If you dance I'll dance, and if you don't I'll dance anyway
Summary
There's a dance coming up for the students at Hogwarts, and everyone is raving about it, everyone except for one person. Remus Lupin just didn't like dances. It had nothing to do with the fact that his best friend was going to go with someone else. Nope not at all.Ok, maybe a little
Note
Hii guys, this is my second wolfstar work so please be kind lol, It was rushed but i just realized it's been a year in between posts so I felt like writing something short and cute. Enjoy, and comment what more you'd want to see. :)

If there was one thing everyone was raving about at Hogwarts, it was the upcoming Winter Dance. Girls whispered to their friends, counting down the seconds until their crush would ask them out, and the boys helped each other gain the courage to do so.

Remus Lupin, however, was perfectly content on not having a date to the dance. In fact he wasn't even sure he wanted to go to the dance. I mean, what was all the hype over getting dressed up just to sit around while possibly the worst music known to man played on extra loud speakers? He could think of better ways to make use of his time, like going to the library, or going to the greenhouses. Yeah maybe that's what he'll do, go down to the greenhouses and-

Remus was quickly pulled out of his thoughts when James waved his hand in front of his face. "So do you think she'll say yes?" James asked. Right, just because he thought the dance was stupid didn't mean his friends also shared the same opinion.

No doubt James was asking about Lily, and if Remus was being honest, he thought Lily might really say yes. Whether on purpose or not, she'd dropped hints over her knew changed perspective on James. No matter how much she denied it, he'd even caught her blushing while talking about him.

"You know what James, I think she might." Remus smirked, as he reached over for some jam to put on his toast.

"Really?" James asked, now looking at Remus in complete mesmerism. Remus was lying to himself if he said he hadn't seen that one coming, but it was sort of endearing. He knew how much James really cared for Lily, and he knew that they, one day, would make a very happy couple.

"Yes really." Remus chuckled, taking a bite of his toast. God, he wondered if he'd ever be able to openly care for someone that much. Probably not.

"Now you're the only one who needs to find someone to ask." Peter stated as he helped himself to another sausage roll. Peter had already asked out their mutual friend Amelia, and she had gleefully said yes.

"What? What about Sirius?" Remus felt a bit stunned. When had Sirius asked out a girl to the dance? And why was he the apparent last to know? Remus felt a small twist in his stomach at the thought, Okay, so he didn't want to go to the dance, but that didn't make the thought of Sirius asking out a girl hurt any less.

He knew he needed to get over this fixation on his friend, it was unrealistic, and completely selfish of him, but Sirius was an extremely difficult person to get over. He was just always so lovely. It didn't help that Sirius was also the most attractive person he'd ever seen. Ever. Fuck he so was screwed.

"Nah, I'm waiting for someone to ask me instead." Sirius said, as a faint blush rose to his cheeks. Remus loved when Sirius blushed. It didn't happen very often, but when it did he could feel small butterflies in his stomach.

"Well, I'm sure they'll ask you soon enough." Remus said with a tightened smile. It wasn't a lie. He knew plenty of people would love to go as Sirius' date to the dance.

Sirius smiled, fixing himself his own toast and jam. "Well, we'll see", he said as he carefully spread the jam over the toast, making all the edges even.

Remus chuckled to himself. 'We'll see.' Yeah right. No doubt the person Sirius had his eyes on was already head over heels for him. Jesus, Remus seriously needed to get a grip. It was just a dance not a marriage proposal.

Fuck. Remus didn't know how he'd be able to survive Sirius getting married. Maybe the Gods would be kind enough and wait till Remus got over whatever this thing was. But, most likely not. He wasn't typically a "lucky" person.

Remus was revising for his upcoming exam in the common room when he felt a dip in the couch he was sitting on.

"Honestly Remus, you'll be fine. You already know all the material, stop stressing yourself out mate." Remus looked over to find Sirius sitting facing towards him, his legs crossed over each other as he reached over to pick up the book Remus was very tentatively looking over.

"Just making sure.." Remus muttered as he let Sirius grab the book and watched as he placed it on the other side of the couch.

"So whatcha thinking about Moony?" Sirius asked moving himself closer to Remus, so close Remus swore he could feel Sirius' body heat radiating off of him.

"Well I was thinking about Ancient Runes, but it seems that wasn't interesting enough for someone." Remus playfully glared at Sirius. Sirius stuck his tongue out and gently shoved Remus.

"Well let's talk about something else then." Sirius said as he tapped his chin with his finger, as if he was in deep thought.

"Like what?" Remus sarcastically said tilting his head to the side. Although, no matter how annoyed he acted, he knew he would never be annoyed by Sirius. Not really.

"Like the dance." Sirius said excitedly. Oh God, that wretched dance. Remus had been doing such a good job at trying to forget about the dance. Obviously, Sirius had not. Remus didn't like to dwell on the fact that Sirius fancied someone, and he definitely didn't like to dwell on the fact that Sirius would have to attend the dance with someone, whether it was the girl he liked or not.

"What about the dance." Remus said, trying not to sound too grim, but Merlin was it hard.

"What's wrong are you not excited?" Sirius questioned, sounding confused.

"Not particularly." Remus admitted, he didn't fancy disappointing Sirius, but he didn't think he could lie if wanted to.

"What, why? Is it because you don't have a date?" Sirius asked.

"No it's not that. I don't know honestly, it's just not my thing." Remus said. He could tell Sirius didn't fully believe him by how he raised his eyebrow, but Remus didn't feel like being interrogated. "So who do you want to go to the dance with?"

Why Remus felt the need to turn the conversation in that direction, he didn't know. Hell, maybe he was just a masochist, but he was lying if he said it hadn't crossed his mind at least once on who this mystery person was.

