New Beginning

Darkness. Harry woke to darkness. He’s not concerned, the smell of ink filled his senses. He floats in a pool of ink. It's peaceful, the peace of the space and its magic, tries to make him sleep.

As he starts to go back to sleep, he remembers Alana. The peace is lost as he frantically searches the area around him.

"Alana… Alana, where are you?"

As he treads in the pool, scenes start to play. He can't make out the faces of the people or hear they're names.

The room is large with green and red decors. Lager chairs and sofa by the fireplace. Two cribs side by side. Stuff animals, and babe toys. In the center of the room, sitting on a rug, was a man and two babies.

"#%÷$, I believe they are supposed to be sleeping by now."

The man in the center of the room looks to the door. Standing there was another man leaning against the door, by how he spoke, he could hear the love in his voice.

"/%$&, they are just so adorable. I don't want to leave, I just want to make them smile and laugh." He laughed, and held out his arms to the other. "Come here, sit with us. I'm sure the children want their daddy."

The man at the door straightens as he laughs. He walks to the man with the children, places a kiss on his cheek.

"Let's put them to bed. They need sleep and we have some things to do today."

The man picks up one of the children and the man on the floor stands with the other. They place a kiss on each of the children and put them down.

The scene slowly fades.

Tears fill his eyes but don't fall. It was a dream he had always wished for, but didn’t have. Two loving parents.

“Why, Why show me this? What do you want?”

Be true to yourself. What do you wish for? What do you long for?

A new scene comes to life. It fills Harry with dread and apprehension.

The man from the first scene is there.

Running through the woods with two babies clutched to his chest. The look of determination and fear as he dodges magical attack after attack.

"You think you can run. We will catch you. You won't be able to get away. Haha."

The man ran, injured and bleeding. A group of men, dressed in black robes gave chase. The men didn't let up on the attacks.

With a final attack, the scene began to fade.

“What happened? Why did this happen?” Harry stares, unaware of the tears falling down his face.

What do you wish for? What do you long for?

With a new scene, Harry hopes for the best.

The man lays in a pool of blood, choking on his own blood, against a tree. His children still clutched to his chest. The forest he’s in is different from the last. The sound of a twig breaking pulls his attention from the babies.

“Hello, I’m #&#*. Are you all right? How can I help you?”

A woman with thick, dark red hair that fell to her shoulders appeared. She seemed kind and caring. Several voices are heard calling for the woman. Her attention was solely on the dying man and his children.

“Take them, help them survive, they will find a way home in the future. Their other parent, will not stop till he finds them. Please, help them.”

The dying man asked and pleaded, calling on the woman's compassion. As he is choking on blood and gasping for breath, three men walk up to them.

“#&#*, take them. You have my word, we will protect them like our own.”

“$%^%^, we just buried our own twins.”

“No one, but us here know that. These two will take our children's names.”

The man gives up his children to the couple. With his last breath, he thanks them. The light fades from the man's eyes and with it the scene fads as well.

“Why, Why did he die? Why did I have to watch it? Where is Alana, I’m tired of death and war.”

Harry floats there just crying, wishing his sister was there.

What do you long for?

Peace. Home. I want to go home. I want the chance for peace we couldn’t have. I want to go ho..mm.e.

Harry screams, tells his answer to whoever is holding him here. The pool of ink turns and swirls, at the temperament of an angry sea. Harry doesn’t fight as it pulls him under. Everything goes black.

In a large hall, stands four masked people, three women and one man. Before them, stand two large mirrors. They watch the two children through the mirrors. As the emotions and pain take their toll. They watch as the ink swallows the children.

“The children have passed, they are returning home,” said the woman in a fox mask.

“They will have a hard time adapting, but they are resilient,” said the woman in the dragon mask.

“They are stronger than you think. They have lived a fate that was not theirs to live,” said the man in the tiger mask.

“They will adapt, they will prove themselves. It will take time but they are returning to the father that grieves them. It is saddening that we will not be able to watch them there,” said the woman with the owl mask.

“Twisted Wonderland is a sealed realm. They are all but children there. A realm that has a very short history compared to all the others. Now no one else will be lost from there.” –Dragon

“It was our war that caused the tear in the seal. Now that we have fixed our mistakes we can let them grow as they should have.”--Tiger

“Fate has been restored. What will happen will. If only the fairy child could have gone with them, but all though she is a sister in their hearts, none of her kind still live there.”-- Owl

The one with the fox mask walks to the window as the others continue to speak. She, like Owl, is saddened she watched the children grow, watched the abuse they suffered at the hand of those called kin. Watched the love they came to have for another as kin.

“Their fate is no longer ours to watch. They are now away from our touch. They are where they can have peace and a childhood they were denied. We must let the children go. This is their new beginning.”
