again, pressing a little firmer the second time. He felt fingertips on his jaw and for a tiny second, he felt Iris's tongue run along his bottom lip-

“Get a room you two,” Jae laughed pulling them from the kiss. They managed to look at one another and Iris looked like she was about to say something- when the door to the Room of Requirement blasted open. While most of their friends jumped up from where they were sitting in a circle, Iris's hand moved from his jaw to quickly fist a wad of fabric in his shirt.

“We are gonna loose our Prefect duties-” Charlie whispered as Dumbledore's voice and McGonagals could be heard clearly over the students panic.

“I have an idea!”

“I'm listening!”

“take your jacket off.” She instructed, him and he couldn't help himself since he was feeling suddenly very daring.

Iris.”

“Take. The. Jacket. Off. Charles Septimus Weasley!” Iris yelled at him through gritted teeth, “and throw it over me.”

“That's your plan!?”

“I need you to cover my upper half! I'm going to transform into my Harpy eagle self, but they can see I'm an eagle not an owl, but if only my bottom half is showing they'll just see a bird of prey. You can claim someone told you they thought it would be funny to release some of the owls in here, and a big eagle owl was the last one you had to catch.” She explained as he peeled his olive green jacket and flung it over Iris's head and shoulder's.

“That is a good idea,” he nodded. She gave him a affirmative nod and transformed under the forest of frantic legs. Charlie finished helping her get completely wrapped in his jacket, and then he scooped her up. Only her tail feathers and talon's really stuck out, and she was right. The color was off though, and the size was much bigger then an eagle owl, because Harpy Eagles were huge, he just hoped that the proffesor's wouldn't look to close.

“Mr. Weasley!” McGonagal's voice called when she saw Charlie 'hiding' under the students. Before he could say anything, Iris began to fight under his jacket and he had to try and wrangle her, and the lightbulb went off in his head-

“Professor! I'm sorry, I should have found you! But one of the second years told me that someone thought it would be funny to release a bunch of the owls in here during the party!” He managed to get to his feet, holding Iris who would occasionally make a squawk or twitch in accordance with an angry owl. “I didn't want any of the owls to get injur-”

“We will address you not coming to me first, but just get the owl out of here.” She ordered, rubbing her forehead. “It does not seem to pleased.”

“No ma'am, she does seem to be quite the hothead-”

“BWRAAA!” Iris squawked and wiggled in his arms, and this time he almost dropped her. He headed towards the door and he heard people ask where the bird came from, and he quickened his pace. Filch narrowed his eyes at him and he quickly slid past him and out the door. Charlie, to save face, made his way away from the Room of Requirement and headed towards the owlery instead of the Gryffindor tower. When he felt he was far enough away, he ducked down one of the side hallways, he finally put Iris down and removed his jacket.

He had never been this close to Iris in her animagus form and found himself gawking a little at her charcoal and silver feathers before she transformed in front of him.

“I can't believe that worked so well!” She smiled as Charlie nodded. “You did great at acting the part to!”

“Well I can't take all the credit, you did thrash around like a wild animal.” He joked, earning him a certain look only ladies could do. “But honestly, good idea. We probably should head towards the owlery though. If you're in the tower and didn't know about the party they might think you slipped away.”

“But if I was in the the owlery,” Iris wiggled her finger at him. “Good idea. Although...” She looked down at her dress and it kind of gave her away.

“Oh here.” Charlie took his jacket and held it out for her. “It's cold anyway.” She slid her arms in and he laid it on her shoulder's for her.

“Thank you, you are ever the gentleman, Charlie.” She told him as they started walking towards the owlery.

“Well, I don't know if I would call me a gentleman. I did just maul you.”

“Surely you are not talking about that gentle little peck on the lips?” Iris asked him, almost laughing.

“Gentle peck?!” Charlie almost sounded offended, and that finally made Iris laugh rather loudly.

“Yes! That was a gentle peck!”

“It was more then a peck...” He muttered and Iris stopped walking. He stopped as well and suddenly felt her hands on his neck, her thumbs running along his jawline, and her lips crashing into his. Not roughly but definitely not delicately. Firm, that was the word he would use to describe it. Charlie wound his arms around her, one around her middle, the other up her back and held the back of her neck as he continued to kiss her. The two of them were pressed up against each other, and Charlie swore she could feel her heart thumping against his breastbone.

Iris was the first to pull away and Charlie felt a ball of dread at the thought of stopping.

That, was more then a peck.” She whispered, and without looking, he could tell she had a grin on her lips.

“Noted.” He nodded, dipping his head to kiss her again. Who has time for romance when there are dragons out there, he had vaguely remembered saying to Bill when they two had been sort of discussing girls. He could smack himself, because kissing Iris right now was the only thing on his brain... Well sort of. There was one other thing that was starting to control his brain. He found himself pulling her to him tighter, and then she moved her lips from his mouth to his jaw and he felt a shiver go down his spine, her fingers playing with some loose hairs at the nape of his neck. He knew let out an audible shudder and he felt Iris's lips curl on his skin.

Then she stopped moving and pulled from his quickly.

“What-”

“Someone's coming.” She warned him, pulling her arms from around him and tried to straighten herself out. She quickly pulled her wand from her hair, and Charlie wondered how she had hid her freaking wand in her hair. She muttered colorvia and he watched as her bubblegum pink dress changed to black, a much more not party color in his mind. She looked at him and made a face. “You have lipstick all over your face!” Iris lifted her hands and quickly tried to wipe it away.

“I bet I do, you mauled me.” He snickered, before she turned her wand to his face and cast scurgify. She had only just finished when Professor Flitwick came around the corner.

“Oh! Miss Rosewood, Mr. Weasley. You're out past curfew.”

“Yes sir.” Iris nodded.

“There was a party, I'm sure you're aware.” Charlie started, and Flitwick narrowed his eyes at them. Charlie held up his hands, “no no, ask Professor McGonagal, someone released some of the owls in the room of requirement and Iris and I were just trying to get them back to the owlery.” He explained.

“I'll check with Professor McGonagal. Is that where you're coming from them? The owlery?” He asked.

“Yes, we just returned the last one.” Iris nodded. They watched as he almost looked around to see if their excuse was feesable.

“Fine, if you're done, I would head straight back to the tower. I'm only trusting you because you are a prefect and head girl, do we understand?” Flitwick explained and the two nodded quickly and they started towards the tower. Flitwick followed behind them, no doubt heading towards the room of requirement. “So how many owls did you have to remove?”

“Only four, but the last one was a great big eagle owl that was hard to catch.” Charlie snickered as Iris elbowed him in the ribs. “Put up a fight too.”

“I'm glad there wasn't more, the eagle owl was the last one?”

“Yes, Mcgonagall saw that one actually.” Charlie explained as he and Iris headed toward the staircase and Flitwick headed in the other direction.

“Very well. Have a good night you two.... Make good choices.” He warned as they parted. Once they were out of ear shot, both Charlie and Iris snickered, knowing that making good choices was a ship that had sailed long ago.
