Breakfast & New Hairstyle
Hadrian woke to soft sheets and a comfortable bed. Yawning, he snuggled into the warm bed before gasping and climbing out, racing towards the mirror in the bathroom.
He sighed when he saw his reflection. He had been terrified it was a dream, but it wasn't. He was free, he had a family, and the future was at his fingertips.
Looking in the mirror again, he frowns at his hair. His red locks were tangled and fuzzy. He didn't have a brush and didn't know any spells to do it for him. Grabbing a section he ran his fingers through the red strands trying to brush them as best as he can with just his hands. After a few minutes it looked better but not by much.
Sighing, he went to the toilet and did his morning routine, then left the bathroom. Once back in the main room, he put on the outfit from yesterday and looked for something to tie his hair back. After searching the whole room for something, he finally gave up and went to his bag. He pulled out an old shirt that used to belong to Dudley. He took great satisfaction in tearing the fabric until he had a medium-length strip of cloth. He grimaced as he tied his hair back with the cloth. He had hoped to never have to use those rags again, he promised himself today would be the last time he did.
Once he was ready, making sure he had his Gringotts card, he left. He was hungry but didn't want to draw attention to staying at the leaky.
Hadrian debated going to the bank to see if he could eat with his new family but doubt and fear kept him walking until he found a cute little café. Going inside he was surprised at how lovely it was. The place was made up of greens, browns and golds. The was a cash register on his right, doors on his left and table and chairs everywhere in between.
Taking a deep breath, he walked up to the closet table that just so happened to be close to the door and sat in the comfy chair with his back to the wall. He was barely sitting when a waitress bounced towards him.
"Hello! I'm Sally! Welcome to The Melting Pot! Would you like anything to drink while you look over the menu?" the waitress, Sally, asked. Hadrian blinked in surprise at the cheery mood but smiled when he was handed the menu.
"I think I will just look over the menu first" Hadrian responded. Sally nodded three times and then bounced away. Hadrian smiled as he looked over the menu. It was a breakfast menu and had so many options, he was slightly overwhelmed. After about five minutes had passed, Sally came skipped back over, quill and pad at the ready.
"So, figure out what you want?" Sally asked, her voice still cheerful. Hadrian couldn't help but smile back at the bubbly woman.
"Can I have pancakes with a side of rashers and a pot of tea?" Hadrian asked as he quickly scanned the menu again. He found a love for rashers when he was in Hogwarts, the Dursleys never let him try them.
"Would you like any syrup with those pancakes?" Sally asks with a large smile. Syrup sounded nice, he wondered what they had.
"What kind of syrups do you have?" Hadrian asked.
"We have Vanilla, Chocolate, Orange, Regular, Golden, Pine, Rose, and the special of the day, which changes every week. This week is Pineapple!" Sally answered with a beaming smile and a single bounce.
Harry didn't know how to feel about pineapple, he never had it... but he would like to try all of them... but not right now. Going with the safe option he picked chocolate.
"I would like chocolate, please" Hadrian added to his order.
"Right away!" Sally said as she wrote his order on the pad she had. Hadrian watched amazed as she tore the parchment off at folded it into a bird before flying towards a window to the kitchen. It settles on the window sill and waits patiently to be picked up. When he looks back, Sally and the menu are gone.
He didn't have to wait long for his food, it was ready in less than ten minutes. Hadrian watched as Sally danced over with a tray of his food. He was worried she would drop it but soon realised she was steady as she twirled and spun.
"Here you go! One stack of pancakes with a side of rashers, a pot of tea and a bowl of chocolate syrup!" Sally said as she placed his food down in front of him. There were only three pancakes but the were huge. Easily three times the size of the ones in Hogwarts. The pot of tea was average, Hadrian thinks they're about two and a half cups in it. There is four rashers and the bowl of chocolate syrup is large but not too big.
Overall, Hadrian is happy with his breakfast, and that doesn't change as he takes his first bite. He hums at the taste of the pancakes, they taste like he's eating a cloud. They are so soft and fluffy, buttery and sweet. He dipped a piece of pancake into the syrup and almost moaned at the taste. It was lovely, honestly the best breakfast he ever had. The bacon was crispy without being hard, it had just the right amount of saltiness. He was surprised he ate it all, his plate cleared of every crumb.
