Under the Summer Stars
The full moon lights the hilltop they’ve settled on to stargaze, the air is warm and they’re barely touching, but Sirius feels his skin prickling with electricity against Barty’s.
“And that one is Orion's belt, right?” Barty says, and he’s so lovely and soft when he speaks just for Sirius. Sirius turns his head to look at the boy next to him, thinking about the unexpected friendship that has bloomed between them on this trip, how when they’re shoulder to shoulder under the stars like this, he thinks there's something else stirring under the surface.
Barty turns his face towards him, and they’re so close, that Sirius could easily just lean forward, and their noses would touch… He glances up at Barty’s eyes, fixated on his lips…
Slowly, they move closer, their noses brushing, Sirius can feel Barty’s soft exhale against his lips, just a breath away now, Sirius’ breath hitches, a pause, his hand reaching for Barty’s, a reassurance when their fingers intertwine that they know what they’re doing, that they’re both in this.
As their lips touch, they’re interrupted by Evan, exclaiming, “There you guys are, thank Gods!”
