It's Up to Me
Chapter 01

Harry approached the large window near his bed. With conflicting emotions, he opened the window and leaned against it. It was well after midnight. Apart from a few faint stars, it was a pitch-black night with a cloudy sky. The wind was bitterly cold, chilling him to the bone. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, feeling the cold air fill his lungs. He shook his head, trying to clear his mind of all the troubling thoughts that had been plaguing him lately. He found comfort in the blackness of the night, which might have disturbed someone else. He needed a quiet moment to think after his frightening encounter with the basilisk.

He never imagined himself doing such crazy stuff before Hogwarts. Why is he such a self-sacrificing fool? Why can't he enjoy school like others? Where the hell were professors when these events happened? Why did he feel the need to act in that manner? Perhaps not anymore. He always desired a happy, safe life.

His parents gave up their lives to keep him alive. His parents wouldn't be pleased, he believes, if he put his life at risk. No matter what, he must stay away from these situations. Saving Ginny is a good thing. That is true. But, this does not imply that she is completely innocent. Everyone was put at risk as a result of her stupidity. She knew writing in the diary was a bad thing. But she did it anyway. She was raised in the wizarding world while he was not.

He would have given the diary to a professor if he had realised writing a diary that was written back was a terrible idea. He let out a frustrated grunt. And the memory of what had transpired this year made him shudder. The bullying he had experienced this year had left him feeling vulnerable and alone. He couldn't understand why the professors hadn't done more to help him. He didn't want to feel unsafe in his first home, and he longed for some sense of safety.

His thoughts then turned to the basilisk, a creature so terrifying that it had left him with awe and fear. He couldn't believe that no one had recognized it for what it was, except for Hermione, who was only in her second year. He sighed, wondering what other information the wizarding world held that he was unaware of. The situation is becoming strange. This year's Voldemort was a teenager, as compared to Voldemort last year. Was that some sort of test? There must be something about him that he is unaware of.

That has nothing to do with money. Of that he is certain. There must be something for Voldemort to have targeted his family. He groaned in frustration once more. He knew that the answer to his questions about Voldemort and his family lay somewhere within the wizarding community. He is also aware that the old wizard won't respond to these questions, though. He needs to educate himself about the wizarding community. Yet how...? He stared at the gloomy sky, wondering how he could find out more about the wizarding world. Because of Hermione's love of authorities, he couldn't take the chance of asking. And Ron is not going to tell him anything. He doesn't have any other friends. That thought flashed through his mind like lightning. He has only two friends. He needed more friends, he realised, and he needed to make an effort to connect with other people.

He can think about friends later. And then, he remembered Dobby. Maybe he can help him. He hummed happily. How should he find him? Perhaps he should send him a letter or call out his name? Will it be enough?

"Dobby?" He doubtfully called out Dobby's name.

Dobby showed up, out of nowhere with a loud pop. Dobby's bright lemon long shirt and cotton socks caught Harry's attention as he simply blinked at him. Even though Dobby seem deathly pale and unhealthy, he looked delighted at seeing him.

"Great Master Harry Potter calls Dobby?" Dobby exclaimed while Harry winced at the loud sound.

"sh… Don't shout Dobby. I don't want to wake up madam Promphy." Harry said quietly.

“Dobby is sorry, great master Harry potter sir. How dobby help you sir?” Dobby asked while holding his ears tightly as a punishment.

"I need to learn about the wizarding world. I don't have anyone to ask Dobby. That is why I am asking you. Will you help me with it?" Harry begs with his eyes to understand.

"Dobby helps great master harry potter sir. But Dobby likes to be your elf, sir.” Dobby said quietly while bouncing in excitement.

“I thought you wanted to be free dobby?” Wondering about that, Harry asked.

“Dobby wants to be free from the evil master. But Elves can’t get free, great master Harry potter sir. We die without a bond.”

"Oh…" He frowned. That might explain Dobby's pale appearance. He needs to find out about the elves too then. There has to be a reason for what Dobby is saying.

“Alright dobby, how do I accept you as my elf?” Harry asked.

“Great master Harry potter saying ‘I accept Dobby as your elf.”

