Chapter 2
As she sees Sakaki sat in her desk, gazing dreamily out the window, she can't help but blush and stare. It's always been pretty transparent how she feels about Sakaki to others, but somehow she was one of few to not pick up on it, which made things understandably difficult. Nevertheless, she knew giving up now would be a waste of the time she's already spent getting close to her, so all she can do is keep trying. She sits at her desk, only a few desks away, and tries to focus on the lesson, but no matter how hard she tries, she keeps on looking back. Unfortunately for her, the daydreaming is cut a bit short.
Yukari: "Hey! Don't tell me you've been losing sleep too? Jeez, it's like every week one more of you kids starts dozing off."
Kaori: "Ah-!" She quickly looks ahead again, feeling a bit embarrassed.
Yomi: She leans in a bit to whisper "[Don't worry, if you missed anything just copy it from mine.]"
Kaori: "[Th-thank you!]" She quickly starts scribbling any notes she missed while Miss Yukari is getting herself distracted by some antics Tomo cooked up.
Most of the English classes they do are no different from eachother, Chiyo pays attention and even knows the answers to some stuff already, Tomo and Kagura end up competing for the higher quiz scores, Yomi just... Tries to cope, and Osaka dozes and dreams of a simpler life. As for Sakaki, she often writes everything down fast enough to have plenty of time for gazing out of the window, and for Kaori, that's perfectly fine by her. According to her own written down diary entries, that's all she needs to see to know she's her usual self.
Some time passes and the lesson finally ends, so Yomi, Sakaki, Kaori, Chiyo and the Knuckleheads™ all gather to hang out, until chiyo has a plan that could cut Kaori's work out for her, or at least give a guide to cut with.
Chiyo: "Oh, I know! What if we go to my parent's summer house again this weekend? It was so much fun last time, and Kaorin can come too!"
Kaori: Upon hearing this she immediately springs into action, already blushing at even the hint of the idea that Kaorin and Sakaki can hang out for a weekend. "I would love to go! Especially if Sakaki goes! And my club has nothing going on this weekend, so it'll be 100% fine!"
Yomi: "i guess it'll be pretty nice for a change of scenery"
Sakaki: "I'll go.."
Osaka: "Yayy, beach house fun!"
Tomo: "I love goin to the beach, this'll be awesome!!"
Yomi: "You look even more overexcited than last year..."
Kagura: "I don't blame her, I'm getting pumped just thinking about it too!"
Tomo: She suddenly gets an extremely smug smirk on her face "Ohhh, that first time was from before you were in our class, wasn't it? Well it was AWESOME the first time! And it'll probably be awesome this time too, are you sureee you can handle it?"
While the two of them bicker and Yomi tries to settle the situation, Kaori cannot help but stare at Sakaki, which luckily goes unnoticed, lest she feel embarrassed about her deathly crush on her.
Osaka: "Wow, you been starin' for a while now, huh?"
Ok, so maybe not totally unnoticed. Kaori's heart immediately sinks, she's messed it all up, now Osaka's pointed it out and Sakaki's bound to notice, and she might suddenly think it's weird and not wanna go, and...
Luckily for Kaori, Sakaki didn't even hear what Osaka said, because she was too busy thinking about the cat she saw this morning, so she took a deep sigh of relief, knowing she can rest easy for at least another day...
