Adoptions, break outs, Billionaires and a house elf.
I had just gotten out of my interview with the DMLE, due to my high profile status as the Boy-Who-Lived, I had Amelia Bones herself sitting in on my interview. I told her and the other aurors a story about Quirrel wanting to use my death to resurrect the dark lord through an evil ritual. My ability to convince people that bullshit is actually chocolate and have them eat it, is still going strong. Amelia herself assured me that she would be looking into it, I did a brief scan of her surface thoughts. She had mental shields in place but I was able to go undetected. I could tell that she did indeed want to look into it, but was disheartened because the minister would most likely demand they drop the case to 'save ministry resources'. Luckily for Amelia I already had a contingency in place.
A week later the daily prophet made record numbers when an article made by a Ms. Rita Skeeter swept over the nation. There was an 'unfortunate leak' of information and Rita ended up publishing an article all about how 'Death eaters in hiding had planned to kill our beloved Boy-Who-Lived!', in that same article there also happened to be a small interview with said boy. A quick 5 minute interview all about how the poor orphaned hero of the wizarding world just wanted to live his life free of You-Know-Who and that they would be very upset if it was just swept under the rug. Imagine if you were going about your business and half the people you had encountered during the day were former Death eaters! Needless to say the wizarding world got very worked up about the attempted assassination of their living symbol of hope.
I decided to focus on other matters for awhile, after Amelia had written me a letter stating that the case was actually being investigated and not just forgotten. I was reviewing my memories from my legacy character and going over the tomes I had retrieved from his tomb. I was trying to find out what exactly ancient magic is and I think I have a good idea. Regular wizarding magic is using the energy from your own soul to affect the world around you, of course you can also manipulate the magics of other entities and objects as well, but that is usually performed by first using your own magic to connect with said object/entity. Ancient magic, from what I could gather, is using the magic of reality itself, not the entities or objects within it, but actual manipulation of the cosmic fabrics keeping the world together. This is the same energies that the infinity stones themselves channel and regulate. By learning how to properly wield and control ancient magic I could then in turn wield the infinity stones! After discovering this I also have a theory about the creators of the differing containers for the stones, being able to harness ancient magic themselves. After all if magic is a universal force with magic users being found across the cosmos, then what's to say that ancient magic wielders aren't the same?
The infinity stones themselves are physical manifestations of a universes aspects, usually created by the elder gods to hold up the universes they breathe to life. During my research into these forces I came across another topic, celestials. Celestials believe it or not, are also beings that were purposely made by the elder gods as well. This explains how the celestials are capable of wielding infinity stones as they are in a weird, roundabout, cosmic sense, technically siblings... kind of, maybe? The point, is that they sit at around the same level of power and are created by the same entity. This also ties in to another cool thing I learnt about this universe, the vibranium here is actually the bone marrow of celestials.
So that meteor of Vibranium that crash landed on earth, did in fact come from a dead celestial. Possibly the one from Knowhere, but who knows. (Heh, who knows.) This also means that vibranium must have some form of magical property, which would help explain how certain gods become linked to the metal and how it seems to enhance the natural life that grows around deposits of it. I also found a few notes that state Uru, the metal used by asgardians, and the metal that Mjolnir is made from, is in fact an alloy with one of the components being vibranium. However I have no way of currently confirming this fact, so that remains a theory.
Vibranium is one of the universes most versatile substances, it's not just used for fancy weapons or super suits. Judging from Howard's research I believe the material that contains the space stone, the Tesseract itself, is some form of crystallized Vibranium, possibly mixed with other materials. The formula for Starkanium also appears to be right next to Vibranium in atomic number, not exactly an Isotope, but due to the weird bullshit physics of the universe I'm inhabiting it is possible to change Vibranium to Starkanium and vice versa without needing a large nuclear reaction. The two elements share very similar traits, with Starkanium being better for conducting mass amounts of energy and maintaing constant energy production with little to no decay. That is if you have the necessary knowledge to actually construct an arc reactor, because let me tell you, the parts for that thing are so fucking complicated it isn't even funny. I mean the amount of reactions going on in that tiny little device (or big one if your going by the one in the factory), is fucking insane.
Nevertheless I had come away from my studies with a better understanding of the bullshit logic that makes up my universe, a normal person might decide to take a break and let their brain cool off by performing a few leisure activities or just relaxing. I am not normal. I decided that was enough study into the science-y part of my reality and to continue looking into the magic-y part of my reality. When I had attempted to copy the memories of Quirrel and Tumour-mort back in the mirror room, I had struggled quite a bit. In part due to the physical pain of my hands burning, but also due to the two minds being so closely tied together on top off Voldemort's impressive mental walls. It turns out my memory copy only works while Voldie is in some kind of physical form, because his shade only had a partial hold on Quirrel's body, I only got a very small amount of information. While not useful for my current goals, it did give me a better understanding of a few magics he used. Mainly the Horcrux.
Souls are designed to grow and develop with their physical bodies, they tend to stagnate when not incarnated into a physical form. So when you store fragments of yourself inside of physical objects that were never meant to house that specific soul, the fragment itself starts to become... stale, for lack of a better term. The fragments don't have a full consciousness to work off of, they only have a small portion of fragmented memories and whatever emotions were raging in the main soul during their creation. Of course you can add memories and a sense of self to the Horcrux, i.e. by having the horcrux be some form of book, in which you can write all about yourself. But otherwise that's all they get and because their vessel is not a living body that they haven't been born into, they can no longer grow and develop like a soul should. This is why Tom's soul pieces all have this horrible aura, it's also why the horcruxes don't act as anchors for the other horcruxes. A horcrux will anchor the part of the soul that still retains it's sense of self and ability to grow. It's like if you could cut off your hand and it was able to still exist separate from you, with maybe a few of your memories and a very basic self preservation instinct, and as long as your hand was fine the rest of you was completely immortal, you could also cut off your foot and have two anchors. But they would be unable to anchor each other, just the main body.
Does that make sense? who fucking knows. I'm the one with all the memories of the ritual and its effects and it still confuses me sometimes. With my brain all studied out I decided to turn to a few of the more 'applied' tasks that needed doing. I finally got around to making a rune alphabet out of Tony's super secret language, the runes have an affinity for concealment and magics that involve keeping things hidden. Due to the fact that the language was made with the intention of secrecy.
This allowed me to add in a few rune schemes into my electronics that prevented others from even being able to read them at all! Those schemes are usually added in last by the automatic enchanters I got set up, I've set up the new production lines at my business, so I can rest easy knowing someone like Lucius won't be able to reverse engineer my shit and shaft me. Lord knows that man could find away around the copyrights and patents.
The magic sight on my glasses has been improved, as well as a few features allowing internet access and a more advanced user interface. I can see magic, but it doesn't really help in identifying what certain spells are, as everything and everyone has their own unique signature that effects the visuals. So the same spell cast by two different people will look different, also the intent affects the looks as well. If you fire an expelliarmus with anger, it can in fact disarm you with more force, possibly stinging your hand or spraining your wrist.