Getting up he went to pay, leaving a tip and smile at the young man who was at the counter. When he left he wasn't sure where to go. One one hand he needed somewhere to store his shopping supplies, on the other... his hair really needed to be fixed. After some internal debate he looked around for a hairdressers, there wasn't any in the main alley so he ventured into one of the side alleys. After half an hour he found one.
Entering the hairdressers he was surprised at how modern it looked. The saloon had light wooden floors and creamy blue paint. There were brown leather chairs in front of large mirrors on either side of the room. The back had a cash register and doors behind it. It had plants in little nooks and cranny's making it seem more alive. It smelled of hair products, which was to be expected.
"Hello Sir. Welcome to Divine Curls! How can we help?" asked the receptionist as Hadrian walked closer to the desk.
"Hello... I need some help with my hair... I just got a creature inheritance and am new to the hair" Hadrian explained, hesitating with telling her about his creature inheritance but it was kinda obvious.
"That's no problem, Sir. Just let me check if there is any available slots" the receptionist, Jane, as her nametag said as she started going through a book that Hadrian presumed is for appointments.
"Oh, you're in luck Sir, their is a stylist available for the next few hours. Would you like to see them now or book an appointment for later in the morning?" Jane ask quill at the ready.
"Now would be perfect" Hadrian responded.
"Sorry, what is your name?" Jane asked quill at the ready.
"Hadrian Potter" Hadrian answered, Jane froze for a second before she started writing in the appointment book. Hadrian let out a sigh of relief, so far nobody has gone starstruck or thanked him.
"Follow me please, we shall meet with your stylist" Jane says as she walks around the desk. Hadrian follows her as she walks up to an older woman who looks to be in her forties, but it's hard to tell with wixen's.
"Maranda, this is our newest client, Hadrian. Hadrian, this is Maranda Saltwiggen" Jane introduced. Ms Saltwiggen nodded before turning to Hadrian.
"Have you been to this salon before?" Ms Saltwiggen asked. Hadrian shook his head.
"We will then go to a private room where you can fill out some forms" Ms Saltwiggen stated before turning and heading towards a door at the back of the salon, Hadrian was surprised at the strict tone but followed when Jane nudged him. Once Ms Saltwiggen got to the door she opened the it and held it open until Hadrian went inside.
The room was simple with a just a table and some chairs, it was painted the same as the main salon and had plants around the room. Ms Saltwiggen walked to a filing cabinet and pulled out some papers.
"Forgive me for being so abrupt. My name is Maranda Saltwiggen, you may call me Maranda" Ms-Maranda says as she walks over putting the form down on the table before sitting. Hadrian followed her example and sat down. Maranda looked at Hadrian , her stare hard but not unpleasant. She raised an eyebrow before speaking.
"Before we start, perhaps a name could be provided? Hmm?" Maranda asks, almost sounding amused. Hadrian blushed in embarrassment.
"Hadrian Potter" Hadrian stated, grateful that he didn't mumble it like he thought he would. Maranda didn't react, just stared at Hadrian for a moment before giving a sharp nod.
"Now, I have forms that need to be filled. Once they are complete I will quickly read over it and we will talk about some of the information you provide. I will have a sheet of parchment to make notes and then we will go back to the salon, do you have any questions before we begin?" Maranda asked her tone was still strict but softer.
Hadrian shook his head, grateful she didn't react to his name or who he was. Happy with his answer, Maranda slid the forms towards him. Hadrian didn't know what to expect from forms from a salon, magical or not, but he was surprised by the questions. It was detailed and a little personal, but he could see why the questions were asked.

Hadrian filled out as much as he could leaving a lot of information blank. Once he was done he sent the fil back over to Maranda and watched as she quickly read over it. Her lips pursed at some of he answers, or maybe lack of?
"Mr. Potter, do you not have an address? I can understand most of the questions not being answered as this is your first time at a salon, but surely you have a home?" Maranda asked with a frown. Hadrian winced at the look of disapproval but quickly tried to explain.
