The one where they visit Gringotts.
Are you sure we shouldn’t at least have a look at Ollivanders?
I hate it when Chat latches on to an idea. ‘Us having a wand won’t actually help us in any way you know, and more to the point we can’t go and just demand a fuckin’wand from him.’ I thought while spreading a bit of jam on bread
‘I'm just a three year old, he would never sell me a wand right now. Why do you even need a wand? It’s not like we actually need the bloody thing.’
A wand can help you with precise and meticulous work. In my opinion you should carry a control unit with you.
‘I’ll see about it when we are of age, until then a second hand wand will work.’ Truth be told, I'm a little excited about getting a wand too. I was always curious about what kind of wand I might get.
“Cass! Are you okay? You seem a bit distracted.” my mother pulled me out of my dreams of wand
“I'm fine, just excited that I'm going to the alley today.”
“You’ve gone to ally before right?” my grandfather asked while walking into the room, i saw him sitting down while dressed in brilliant blue robes.
“Yeah but it’s all a bit of a blur now. Tom destroyed the entire place when he came to power”
Make sure you don’t stretch these lies too much.
‘I know what I'm doing chat’
“Well then my advice will be to enjoy it to the fullest today.” my grandmother said a little sad
“I will.”
“Then I guess we should be on our way, eh son” grandfather said while finishing his tea.
“Sure, are you sure you don’t wanna go with us mom?” I asked my mother one more time.
“It’s fine you guys go. I need to clean up my inventory today.” she said giving me a hug and making her way towards basement
“Okay then I’ll see you later” I said to both females and started walking into drawing room
“So you okay with me apparating us both.”
“Oh yes, I need to let my magical core grow up a little more before I can begin to do stuff like that.” I told him while we walked to the apparating point around the corner of the street.
“I thought your magical core was already mature enough.” he asked curiously
“Oh no, physically I'm just a three year old, no different from the rest.” this stopped him dead in the tracks
“But last night I saw you do some really strenuous things around the house.” he asked, still trying to wrap his head around the entire thing.
“Well for menial stuff like that I use ambient magic around us, I don’t need the magic for that. But for stuff like apparition, metamorph abilities, and swift dodging I need magic from my own core.”
“You were using ambient magic without getting tired or sick?” he almost shouted, which caused me to look around to see if anyone is there who we will need to obliviate.
“Well it really boils down to practice so that you don’t get tired fast. And sickness only comes when you mix wild magic with yours.”
I said while shrugging and urging him to move on.
“You must be really proficient if you’re nonchalant about the whole thing. Many researchers and scholars have been trying to find a way to use it without risking their life in the process. The Department of Mysteries have been at this for the past few decades and you’re telling me it is that easy?” his voice getting more high pitched with each word.
“I never said it was easy. You really need to be in touch with your magic to even attempt this. The problem I faced while doing this is not that I have to hold it, but that I have to keep the bloody thing separate from my own magic. One wrong move and you can turn yourself into a squib.”
“I can see how that can be a problem….. Please do me a favour, don’t mention this to anyone. I don’t want unspeakables to make you a lab rat and work out how you do it.” he told me standing in the apparition point
“You’ll get no complaints from me.”
“Alright, are you ready?” he asked while grabbing my shoulder
“Yup” ‘nope’
Everything went haywire the moment I said that, it felt like I was being pushed and pulled in all directions at the same time. It felt extremely uncomfortable the way my body was forced to contort. And then suddenly I was still and standing in the middle of the street, but not for long as the contents of my stomach didn’t agree with the ordeal.
“I thought you had apparated before” he said while moving a few steps away, to make sure nothing got on his shoes.
“First experience of this body.” I said while trying to control my breathing.
“Well we are here” grabbing my attention and motioning me towards the scene in front of us.
There were no words to describe it. The entire alley was brimming with people going about their business, buildings standing at such a wonky angle that without magic it would not be possible to even build them. The entire thing was in one word…’magical’
“Fuckin’hell. Now this is a proper wizarding world.”
Rowling really did create something amazing.
‘No arguments here buddy.’
“Come on you can take it in as we go through it” my grandfather started moving while taking my hand and gently dragging me along. And it was an experience I don't think I can forget, seeing the shops I have spent my entire childhood reading about is a whole new experience. Finally we reached Gringotts and got damn if I didn't know that magic was at play here then I'd be running the other way because none of the pillars were at a straight angle.
“Come on it’s like you’ve never seen Gringotts before” that pulled me out of my thoughts, I saw my grandfather a few paces ahead of me.
“It’s been a long time since I have seen it so put together”
“What?” he asked turning towards me
“Hermione, Harry and Ron, I think, broke in here and used their dragon to escape. In the process they destroyed half of the building.”
“You guys certainly lived a colourful life.” he said while we were walking in the building and while I was observing goblins for the first time.
“You have no idea”
“Next!” the goblin teller called for us
“Goodmorning”
“Hmm how can I help you today?”
“We would like to visit our vault please”
“Key?”
He asked for it which my grandfather made on his hand appear by flicking his wrist once
“Hmm, go with him, next!” goblin said while pointing to one standing a few paces back from the teller.
