The potter house was decorated beautifully, red and gold streamers were hung around the living room (courtesy of james, who still had the most house pride even 6 years after leaving hogwarts, and almost 8 years of dating a slytherin) cutouts of fraggle rock characters were floating around and harry was on the couch with a big birthday hat on. The McMeadows walked in while lily and mary were still setting up. The boys had retreated to the sun room to escape Lily’s before-parties wrath. They were the ones cutting out the characters and charming them to float around. Harry jumped up and ran over to hug hermione as soon as she came through the door. The adults started calling them the twins since they were so inseparable and did everything the other one did. Even though Hermione wasn't the birthday girl, Harry insisted on making her a birthday hat, just like his. The decorating and cleaning continued until mary calmed lily down (with the help of a splash of fire whisky). Within the hour guests started arriving. The longbottoms came in with their son neville who was very shy and stayed by his parents the whole party. They were followed by andromeda, ted and a moody tonks with dark purple hair. Pandora and luna came in fashionably late, they both went right over to harry and gave him big hugs, which he didn't like since he was in the middle of a game of exploding snaps jr.. remus and sirius strutted in the door, apologizing for being late and giving everyone little kisses on the cheek. Then the entire Weasley clan came through the door about 30 minutes late. Arthur and molly came in after their 7 children. As soon as the weasleys arrived the party really started.
Tonks, Charlie and Bill all sat at the table looking miserable. None of them wanted to be a child's birthday party(even if they were only 11 and 13) they all believed they could be doing much better things. Fred and George terrorized percy with a snake they had found in the garden and now were keeping as a secret pet. Ron walked over to play with hermione, harry and luna, ginny trailed behind him with a thumb in her mouth. The first activity the kids did was who could stay on padfoot's back the longest. None of the children beat bill's record of 3 ½ minutes. When Sirius transformed back he declared that was the last time they would play that game(but he said that every time so no one really cared).
The little ones all cheered at the sight of Harry's cake, a ginormous cake the size of harry! Sirius had been tasked with getting the cake, he had a giant toothy grin plastered on his face, and was looking at lily with an evil glint in his eye. The whole party sang happy birthday 3 times, because harry insisted after hermione said to do so. Harry opened his presents incredibly fast. In his pile was the new broomstick jr.advanced, a muppet album and a muggle tricycle(given by arthur weasley).
All of the kids were running around, on the craziest sugar high anyone had ever seen! The party was supposed to be over but no one could round up the children, who were in an intense game of something the weasley twins had made up. After an hour and half of crazy sugar highs, the kids started to crash one by one. Ginny was the first to start crying, she was swiftly picked up by Molly Weasley, but not soon enough that the other babies didn't also start having meltdowns. In 5 minutes every parent was trying to calm down their fussy little kids. Andromeda had left a while ago because tonks was not dealing with babies crying and became overstimulated. The older weasleys left with arthur, and molly was left to deal with 4 crying babies on her own, luckily sirius was so guilt ridden for feeding the sugary cake to all the kids he took the twins and let them burn off energy by chasing him as padfoot. Hermione didn't cry unless she wanted something from marlene, her meltdowns were different, she refused to act like a baby she instead acted like she ruled the place, but she was never helpful, she always made harry's meltdowns worse. Harry's meltdowns were the worst, he flung himself to the ground and sobbed, but if someone tried to pick him up he would start thrashing his arms and legs.
When all the babies were taken care of and put to sleep(Harry and Hermione both asleep in Harry's race car bed) and the weasleys and all the other party goers left, Sirius dropped onto the couch and let out a long sigh.
“You know that ending was your fault” Lily said as she waved her wand cleaning up the house.
“Yes yes i know, next year i'll get a sugar free cake.” Sirius answered, his eyes closed as if he was about to fall asleep.
“I think we can all agree you are off cake duty forever!” James said, cleaning his glasses on his shirt.
“Oh no what will I ever do” sirius said sarcastically. “I suppose we are staying here tonight, right moony?”
“Huh, oh yea if that's ok with you, prongs?” Remus answered looking up from the muppet record he was inspecting.
“Oh don't ask me, that's Lily's call. Lils can they stay please please.” james said fake pleading with the mother of his child.
“Yes jamie your little friends can stay” lily answered rolling her eyes and looking over at mary who was doing the same.
“Well if the boys are staying I want to stay! Dorcas can we please stay! Please please please!” marlene said from her spot on the floor.
Dorcas, Lily and Mary shared a look. “oh i suppose so, hermione is already fast asleep”
Sirius threw a pillow in Marlene's way “sleepover!” he said a tad too loud.
“Padfoot shut your mouth before the kids wake up!” Regulus said, he threw the pillow back a sirius aiming for his head.
