the thunder
It was weeks before Blaise and Pansy tried anything. Harry almost thought nothing would happen. Every night, Hermione asked him a question in which he answered with an obvious lie.
But on one Friday night, Hermione asked Harry the nightly question, Harry answered the truth. His eyes widened.
“Harry, I think you took Veritaserum. Let me ask you another question. What’s your name?” She looked at him, more worried than she had ever been.
“Harry James Potter.” He answered quickly.
“Erm.. How old are you?” She attempted once more.
“14 years old.” His answer was way too quick, and his hand flew over his mouth.
“I can’t control what I’m saying. I’m trying to lie but my mouth won’t let me.” His eyes wandered towards his drink.
“You’re fucked.” Ron said through yet again a mouth full of food.
“I’m going over there.” Hermione exclaimed, getting up.
“Hermione don-“ She glared in Harry’s direction.
“Zabini! Parkison! What did you do? How much did you give him?” Hermione demanded, grabbing Pansy’s arm.
Pansy shook her hand off and laughed at Hermione.
“Your boy is going to be spitting truth for days. Someone gave him a whole bottle. And you have absolutely no proof that it’s us.” Pansy smirked and Blaise laughed along with her.
“A whole- A whole fucking bottle?!?” Hermione’s hand was at her pocket gripping her wand.
“I can’t take this.” Harry got up and slowly walked out. Ron looked between the door and Hermione, and decided to follow.
He quickly ran to catch up with Harry.
“Harry! Mate, are you okay?” Ron gave an apologetic smile towards him.
“No. I’m not. I have so many secrets that would be so embarrassing to get out and so many that I would rather die before certain people found out.” Harry admitted sheepishly.
“Got a crush you don’t want anyone to know bout, mate?” Ron said, trying to lighten the mood.
“Yeah.” Harry looked away from Ron and began to walk quicker. Ron followed his pace.
“Who?” Ron asked, assuming it was Cho Chang. He so desperately wanted to make Harry forget this and make him happier, and he hoped that talking about his crush would make him feel better.
“You.”
“What? Mate, what do you mean?” Ron looked around, hoping that Hermione would appear soon.
“I mean that I’m in love with you, Ron.” Both of Harry’s hands flew over his mouth and he looked over at Ron.
“Harry! Ron! There you are.” Hermione jogged up beside them. Ron looked over, thankful for her.
“I need to go.” Ron made his exit, immediately heading for the Gryffindor boy’s dormitories, but not his own year.
He headed for George and Fred’s dormitories. Hoping and praying that one of them was there, he opened the door. On George’s bed, he found George and Cedric Diggory.
They jumped apart at the sound of the door opening and looked up at Ron. His face was red with tears pouring down his eyes.
He could barely see them through the blurriness in his eyes from the tears. He stumbled around and wiped the tears from his eyes to look at them.
“Oh- Oh.” His eyes widened. “I can go. I’ll be going now.” All three of them were silent, but Ron still didn’t move.
“Ron. Stay.” Cedric broke the silence, and George looked at him. Ron stood there and nodded.
George got up and made his way to his younger brother.
“The fuck’s got you like this, mate?” George handed him a tissue from his pocket. Ron wiped his tears away and clutched onto his older brother.
“I don’t- I don’t even know why I’m being like this. It’s a good thing, really. I guess it’s just stressful for me.” Ron shook his head.
“What’s a good thing?” George asked, guiding Ron to sit down onto his bed.
“Harry’s in love with me.” He shrugged and put his head into his hands. “Pansy and Blaise gave him a bottle of Veritaserum and I asked him a stupid question and got a shocking answer. I left when Hermione found us.” He admitted and breathed out, shaking his shoulders.
“Well, what are you waiting on? Go kiss him, mate.” Cedric advised and smiled down at Ron.
“I’m afraid though. What if he doesn’t even like blokes and just sees me as a girl?” His eyes closed slowly and he shook his head once more.
”Well, that’s just bloody stupid. It’s Harry. You have to trust him.” George told Ron, looking puzzled.
“I guess you’re right.” Ron shrugged. “This is stupid. I feel stupid.” He admitted
“Don’t. Go get em.” Ron nodded at his brothers words.
“Will do, mate.” And with that, he walked out to his own dorms.
