As Long as we both shall live
Summary
Over time, Draco's feelings for Harry grow stronger and he begins to realize that he has developed romantic feelings for him. Despite their past animosity towards each other, Draco and Harry begin to bond over shared experiences and develop a deep connection. Though their relationship is not without its challenges, including dealing with the aftermath of the war, they emerge stronger than ever and their love for each other remains strong.

Draco was in love with his best friend, Harry. He had been for years, but he had never told him. Harry had always been there for him, through thick and thin, and Draco didn't want to risk losing him by confessing his feelings. But it was getting harder and harder to keep his emotions bottled up inside.

To make matters worse, Harry had a boyfriend. His name was Ron, and he was everything that Draco wasn't. He was outgoing, confident, and always knew just what to say to make Harry laugh. Draco felt like he couldn't compete.

But despite all of this, Draco and Harry were still best friends. They spent all of their free time together, going on adventures and exploring the world around them. Draco cherished these moments, even if they were just friends.

One day, while they were out exploring the woods, Harry turned to Draco and said, "Draco, I need to tell you something."

Draco's heart skipped a beat. Was Harry going to break up with Ron? Was he going to confess his own feelings? Draco tried to keep his cool as he waited for Harry to speak.

"I'm thinking about proposing to Ron," Harry said, smiling.

Draco felt like he had been punched in the gut. He had never felt so heartbroken in his life. He wanted to tell Harry how he felt, to beg him not to go through with it, but he couldn't. He just nodded and forced a smile.

Over the next few weeks, Draco watched as Harry and Ron grew closer and closer. They went on romantic dates, took long walks together, and shared intimate moments that made Draco feel sick to his stomach. He knew that he couldn't keep pretending forever, but he didn't know what to do.

One night, while they were sitting on Harry's couch watching TV, Draco finally worked up the courage to tell Harry how he felt. "Harry, I need to tell you something," he said, his voice shaking.

Harry turned to him, his eyes full of concern. "What is it, Draco?"

"I'm in love with you," Draco blurted out. "I have been for years. But I didn't want to tell you because I didn't want to ruin our friendship."

Harry's eyes widened in surprise. "Draco, I had no idea. I'm flattered, but I'm in a relationship with Ron. I can't just break up with him."

Draco felt like he had been kicked in the stomach. He had hoped that Harry would return his feelings, but he knew that it was a long shot. He had to accept that Harry was happy with Ron, even if it meant that he would never be with him.

"I understand," Draco said, trying to keep his voice steady. "I just needed to tell you how I felt."

Harry put his arm around Draco's shoulder. "I'm glad you did. You're my best friend, and I don't want anything to come between us."

Draco nodded, feeling a mix of relief and sadness. He was glad that he had finally told Harry the truth, but he knew that things would never be the same between them.

Over the next few weeks, Draco tried to move on. He went on dates with other guys, but he couldn't shake his feelings for Harry. He knew that he had to find a way to get over him, but he didn't know how.

Then one day, Harry came over to Draco's house with tears in his eyes. "Ron and I broke up," he said, his voice shaking.

Draco's heart skipped a beat. This was his chance. But he knew that he couldn't take advantage of Harry in his moment of weakness. "I'm sorry, Harry," he said, putting his arm around him. "That's really tough."

Harry leaned into him, and Draco felt a surge of emotions. He wanted to kiss him, to tell him that everything would be okay, but he knew that it wasn't the right time.

Over the next few weeks, Harry leaned on Draco for support. They spent even more time together, and Draco felt like they were closer than ever. But he still couldn't bring himself to tell Harry how he felt. He didn't want to risk losing him again.

Then one day, Harry turned to him and said, "Draco, I need to tell you something."

Draco's heart skipped a beat. Was Harry going to confess his own feelings? Was he going to ask him out?

"I think I'm gay," Harry said, his voice barely above a whisper.

Draco felt a surge of hope. Maybe there was a chance for them after all. "That's great, Harry," he said, trying to keep his voice calm. "I'm here for you, no matter what."

Over the next few days, Harry opened up to Draco about his feelings. He talked about his confusion, his fears, and his hopes for the future. Draco listened intently, trying to be the supportive friend that Harry needed.

As they talked, Draco realised that Harry was still the same person he had fallen in love with years ago. He was kind, brave, and fiercely loyal. And he realised that he couldn't keep his feelings bottled up any longer.

"Harry, there's something I need to tell you," Draco said, his heart pounding in his chest.

"What is it?" Harry asked, looking at him with concern.

"I'm in love with you," Draco said, his voice barely above a whisper.

Harry's eyes widened in surprise. "What? Draco, I had no idea."

"I know," Draco said, feeling tears prick at the corners of his eyes. "I've been trying to keep it hidden for so long, but I can't anymore. I love you, Harry."

Harry looked at him for a long moment, his expression unreadable. Then he leaned in and kissed him, his lips soft and warm against Draco's.

Draco felt like he was floating. This was everything he had ever wanted, and he couldn't believe that it was finally happening.

Over the next few weeks, they explored their feelings for each other. They went on dates, held hands, and kissed under the stars. Draco felt like he was living in a dream, and he never wanted it to end.

But he knew that they still had challenges ahead of them. They would have to face their friends and family, and they would have to navigate a world that wasn't always accepting of their love.

But he was ready for it, as long as Harry was by his side. He knew that they could face anything together, and that their love was stronger than anything else in the world. Draco and Harry's relationship continued to grow stronger with each passing day. They supported each other through everything, from the good times to the bad.

One day, Harry came to Draco with a serious look on his face.

"What's wrong?" Draco asked, concern etched on his face.

"I have to tell you something," Harry said, his voice shaking slightly. "Something that I've been keeping from you."

Draco's heart sank. He couldn't imagine what Harry could be keeping from him.

"What is it?" Draco asked, his voice barely above a whisper.

"I've been having these nightmares," Harry said, his eyes fixed on the ground. "They're about the war, and everything that happened. I can't seem to shake them, and they're starting to affect me during the day too."

Draco's heart went out to Harry. He knew how hard it was to deal with the aftermath of the war, and how much it had affected them both.

"I'm here for you," Draco said, taking Harry's hand in his. "Whatever you need, I'm here for you."

Harry looked at him, his eyes shining with gratitude. "Thank you," he said, his voice barely above a whisper.

Over the next few weeks, Draco and Harry worked together to help Harry deal with his nightmares. They talked about their experiences during the war, and they worked on coping mechanisms that would help Harry when he was feeling overwhelmed.

It wasn't easy, but they did it together. And in the end, they emerged stronger than ever, their love for each other stronger than anything else in the world.