I actually learned that from my Legacy character. All those in game upgrades that effect spells, such as the incendio spell also creating a ring of fire, was in-universe, my character discovering the different ways intent and emotion impact spell casting.
With all this experience with runes under my belt I decided a few modifications to the Pottery were in order, specifically the library. I managed to work a rune scheme within the forbidden section that links the Potter Grimoire into every book in the library. Now any book within the library can be accessed via the Grimoire, making it the true pinnacle of family knowledge. I also figured out how to make charms of recalling using runes made from my blood, if a book has been claimed by the family magics within the Pottery then it shall always return to the library if it has been removed for too long. I needed to use my blood to tie it to the blood wards and the family magics, the rune schemes are laid within the walls all around the Pottery and worked into a few of the wards as well. With a top layer of concealing runes made from the secret Stark language, making them completely hidden from anyone not of my family. There are new charms and runes I've worked into the Grimoire that also physically transcribes the content of the books into it, meaning in the off chance certain library books get destroyed, their contents will be preserved within the Grimoire.
I also added in the rune equivalent of a user interface (magical interface?), making it easier to sort by topic, author, date, book, and a few other features. A few expansion charms worked into the book cover allows for a near endless supply of pages without having the book be taller than me. Once all the schemes are active and working I leave the Grimoire to transcribe the contents of the library, it's a process that should take a few days at most.
I grasp my wand firmly, the familiar feeling of external dimensional energies and my own internal magics co-mingling welcomes me. I focus on channeling the external energies while letting a tiny bit of my void magics leak through, I begin performing a large circular motion with my wand. Sparks of bright white light and complete inky darkness flash into existence in front of me, they become more frequent until they eventually form a full circle of dark swirling energy and bright white lights. A very different look to the traditional eldritch magics, but it gets the job done. As I step through the portal I am now standing on a private beach, I can hear the calming waves of the ocean and the night sky above me is clear with a beautiful view of the cosmos. I look ahead to see a small mansion off in the distance, sitting on the rocky cliffs bordering the beach. With a quick thought my cloak materializes around me as a plain black robe, I pull the hood up and become completely undetectable. I begin my trek toward the mansion.
Once Tony Stark had made his announcement on shutting down weapons production, a lot of people started selling stock and my account manager had been discretely buying it up. The Potter family accounts are now one of the majority shareholders of Stark Industries, just under Tony Stark himself. Because of this I now qualified for a position with the board of directors, but I have no desire to deal with Stane trying to buy me out and take the company, so instead I'm going to visit the CEO himself.
I'm standing in the driveway of the Malibu mansion, I use the interface on my glasses to ping the local network.
SYS_CoolGlass.mag: Anyone home?
SYS_JARVIS_OS.Main: You are attempting to access a private network, the authorities will be contacted if you do not desist.
SYS_CoolGlass.mag: Would it help if I said I owned a majority share of SI?
SYS_JARVIS_OS.Main: Your claims require verification. Even if they are true you should be sitting on the board of directors, not trying to gain access to the CEO's private abode.
SYS_CoolGlass.mag: Sending data packets... You tell me if I'm legit.
SYS_JARVIS_OS.Main: The data you have sent has been verified. Regardless my previous statement still stands, why have you come here?
SYS_CoolGlass.mag: I wouldn't be taken seriously due to my appearance, also there is the fact that the board is currently trying to lock Dr. Stark out of the company and I'm more interested in speaking with the man himself.
SYS_JARVIS_OS.Main: I am unable to verify your claims.
SYS_CoolGlass.mag: We both know you're more than a simple AI, you can take a peak at the more private sides of SI if you really need to. You don't have to play dumb around me.
SYS_JARVIS_OS.Main: You possess information that could result in your permanent incarceration.
SYS_CoolGlass.mag: I'm a minor so they'd probably go easy on me...I hope. Regardless I have lots of other things Dr. Stark will want to see, like this FILE_ARC_REACT_V_0_1.ENCRY
SYS_JARVIS_OS.Main: You should not have this information. How do you possess this?
SYS_CoolGlass.mag: I made it myself :), Not my finest work I admit, but resources were limited at the time.
SYS_JARVIS_OS.Main: Dr. Stark is willing to speak with you.
SYS_CoolGlass.mag: Cool, I'm in the driveway. Don't freak out when I suddenly pop into existence.
CONNECTION TERMINATED
I pull down my hood, dispelling the invisibility. I casually stroll up to the front door and wave at camera I see in the porch. I am obviously underage, so hopefully that fact spares me an instant tasing.
I hear a British voice through the speaker.
"Please follow the lights, do not attempt to enter any other part of the building."
I give a simple nod, "Lead the way".
The door unlocks, and I watch the lights along the ceiling light up in a trail toward the main public space of the house. I find myself entering the main foyer with the indoor waterfall and piano. I see Tony motherfucking Stark dressed in his work clothes, judging from all the oil stains on his shirt, I can make out the faint light of his arc reactor. Even though he appears unarmed I suspect that he has some way of defending himself, especially after escaping a kidnapping.
"Alright kid you can tell whoever your working for that I only do meetings with the man in charge." Tony states impassively.
"I'm not working with anyone, I'm here on my own"
"Okay so you, on your own, managed to somehow get the designs of my arc reactor, all by yourself." Tony says, his eyebrow raised in an unimpressed visage.
"Of course not. I came up with the designs myself, you'll notice how the schematics don't mention palladium at any point. It's because I didn't have access to any at the time, so I had to make do." A screen on the wall lights up, showcasing the schematics I had sent Jarvis just a few moments ago. Tony glances at them, then looks back at me.
"Okay so you designed a rudimentary arc reactor, a really rudimentary arc reactor, seriously what's the power output on that?" Tony asks breaking his serious facade as his inner engineer breaks free.
"The power output is basically nothing, I just needed a slight charge to jump start a reaction and thought 'yeah one of the most complicated devices on the planet will do the trick'"
Tony snorts at my statement, "I like your style kid, so if you really are on your own, then what's the deal with the whole stock market thing?"
"Well you see, I am the last living heir to my family fortune." Tony raises his eyebrows at me in slight surprise, but gestures for me to continue.
"Because of this, I am allowed a certain bit of leeway concerning my families investments, one of said investments being the purchasing of stock in Stark Industries."
Tony questions me "Okay but normally stock in SI costs a LOT of money, there is no way you could have predicted it dropping."
I simply smile "On the contrary, I have a special ability that allows me to know things I shouldn't"
"What like magic?" Tony states plainly.
I chuckle "Yes. You could definitely call it magic." I continue on,
"Anyway as the last living member of a family with considerable wealth, I took it upon myself to search for any living relations, no matter how distant. Imagine my surprise when I find out a branch of my family settled in America and ended up marrying into a family with the last name Stark."
"What, so that makes me your long lost uncle or something?" Tony states with a bit of snark in his voice.
