Chapter 6

I ran to get to class in time, as I was put behind at breakfast dealing with Draco. I had to run back to our dorm to get my bag and books. I hurried to Transfiguration and was surprised to see McGonagall was still teaching.

“Thank you for joining us Miss Granger, if you will please take your seat so that I may continue with the lesson,” she scolded me.

“Yes Ma’am, sorry Ma’am,” I apologized as I searched for a seat. Unsurprisingly the only open spot was next to a certain boy with pale hair. I sighed and headed over to the seat next to Draco.

“Couldn’t stay away from me could ya Granger,” he leaned over and whispered in my ear.

“Shut it you prat, there were no other seats,” I said as I swatted him away. I turned my attention to McGonagall and tried to ignore him through the rest of class.

Thankfully class passed by quickly and at the end I shoved my books in my bag and ran over to Ginny, making sure to get away from Draco as soon as possible.

“I have a lot of questions for you,” Ginny gave me a wicked grin.

“Not now Gin, how bout you come to my room tonight and we can talk before lights out,” I suggested as we exit the classroom.

“Sounds good to me,” she agreed. “I’ll see you then ‘Mione.”

I hurried through the rest of my day, growing impatient in classes I usually enjoyed such as ancient runes and History of Magic. Finally the time for dinner came, but I decided to withdraw to my room to rest before Ginny came to see me.

Entering the room I smelled tea and heard the clank of the kettle being put down on the stove. I sighed, knowing that Draco was going to be the one I ran into. Indeed he was standing by the table about to sit down when the door clicked shut behind me. He whirled around startled and had his wand half out of his pocket.

“Woah it's just me Malfoy,” I calmly stated as he saw me. He embarrassedly stuffed his wand back in his pocket.

“Sorry,” he murmured. “Old fears die hard.”

I paused, intrigued by his choice of words. He looks over at me and sighed.

“Would you like a spot of tea,” he inquired while running a hand over his face. He pinched the bridge of his nose as he waited for my response. I was still intrigued as to his word choice and my curiosity peaked even more at his casual offer.

“You know what, I would,” I state as I make my way towards him, dropping my bag on the coach on my way. Surprised even though he was the one who offered, he glanced down at me, but reached into the cupboard for a green mug.

“Oh no Malfoy, I won't be drinking from one of your mugs,” I sniped at him and promptly squeezed in beside him and grabbed my sparkly gold mug which happened to be pushed towards the back of the cabinet.

He shook his head at me and stepped away. “Make you own tea then.”

“Fine,” I said as I reached for the kettle. After filling my cup, I sat across from Draco and we both awkwardly dipped our tea bags waiting for them to steep in the hot water.