"Shh Moony. That's a secret for me and only me to know." Sirius snickered as he swiped his finger across Remus' lips in a shushing motion. Remus froze as his breathing stopped for a second. He could've sworn Sirius finger lingered, and as he removed his hand, Remus could taste him on his lips.

"Fine don't tell me." Remus licked his lips again, trying to memorize the flavor. Not having the conscience to feel guilty, because if this was all he was going to get you bet he was going to savor, memorize, and burn this moment into his mind forever.

"Is there anyone you want to ask to the dance?" Sirius asked as he pressed his legs into Remus' side.

"I don't think anyone wants me to ask them." Remus said as he felt warmth spread to his cheeks. He felt a little embarrassed admitted this to Sirius, who's love life was nothing like his own.

"That's not what I asked though." Sirius said. It was very easy to tell Sirius wasn't going to drop it, 'might as well just get it over with' Remus thought.

"Alright." Remus sighed, "Sure there is, but it doesn't really matter." Remus started to feel the slightest bit uncomfortable under Sirius' gaze, if only he could be honest. He knew it would lift a huge weight off his shoulders, but he also knew he couldn't ever, ever, risk it. He cared too much for Sirius and he wasn't going to loose him. If this was all he would get he would cherish it.

"Of course it matters Remus." Sirius said, almost pleaded, wanting Remus to understand, because how could he not see how much of an amazing person he was? "Anyone would be so lucky to get to go with you."

"Sure they would." Remus chuckled. Yeah right, at times it frustrated him how Sirius could just say things like that. Sirius didn't know the half of it.

"I'm serious Moony, you're an amazing person and I mean... it's not like you're ugly or anything." Sirius said, blushing slightly.

"Thank you Pads." Remus breathed out, deciding to just drop the topic. He didn't like arguing about these types of things, and they, more often than not, made him feel worse about himself.

"And you're wrong you know." Sirius muttered after a few moments of silence.

"About what?" Remus asked, wanting to desperately change the topic and talk about literally anything else.

"I know someone who wants you to ask them." Sirius said, or more whispered, so much so that Remus had almost missed it.

Now Remus really was confused. He hadn't noticed anyone trying to flirt with him, and despite what Sirius said, he was very observant over these types of things.

"Well if someone did want me to ask them, they haven't made it very clear." Remus felt like going for a smoke. His head was started to hurt him from this whole conversation, and he didn't feel like thinking about this.

"I think they've made it very clear." Sirius insisted, tilting his face closer into Remus'.

"I really don't think so." Remus said, "I think I would've noticed." Remus chuckled, looking down at Sirius' lips as he licked them. When did Sirius get so close? Remus was starting to feel hot in his jumper, and tried to reach to take it off only to find his arm was stuck in between his side and Sirius' body.

"You aren't a very observant person Moony." Sirius smiled, tucking his black hair behind his ear. Remus rolled his eyes. Sure he wasn't. He knew what flirting looked like from the many, many girls who flirted with Sirius, and he was very certain no one had been trying that with him.

"Don't you want to know who it is?" Sirius asked, his heart speeding up.

"Who, who is it?" Remus turned his neck to fully face Sirius.

"You’ll see." Sirius whispered as he gained all his courage and started to lean in, only stopping when he felt Remus' breath against his face, but he quickly needed more. He closed the gap in between them and kissed him.

Remus gasped as he felt Sirius lips against his own head racing. Maybe he wasn't as observant as he claimed to be.

Remus grabbed the back of Sirius head and tried to pull him closer. Sirius moved to sit on Remus' lap as he kissed him harder.

"I had no idea." Remus breath spread against Sirius' lips, making Sirius laugh. "I know Moony, but I knew." Sirius kissed Remus again, this time biting his lip, wanting to taste more, needing to taste more. It all felt surreal to him. He was kissing Remus. Moony. His Moony.

"So do you want to go to the dance with me?" Sirius asked resting his forehead on Remus'.

"I thought you were waiting for me to ask you?" Remus laughed reaching out to lick Sirius' lips, he never wanted to forget how they felt against his own.

"So ask me Moony." Sirius hummed, loving the feeling of Remus around him, on him.

"Go to the dance with me Sirius?" Remus asked, leaning in to kiss Sirius again, not waiting for an answer.

"Yes." Sirius whispered in between the kiss, which only encouraged Remus to kiss him harder, as Sirius pressed down on him eliciting a moan from both of them. "God Moony you're wonderful." Sirius said as he started leaving kisses down his neck, only stopping when he found the spot that made Remus groan, and Sirius thought that was the hottest thing he'd ever heard.

"Sirius." Remus whispered, running his fingers through Sirius hair.

"Yeah Moony?" Sirius said, barely lifting his lips from Remus' neck.

"Oh shit that feels good." Remus moaned, almost deciding against stopping Sirius, but they were still in the middle of the common room, and it wasn't exactly private.

"Someone's going to walk in on us." Remus eyes fluttered shut as Sirius bit down hard on his neck.

"You wanna stop?" Sirius asked lifting his head to smirk at Remus. God Sirius was going to be the death of him.

"No, fuck God no, but we probably should." Remus said watching Sirius lips turn into a pout.

"Whatever you say Professor." Sirius gave him a chaste kiss on the lips on more time before getting off of Remus lap. "We'll I guess I'll leave you to reading your very interesting book then..."

"No wait-" Remus reached out and grabbed Sirius' arm before he got up to walk away. "Just stay here with me." Remus said, flustered, as he could feel himself break out into a blush, but he couldn't find it in himself to care.

"Always Moony." Sirius smiled and laid his head down as Remus' lap while he read his book, and ran his hand through Sirius hair.

Maybe the dance wouldn't be so bad.
