Early Bird

Lily led me to Transfiguration, which she explained, was the magic of transforming something into something else. I wonder just what we will be doing for class, I could do so much with this! I get in and sit next to Lily.
A cat sat at the desk. I smiled at it and suddenly it changed into a woman! I gasp and stare. That must be very advanced!
"Hello, class welcome to transfiguration, I am sure you are all eager to start turning animals into goblets and matchbooks into books. We will not be learning that right away. This form of magic needs respect just because you can turn something into something else. Or even someone into something. That does not mean you should. Now open your books to page five. We will be reading first on the art of transfiguration."
I open my book and the class begins. That is when Sirius and James came in late.
"Black, Potter." She tells them. "Should I configure one of you into a pocket watch? That way one of you will be on time?"
"We got lost," James tells her.
"Then perhaps a map?" She asks him. "I am sure you do not need one to find your seats. Find one of your housemates after class who will share notes with you."
James and Sirius took a seat and the class continued.
I couldn't help but look over as I gave a little giggle at them for getting chewed out.
They sulk in their chairs and the class continues. I took my notes and we got assigned to do two rolls of parchment paper on what we learned. I walk out with Liliy when Sirius and James stop me.
"Hey!" They call. "Marie, can you help us with the notes?"
"Oh- me? I-I mean, well- y-yeah I guess..they probably aren't very good. It was a lot for me to wrap my head around. But I would love to help." I said as I gave a small smile
They grinned and went to the library with her. Lily came as well and they all did notes. Lily helps Marie organize her notes and the boys followed along
"So how's Hogwarts so far?" Lily asked as Marie looked at her. "Oh, yeah it's nice- I still find myself taken back by it all." Marie said as she gave a nervous laugh as a ghost passed by her.
"Yeah, it is, a lot." Lily agrees. "I am from a muggle home as well, but it is so wonderful with all this."
"You are a muggle-born too?" James asks Lily.
She nods. "I actually met Severus and he told me I was a witch. He helped me study since I was eleven. Still being in a magical place is strange compared to just books."
Marie could understand that.
"Anyways we better head to lunch," Lily says.
They all nodded and Sirius and James began to talk to Marie.
"You know, we should eat together," Sirius said smirking at Marie who blinked.
"We always eat together."
"Yeah I mean, like in the common room."
"Oh, no thanks." She said smiling happily.
Sirius pouts at that, he just got rejected by his oblivious Marie. How could she not know what he meant? Or worse, what if she did know? And that's why she rejected him?
"You could eat with me," James said as Marie smiled more. "No, sorry. I don't feel like it. Lupin already invited me."
"Lupin!" They both said and she walked off to Remus Lupin who was waiting for her.
How did he get to her first?
"Early bird catches the worm," Lily said. "Looks like we're going to have lunch together." She said as she gave a friendly smile, as The pair looked back to Marie entering the dining hall with Lupin to get their food
"Want to ruin their date?" Sirius asks.
"Yes." James agrees and Lily scoffed grabbing them both by their ears.
"No you two don't, we are sitting far away from them," Lily tells them.
-Meanwhile with Remus-
(Remus's POV)
"Ah, thank you for having lunch with me Marie," I tell her.
She smiles at me and nods. "Thanks for inviting me." She replies.
"Oh, no problem, I just thought it may be nice to get away from the noise," I said as he brought our food out to the hallways.
We went outside. Today was a nice day. I sit down with her on the bench outside.
"Thank you anyways, Remus." She says to me. "So how have you been?"
"Good, it is only the first week of school, but I feel more at peace than I have in a long time," I admit to her.
"I'm glad to hear that you're doing well. I'm still trying to find where I fit in." She laughed and smiled at me.
"Im glad I have you all as my friends."
I blush and pick up my fork. "I am glad I have you too," I tell her and she smiles at me.
She leans over and kisses my cheek. I think she means it in a friendly way, but man did it make me want to howl!
She smiled at me. "Also, I was wondering end of the month of you wanted to spend time with me? Maybe study together at night?" She asked as I stopped. The end of the month..was the full moon
"Marie I can't... during the full moon, I have a sickness. I can't tell you what it is. But during the full moon, I will not be in the tower."
She looks at me worried.
"Oh- uhm- okay yeah, that's okay." She said as she gave me a small smile, even though she was probably worried
"Maybe before that?" She asks and I nod my head.
One day I will tell her, I just don't want to scare her. I could not handle that.
