A couple of days turns into a month...
Opening his eyes for the night, Godric was not surprised to see brilliant and wide green, which was flecked with silver within, eyes staring back at him.
He simply huffed at the child, who simply beamed at him oh so innocently.
She truly was a mischievous little girl, who seemed to not care that she was looking at a beast, a monster with such trust.
“Harriet, I see you have opened the door to my resting place yet again.” He then simply drawled in acceptance, for there was simply no point in it anymore, in telling the girl the dangers she chances upon oh so carelessly.
But well, has himself to blame for this.
But Godric, strangely, did not really feel much angered over it.
If his children, especially Eric learnt of this-
He would never hear the end of it.
“Good night, Godric!” Harriet then cheerfully said to him, while she clung to his chest like a koala bear, her eyes were shining at him in anticipation.
“Good night, what is it that you wanted to say, little one?” He then questioned, which seemed to be the correct thing to say, for the child then gifted him with a dazzling smile.
“It’s my birthday, I’m eight now!” She then proudly proclaimed to him, which had Godric suppressing a chuckle at this.
For he was more than two thousand years. But for a child so young, it did make a difference.
And different she was, for the better, gone was the sad, quiet and closed-off child he had met before, but who would always be a part of her, and now she shined, if he had to explain it in one word.
And this all in little less than a month that he had stayed with her and Marius.
And he was the one that had decided to stay for only a couple of days at first, but he had seemed to lose track of time in the presence of the young and innocent, and oh so bright (and warm) child-
Isabel had been very understanding when he had last contacted her, more than understanding even…for she encouraged him to stay however long he would like, especially for the way it made him feel better, she had exclaimed in joy, which had made him freeze at that.
Especially for the way she had thought that he had taken a human as his own-
Which he had set the record straight on it, and that was how Isabel had come to know of little Harriet.
That, and that he was simply drinking from blood bags.
Which had then turned into her asking a lot of questions about the child, she was excited to learn about the little one.
So here he was now, laying on a large bed, instead of his coffin, which now laid against the wall.
That and with, again, little Harriet still cuddling to his chest with a beaming smile for him.
“Congratulations, Harriet.” He then softly answered, with a smile on his lips, which felt quite foreign to him, the feel of it-
For he had forgotten how to during these years.
But with the little girl in front of him, everything he had come to know seems to be thrown of its head.
And he was not annoyed by it in the slightest.
By her.
“Thank you, Godric!” She then cheerfully said, which made his eyes then crinkle at the child.
“What would you like for your big day?” He then asked her, which made the child then widen her eyes at him in an owlish manner.
“Wha- Are you -” Harriet then stuttered.
“Yes, I am.” He then simply answered, his tone was filled with amusement, which made the child then huff at him.
“Godric! Ah alright then, if you insist,” Harriet then quietly, after a moment said, while she tried to avoid his eyes, which made him then pull her chin towards him, seeing as she was now sitting on him, with her little head leaning towards him.
“I insist, now tell me what is it that you would like,” He then asked her encouragingly, which made the child then look at his eyes for a moment, her mind in thought it seems before she opened her mouth, her eyes were hopeful then.
And Godric was surprised by her request.
“Can you teach me your native language, Gallic? Please, Godric,” The child asked him with her large fawn like eyes then, which had him in a tight hold then.
And he simply could not say no to the child. Which then made her very happy by the way she then hugged him around his throat then, and Godric had a handful of her hair in his mouth then.
“I’m sorry!” The child then shouted in sheepishness.
“Happy birthday to you, Harriet!” Marius then cheerfully exclaimed all the while he stood with a camera in front of the birthday girl, who was looking at the simple treacle tart with cherries in front of her, which had exactly eight colourful candles at the center of it, with wide and amazed eyes.
And Godric only looked at the sight of the young girl in fondness.
“Did you make your wish then?” Marius then asked after a moment, after he finally put the camera down, on which he had taken a lot of pictures on, even, unbeknownst of him, of Godric and the young girl, who had excitedly smiled at the ancient vampire, as if she could not believe that this was happening to her, which the Vampire had softly smiled at in answer, and understanding, and encouraged her to blow her candles.
