Chapter 3
By the time potions had rolled around, I was positively dreading the class. Potions was a fun subject, but between the constant chaos of the Weasley twins and the snide remarks by Snape about me “not possibly belonging to his house” considering my lack of potion skill, the class could be absolute rubbish some days.
I arrived at potions relatively early, snagging a seat in the back of the class, before throwing my tote next to me and taking out my favorite book, “Little Women.”
I had a soft spot for muggle things. Specifically their literature and music, there was just so much detail and beauty in their words. It was more relatable than most wizarding world art.
As the classroom filled in Adrian made his way to my side moving my tote from the seat as he sat.
I tucked my book mark into the page, shutting it and putting it away before taking out my potions book.
“Hey Adrian,” I smiled surveying the room. Miles and Cassius sat in front of us while Graham was on the other side of the room flirting with one of my roommates who I couldn’t seem to remember the name of.
“Hey” He responded.
I could tell something was off. He wasn’t looking at me, and he sounded upset.
“You good?” I asked, concerned.
“I thought you said she liked me.” He said looking hurt. I was confused for a moment before remembering this morning, “I never said that, I said I thought your crush on her was cute.” I respond referencing yesterday on the train.
“Ok but you’re over here telling her to ask out that Diggory bloke when you know I like her, real good friend you are Nott.” He said snidely
“Get your head out of your arse Pucey, just because you like her doesn’t mean she has to return your feelings. And it most definitely does not justify you being an arse to me for supporting my other friends” I said angrily turning away from him.
He tried to say something but luckily Snape walked in and everyone fell quiet.
Snape gave his usual “no nonsense speech, before telling us today would be an independent day. He wanted us to brew a potion of our choice for review. I grabbed the ingredients for a calming draught and started heading to my table.
As I passed by a table on my way back, I heard a voice mumble “Get your head out of your arse Pucey, I thought all slytherins were foul but I must say I like her attitude Georgie” I turned to the red headed twins with a glare, “I don’t appreciate you listening in on my private conversations with my friends”
“Not my fault you talk loud Nott” one of the twins said back, presumably Fred.
“Doesn’t matter if I talk loud or not, you make a comment about me again and I’ll hex you into next week” I say storming off still in a slightly sour mood.
“Bloody hell, it was a compliment” he said, voice fading as I walked away. When I got to my seat Adrian tried to talk again but I simply turned away and set to work on my potion.
An hour passed and class was finally coming to an end. Before class was dismissed Snape walked around observing everyone’s potion.
I waited as he floated around the room complimenting very few and pointing out every minor flaw in their work. When he arrived at my station he looked at Adrian’s potion first. Whatever he had brewed had sufficed a curt nod and nothing else.
Next was mine. As he loomed over me looking at my potion I shook my leg, anxiously awaiting his approval.
“If only you applied yourself to the current curriculum the way you did reviews, you might actually show potential, Miss Nott” he articulated before walking away, “Class dismissed.”
I quickly threw my potion book back into my tote before hurrying out of the class. Although over the last hour and a half I had sufficiently calmed down, I wanted to avoid any more aggregating conversations.

“Piss her royal highness off already eh Pucey?” Miles asked shovling a bite of roast into his mouth.
“Yep” I confirmed taking another bite of dinner.
“Up your arse Nott” Adrian mumbled
“Oh don’t pretend like this is my fault when your the entitled git”
“Woah calm down my dear” Terrance said taking a seat in between me and Adrian before kissing me on the cheek.
I smiled lightly, “Hey T” I said leaning against him.
“Tired?” He asked chuckling
“Mhh long day” I mumble closing my eyes.
Terrance pull me closer to him rubbing my arm comfortingly as he ate with his other hand.
Dinner ended too soon and my time with Terrance was cut short due to my last class of the day. The fifth year slytherins had astronomy after dinner, which although a normally enjoyable class, I found myself too tired to be excited.
Astronomy passed by in a blur and by the time 8 rolled around I was already washed up and in bed sleeping through the night.

The next 3 days passed by in a blur, and before I knew it, it was Monday. Sept 1st had fallen on a Wednesday this year so I was fortunate to have only two days of classes and then the weekend to enjoy.
I was ridiculously excited for today because it was my first day of Defense Against the Dark Arts this term which was one of my all time favorite classes. I prayed that our new professor, Professor Lupin would be an improvement to Lockhart and Quirrell.
I had defense with the Gryffindors but even that couldn’t sour my mood for the day.
It was breakfast time right now and me and Diana were talking about how dreadful Snape was.
“No but actually I think he’s like a sadist or something” Diana whispered giggling into her tea.
“I’d believe it, he probably gets off to our suffering.”
“ANDY!” D exclaimed slapping my arm “What?!?” I giggled back “I’m just saying” I shrug
“That’s foul” D says trying to hide her smirk in her tea.
“No but seriously, he told me the other day if I applied myself more I’d have potential” I paused taking a bite, “Do you know how long I’ve spent applying myself to potions work”
“You know he’s just being a bitch, you’re potion skills are fine”
“Yea but fine isnt good enough when it comes to Snape” I sighed, “It’s whatever really, nothing I can do about it”
Just then the bell rang signally the end of breakfast.
“Where are you off to in such a hurry” D asked when I started moving in a rush to get up.
“I have divination in 10, and those stairs are a killer. Free period?” I asked quickly throwing my bag over my arm and grabbing a muffin to go.
“Yep, I’ll see you in Charms next period”
“See ya!” I waved rushing off in the direction of the divination classroom.
