“Can't I ask a question I'm not sure I want the answer to?” My younger sister Spencer asked me. We were in the lounge room studying silently together and this appeared to be asked out of the blue.

“What a way to ask,” I teased, unsure of where this was going.

“Sorry. It's just after Maya passed away we found these videos that she posted to this private online journal. And she was talking about Emily and what it was like to kiss her, I just wondered if it was true.”

“How did Maya describe kissing Emily?” I asked, curious. Maya was always a touchy Subject with Emily so I wasn't at all surprised I'd never heard About this from Emily.

“She believed that Emily has a very old, that she could feel it when they kissed. She could hear clocks All over the world running backwards.”

I smiled before saying “What is it about Emily’s ex and their ways of describing her.”

“What do you mean?” Spencer asked, confused.

“Did you never hear the way Alison once summed Emily up?”

“Maybe. I'm not too sure. There was a lot going on back then.”

“True. Alison once said to Emily's face by the way. That she reckons Emily is the shy in the streets but sexy in the sheets, kind of person.”

“Alison really never held back her punches did she,” Spencer stated more to herself than me.

“She certainly didn't.”

“So do you agree with both statements?”

“When I do kiss Emily, it feels like time has stopped. Like nothing is moving in that moment, it 's just us and time has stopped to allow us this one moment together.”

“When I’ve kissed Toby, I don't feel anything like you describe or even what Maya said.”

“I guess it's the person. Emily is one of those special people That you meet in life.”

“I guess, and what about what Alison said?”

“I know why Alison said what she said. But she's completely wrong. Emily is never shy in the streets. Alison Just didn't know Emily well enough to know that and I am so grateful for that. I am so glad I am the only one who seems to know that about Emily.”

“Is it love for you?”

“Why all the questions?” I asked back, not really sure if I wanted to answer Spencer's question.

“I've watched my friend get hurt time and time again because the person she loves Doesn't love her back as much. I don't want to see my friend get hurt and with you being my sister in the mix. I don't want you to get hurt either.”

“Well if you must know. I think Emily’s my one. I don't think I need to explore or experience anyone else. Emily’s mine.”

“I'm glad to hear it,” Spencer said with a massive smile.

Feeling my phone vibrate in my pocket, I pulled it out with a smile to see it was Emily ringing me.

“Hey, we were just talking about you,” I stated answering the phone.

“All good things i hope.”

“Well with you how could it not be.”

“I see your point,” Emily said, making me giggle.

“Anyway, I was ringing to ask if you wanted to go get ice cream with me.”

“It's not even dinner time yet.”

“So that 's a no then?”

“Oh no, it's an absolute yes,” I said, making Emily laugh this time.

“Cool. I'm out the front when you're ready.”

“How did you know I would say yes?”

“Please like you could resist me and ice cream.” I laughed because that was certainly true. There was absolutely no way of saying no to spending time with Emily and sharing ice cream together.

“I'll be out in a sec.”

“Take all the time in the world.” I smiled while hanging up the phone.

“What's Prince charming up to now?”

“Wants to go get ice cream.”

“Of course she does. Have fun. I'll tell Mum to leave you a plate for when you get back.”

“Thanks sis.” I leant down to peck the top of her head before leaving out the front door to find Emily sitting on the gutter waiting for me.

The End.
