Chapter Five
The room smelled sterile and bright lights were shining down. Remus blinked frantically, trying to clear the blurriness from his eyes. The last thing he remembered was pain. Pain and a scent. The scent of an intruder. An enemy. Remus was familiar enough with the infirmary that he was pretty sure that was his location but his memory was cloudy. Judging by the extra sore state of his body, Remus gathered that something had happened. He just didn’t know what. His heart raced. Was it bad? Was someone hurt? Where were his friends?
“Remus, you’re awake.” Remus’ frantic thought process was interrupted by James’ quivering voice was much unlike James’ typical calm, laid back tone. Peter and Sirius stood behind him also looking solemn.
“James, what happened?” Remus hoped that his friends would explain that the moon this month had just been especially difficult and everything was okay, nothing happened. But, Remus knew something was off….
“Remus…. I don’t know how to tell you this. Snape found out, he showed up and you, well the wolf, attacked him.” James said quietly.
“How. How did he find out.”
“Remus–”
“James please. Just tell me.” Remus pleaded with his friend.
“Remus, I’m so sorry, it slipped out one day, I didn’t think he would follow you, or get hurt! Please Remus I’m so sorry–”
