Quidditch practice went about as well as it could have been.
James had gotten distracted by Lily who had showed up demanding to speak with him and failed to notice the quaffle heading towards him. Luckily he wasn't knocked off his broom but he was made to go to the hospital wing after practice.
If things weren't already bad, now he's got Sirius sitting by his bedside scolding him and asking questions. Questions that James didn't want to answer or know the answer too.
"Honestly Prongs what is going on with you?!"
"Pads...."
"You haven't been sleeping lately-"
"Pads"
"And now you've broken up with Lily!"
"Padfoot"
"The girl you've been chasing after for years!"
"Siri"
"You're supposed soulmate!"
"SIRIUS!"
Sirius quickly shut his mouth and stared at James with a shocked expression. James let out a deep sigh and ran a hand through his hair "Look Sirius, I'm going through something and I don't need you scolding me right now, please"
James watched as the shock left Sirius's face and was replaced with slight annoyance and worry. Sirius opened his mouth inorder to question James but James paid no attention to what his best friend said. No, instead his attention was captured by a voice belonging to someone who now plaqued his thoughts.
"Klaus will you stop your whining? I've told you, we won't be here for long I just gotta drop off these potions to Madam Pomfrey and then we can go, alright"
"Fine, I'll stop but this better be the last place we stop at cause you and I have a date goddammit! Honestly the school employees are so incompetent if they need a bloody teenager to do their job!"
James felt his body tense up when he heard Mulciber's voice. He felt himself stare at the fabric separating him and everyone else within the hospital wing. So they had a date, James didn't care...atleast he shouldn't. So why? Why did hearing about it fill him with such dread?
Sirius, on the other hand, was not fond of being ignored by his best friend.
"JAMES!"
James was startled out of his thoughts by Sirius shouting his name. He turned his attention back to him and glared "Merlin, padfoot can you just leave me alone"
Sirius crossed his arms "No not until you tell me what's going on!" He demanded. James glared at him and was about to lie through his teeth but it seemed Sirius suspected that would happen because he spoke up again.
"And don't think about lying and saying you're fine cause you've been acting weird ever since Snivellus confessed to having such disgusting dreams about you"
"Snivellus did not confess to having wet dreams about me he just said that having such dreams is more possible then him dreaming about dating Lily"
"Still!! You have not been yourself, merlin I'd be disgusted too if I were you but to just break up with the girl of your dreams cause of it is just insane honestly why would you?!"
James kept his mouth shut at the question. He wasn't sure exactly why he broke up with Lily, he still had feelings for her yes but due to recent events Snape had been plaguing his mind and now he wasn't sure about his feelings. He shook his head and chose to ignore his best friend. He got out of the hospital bed, having been given the ok by Pomfrey earlier.
He pulled back the curtain and was filled with sadness when he saw the room was completely empty. 'They must have left already' He thought and sighed deeply. Atleast he wouldn't have to run into Snape and his stupid choice for a lover James thought to himself.
James couldn't understand why Snape was dating a guy like Mulciber and with that thought he quickly rushed out of the hospital wing.
He ran into the courtyard and managed to catch sight of Snape and Mulciber, who happened to be talking to Evan Rosier. James remembered him, he was with Snape when he publicly annouced that he had higher sex dream about him then Lily.
James shook his head 'No, I will not relive that memory!' He thought to himself. James quickly hid behind on of the pillars in the courtyard when he heard Sirius shouting out his name. Last thing he needed was for Sirius to alert everyone of his presence.
James sighed in relief when he heard Sirius's voice fade. 'Thank merlin' he thought. He peaked out from behind the pillar and noticed that he was close by Snape, Mulciber, and Rosier. He tensed a bit but he did his best to listen in on their conversation. Perhaps I'll learn where they are going for their date he thought.
"So that really happened? It wasn’t just a rumor?" James heard Rosier ask the couple and he wondered just what it was he was talking about.
"Yes, it happened this morning, you should have seen it. It was the most unexpected thing to happen, hell it was more shocking then when sev announced he was gay" Mulciber said and James felt himself slowly get irritated at not knowing what was going on.
James watched Snape nod his head "Yes, apparently the power couple of all of Hogwarts has broken up. I do wonder what the reason for it was" He stated and James had an ill feeling suspecting that the three were talking about him and Lily.
"We all want to know especially since it was Potter who broke up with Evans, the girl he's been after for years"
At that James wanted to hit his head against the pillar he hid behind. He had silently hoped that his breakup with Lily wouldn't be all that interesting to talk about but he knew that wouldn't be the case. Especially with all that he did to get her "Damnit" He muttered to himself.
He shook his head and turned his attention back to the three boys. He listened in more on their conversation and learned that Snape and Mulciber where heading to Madam Puddifoot's tea shop.
'Seriously, why would Mulciber take Snape there? As if Snape would ever go to a place like that' He thought and to his shock it was Snape who had wanted to go, due to his apparent love for tea. A piece of information that James didn't find odd at all.
He noticed Rosier say goodbye to the couple before running off to merlin knows where. James paid him no attention and watched as Snape and Mulciber began making their way down to Hogsmeade. At a time like this James wished he had his invisibility cloak with him.
'Perhaps I could follow them in my animagus form?' James quickly shot down that idea. It would very unusual to see a stag walking around Hogsmeade. He didn't want to risk getting in troubled, that was the last thing he wanted well that and running into Lily and Sirius.
He decided to just risk following the couple, but before he could take a single step he felt someone grab his arm.
James jumped at the contact and feared that Lily or Sirius or perhaps both had found him. He turned around and to his relief and slight dread it was Remus who had a hold of him.
"H-hi rem" James spoke nervously because the look on Remus's face told him that he was about to be scolded.
"To the Room of requirement, now" Remus stated firmly without leaving any room for discussion. James noticed the stern look Remus was giving him and he felt his face heat up at the sight.
'No time to question it just go' James thought and began making his way to the room of requirement with Remus following close behind him with his arms crossed and an annoyed look on his face.
'This is gonna be a long day..' Was the last thought James had as he walked to his inevitable doom.