"Distant cousin actually. My name is Hadrian James Potter, look up your ancestry and you tell me if we're related" I state with a slight challenge in my tone.
The display on the wall changes to a family tree, starting with Tony and tracing up his fathers side until reaching a woman by the last name of Potter.
"I can confirm his statement sir." Jarvis voice echoes from the ceiling.
"Huh, distant cousins. It's a closer relation than I expected but still, you're gonna have a hard time claiming the company with that."
I let out a light laugh at Tony's statement "Dr. Stark, I can assure you I do not need your company at all. I am quite well off and have my own business ventures providing me with more than enough money." This gets another raised eyebrow from Tony.
"What I need is for my closest adult relation to legally emancipate me via contract." This is true, While I would like to know Tony because fucking Iron man (and Harry's desperate need for family) I do not expect him to suddenly adopt me. I am a strange child showing up from nowhere, claiming myself a relative right after he's been kidnapped, he has every right to be suspicious. But due to my whole DNA copy thing from a while back, we are technically much more closely related then distant cousins. A close enough relation where his signature on a magical contract would be valid.
"Hold on, emancipation? what are you talking about kid." Tony is, understandably getting confused. SI has had dealings in Britain and things like emancipation are not very common there. At least on the muggle side.
I stay quiet for a second, pondering on what I should do. I ultimately decide that if I'm in for a penny, I should be in for a pound.
"Dr.Stark, what I am about to show you, is something that you must never, NEVER, speak of to anyone else." This puts Tony on high alert.
"Woah, kid what are you-" I raise my hand in a silencing motion, Tony looks slightly affronted at the gesture.
I slowly pull out my wand, Tony is getting visibly confused. I point my wand toward the waterfall and with a slow pulling motion the water stops falling and begins lazily flowing along the air toward me.
Tony's eyes widen and his hand moves up to cover his mouth in shock. I make sure to wave my wand in a very showy manner, with the water following my movements, I end my little show by having all the water collect in to one large blob. I start forming it into a recognizable shape. A full life size replica of Iron Man takes shape out of the water, with one final jab of my wand the water solidifies into ice. Leaving a perfect 1:1 scale ice sculpture of the Iron Man armor standing in the middle of the room.
Tony immediately begins circling the sculpture, looking at it from all angles.
"Jarvis did you get any of that?!" Tony states, the disbelief in his voice.
"My scanners did pick up some form of energy spike, however I regret to inform you that it caused a slight malfunction and they went offline for a few moments."
I speak aloud, "Yeah magic and electricity tend not to play well together, however there are a few workarounds."
Tony's attention snaps back to me, "Magic?! As in actual, Lord of the rings style, fire breathing dragon, Magic?"
"Well yeah, I mean look at me, black robes, magic wand, cool wavy hair and badass scar. It's kind of embarrassing you haven't put it together by now."
Tony sputters in response. He collects himself and asks "Okay, just ignoring... that, for a second, what's this whole emancipation thing got to do with this?"
"Simply put, A magical contract signed by my closest living relative of legal age, will allow me to claim my families lordships and assume full control of my houses finances and assets."
Tony replies simply "And you need this now, because...?"
"Because the madman who murdered my parents is still alive and once he regains his strength he will seek to finish what he started. I need every political favor I can curry, every financial asset I can access, any boon no matter how minuscule, in order to defeat him once and for all."
Tony stares at me, "Okay... that sounds like a story, there is definitely a story there. You're a, what 12 year old? Who is worrying about being murdered. A magical 12 year old who is worried about being murdered. Okay, tell me everything... please." Tony states in a very confused, what the fuck is my life, tone.
I start at the beginning. I tell him about that Halloween night, my life at the Dursley's, my escape into the wizarding world, the strange dreams of a past life and my year in Hogwarts. I don't know what time it was when I started, but it is very late by the time I finish.
"Also I made sure to freeze any bugs that were left around here, I'm picking up...4 in this room right now. It's amazing what you can do when you combine magic and tech." I pull out a small device from my pocket, I'm making sure SHIELDRA has no way of getting any information on me.
Tony snaps back to alertness, "Why is my house bugged? what the hell?!"
"Don't worry I have some upgrades I've written for JARVIS that should fix the problem, I'll fill you in on SHIELD later." I pull out a small note book and hand it to Tony. He opens it and flips through it.
"Hey how did you learn my code- right, magic, never mind. Hmmm... This is some pretty good code kid, but some of these parameters don't make sense. What's this here?" Tony points to a certain line I had written down.
"Oh, those are lines that allow programs to use certain spells. You'd have to rework the hardware to allow the electronics to utilize magic, It's a bitch to do but I'd recommend it. You can use all sorts of charms to prevent fire and water damage, among other useful things."
I turn the pages and show Tony a section I had written that contains the translations for spells to coding, as well as some of the runes that need to be printed onto the circuitry. I hand him another small book that contains a list of the spells I had written down with their descriptions, wand movements, incantations and other trivia I found useful.
We end up getting very sidetracked, with our 2 super genius minds going in to overdrive. Tony ends up having Jarvis create a separate project folder where he copies my notes on runes and the plans needed to convert all his electronics for magical cohesion. He also adds in a reminder to find a way to scientifically categorize and analyze magic. By the end of it Jarvis has the bots printing out the materials needed to create an enchanter so Tony can get to work on magic proofing his stuff. I inform him he'll need to find a magic user to actually charge the runes until they can become self sustaining. He simply tells me that I am not dropping the bombshell of having a secret magical cousin on him, and then running off without helping.
Once Tony has all the theory work needed we eventually resume our initial conversation topic.
"Okay magical emancipation, so you need access to your entire wealth before you come of age, because the ghost of your parents murderer is out there plotting your demise?"
"Uh-huh, don't forget all his evil henchmen who now work in the magical government." This causes Tony to let out a humorless laugh,
"And I thought my government was bad."
I explain to him magical contracts and how technically every living thing has magic, it's just wizards and witches have a lot more than an average person. Allowing him to sign the contract and have it work as intended.
"And once I sign it then what?" Tony asks, I give him a confused stare.
"Well... then we're done I guess, You can continue doing whatever it is you do and I'll continue preparing for a magical war." Tony gives me a flat look.
"I have been called irresponsible many a time in my life. However, I am not letting a 10 year old, reincarnated or not, go off and fight Sauron or whoever the fuck is trying to kill you. If it's finances and playing the political game you need help in, I'm your guy. Contrary to popular belief I do actually perform my duties as CEO and am very good at them, (when I'm not shitfaced anyhow)."
This is true, whenever Tony took an active role as CEO he performed his duties amazingly. It was usually Stane that ended up putting him on the path of a week long bender, in an attempt to make Tony seem like he was unfit for the role.
"Uh... wow, I don't actually know what to say."
"I understand, being a neglected orphan and finally finding someone who gives a shit can be overwhelming. Regardless of how distant our relation is, if it's enough for magic. It's enough for me, I'm not letting my 10 year old cousin do this alone, now tell me what other options there are."
