Nightmare Summer Camp
Summary
A camping trip seems like a great idea to merge two groups of friends.Or it would, if it weren’t pitched by someone who plans to use said trip to kill them all.

Best Summer Ever

“Did you find him?” Barty says, jogging down the hill to meet Evan as he doubles back towards the camp.

Evan looks at him, throwing his hands out in frustration. “What are you doing here? I told you to go back to the camp!”

Barty shrugs, “I– uh–” Barty hesitates, slowing to a stop in front of Evan. He raises a hand and rubs the back of his neck.

“Well?” Evan asks.

“What do you want me to say Evan, I messed up and I feel bad.” Barty admits.

“No shit, sherlock.” Evan scoffs, crossing his arms. “Fuckers fast, too. He must have been piiiissed.”

Barty sighs, frowning. “I’m such a fuck up.”

“Yep.” Evan agrees. He barely even likes Barty, and Reg isn’t here so he doesn’t have to be nice. He turns on his heel and begins walking back to the camp.

“You’re a fuckin’ wanker.” Barty says, dragging his feet but following him anyway.

“Says you,” Evan retorts, and Barty groans.

“Are you gonna tell Regulus?”

Evan snorts. “I think if you want Sirius to forgive you, and Regulus not to hate you, you’re gonna have to come clean about it, and soon.”

Barty huffs, but doesn’t respond. Evan can hear him trailing a few steps behind… Until he can’t anymore.

“The fuck are you doing, idiot?” Evan says, turning back to look at Barty, whose eyes are wide, standing pin straight behind him. There’s fear on his features, and Evan isn’t sure why. He peers into the dark, he can’t see what has scared him so much. “Are you going to answer me?” Evan demands, and Barty looks at him, lip quivering, terrified.

“I’ve tripped a landmine.” Barty says, voice full of fear.

“What?!” Evan says, backing up.

“I’ve tripped-”

“I fucking heard you– I mean what, how, here?”

Barty shakes his head, tears streaming down his face. “I don’t know. What do I do?”

Evan looks back at him, mouth agape, and shakes his head, still backing away. “I don’t know.”

“Fuck Evan, help me,” Barty cries.

Evan shakes his head, continuing to step backwards.

“Evan, please!” Barty cries, he’s screaming, begging for his life to no avail. He accidentally shifts his weight reaching out to him, and Evan turns and runs.

The bomb behind him is loud, and the force of it throws dirt and debris in all directions, the vibrations from the explosion tripping him up for a moment. Evan doesn’t turn back though, he just runs, terror pushing him forward, legs pushing him fast as he can go.

Which is why he doesn’t see the bear trap barely hidden by leaf litter when he lands heavily in the middle of it, setting it to close hard and fast around his ankle. He falls to the ground in a heavy heap, screaming out in pain. It takes him a moment to register that there’s someone dancing around him, cackling gleefully.

“This is, hands down, the Best. Summer. Ever!” they say, clapping excitedly.

Right before he passes out from the pain, Evan looks up at his happy captor; Peter Pettigrew.
