Chapter 6

Hermione

Numb.

It's all I feel as I stare at the walls of a gryffindor dorm I once called home. How far away that life feels, sitting here in this room with a book in hand and a smile on my face as I listened to Lavender and Parvati gossip about boys. Parvati.

Once I'd gotten back to the gryffendor tower I found Harry in the common room waiting, in his hands a list of the deceased.

Parvati patil

Colin creevey

Angelina Johnson

Alicia Spinnet

Oliver wood

Lee Jordan,

...and Fred Weasley.

I almost scream at the thought and put my head between my knees as my body rakes with sobs. My brother. My mind screams. My brother! I've been sitting here for hours, since getting the news, and that is only the list from gryffindor.

A part of me doesn't care about the other houses, because no one else could matter as much as him. Fred. My brother. My protector.

My family.

Another round of sobs shakes through my body, loud enough that I don't even hear George come in until he's pulling me into his arms. "Hi..." my voice is horse and broken as it comes out and the sound just causes me to bury my face in his chest as tears continue to run down my face.

"Hi." He replies his voice quite and much like mine, broken. I start to feel wetness on the top of my head indicating he too is crying. "I-I can't believe he's—he's gone." He finally cries and if possible my heart shatters just a little more. "I don't know how to live without him, he's my twin, s-something's missing without him."

George brakes down into full on sobs and all I can do is hold him. I don't tell him it's ok, because it's not. I don't tell him we all needed to make sacrifices, because we didn't. I don't tell him I wish it had been me,

Because soon it will be.

Harry

"Are you sure we should go get them? Dumbledore is waiting." My father says and I shake my head. "Dumbledore can wait, they need time to grieve. It's the least they deserve." I say the last bit a bit quieter then the first but it's every bit as true. "So, what exactly happened?" A girl I've come to learn is Marlene asks. "They lost their brother."

"They're related? I would have never guessed." Remus says and I once again shake my head. "No, it's not—he was the prongs to her Padfoot." I say hoping they'd understand better and I'm guessing it works because they all nod and a round of 'oh's goes around the room. "So, I'm guessing prongs here—" he points to my dad. "Is your Dadio—seeing as your last name is potter—so tell us, who is the lucky lady."

My father grins like a Cheshire and my mother groans and buries her hand in her hands and i can't help but smile. My eyes are on my mothers as I say, "I think you already know." Sirius's smile gets even bigger and him an Marlene high five before he turns to my mum and puts his hand out. She huffs before handing him a galleon.

I raise an eyebrow and he laughs. "In third year me and lils made a bet about who she would end up with, she had said she would never in a million years marry James, I said she would the first chance she got." Dad laughs but then seems to let it sink in before he's looking over to mum. "Hey! I'm very weddable thank you very much!" He says crossing his arms over his chest with a pout. "Sure you are James." She rolls her eyes. "Hey your one to talk, you married me!"

I don't know how to feel right now. I'm talking to my parents, who I never thought I'd meet, and my godfather who I watched die, but I can't bring myself to be completely happy because I still lost a hundred more and I don't know if I'll get them back. I find myself bearing a sad smile at the thought.

"So what about the others you were with—Ooh and that granger girl? What was that hug steamy about?" Sirius said waggling his eyebrows and I couldn't help but grimace. "God no, Hermione is my best friend—practically my sister." He nods. "Then she must be moonys right?" At that he seemed a bit sullen but it didn't stop Remus from automatically sitting up straighter at the possibility of having a kid.

I scratch the back of my neck. "Uh, we'll no." I look at Sirius whose shoulders seemed to have dropped and hesitate. She needs someone. "Hermione—she's actually—"

"Right here," I look behind me to see Hermione and Fred—George—my mind corrects sadly—standing by the stairwell, Mione glaring daggers at me. "And not in favor of giving out my family situation at the moment." She says and Sirius laughs. "Been there." He snorts.

If you only knew....

Hermione

It's sureal.

Seeing him again, I never thought I would. I'd watched him die in the department of mysterys, taking the last bit of hope I had with him, but here he is, younger and  happier then ever and I couldn't even injoy it. My best friend got his family back and all I got was the one I didn't want.

If Fred was here he'd laugh about the irony.

"Hi, Hermione right?" A girl with a kind smile and red hair—who I assume to be lily Evans says offering me her hand. "I'm Lily, it's nice to meet you. I'm sorry for your loss and for these imbisiles, they don't know how to read a room if someone wrote it out on the walls for them."

I give a small smile but even that is hard. "I'm very aware of who you are, if not for the fact that your my best friends mother, then for the fact that I've been refered to as your golden haired clone every now and again." I say with distinct memories of Proffessor McGonagle whispering under her breath 'just like lily'. Lily looked suddenly intreged. "Oh, are you a—"

I nod. "A muggleborn yes. It's nice to meet you despite the circumstance." She nodded and let go of my hand. "This is—"

"Padfoot, Prongs, and moony. Otherwise known as Sirius Black, James potter, and remus Lupin, the Murauders." I purposly leave out peter who is standing over near a girl with dark skin dark hair and dark eyes, leading me to believe she was Mary.