I'll admit I haven't had someone care for me like that in a long time. The Harry part of me is practically screaming for any type of familial relationship. The rest of me has been removed from humanity for so long that I've forgotten what it's like to have a parental figure, the more I think of it, the more I start liking the idea. I've had nights where I was experimenting in the Pottery and made a breakthrough, I'd turn around to quickly tell Hermione about my discovery, only to realize I was alone. I've had similar instances where I've wanted to ask Ron about certain topics, to find myself sitting alone in an empty manor. Or when I'm practicing my casting and I go to ask Neville if he'd like to join, only to realize I'm not at Hogwarts. I started to feel the emptiness of my home.
"I...I'm 14 in a month." I state. Why is it so hard to say what you mean whenever emotions are involved?!?
"Uh-huh sure thing kid, you're not gonna distract me that easily." I struggle, trying to find the right wording. Tony interrupts my thought process,
"Listen kid, I know you've had to go it alone for a long time now, and I'd never dream of trying to replace your parents. But... if you need someone, even if it's a distant cousin... I'll be there. If you want me to be." I was not expecting Tony Stark to speak to me with such raw emotion in his voice. I'm completely overwhelmed, I was always shit when it came to emotional stuff. Tony must really have a bleeding heart for the young genius types to open up like that.
"I...There is another option." I say quietly, Tony simply stays silent. Patiently waiting for me to continue.
"There is a small ritual, where you can perform a blood adoption. This will make you my magical guardian and allow you the ability to manage my finances. Also I may take on a few of your traits, you basically become my third parent genetically, but we should be close enough for my appearance not to change much, if at all." I say keeping my voice steady, there is also the fact that technically I am closely related to Tony, thanks to the DNA copy. So if any physical changes were to occur, they would've already happened.
Tony seems to think on this before looking up at me and speaking,
"Okay, let's do it"
Tony hadn't known what he was expecting when Jarvis alerted him of an intruder. When he saw a small British child he initially thought that perhaps the kid was being blackmailed into breaching his systems. Finding out the kid was working alone and that he was nearly as smart as himself was a hard pill to swallow.
Finding out the kid was some sort of long lost magical cousin made his brain shutdown.
Once he started talking with the kid and finding out more about his life Tony quickly came to the decision that he was NOT leaving this kid alone. Tony knew what it was like to be a young easily influenced super genius with no stable parental figure, a lot of his worst decisions could've been avoided if had better guidance as a kid. Becoming Iron Man was all about righting wrongs, becoming a better person, He'd be damned if was going to let a child go through the same shit he did.
It was easy enough to convince the kid to sleep over, it was even easier to convince the kid to help him get his tech to play nice with magic. Seems the kid has an engineer in him. They spent the night re-configuring the private servers in the house, the kid showed him how to build and use an enchanter (Very similar to his laser printer). The bots warmed up to the kid pretty quickly, he was pretty sure he'd regret letting the kid give Dum-E the ability to conjure fire retardant foam. Having Jarvis being able to run off of and scan magic was definitely NOT a regret however, the scans Jarvis got from the spells the kid performed were very interesting.
It was also fascinating to see the kid casually bend space-time by just opening up a portal to his house. He came back with these thing called ward-stones that they used to prevent any other magic users from getting in, they had to finalize it with a drop of blood to connect them to the wards. It was weird being able to feel the wards in the back of his head, being able to just know when someone stepped onto the property took some getting used to.
The kid had sent off a letter to some goblins (And wasn't it crazy that goblins were bankers and not some D&D monster?) about getting the whole blood adoption thing sorted, Tony was hoping that he could keep it from Pepper (Who the fuck was he kidding?).
The goblins were apparently "efficient little buggers" as the kid put it, so as soon as the next day the kid portalled him across the world and introduced him to magical Britain. Tony decided to wear one of his good suits and while he felt a little out of place he didn't get many strange looks. He had made his own pair of glasses inspired by the kids so he was able to take Jarvis along with him, the scans all along Diagon alley were crazy. He was picking up everything from large energy spikes to spacial folds.
They walked into a building made from marble with a dragon statue on top, the poem he read inside would've been cute if not for the armored midgets guarding the door. As they walked into the main lobby Jarvis was gathering all sorts of data about how the space inside the building had been compressed.
The kid took him to a private room with his account manager, a goblin by the name of Meathook. (Is that a standard for goblins? Or did his parents hate him?).
They both took a seat in front of Meathook's desk, The goblin speaks and holy shit those teeth look like fucking knives!
"Heir Potter, Lord Stark, Before we begin there are a few questions I am required to ask."
Wait what did he call me? "Hold on, last time I checked I wasn't a lord."
The goblin merely smiles in response, "On the contrary, your wealth meets the requirement for Lord status. Of course you would need to fill out the necessary paperwork in order to be recognized officially by the Wizengamot."
"You mean the wizard parliament or whatever? No thanks, I've already got enough on my plate."
Meathook merely shrugs and continues, "As I was saying, firstly, Heir Potter can you provide the necessary oaths to show that you are not under any form of coercion?"
In response the kid slowly takes out his wand and points it straight up, " I Hadrian James Potter, Heir to the house of Potter, do declare I am of sound mind, body, and soul, and am under no form of blackmail or coercion. So mote it be."
As the kid says this a small light briefly shines from the tip of the wand, Jarvis also picks up a very brief spike in energy.
Meathook speaks while pulling out a small white stone, "Good. Now Lord Stark, In order to determine if your intentions regarding Heir Potter's finances are noble or... malicious, we shall use this stone here to determine your intent."
Tony raises his eyebrow, "So the magic rock is a lie detector or something like that?"
Meathook gives a very wide, sinister smile. "Or something..."
He continues, "Simply place your hand on the stone and give an oath that you intend to fulfill all of your duties as caregiver to the best of your abilities, managing the Potter financed without intentionally siphoning funds or sabotaging investments. If you are deemed truthful, we can move on."
Seems simple enough, Tony thought. Taking a moment to form the sentence in his head, Tony places his hand on the stone, ignoring the slight tingle and speaks,
"I, Lord Anthony Edward Stark, declare my intentions to be noble in the managing of house Potter's finances until the current Heir comes of age. I vow to fulfill my duties as a caregiver to the best of my ability, so mote it be." Jarvis helped to write the speech and fed it back to Tony after analyzing the one Harry had given.
The stone glows white and Meathook lets out a pleased hum,
"Seeing as you're still alive that means we can move to the final step." Meathook puts the stone away and pulls out a vial of a glowing white liquid.
"Wait what do you mean still alive?!" Tony states in alarm, Meathook continues on as if he hadn't spoken.
"Simply add a drop of your blood to this potion and once Heir Potter drinks it magic shall make you his third parent. Be warned that by doing this he stands to inherit Stark industries as your heir." Tony ponders on this before speaking.
"How could he inherit SI? It's completely removed from the magical side of things, it's just a regular company, granted a very rich and successful company, but the point stands."
