You Drew Stars Around My Scars (a Series of Marauder Short Stories)
Summary
Consider this a collection of short stories about the marauder's time at Hogwarts. The stories will be told from the perspective of different characters. The short stories will mostly focus on Wolfstar, but there will also be a few about other characters and the friendships between the individual marauders and classmates. The stories will not be in timeline order, but they will all be interconnected. This is basically a place for me to dump all my marauder headcanons in unnecessary detail. Enjoy!!

The Ring Pt. 4

Sirius-

Shit.

Shit.

Shit.

Merlin, he was stupid! How could he have forgotten he’d given Remus the ring? How could he have given Remus the ring and then kissed Mary? No wonder Remus stood there like he’d cursed him and his whole family. He practically did, that’s if being an asshole is a curse. He first checked the library for any sign of Remus, and quickly left when he didn’t see any. Sirius has been wandering the corridors for a while now looking for any sign of Remus’s location. Remus had always had a knack for finding really good places to hide from people. Sirius was about to head back to the dorm room, hoping the boy had decided to head back when he heard a crash come from a nearby broom closet and a stifled swear in a Welsh accent. Sirius knew before opening the door it was Remus. Not many kids at Hogwarts had Welsh accents and Remus’s always became more evident when he was upset. Sirius opened up the broom closet door and saw Remus sitting on the floor with his knees up to his chest trying to get a broom to stand back up against a wall.

“Hi,” Sirius said, looking down at Remus. His eyes were red and puffy. He definitely had been crying. His hair was a little more disheveled than usual. Just looking at him made Sirius' heart skip a beat. How did he not realize it sooner?

“Hello,” Remus said, his voice seeping with disdain, yet his face only read as sadness.

“Can I join you?” Sirius asked, moving to close the door behind him.

“You’re going to even if I say no,” Remus said, avoiding Sirius’s eyes.

“Yeah, You’re right,” Sirius said, with a smile as he sat down across from Remus, copying his position. “So, I talked to James. It turns out the answer to my question is that I gave you the ring. Why didn’t you just tell me that when I asked?” Sirius said, making sure to emphasize the concern in his voice.

“I- I don’t know. There were just so many thoughts running through my head and the only one I could hear was run. So, I did,” Remus said looking Sirius in the eyes for the first time that night. Sirius saw Remus’s eyes start to water again and he felt a part of his heart break. He only saw Remus cry two other times. Once in first year and their fight after “the prank”. All three times he saw Remus cry it had been his fault. But, he didn’t have time to dwell on that. He still needed to get answers out of Remus. He needed to be sure this was a two-way street before he drove down it at full speed.

“I only have one other question, why did you hide the ring from me?”

“What?” Remus asked, looking purely confused.

“Come on, Remus. James said he saw you wearing the ring, I’d like to think that I would notice if you of all people were wearing a silver ring. Why didn’t you want me to see it?”

“It’s stupid,” Remus responded, looking back down at the floor.

“I assure you it’s not.”

“Fine, I didn’t want you to realize you gave it to me. It’s not that I knew you didn’t remember, I just had a suspicion you didn’t. I figured that if you realized that I had it you would have to very awkwardly ask for it back. I planned on leaving it on your nightstand, but, I guess, I got attached to it. As I said, it's stupid. So, you can go give it to Mary or some other girl, and we can pretend this never happened. Okay?”

Remus was being held together with a smile. He was one wrong breath away from just breaking down in tears. Merlin, so was Sirius.

“Remus, didn’t you question how you were able to wear the ring without it burning you?”

“Not really. I just assumed it was fake silver.”

“Really, Remus? It’s my ring, of course, it’s real silver. I charmed it, so it wouldn’t burn you. It took a few tries, but I eventually figured it out.” Sirius said, smiling at Remus.

“What? But, you said the ring is for someone important, like someone you love.”

“Remus the ring is yours. It was made for you. I made it for you,” Sirius said as he watched Remus’s face fill with more confusion with every word.

“Merlin, Remus, I don’t know how to make it more obvious than this,” Sirius said, cupping Remus’s face in his hands and pulling him in for a kiss.
