Hogsmeade

It was the first Hogsmeade trip of the school year, a brisk day mid September that had students up early out of beds on a Saturday morning.

The first and second years were undoubtedly still sleeping but the rest of us were up and eating in the hall.

Saturdays had no classes, which meant casual dress, and After everyone finished eating, we met with our head of house in the courtyard. Snape looked less thrilled than usual probably due to the amount of teenagers who surrounded him talking.

After the whole, “Hogsmeade is a privilege” speech, which seemed to last longer for us than the other houses due to Snapes slow drawl, we began to break off into our own groups and make our way to the village.

Terrance and I split off from the group, this being some of our first alone time in a while. Since Terrance was a grade above me, our schedules constantly conflicted. The only time we saw each other was meals, and free periods, but this year we had none of those that overlapped either.

He grabbed my hand squeezing gently as we walked, “Where to, my dear?” He asked guiding us in the direction of Hogsmeade.

“Honey dukes?” I asked batting my eyelashes at him for dramatics.

He shakes his head laughing and we walk the rest of the way in a comfortable silence. Eventually Hogsmeade came into view and and we made our way to the beloved candy shop.

Honeydukes smelled of pure sugar. Chocolate and other candies lines the shelves with colorful packaging. Giant lollipops and pumpkin pasties filled the brim. I made a beeline for the later, as Terrance made a grab for a bag knowing I’d need it.

I spent a good 30 minutes picking out the perfect accumulation of sweets to last me until the next Hogsmeade trip. What can I say I’m passionate about food.

After we paid we made our way to The Three Broomsticks, Terrance carrying my bag in one hand, the other interlocked with mine.

When we entered the pub, our friends were tucked away in a corner booth, waiting for us. I headed to sit while Terrance ordered our drinks.

“Hey guys” I said dropping into the booth.

“Thank merlin someone with common sense is here” Miles said rolling his eyes at the other teammates, “Would you please tell these wankers that an all week rager would be absolutely catastrophic to their livers” He said.

If I had had a drink in my mouth, I would have spit it out I laughed so hard because, I couldn’t have expected any less from these idiots.

“He’s right, it would also conflict with our training. And Don’t think for a second that I’m letting any of you off easy this year.”

The boys groaned collectively, at the mention of quidditch training, and Terrance finally made his way back to the group with our drinks.

“Thank you” I said smiling as he placed my butter beer in front of me, and took his seat.

“Quidditch doesn’t even start until November” Warrington complained.

“Yea and it’s almost October, I need to get you boys in shape or it’s gonna cost us the quidditch cup.” I said assertively.

I was known for being a bit competitive and motivated when it came to quidditch, which might be why I was picked for captain. It may seem excessive but I know my teams potential.

“Do you want to whoop Gryffindors ass or not?” I asked when they still seemed unsure. That seemed to do the trick cuz they all nodded in hesitant agreement.

“Then suck it up boys. This year I’m doing things a bit differently.” I said in a no bs tone.

The boys gave up with complaining and switched the subject to our annual, Halloween party in a little over a month.

The Slytherins were know for throwing amazing themed ragers for Halloween each year and this year would be no different.

Around late September all the 7th years got together to pick the theme and would announce it on October 1st, giving all 4th years and above (Yes we even let the Gryffindors in) time to plan for the event.

It is quite naturally the event of the season. Last years theme was toga party, and although not super original people got really creative with their magical togas.

“What do you guys think this years theme is gonna be?” Pucey asked

“I have no clue, but it better be good, the togas were ok but it could’ve been better” I shrug

Hours went by, and a thousand conversation switches later we had all returned to Hogwarts. After returning to the school I made my way to my dorm to tackle the pile of homework the professors had assigned for the weekend.

Hours of parchment and cramped hands later I made my way to the dining hall to eat before, heading straight back to my room, with only one thing on my mind, sleep.

I quickly got ready for bed before dozing off content with my productivity of the day.
