Mary was going through her old stuff when she finds a photo album from when she was in school, only knowing from the piece of decaying tape that had “year of ‘78” written on it. As she examined the dusty album she couldn’t help but feel a little sad, it’s been almost 10 years since she graduated, but she was also intrigued to see what was held in the clearly full photo album.
As Mary turned to the first photo, she had the urge to cry. The first photo being a picture of a group of 3 girls, huddled close together, all seeming to be laughing with each other, she felt sad at the sight of it.
Mary flipped through the pictures, her heart aching a little more each time as she looks at the pictures. She couldn’t help but get sad as she looks at each person in the pictures.
The pictures consisted of smiles and groups laughing with each other, but Mary couldn’t smile even if she tried, sadness was taking over her mind and she almost shed tears, but she found herself unable to stop looking at the photos that had stupid grins, big smiles, big groups of beautiful people with stupid grins and big smiles, and lots of love in everyone’s eyes in every picture.
Mary kept on flipping through the pages, observing every bit of them, despite feeling blue and mournful for each time she flipped to the next photos.
When Mary got to the last picture, she focused on it longer than the other ones. The picture was everyone that was in the album all in one big group together, everyone wearing graduation gowns, with stupid grins and big smiles, everyone’s arms wrapped around the person next to them. They all look so different from each other, but anyone could tell that they were all family, even if not related.
Mary set the photo album down, and sat on the floor, her mind going through her memories throughout the years, and the fact that she didn’t know what to do or how to feel.
Mary was sitting on the floor in her attic, with tears streaming down her face and looking at the photo album in front of her, unable to speak, unable to move anywhere.
Mary sat on that floor for hours, trying to figure out why she was crying over pictures of people she didn’t recognize.