"I just became a legal adult yesterday, I have been staying in the Leaky until I find a proper house to stay in" Hadrian explained. Maranda was still frowning but nodded.
"I know you may not want to give out your address, but this is a magical contract. If you fill out the legal part, I can't repeat anything in the form that is not public knowledge" Maranda stated. Hadrian's eyes widened in surprise. Merlin, he didn't even think of that.
Of course, he wouldn't want his address public knowledge! Not only would every death eater know where he lived so would Voldemort! Not to mention he would be bombarded by fans, if he survived giving his address out.
He was brought out of those disturbing thoughts when the contract glowed. Looking at the contract, he watched as Maranda filed it away with other documents.
"Now, lets get to the fun part" Maranda says as she heads to the door. Hadrian hesitates before standing and following her back to the main room in the salon. He was a little weary of what the next step is.
The salon was busier then it was when he went into the private room but was still plenty of vacant seats available. Maranda walked to one of the vacant seats at the back of the salon and gestured to Hadrian to sit.
Hadrian sat down, his eyes widening at how comfortable the chair was. The leather was smooth, warm and comfy. It had to be enchanted. Hadrian almost melted into the cosy leather chair. I have to get one of these, Hadrian thought with a sigh.
"Okay, so are we keeping the colour and length?" Maranda asked as she pulled out her wand.
"Yes, I want to keep the it just like this but maybe style it? Also could you recommend somewhere to get Hair beads enchanted? And many some books on spells for hair?" Hadrian asked running his fingers through his hair.
"There is a shop two alleys over called Kevin's Enchants that I would always recommend. The store is only a few years old but does high-quality enchantments... We actually sell books on hair charms" Maranda says.
"That's great I will defiantly buy some of them" Hadrian says happy that he will be able to style his hair on his own soon.
"We'll start with a wash and then work on styles" Maranda stated as she picked up jars with some sort of creamy substance.
"These are hair potions. I will open one and you will smell it, if you like the scent we will proceed with the washing. Unlike normal hair washing, we coat the hair in a hair potion and let it dry. The hair heals and becomes the healthiest version of your hair it can become" Maranda explained as she opened the first jar. She handed it to him and he took a weary sniff, surprised when it was actually appealing but he didn't really like it.
Maranda took the jar back and gave him the next one, this went on for a few jars before he decided on a scent that made him relax even further into the chair. It was lovely mix of earthy tones and wood with a slight hint of orange.
"This one, please!" Hadrian said, taking another sniff of the lovely potion. Maranda smiled before gently taking it back. Using her wand, she applied the potion.
"That will only take a few minutes to set. I will be back when it does" Maranda says waving her wand and muttering something under her breath, leaving as all the products head back where Maranda pulled them from.
Hadrian waited as his hair dried the smell calming and pleasant. True to her word when his hair was dry she was back. Hadrian felt his hair, softer than before, and smiled as his silky hair almost bounced as he shook his hair. The red strands were also brighter, not by much, but enough that he noticed it. It looked more alive, like fire.
The next hour was spent trying style after style. it was much faster with magic but still took quite a while. Eventually, Maranda tried a style Hadrian fell in love with. It was a side Viking braid with half his hair let down naturally. The red strands have an almost wavy curl to it, while the other side is a mix of different braids. Hadrian couldn't wait to add his hair beads to the mix.
"I love it!" Hadrian exclaimed when Maranda asked how he felt about it.
"That's great. I can give you the incantation to recreate this look with a few charms on braiding so you can change it up" Maranda says as she pulls out some parchment.
"This is an update to the form you filled out earlier, just rate the hair products, your experience with me as a stylist and how happy you are with the outcome. Don't worry I won't take offense if you choose someone else when you come back" Maranda stated as she handed Hadrian the parchment and a quill.
Hadrian filled out the form to the best of his ability before handing it back to Maranda. Maranda smiled before swishing her wand at the parchment, which flew to the nearest filing cabinet and slid into it. Hadrian blinked in surprise at the parchment before shaking his head in wonder. He doesn't think he will ever get over magic.
