“Draco?”
Draco looked up from his studying to see Lilith Balledold standing before him. She wasn’t wearing her usual Slytherin robes, instead wearing a simple white dress. Her hair was down as well, not in the half ponytail she was so fond of wearing.
Was something wrong? Had another student been petrified?
”Yes, Lilith?”
He asked, tilting his head slightly. She was acting strangely, more so than usual. Draco could only hope that whatever it was, it wouldn’t affect his exams.
”So… I may or may not have a plan in motion that may or may not affect your father negatively.”
Lilith had the good grace to look somewhat sheepish. Draco was now incredibly curious as to what plan she was talking about, and what she meant by affecting his father negatively. But on the other hand…
”Don’t tell me about it. I need plausible deniability. But if you need help with anything difficult or dangerous, come to me.”
Lilith nodded, looking relieved. She turned and left the room, probably to read more of her Greek God series. She’d gotten Draco hooked, and he was waiting impatiently for her to finish the second book.
He sighed, returning to studying. Hopefully this wouldn’t affect the exams…
Harry, Ron, and Hermione were walking down the corridor when a Slytherin girl accosted them in the hallway.
“Sign this.”
She said, thrusting a piece of parchment in Harry’s face. She looked to be around their age, with short blonde hair and blue eyes. Harry looked suspiciously at the parchment, but it was Hermione who spoke.
”What would we be signing?”
She asked, eyes wary. A Slytherin willingly talking to Harry without bullying him was weird, but this was even weirder.
”It’s a petition to get Lockhart away from this school before he messes up badly enough to actually harm someone.”
Ron choked on air in the background, but Harry was busy examining the paper. A lot of students had signed already, and he signed his name as well. Ron also signed, and after discussing it with the Slytherin (apparently the pixies that Lockhart had set loose had thrown her book out the window into a mud puddle and she’d been on the warpath ever since) Hermione signed as well.
The Slytherin left, presumably to harass more people about signing her petition, and Harry, Ron, and Hermione exchanged looks.
”That was bloody weird.”
Ron commented, and Harry couldn’t help but agree. He hoped that he wouldn’t have to interact with that Slytherin anymore, but when had fate ever been kind to him?
Luna was sitting on a window ledge, looking out at the Great Lake. Ginny was being strange- probably wrackspurts from being away from home and being in such close proximity with Harry Potter- and her shoes had wandered off somewhere. A Slytherin sat next to her, silently handing her a mirror. She smiled at Lilith.
”How goes the battle with the nargles?”
She asked, tiling her head. Lilith had been kind to her, never calling her Loony and always curious to learn more about the creatures Luna saw everywhere. She’d said that they couldn’t associate in public, but Luna knew that it wasn’t because Lilith was ashamed of her. Quite the opposite, really. She was pulled out of her thoughts when Lilith spoke.
”It’s… going. I could use some of your expertise though, because Draco is being so stubborn.”
Lilith sighed in annoyance. The Blibbering Humdingers were getting closer and Lilith had been doing so well, so Luna decided to distract her.
”I’ll have to research nargles some more. Do you want to come look for Crumple Horned Snorkacks with me? I haven’t looked around Hogwarts yet.”
Lilith smiled and nodded. Luna took her hand and they walked off to the Forbidden Forest.
Lilith seems overwhelmed… I’ll have to write the cog about it.
Susan Bones had been minding her own business when a Slytherin walked up to her, face serious. Susan looked up from the book she was reading and waited for the Slytherin to talk.
The Slytherin did eventually speak, voice serious.
“How much could I sue the school for for not doing their job and actually looking for the monster?”
Susan started to speak, then stopped, thinking.
”I don’t know. Why don’t we find out together?”
The Slytherin nodded, and they went off to read a ton of law books.