“Charming fella,” I said but for some reason my grandfather looked a little apprehensive. I was about to ask when he said.
“Here comes the hard part” while pointing to the cart
“What are you afraid of carts? God you’ll be useless on a roller coaster”
“I am” I turned towards him urging him to go on.
“Clair took me on one, worst experience of my life.” he told me while sitting in the seat
“Here we go” it was a pleasant experience god knows why people don’t like roller coasters
“Well that was fun” I proclaimed, which my grandfather definitely not agreed with if his glare was any indication
“Here vault number 431” the goblin announced and opened the vault with the presented key
“Thankyou” my grandfather told him while we moved inside, and god damn I was expecting a small vault roughly the size of a walking closet, but this place was enormous. It was a small library, there was a small pile of gold there too but what really grabbed my attention was the amount of books that lined the shelves.
“The amount of knowledge here is astonishing.” I said while picking up a book on alchemy which I didn't understand a single bit so I quickly moved towards a book on battle magic.
“That is thanks to your grandmother Alina Fall” he informed me with pride in his voice.
“This is all her? Damn she had books on every subject it seems.” and that is not an exaggeration there were books on every single subject, including dark magic if I'm not mistaken,
“Lovegoods are known to go in depth in all kinds of knowledge.” now that got my attention
“Wait, your mother was a Lovegood??” I asked him thing about another Lovegood that I'm sure to meet
“Yup, why? Do you know them?” he asked a little curiously while also a little afraid of the answer
“In my second year a girl with blond hair and silvery eyes will come and make Ravenclaw her home, a girl who will see creatures no one can see, she will stare into the distance while babbling about the most random shit you will ever hear about. Her name is Luna Lovegood, one of the bravest people I know and now I find out I'm related to her.” I told him while getting excited.
‘Damn, I remember when I was a child I had the biggest crush on Luna Lovegood!’
Are you sure you don’t have it anymore?
‘Yes I’m sure’
No he isn’t
‘Shut it’
I thought while flipping throughNewt Scamander’sbook `Fantastic beasts and where to find them`. It was amazing, just brilliant.
“It sounds like you’re describing someone with mage sight.” he said getting interested
“It’s either that or she’s a seer. I know her mother pandora love good is a seer, and that she will die in a few years” this put a dampener on the topic
“It’s a little unsettling to see my three year old grandson talking about death so casually”
“Sorry, eventually you just get numb to it.” I can't exactly tell them this is all my imagination now can i?
“Can we get to what we came for?”
“Oh right,” I said, remembering our main reason for the journey. But turning to the books again. “I'll come back for them.”
“Sure, wands are there” he said, a little amused, pointing to a big case filled with boxes some were ornate while others were plain. And surrounding them were a lot of worn-out wands, all in different shapes and styles.
“Why are there so many” I asked picking up the boxes and opening them up, finding the wands in them a little more, taken care of
“A lot of them are from the main line and extended family, some of them are from the time your great-great grandmother. She relieved some ashwinders of theirs.”
“She was an auror right?”
“Yes, why?”
“Just checking.” Because that's what I always thought she would be after Hogwarts.
“What exactly are you looking for?” he said looking at me while I was picking up and flicking to every wand like a mad man
“I don’t know, that’s one of my biggest flaws actually. I'm impulsive, but I'm also quite indecisive. I don’t know what I want, but I know that I want it now.” I said getting a little frustrated, there were so many options.
“Okay”my grandfather said laughing while turning to the books
What exactly are you looking for?
‘Aesthetic really’
Aesthetic?
‘Don’t really need a functioning wand, I'll get a proper wand for it when I'm 11. Right now I just need a sick looking one.’
Then take that one
‘Which one?’
The one Ollivander made for Nora Chat said and I finally found it. It was exactly like I remember it, a dark wood surrounded by some sort of metal in a beautiful design.
‘Well it does look pretty cool to be honest.’ I said while picking it up and felt a weird tug in me different from all the other wand.
It doesn't conduct magic, yet I can feel it reacting to me in a very peculiar way, what an astonishing wand.
‘The keepers said it can only be used for opening the gate to the repository.’
Hmmm, it is quite extraordinary.
“Did you find anything?” my grand father asked from the otherside of the room
“Yes”
“Well lets see it.” he said while walking towards me, and finally seeing the wand i was holding and rolling in my fingers. Which was a little hard due to metal and the fact that I'm a little out of practice.
“Son, that wand is nothing more than a ornate stick . I don’t even know why it is here with all the other wand” he said, taking it from me and giving it a look.
“It reacts to magic Nora and I wield” I told him while he was expertly rolling it in his finger
“Nora? Your great great grandmother?”
“Yeah, it doesn’t conduct magic but I only need something to point my magic out of in delicate situations, and for show.” I told him while trying to get a better grip with it
“Hmm it is quite unique, it’ll attract a lot of attention. Are you sure you want this?”
“Oh yes.”
“As you wish, are we done here?”
“Yup let's go and get you a lordship.” I said while laughing at his discomfort
“I already have one, you know.”
“It doesn’t hurt to have more”
“No but it’ll be a headache that's for sure.”
We walked out of the vault while I was chortling at his grimace
Maybe this’ll be a breeze