"It is a company started by your father and inherited by you, lord Stark, magic views this as an inheritable title that someone of your blood could claim. Although you have no magic, by having a magical heir, any companies or properties you own are added to your name and possibly your house if you choose to create one. We have a pamphlet we hand out to the muggleborn parents that own various businesses such as yourself." Meathook takes a breath before finishing,
"If you do not choose to create a house of Stark, all of your ownings will be claimed by the Potter family magics once Heir Potter comes of age. Whether he chooses to keep the names separate is his own decision."
Tony thinks on this before finally speaking, "I'd still have final say on whether he inherits though right?"
"Of course, I'm merely stating it is now a possibility should you pass without writing a will. However probable that may be." Meathook states neutrally.
"Okay... I'd like to go ahead with the adoption." Tony states, his voice holding the strength of iron. Meathook hands a dagger to Tony,
"Prick your finger and let 3 drops fall into the vial." Tony carries it out and the potion goes from glowing white, to a deep pulsing crimson.
Meathook holds it up to the light to observe it for a moment, before handing it to Harry.
"Here you go Heir Potter, the final choice is yours." Harry looks at the vial in his hand, his face a complete stone wall (God how fucked was this kids life to develop that good of a poker face?). He looks toward Tony, Tony simply gives him a small nod.
With that Harry downs the vial in one gulp. Magic swirls around both Harry and Tony for a brief moment before settling down. It is done.
Meathook wears a small smile as he pulls out a large folder of documents and hands them to Tony, "Congratulations on your adoption Lord Stark, here are all the documents for the current investments and businesses that belong to the Potter accounts."
Tony starts to look through them, having Jarvis scan the documents as he goes.
"Huh, pretty impressive kid. Nice tech startup, I'll send you a few designs to magic-ify and sell. Maybe you could help SI branch out into the magical world, huh?"
Things were pretty good after the adoption, I am now officially known as Heir Stark and Heir Potter. I spent time going between the Pottery and Malibu, I set up a doorway that was hidden within the Malibu mansion to allow easy transition between the two location. Tony would occasionally drop by to look through the Pottery library, trying to learn as much about magic as he can, or in his words 'forces of the universe that we haven't properly discovered yet'.
I even helped him add runes to the iron man armor! The amount of complex tech in that thing was astounding. We were able to add shields against spells as well as work in a few disillusionment charms that could activated at will, as a sort of stealth mode. Because the arc reactor is based of the Tesseract element, it is able to generate magical energy, effectively keeping all the runes and spells tied into the armor charged. We also added a few safety features ensuring in the event the armor was taken and couldn't be recovered, that it would completely transfigure into ash. We also theorized it could technically block and unforgivable as it wouldn't hit the person inside, but the armor itself. We however decided not to test that theory.
I showed Tony my V.B.B and he got really excited with my use of Vita rays, we started a side project in the hope that we could use them to repair the damage to Tony's chest cavity. Tony also started studying potioneering, wondering if it could be possible to subject the potions to Vita rays during the brewing process to create new medicines. He also walked me through making my own miniature arc reactor, we worked in runes as well to ensure the best power output. We also made a new one for Tony that had runes in place to help delay the blood poisoning.
That reminded me to give Tony all my notes on the Tesseract, however it would take some time for him to fully go over them and synthesize the new element. But the relief that he actually had a solution to his inevitable death, was visible on his face. With my V.B.B completely slimmed down with the miniature arc reactor and Tony experimenting with the merging of science and magic, I was left with some free time. It felt nice to have a father figure in my life, or uncle figure? We were still getting use to each other. But regardless it was nice.
It did however remind me of a certain man, one Sirius Black to be precise.
I made my way into the doorway chamber and through the door into the Malibu mansion, I was informed by Jarvis that Tony was in the workshop. I make my way down to be greeted to ACDC blasting throughout the space and Tony creating the repulsors for what would be the Mark III.
"Hey kid what's up?" He greeted me casually.
"There is something I need to tell you." I state, a bit of anxiety in my tone.
"Oh, is everything okay? You don't have any other distant cousins do you?" he says jokingly, turning to face me. However when he sees my face he quickly follows up with,
"Wait you don't actually have anymore distant cousins? do you?!"
I let out a light sigh, "No. But I do have a godfather that was framed and locked up without trial."
Tony stares at me, I stare back. We both stand there in silence for awhile before he speaks.
"Kid... your government is really fucked. Remind me why I can't whisk you away to live here?"
That conversation eventually devolved into a whole thing about wizard prison, dementors and the fact that 'yes Tony souls are real, there are afterlives and gods, and there are demons that can take your soul'. It took a whole lot of convincing for Tony to stay behind, but after explaining to him that he had no way to counter a dementor, that I possess an artifact of Death that lets me hide myself completely, I eventually one. (Yes that did also spark an hour long conversation about Death being a real sentient being.)
After a lot of mother hen-ning from Tony I set off to Azkaban. I kept my hood up the entire time, so thankfully the dementors didn't take notice. Also this time I wasn't doing a stupid hallow trial so my mental shields were actually working properly. It wasn't until I came across a very familiar corridor with a dried up vomit stain that I realized that whole dementor encounter from earlier actually took place in the physical world and not some weird pocket dimension.
My curiosity got the better of me when I ventured down that corridor and arrived in front of the room that held the grimy old mirror. With dread in my stomach I gently opened the door... the room was empty, there was nothing in there except for a few broken shards of the mirror lying on the floor. Before I left I made sure to burn them.
I made it to the wing of the prison that held the worst of the worst. the guards rarely came up here, with the patrols being mostly made by dementors. I came to a cell that held a scruffy black dog sitting in the corner. I made sure to place a strong notice-me-not ward and a silencing ward before taking off my hood.
The dog immediately notices me and transforms into a grimy man with long shaggy hair, who resembles Gary Oldman. He doesn't have the strength to stand, instead he shambles over toward the bars on all fours, a wild look in his eyes.
"J-James?! JAMES! I'M SORRY JAMES, I SHOULD HAVE KILLED THAT RAT BASTARD! IT'S MY FAULT YOU'RE DEAD! OH GOD, JAMES!" Yikes, the ministry is really not doing anyone any favors by locking up the psychopaths in a place that makes them more psychotic.
I let out a loud bang from my wand, it slightly startles Sirius, but the light seems to come back to his eyes. He just sits there looking at me, waiting for me to speak, I oblige.
"I'm not James but you're not far off, regardless I'm here to get you out." I tap my wand to the door, casting a silent spell to unlock it. As it swings open I step into his cell. Sirius backs up a bit and continues looking at me.
"No...You're not James. But you look...Harry?! No! Harry is a baby, you can't...How long have I been in here?" He asks softly, I reply,
"Longer than you think." With that a portal opens up beside me, I gesture toward it and Sirius takes hesitant steps, until he finally passes through. Before I follow I make sure to leave a little surprise behind.
I follow Sirius into Kamar-Taj where the ancient one has prepared the healers to treat Sirius for Dementor exposure. He doesn't respond much, but he briefly become coherent enough to thank us.
