Infrunami Pt. 1
Remus Lupin was convinced that Sirius Black could never like him back.
It wasn’t that Remus was self-hating. No, Remus knew he was funny. He knew he was attractive. He knew he could write a damn good song.
At this point, Remus was convinced Sirius had some serious (ha) blinders on, because wow, they had chemistry. Remus couldn’t count the number of times they stayed up late writing new lyrics, or tweaking the bass line, and had a moment.
And if either of them had alcohol, forget it.
When Sirius drank, his eyes turned glossy, but to Remus, it only made them sparkle even more. And he would touch Remus.
Anywhere. Everywhere.
His knee.
His shoulder.
His bicep.
His lower back.
It was as though drinking alcohol turned Sirius into a bottle of glue, and Remus was the target of a toddler’s craft.
Remus, naturally, couldn’t get enough of it.
Nevertheless, it was never more than playful flirting with Sirius.
Sirius knew Remus was gay, and it felt as though anyone with a brain could tell Remus fancied the pants off him, so clearly the ball was in Sirius’ court.
So Remus waited.
And waited.
And waited.
But moment after moment passed by without a move by Sirius, and finally, Remus admitted to himself, it wasn’t going to happen.
Did it suck? Of course. Remus knew that what they had was special, and if Sirius just gave it a chance it would be perfect. But Remus was a realist, he didn’t have his head in the clouds, so he concluded that Sirius Black would never feel the same.
Of course, Remus had no idea that within three days of coming to this conclusion everything would change, but he couldn’t tell the future.
And then there was today.
When Remus woke up he certainly didn’t think anything was out of the ordinary. No birds chirping, there was traffic on the way to the studio, he stopped at the same stand he always did for a pack of cigarettes and a black coffee.
He moved through the city like any other day.
When he made it to the studio, he pulled out his base and strummed the line of a bridge he and Sirius had been tweaking the day before.
“Remus! I did it!” Sirius exclaimed, slamming the studio door behind him.
“I wrote our first hit!” Sirius was practically bouncing foot to foot.
“Alright!” Remus said with a grin, “Let’s hear it then.”
Sirius dragged a stool right across from Remus, while Remus stared at him, expectantly.
Sirius began to play.
Girl, you're the one I want
You're the one I need
I'm beggin' you, please
Can you come back to me
Cause I was blind to see
That you were right in front of me
They locked eyes.
You were right in front of me
Girl, I was blind to see
That you were right in front of me
And suddenly, before Remus could even process what had happened, Sirius’ lips were on his.
