Epilogue
After making it back home safely, opting to go in Nyamo’s car this time alongside Chiyo and Sakaki, Kaori puts her small suitcase on the bed softly and sighs. That was the best weekend she's ever had. Even the first car ride had its ups, namely that she got to ride with sakaki. However the obvious best part of the entire trip was watching the fireworks with her, being able to tell eachother how they feel, and the kiss that followed. Unfortunately, it had come to an end, and she was worried that she'd have to go back to how it was before, constantly getting nervous and shaky around Sakaki, but never being able to tell her how she feels.
Kaori: “Oh! I almost forgot, she gave me this to open when I got back.”
She takes out an envelope from her suitcase and kinda fiddles with it, wondering what could possibly be inside.
Kaori: “It clearly must've been important if she was trying so hard to make sure I didn't open it before I got home…”
Unable to contain her impatient excitement, she opened the envelope delicately and took out a small piece of paper with some writing on it.
Kaori: “‘Dear Kaori. I'm sorry if I've ever misread your feelings for me, because I’m sure I have. I now understand how you feel more than I did before the trip, and I want to ask if you'll go out with me next saturday on a date. Sincerely, Sakaki’... Even her writing is… So cool…”
She wipes a small tear from her eye and hugs the letter close, wondering if life could get any better than this. She then puts her camera on her desk softly, as well as a bag she keeps all her taken pics in. She notices one slipped in, one she doesn't recognise. She shuffles through all the other pictures of Sakaki and gets to the one she doesn't recognise, realising it's a picture of an event she wasn't conscious for, but something she was present for. A picture of her and Miss Sakaki laying on the floor together and sleeping peacefully, she's leaning against Sakaki quite heavily too.
Kaori: “Wh- wha-...?”
She goes silent for just a few more seconds, blushing and trying to come to a conclusion about the photo.
Kaori: “........ WHO TOOK THIS PHOTO???”
She stares at the photo a bit more, before eventually hugging it close and smiling wide. She'd done it. She'd finally told Sakaki how she felt, and she'd finally gotten the thing she's needed all this time.
