“Remus!” Sirius screamed through the chaos.
Remus stood right in front of a death eater, his eyes dazed as his body trembled. The death eater raised their wand and pointed it right at Remus, about to utter the killing curse.
Sirius rapidly jumped onto Remus and pushed him out of the way.
Luckily, both of them were able to duck in time. Sirius held Remus’ forearms, smiling widely, glad that they had escaped the spell. He took a quick look at Remus dazed state before hugging him as tightly as he could.
The smell of Remus’ cologne and chocolate, wafted into his nose. Sirius hadn’t smelt Remus scent in such a long time. He had missed it so much.
When Sirius finally let go, he watched Remus teary eyes focus on something behind him. Why wasn’t Remus as glad as he was? Sirius frowned as he turned back to see what Remus was staring at.
It was Tonks. Dead. From the killing curse that Sirius had pushed Remus out of.
Remus, without a care in the world for Sirius, weakly stood up and stumbled towards Tonks. As he got closer, his sweet confused face changed into a face full of unimaginable amounts of pain.
Sirius watched as Remus fell onto his trembling knees and held onto Tonks lifeless body, his voice growing hoarse from the repeated screams of Tonks’ name.
Sirius too, shuffled towards Tonks but not because he had wanted to mourn her death. But instead, because he wanted his lover for himself. The lover that Tonks had taken away from him.
“Get up remus! We’re gonna get killed if we just sit here!”
“I want to go with her” Remus muttered, allowing heartbroken tears roll down his scarred face.
Sirius felt his heart shatter.
A shatter that left his heart feeling as though it was made of brittle glass and had been directly struck by an arrow of heartache.
Remus wanted to die. With Tonks.
Sirius watched as the man he loved, cried over somebody else. He watched as his lover’s heart got broken by another.
Sirius no longer sensed Remus’ love for him. Remus had moved on.. for somebody else.
So this is the feeling of emptiness. The realization that Remus is no longer in love with him.
“Avada Kedavra!” Sirius heard someone shout from the distance.
Sirius couldn’t move, he couldn’t save Remus. It felt like he had been paralyzed from the heartbreak.
The curse entered his body as he felt his soul leave.
Then nothing.