Which she, after a moment of going through a lot of emotions, which she was holding back admirably, which she again, should not have to do, but it was normal, what with her upbringing from before, if one could dare call it that- but well , Marius was working on it, and they really were making a change for the better!
What with Harry being more comfortable in her own skin and surroundings now.
“I did,” Harriet then answered with a small smile, all the while she looked down the table then.
Marius then raised her brows at her,
“Oh, and what did you wish for then, young Lady?” he curiously asked, which the younger girl furiously shook her head at.
“It’s a secret!” She then cheerfully said, which made the vampire beside him then let out a chuckle, which, again, was also something new, which Marius was still getting used to…
But well, he was glad for his old friend.
“Can I eat the tart then, I mean, would you like some, uncle Marius ?” Harriet then curiously asked him in sheepisness, which he shook his head at.
“Thank you, my dear, but this is your tart, eat however many you would like to your hearts content!” He then firmly told the young girl, who’s smile then widened, her head then turned to Godric in excitement, who then caressed the young girl’s hair softly in answer, which made her then beam at him in happiness.
And yes, Marius did secretly take another picture of the both of them then, for he wasn’t a former MI6 agent not for nothing after all.
“I love it, uncle Marius, it’s my favourite !” The child then announced with an awed look on her face, her gaze now firmly on what was left of the tart, which were little to no crumbs, oh my-
Harriet would want one for every day afterwards, which Marius and Godric most assuredly made come true, even if Marius had made the young girl promise him to eat her vegetables, and drinkher nutrition potions every day, which the child nodded to without any fuss. Which surprised Marius very much, but then again, with one Harriet Potter-Black (and her many more titles, but these would be her main ones for the time being, the ones she would be directly referred to that is), one shouldn’t be.
Its days after her birthday that Harriet once more found herself in Godric’s room, with the vampire now taking a shower, he had let her stay in his room for the duration, seeing as they were going to have their next lesson on the Gallic language, which in Harriet’s opinion was so beautiful!
And cool of course!
She knows how to count in Gallic for one, and can ask for simple things, which Godric told her was already very impressive enough, and that she was a prodigy .
Which still makes her blush thinking about it, seeing as she wasn’t really that special- she was just Harry after all.
She then got cut out of her musings by Godric’s ringing phone, which made her quite curious, and seeing as Godric wouldn’t be answering it any time soon- Harriet answered it in stead, seeing as it would be the right thing to do, but well, she would inform them that he couldn’t come on the phone, she hopes they’ll understand.
But seeing as its Godric she was speaking of, of course others would understand, she thinks, seeing as its Godric.
“Hello?” She then chirped into the phone in exitedness.
But the person on the other side of the phone thought the opposite.
“Who are you, and what have you done to Godric,” An icy voice of a man then answered, which made Harriet’s eyebrows furrow in confusion then.
“Well I’m Harry, and Godric is taking a shower at the moment, I can let him know that you called, mister?” She then politely answered, seeing as she was very polite.
But the man seemed to be even angrier for some reason, which confused Harriet even more…
And he then started speaking in an other language, which made her raise her brows even further, almost reaching her hair by then.
“Listen here you, Harry, I don’t believe you for a second! If anything, and I mean anything is wrong with Godric for the coming hours, when I don’t hear from him himself, I will-” He then started to threathingy say to her, which confused Harriet even more, that he thought that she was lying, and that she did something to her best friend!
How rude!
But before she could say anything to the rude mister, the phone was then suddely quiet, and Harriet had to look at it then, and ah- it seems the phone’s battery had run out.
She then put it in the charger on the bedside and waited for Godric once more, she would tell him of the weird phone call with the rude person then.
But it had all went out of the figurative window, when she set eyes on Godric then, whe had entered his room then…
He was wearing his usual light and floaty like trousers, but that was about it, seeing as Harriet, who was now furiously blushing, stared at his well defined chest then, with the tattoos she had seen before…
In her dream not dream.
“I will get my shirt and then we shall start our next lesson, little one. One moment.” Godric then excused himself, which Harriet only quietly nodded to in answer.
Her face was still furiously blushing, even during the lesson, which confused her friend, but it had also worried him seeing as he then thought that she might have gotten ill.
Which Harriet hurriedly raised her hands in denial.
And the call from before with the rude stranger had all been forgotten by then.