“I accept Dobby as my elf.” He said, after nodding to Dobby.

“Dobby accepts.” Dobby's voice was full of excitement.

Harry experienced a pleasant and comforting sensation. Then, out of nowhere, a small magical glow in the colours of white and gold formed in front of him. It was incredible. He had never experienced something comparable. But it faded within a few seconds. When Harry glanced at Dobby, he noticed that his skin tone was brighter and that he appeared more healthy.

"So Dobby?" After a moment of silence, He inquired.

"Master Harry, In Hogwarts, there is a place called 'room of requirements'. The elves called it come and go room. Master Harry can think of a library. It can stop time too. And there were lots of lost things in the room. Master should be careful with that. Some with nasty curses. And master harry needs to take food. The room can not create food." Dobby said with a calm voice.

Harry blinked. Then He frowned at the sudden behaviour change. Wondering if Dobby was okay, he began to be concerned for his little friend.

"Hmm… Dobby, are you alright?" He asked.

"Dobby is alright Master Harry. Master is very powerful."

"hmm. Okay… Thanks." Harry furrowed his brow a little.

" The room of recruitments? I think I heard of that from Hermione. Anyway, where should I find this room?" After a few moments, Harry broke the silence.

"On the seventh floor, master harry. I can take you there."

"Well… Let's go then." Dobby took Harry's hand and popped him onto the seventh floor. He narrowed his eyes at the wall as he stood on the seventh floor, the side of the tapestry from which Barnabas the Barmy tried to teach trolls ballet.

"What now Dobby?" He tilted his head.

"Master Harry needs to think what the master wants three times."

'Ah... Let's do this then. I need a place to know all the information about the Wizarding world. I need a place to know all the information about the Wizarding world. I need a place to know all the information about the Wizarding world.'

Suddenly there was a huge door in front of him. With a sigh of relief, he opens the door. A gasp escaped his lips as he saw what was inside the room. It was a huge library. Bigger than Hogwarts. He dreamily walked inside. The library was a place of tranquillity and beauty, filled with the promise of magical knowledge and possibilities. It was a sight to behold, with tall bookshelves filled with ancient tomes, each one full of secrets waiting to be uncovered. The air was thick with the smell of leather and parchment, of knowledge and wisdom.

But that was only the start of the wonder of this place. Everywhere one looked, exotic plants and flowers filled the air with their fragrant scents, a reminder of the wonders of nature and the magic of life. Along the walls, ivy and other climbing plants wound up and around the shelves, a lush carpet of greens and purples and reds, bringing an almost overwhelming sense of life to the place.

At the centre of the library, an ornate fountain bubbled and sparkled, the sound of the running water soothing and calming the mind and soul. Beside it, comfortable chairs and couches, invite and tempt one to sit, relax and let the book’s words wash over them. Every corner seemed to contain a new discovery, a new secret waiting to be explored. It was a place of wonder, of knowledge and exploration. It was a place of dreams.

"This… This is wonderful." Mused Harry.

"Mm room of requirements…? Can you stop time without me ageing?" He hesitated and waited for something to happen. And suddenly a blackboard appears in front of him.

"wow… That's cool. Maybe 1 day is good for the first time."

"It is master Harry. I be collecting food for Master Harry for a day." He disappeared after saying that.

"Ah… Alright, Room… I need to learn the basics of the wizarding world. Can you recommend some books for me?" He asked thoughtfully.

Without a warning, a few books flew towards him. He collected all of them and sat on one of the dark green couches. The titles of the books are certainly interesting.

British wizarding world

Muggle-borns guide to the wizarding world

Goblins and Gringotts

All you need to know about the wizarding world

Hogwarts A History

Ancient and Noble houses

He chooses to read the Muggle-born guide to the wizarding world first. As he was beginning to read the book, Dobby returned with a food basket.

"Dobby Brings food, Master Harry. Master should start the day."

"Okay. Room, I like to start a 1 day, time stop." He said while waiting patiently.

The door was closed with a loud sound. Two clocks. appear on the entry with one marked with ten minutes and the other with 24 hours. He smiled looking at that. He again returns to reading.