Days later another article by Rita makes the headlines as she covers the story about how 'recent escapee Sirius black may actually be innocent!'
You read the heading right dear reader! I Rita Skeeter, reporter extraordinaire, have come across some shocking information during my hunt for justice that may prove Sirius Black to wrongfully convicted! When Sirius Blacks cell was discovered empty, investigators found a message left behind by the man himself. It was written in blood and it simply says 'PETTIGREW LIVES. THE TRAITOR' initially one may think that Black escaped to kill Pettigrew for some form of revenge for the dark lord, however if Black is calling Pettigrew a traitor then perhaps Black wasn't the one to betray the Potters, but Pettigrew was. But Pettigrew is dead I hear you ask, how can that be? As the official story goes only a finger was ever found of Pettigrew, however multiple muggles were also killed in the blast belived to have taken Pettigrews life, and there was much more of them left behind. Add to the fact that Pettigrews finger was completely unscathed, with a simple, clean separation from his body and well... It starts to look like Mr. Pettigrew was perhaps setting Black up to take a fall.
But what about Black claiming to be guilty? I hear you ask. We all know how he loudly screamed out, how he had betrayed the Potters. However what if he believed himself responsible for their deaths, not because he had caused it, but because he felt guilty for not catching Pettigrew sooner. If it was you dear reader, would you not place the blame upon yourself during your weakest moment? during the pain of grief? Everyone knew how close Sirius Black and James Potter were, perhaps he felt responsible as James brother in everything but blood.
But surely he was found guilty at his trial? I hear you state. But dear reader... and try to stay calm for this news shocked me as well. Sirius Black NEVER had a trial! That's right! The heir to an ancient and noble pureblood house was thrown into Azkaban without trial! If it could have happen to someone as powerful as a black, then what's to stop it from happening to you? We must ask the ministry to correct the mistakes from the previous ministrations and finally give Mr. Black the trial he was denied!

Needless to say the paper made waves both in public and the ministry. There was talk for awhile about sending out dementors to find Sirius, but the interview I gave skeeter stated that I would not support a dementor presence in magical Britain, and that I wanted to know for certain who the REAL traitor was. So the ministry was forced to comply, in order to ensure that however I made a brief visit to a certain someone.
I laid back in the nice cushy chair within the Ministers office. Soon enough Cornelius Fudge opens the door and once it closes behind him, wards I've set up temporarily come to life.
I take off my hood and clear my throat. Cornelius jumps and spins around to face me,
"Hello Minister, nice of you to finally join me. Please take a seat." I gesture to the guests chair on the other side of the desk.
"I don't know how you got in here but I'm contacting the aurors immediately! When they get here-"
"I said..."
"Take. A. Seat."
The shadows in the room pulse, and Cornelius immediately goes silent, his words dying in his throat. He meekly wanders over and sits down.
"Now then, I arranged this meeting just to go over a few...things of importance." Fudge just continues to look at me.
I place down a written statement from house Potter requesting a trial for Sirius Black. Fudge looks at it and finally speaks up,
"W-Why would you want a trial for Sirius Black? H-he betrayed your-"
"He MIGHT have betrayed my parents, we would know for certain if he actually had a trial. Minister." I state, with an unamused tone in my voice.
"There are very few things I care about Cornelius, family is one of them. So until I know for certain that Sirius Black is innocent or guilty, I will not rest until I find the truth." Fudge goes to speak again but I cut him off,
"I don't care if it makes the ministry look bad. Your ministry is full of corrupt bigots who would gladly return to Voldemort if he returns."
"N-now you see here-" I slam my hands on the desk and lean forward, the rooms grows darker and Fudge lets out a squeak.
"You see here Fudge, your pockets are lined with Death eater gold, your hands soaked in the blood of innocents. Your refusal to do what is right will end with everyone you know, DEAD. If you cannot perform your duty as a servant to the people properly, step down before I take you down. This is the only chance your getting, I will not give you a second one."
I rise up out of the chair, Fudge manages to speak.
"T-they were i-innocent, t-the imperious-" I interrupt again.
"And you believed them? Here's a helpful little tidbit Cornelius, the dark mark, stains your very soul. You have to be of complete sound mind, body, and soul in order to receive it. How about you get your aurors to pull a death eater out of Azkaban and have them questioned under Veritaserum. Just say it's part of the investigation into Black."
Fudge seems to think on my words, I'm scanning his mind. As much as he annoys me he isn't actually malicious, well not at this point. But if he isn't taught a lesson soon he will get people killed. I adopt a softer tone.
"I am sorry for my rude interruptions and tone minister. But I needed to make sure you didn't have Malfoy whispering in your ear, I don't want to see you fail. But if you continue the way you are people will die, Quirrel has shown me that even with Voldemort dead, his presence is still felt." Fudge flinches at the name, but he manages to nod.
"Y-you have given me a lot of things to think on Mr. Potter." I give a small smile in response.
"You aren't a bad person Cornelius. However your undersecretary seems to have it out for muggleborns, I would look into her dealings if I were you." This gets Fudges attention.
"Dolores? Why would she..." He trails off, I reply. "I don't know, but she has had a hand in keeping muggleborn wizards and witched in low ranking jobs, even if they qualify for higher positions. It only serves to damage the ministries performance and our standing with the wider wizarding world." I pull out a folder containing many damning pieces of evidence for Umbridge, as well as proof to back up my other claims.
"I don't expect you to believe me, you should verify these files to ensure I'm telling the truth." He starts looking through them as I make my way out of the office, I turn around to see him holding his head as he looks through the documents. I go to speak again,
"Minister, would you like to know something? It involves my confrontation with Voldemort, I'll warn you however you may wish I hadn't told you." Fudge looks over at me,
"W-what is it?" he replies. I respond "It is about the person who was working with Quirrel."
"You know who was working with him? who?"
"Voldemort" I reply plainly.
He can only manage a simple, "What?"
"Voldemort didn't die that night in Godric's Hollow, he dived into darkest depths of magic in an attempt to reach immortality. His body was destroyed, but he still, just barely, clung to life."
Fudge hangs onto my every word, his jaw slack, eyes wide and face pale. I continue, "He was spent time as a wandering shade, before clinging to Quirrel in an attempt to regain a physical body. He spoke to me about that night, about my parents. He offered to train me, to take me on as an apprentice. Of course I refused. Although I managed to kill Quirrel, Voldemort's spirit still escaped, he's out there, plotting, waiting."
Fudge is trembling at this point, he takes a while to regain his composure. I finish off my speech,
"You understand why I was so angry earlier, don't you?" Fudge nods and lets out a quiet "yes".
I simply nod my head and turn to leave, I call out "Stay safe Minister." as I open the door, dispelling the privacy wards. I see Cornelius go around his desk and pull out a large bottle of Fire whiskey.
