Busy
Beth flopped onto the sofa with a dramatic sigh, watching as Viv sat at the dining table, completely engrossed in whatever she was reading on her laptop. It had been hours -well, okay, maybe only forty minutes, but still. Too long.
“Vivi.”
Viv hummed distractedly, not looking up from her screen.
Beth frowned. “Viv.”
Another absentminded hum.
Beth huffed, kicking her legs over the armrest. “Vivianne.”
Viv sighed, finally glancing up. “Beth.”
Beth pouted. “I’m bored.”
Viv blinked. “Okay?”
Beth groaned. “Pay attention to me.”
Viv let out a small laugh. “I am paying attention to you.”
Beth raised an eyebrow. “Are you?”
Viv tilted her head slightly. “I am looking at you, no?”
Beth narrowed her eyes. “You weren’t two seconds ago.”
Viv sighed, rubbing a hand over her face. “I’m reading.”
Beth smirked. “Reading what?”
Viv hesitated. “Stuff.”
Beth sat up slightly. “Stuff?”
Viv gave her a look. “Yes. Stuff.”
Beth grinned. “What kind of stuff?”
Viv exhaled through her nose. “Football stuff.”
Beth groaned, flopping back against the sofa. “Boring.”
Viv smirked. “Not to me.”
Beth rolled onto her side, watching her. “Baby.”
Viv glanced up, lips twitching slightly. “Beth.”
Beth pouted again. “Come cuddle me.”
Viv sighed. “Beth-“
Beth whined. “Viv.”
Viv shook her head. “I just need-“
Beth stretched her arms out. “Please.”
Viv closed her eyes for a moment, clearly trying to compose herself, before looking back at the screen. “Give me fifteen minutes.”
Beth groaned. “You said that fifteen minutes ago.”
“No, I didn’t.”
Beth huffed. “Yes, you did.”
Viv gave her an amused look. “Did not.”
Beth flailed an arm in her direction. “Did too.”
Viv chuckled. “Beth.”
“Vivianne.”
Viv exhaled, shaking her head before turning her attention back to her laptop. Beth narrowed her eyes, watching her for a moment before standing and walking over to the table. She rested her chin on top of Viv’s head, wrapping her arms loosely around her shoulders.
Viv sighed. “Liefje.”
Beth pressed a kiss to her hair. “Baby.”
Viv tilted her head back slightly. “You are being needy today.”
“Am I?”
“Yes.”
Beth smiled against her hair. “And?”
Viv sighed. “And I’m busy.”
Beth nuzzled into her. “Too busy for me?”
Viv hesitated.
Beth grinned. “That’s what I thought.”
Viv huffed. “Beth.”
Beth pressed another kiss to her temple. “Vivi.”
Viv groaned, closing her laptop with a soft thud. “You are annoying.”
Beth beamed. “And yet, you love me.”
Viv sighed dramatically. “Unfortunately.”
Beth gasped, feigning offence. “Wow.”
Viv smirked. “Wow.”
Beth poked her side. “Come cuddle me.”
Viv groaned. “Beth-“
Beth grinned. “You love cuddling me.”
Viv sighed. “I do.”
Beth wiggled her eyebrows. “So what’s the problem?”
Viv rubbed her face. “The problem is you.”
Beth smirked. “The problem is that you won’t come and cuddle me.”
Viv exhaled, staring at her for a long moment before finally, finally, standing up.
Beth beamed. “See? That wasn’t so hard, was it?”
Viv rolled her eyes but let Beth drag her over to the sofa, letting out a small oof as Beth practically threw herself onto her the moment they sat down.
Beth sighed contentedly, resting her head against Viv’s chest. “Much better.”
Viv chuckled, wrapping an arm around her waist. “Happy now?”
Beth grinned. “Very.”
Viv kissed the top of her head. “Good.”
Beth sighed dramatically. “Although…”
“No.”
“What? I was just saying-“
Viv shook her head. “Nope.”
Beth laughed, pressing a kiss against Viv’s collarbone. “I love you.”
Viv hummed, squeezing her gently. “Ik hou van jou ook, lieverd.”