Everyone but Harry and George are confused about the exclusion. "Actually it's four of us—" I swiftly cut James off and look towards harry. "Where are Ginny, Ron, and Neville?" I ask and the fact that I so swiftly changed subject isn't lost on the group but I can't find it In me to care. "Left already, Ginny knew George wound need a second, Neville went to be there for her, and Ron....well, you know how he gets..."

Yes I was quite aware of how Ron got, you could say more then anyone else. "Right, well let's get this over with, shall we?" There was a chorus of nods all around the room and I choose to take the lead and make my way to the door with  George on my left and Harry on my right.

Only I wish it was Fred.

Theo

"So...."Malfoy immediately rolls his eyes. Asshat. "How many people do you think are going to try to kill us when we walk in?" I ask turning to Pansy. She takes a second to think on it. "I'd say bout four." Sounds pretty accurate.

"You think anyone would stop 'em?" I'm met by a couple snorts and quite a few laughs. "Yeah right Dumbledore would probably watch from his big old chair, then award points to whoever kills us." Blaise says taking a puff from his cigarette making aunt cissa scrunch up her nose. Ah, some things never change. "I'd suggest you put that out before we walk in." She says as we approach the great hall.

He nods putting it out again the wall before throwing it on the floor nearby. "My, such class." Bellatrix says sarcasm dripping from her voice in tons. "These fuckers are scary like us." Crouch Jr comments and Black laughs. "You mean scary like you Bart, me and Severus have yet to meet a clone of us and you so far have met two."

I assume he means me and Blaise.

Draco

We walk into the hall and imediantly all the chatter goes silent. I assume by now everyone has been filled in about the war from their own children—and is quite aware of the part we played in it---as we are imediantly met with glares and sneers.

The first to apraoch are Finnagin and his Gryffindor goons. "Well, if it isn't the future deatheaters themselves!" He says his gaze filled with malace that I guess someone who hadn't faced the dark lord before would flinch at. But honestly I just want to look him in the eye and say, 'And two current ones dipshit.' but that wouldn't bode well for mine or my uncle's case.

"You've got some nerve showing up here." He snarls and for a second I want to recoil—not out of fear—but because the dumb fuck spit on me.  "Last time I checked," One of the Lestrange brothers steps up—Hell if I know which one—until he stands with me, shoulder to shoulder. "We go to school here, you—" He points to Finnigan. "showed up yesterday."

The other of the two brothers—Rodulphus, I believe—takes my other side. "Which means, if anyone has a right to be here it's us." At this point My father has taken a place right over my shoulder and Regulus Black, an uncle I never quite knew is behind my other. Next to them are blaise and theo and beside The lestrange brothers are my mother, Aunt Bella, and Pansy, all ready for attack.

Seasmus himself has quite the backup, a mix of gryffendor and hufflepuff boys stand beside and behind him as I try not to laugh at there pathetic attempt at intimidation. "You know what you are Malfoy?" Finnigon asks taking a step forward. "You're—" He stops abruptly and his little gryffindor cronies all back away as if just faced with a three-headed-dog.

There's only one person I know that could cause such a reaction.

Granger.

And sure enough we all turn to see her staring straight at finnagin, a group of gryffendors surrounding her, Potter and one of the weasley twins at her side like bodyguards. She takes a step towards him."Please, don't let me interupt you, that sounded like the beginning  of a very passionate speech." She says and I swear the cold in her eyes could make one freeze to death.

"Hermione—" Finnigon starts, already trying to backtrack, but the damage has been done. She walks towards him until she stands right in front of him. "You should be fucking ashamed." She almost seethes with rage and all the intimidation and bravodo the boy held earlier is gone. yes, boy, because at this moment I've never seen anyone farther from a man.

"But they're—" She immediately cuts him off. "I don't care who they fuck they are, I don't care what they did, because in the end It's done." Her voice is powerful but most importantly it's final. "We are here to honor those we have lost, and fighting like a wild animal and throwing around petty insults does nothing but make you look foolish." He lowers his head in shame and I've never seen someone look smaller.

"So grow the fuck up and show some respect." With those final words she shoulders past him and goes to join Dumbledore and McGonagle on the platform, Potter right behind her as the others that were with them go and take their seats at the Gryffindor table. Finnagin gives one last bitchy look before and his little possy take their own seats.

And once again, it's Granger to the rescue.

2126 words.

Ok....so what do you think? Oh by the way, I would like to adress something, as It might get confusing to some but you might here Draco refer to Regulus as his uncle and that's because in my culture you refer to your mothers cousin by aunt or uncle, not second cousin and I just got used to that so that's what I'll be doing.