Sirius had recovered during his time in Kamar-Taj, while he was not 100%, he had visibly improved. He was well enough for me to converse with him, I shared my story with him, he laughed and he cried... mostly cried. But by the end of it, I had a godfather again. I took Sirius to meet Tony when I mentioned the blood adoption, we found Tony in his workshop and Sirius made a comment about how the runes on Tony's tech reminded him of his flying motorcycle. After that Tony essentially kidnapped Sirius and had him help make Howard's dream of a flying car come to life. It was a nice thing for Sirius, being able to socialize and work on hobbies again, the man was very smart in his own right. He head to be to make something like the marauders map and becoming an animagus during his school years.
Sirius mentioned how some of the runes he learnt came from the black family library and after a bit of coercing, I got him to agree to take me to Grimmauld place. Stating that he needed a house and that me and Tony could help paint the whole place red and gold to spite his family (unsurprisingly that was what convinced him). Tony had CEO shit to do, so it was just me and Sirius standing in front of the doors to 12 Grimmauld place.
"It really is a grim old place huh?" I state casually. Sirius snorts and replies "Yeah, wait till you see the inside. Can't wait to see what my old harpy of a mother did to the place."
Sirius was the current lord, much to his chagrin. I had dragged him to Gringotts to take up the mantle so that, A: he could have actual finances, B: An easier way to claim a trial, and C: to spite his mother. (guess which point convinced him?).
We enter into and old dusty hallway, immediately a house elf appears before us. "Blood traitor has returned, oh what would mistress say if she could see how far the family has fallen?"
"Holy shit! Kreature you're still kicking it?! you old bastard." Sirius states in shock.
I speak up "How shameful of him?! How shameful of you! A house elf insulting his lord?! His family?! You should be given clothes and thrown to the wolves!" I then gesture to the room around us,
"Look at the state of this house! No self respecting lord would be caught dead in this pig sty! Someone has been shirking their duties." My statement causes Kreature to stand to attention and start babbling about his duties and how he'll be a good elf and get to cleaning. I turn back to Sirius and he just gives me a look of bewilderment.
"WHO DARES ENTER THE HOUSE OF BLACK?! FILTHY BLOOD TRAITORS, GET OUT!" Seems Walburga woke up. I move to stand in front of the portrait, carefully sidestepping the tripping jinx on the troll foot by the door.
"House of black? More like the lair of a banshee! What kind of lady of a noble and ancient house screams and shouts like a toddler throwing a tantrum?! Show the proper decorum of a lady fitting you stature." The painting stares at me in shock for a moment before speaking,
"How dare you?!? My lord shall-" I cut her off,
"Your lord is dead. I killed him. I am Hadrian James Potter heir to the house of Potter, Boy-Who-Lived, I defeated lord Voldemort, he lead all his little inbred pure blood followers to ruin and was responsible for the near extinction of your house. You must be a fool to still think of him as a lord. Now listen painting, because I will not repeat myself. Only speak, when spoken to. If I wanted to hear your opinion, I'd dig up your corpse and reanimate it. Don't think the pathetic little charms on your portrait will stop me from doing away with you. " After saying this I send out a bolt of fire laced with void energies. It hits the corner of the painting and leaves it permanently burnt, the woman inside flinches away from it and looks at me with fear.
"Do you understand?" I ask through gritted teeth, Walburga merely nods her head.
I immediately turn back around to face Sirius, with a smile on my face I ask, "So, shall we get to looking around then?"
Sirius just stares at me, jaw slack. He eventually speaks, "Pup...What the fuck?"
After that it takes us a few days to get the place livable, Sirius fulfills his dream of painting the place red and gold. I manage to reconfigure the wards once I learnt that Sirius had me as part of the family. This allows me to take a look at the wards of Grimmauld place and I end up giving them a complete overhaul. I removed the parts that targeted muggleborns and muggles, but still kept some of the nastier security features, the magic here was old and felt alive. I'd feel like I was killing the house by completely reshaping the wards. Once the overhaul was completed I set up a doorway to the Pottery in a secret back room of the house.
Sirius was surprised and delighted to see I had reclaimed the old Potter property. He spent a lot of time here when my grandparents took him in, and even though it technically wasn't the same house, he still felt joy to see the place rebuilt. I should mention the doorways to Malibu and Grimmauld aren't in the hidden doorway cellar, they're a part of the wall in the library. They look like fancy paneling just to fill up space on the walls, however if you know how to activate them, they open as a doorway into Grimmauld and Malibu respectively.
Tony joined us occasionally in Grimmauld to help modernize the place and to get Sirius accustomed to electronics, He enjoyed being able play music whenever he wanted. Both Sirius and Tony would also come over to the Pottery to visit me nearly daily, Myself and Sirius would also join Tony in Malibu whenever he was home alone. It didn't even feel like we were in separate houses, it just felt like one massive mansion, I could walk from London to the British countryside to California in less than a minute. It was great.
During a visit to Grimmauld I was chilling in the library, reading through a few of the books. Sirius let me copy a few to add to the Pottery, he wouldn't let me read the really dark ones until he felt I was ready, past life or not. He would teach me dueling and ways to utilize dark magic without losing myself in it, Once he felt I had progressed enough he would let me look through the darker tomes.
Anyway back in the present I was sitting in the library no longer reading my book, instead I was thinking on a very important task that needed doing. I came to a conclusion and announced,
"Kreature!"
With a pop the old house elf appeared before me, "What can Kreature do for young master?"
"I understand that the late master Regulus left you with a task? I can help you fulfill it, if you wish."
Kreature gets wide eyed, he pops away and shortly returns holding a locket in his hands. "Kreature tried! Kreature tried so hard to destroy the stupid locket! But Kreature couldn't!"
I gently get Kreature to calm down, "I know Kreature, you did your best and that is commendable. You served your master well. Let me finish what he started."
With a sob Kreature hands me the locket, I hold it by the chain. I admire the engravings on it, before speaking in the tongue of snakes.
"Open"
Immediately whispers fill the room, with a blood red eye staring at me from within the locket. My mental shields hold strong, but before I can consume the soul shard in the typical way I feel a stirring in my chest. Something within the void portion of my soul shifts and my mouth opens instinctively.
My mouth opens wider, it opens to point of unhinging but I do not feel pain or discomfort. I feel my void magics reach out and pull , and then I hear screaming as a tiny shard of light gets pulled from the locket and I swallow it down my throat.
My jaw clicks back into place and I feel my magic beginning to slowly assimilate the soul fragment. I seemed to have picked up a new trick from my dementor encounter. It is a much more pleasant sensation then the old way I must admit, no sudden influx of memories, no intense focus or concentration. Just a nice smooth process.
However the magic and memories are taking longer to break down and assimilate, that gives me time to take them in one by one I guess, but still it's only a method I can use if I don't require information immediately.
With that out of the way I transfigure a permanent copy of the locket to give to Kreature. The little elf is absolutely devoted to me now, Sirius is gonna shit bricks when he finds out. Anyway I should head back to Pottery, I have a display case ready just for this locket!.
It's shortly after returning to the Pottery that my encounter with Kreature makes me remember something.
"Oh shit! Dobby!" Honestly I was so busy with everything recently I had forgotten about the little guy.
With a pop Dobby appears in front of me, I have warded against house elves but by calling for Dobby I had given him permission to enter.
"Great Harry Potter sir be calling Dobby! Dobby is not worthy!" Oh jeez, alright lets just jump into it.
"Dobby" I say gently, "Have you been taking my mail?" Dobby gets a guilty look and starts pullin his ears. "Dobby is a bad elf! But Harry Potter must no return to Hogwarts!"
"Hey, woah. Dobby don't hurt yourself, it'll make me sad. Can you tell me why I can't return?" Dobby merely shakes his head.
"Okay... how about I guess and you can nod or shake if I'm right or wrong, will that work?" Dobby's eyes widen and he nods enthusiastically.
"Okay, is something dangerous going to happen this year?" Dobby nods. "Does it involve you-know-who?" Dobby thinks on it, then nods. "Does it involve a diary?" He nods with so much strength he nearly falls over.
"Let me show you something Dobby." I take Dobby to the locket sitting in its display case.
"This locket was just like the Diary you are talking about" Dobby's eyes widen dramatically, I continue.
"But I managed to remove the magic of you-know-who from it, I did the same with this ring I'm wearing" I show Dobby the former Gaunt ring.
"I'm the only person I know of that can purge these items, so if the diary is going to be in Hogwarts then I have to go. To make sure no one else gets hurt" Dobby bites his lip and starts trembling,
"Oooh, Harry Potter sir is too noble and kind! Harry Potter truly is a great wizard sir! But Dobby is still worried!" I give Dobby a patient smile,
"How about we make a compromise? You can check in on me while I'm at Hogwarts and if I can't handle it, you can pull me out. Deal?" I reach out my hand, Dobby slowly takes it.
"Harry Potter shakes hands with Dobby like an equal?!? Oh deal! Harry Potter sir is truly the most kindest wizard in the world!" Dobby hands me my letters and I let him know he is free to visit if he ever needs a break from his master, I get another round of 'The great Harry Potter' and afterward he leaves.
I set to writing my replies, telling those close to me that a house elf had stolen my mail and that I would tell them about it in person. My most recent letter from Ron asks if I want to join him and his family with collecting this years Hogwarts supplies, I send him and affirmative and then head over to Malibu and ask Tony if he wants to accompany me as my guardian.
"So, this Lockhart guy is a total fraud?" Tony asks,
"Yeah, he's as magically powerful as a niffler." I reply, both myself and Tony strolling down the cobbled road of Diagon. We were meeting up with the Weasley's outside Ollivanders.
"I have no idea what that is kid, But I'll assume it means he's shit." Tony says with a slight air of bemusement. You'd think him out of place in his fancy suit within the wizarding world, but he still oozes confidence and power even here. After that article about him in the prophet I could even see a few witches checking him out when they thought he wasn't looking.
We meet with Arthur, Ron and Ginny. Molly and the twins went off to gather potion supplies and Percy is finishing up at a Summer internship.
I greet Ron and Ginny, Ron starts up a conversation while Ginny blushes and sort of shuts down. I can hear Tony introducing himself to Arthur and vice versa. We meet up with Molly and the twins and we all make out way to gather this years textbooks. Molly starts asking Tony about how he came to be my guardian and things like that, luckily we had a cover story and Tony can bullshit with the best of them. After that Arthur can't contain himself anymore and starts asking Tony all sorts of questions about muggle technologies and other things, much to Molly's mortification.
We enter the bookstore to see the large crowd of people who have gathered for Lockhart's book signing. Ron speaks,
"Did you see our book list this year? Our DADA professor must be a bloody huge fan of his." Ron says gesturing towards a poster plastered with Lockhart's face.
I hear Tony mutter under his breath 'and Pepper says my EGO is bad...', then I go to respond to Ron.
"I wouldn't be surprised if he is our professor, by the looks of it the man loves himself way too much."
My statement causes Ron to shiver, "Oh I really hope not."
It's then that Hermione finally finds us, "Harry! Ron!"
Hermione runs over and grabs both of us in a hug, "How has your Summer been? And Harry what did you mean when you mentioned a house elf stealing your mail?"
"Oh, that is a long story." Before I can continue, Tony comes over to us.
"Hey kid who's your friend here?" Tony asks, he's carrying a few books that caught his interest and I can see he's scanning the area with his glasses by the way his head is tilted.
Tony introduces himself, "Tony Stark, Harry's guardian, nice to meet you kid."
Tony hasn't revealed himself as Iron Man yet, however Hermione still picks up on the name, "You're that billionaire that was kidnapped! Uh, I mean, Hermione Granger, nice to meet you as well."
Tony chuckles at Hermione's lack of decorum, by now Lockhart would've probably come over to pester me. However I specifically placed a notice-me-not on myself that was specified toward him. because I'm really not in the mood for any bullshit right now. Unfortunately I didn't make one for a certain Lord, who enters the store and immediately notices me.
"Ah, heir Potter, we meet at last. Draco has told me much about you." Lucius Malfoy says as he steps forward. I immediately respond,
"Anything good is completely true and anything bad is an exaggeration I assure you."
Lucius slightly cocks his lip at my words, it's then he turns toward Tony, "And you must be Mr.Stark? I read about your recent article, however I found it lacking in information. What do you do exactly?" Its sounds like a legitimate question but with Lucius you can't tell if he's asking out of curiosity, or he's secretly saying that he doesn't think much of him.
Tony immediately tries to find out what makes Lucius tick, he achieves this by trying to push his buttons.
"Well my career and lifestyle can easily be summed up in about 4 words, Genius, Billionaire, Playboy, Philanthropist." Tony states, his casual body language showing that he doesn't register Lucius as a threat.
"Billionaire? Surely that must only be in... muggle currency." Lucius says, putting emphasis on the word 'muggle'.
"Obviously, however I have enough 'muggle' currency that even if I were to transfer it into dub-loons or whatever you use here, that I would still be a billionaire. I'm in the top 5 richest people in the world actually, my spot changes depending on my current spending habits." Tony says this with an air of nonchalance.
Lucius seems to be slightly stunned by the revelation, "That... would qualify you for lord status." He speaks reverently.
"Yeah the goblins kept referring to me as 'Lord Stark' and as much as I like Game of thrones, I really don't care enough to go through all the paperwork necessary to become a grand wizengamma or whatever it's called." Tony definitely knows the proper terms, he's just doing what he does best and trying to annoy Lucius.
Lucius however is mostly bewildered, I hear him mutter 'Don't care enough?!', eventually he speaks, "I see...You have given me a lot to think about 'lord' Stark. I must return to my duties."
Lucius hastily retreats, but not before I see him sneakily slip something in to Ginny's cauldron. Arthur and the Weasley's were a bit stunned by the whole interaction and Ron turns to me.
"Mate, your guardian is amazing." he whispers, I simply snort in amusement.
