Chapter 3
She read the paper the next morning on the release and innocence of Sirius Black. He was being treated at St Mungos until he was stable to leave on his own and the Ministry was compensating him for the time stuck in there and for being placed in there without a trial.
Peter Pettigrew was placed in a cell that was surrounded by wards, with a collar on him to prevent shifting. Hermione approved and hoped that was enough to prevent escape. The picture of Pettigrew showed his dark mark.
She hoped this meant Harry will be taken away from the Dursleys. She briefly considered going up to her uncle and introducing herself but that made her nervous so maybe not yet.
As her father was still alive and Gringott's already had her proofed as his daughter, Sirius wouldn't gain the Black Lordship title. Which meant she may meet him sooner rather than later to be questioned on her existence. She was the rightful heir. She hoped her mother found Regulus soon.
Meanwhile, she focused on school. Separating Harry and Ron and them being in anything but Gryffindor was doing good for both of them. Harry had made some friends and often seen doing his school work in the library with his group. She wasn't sure who did it, but she guessed a higher up student had shrunk his school robes to fit better on him and repaired his glasses as the tape was gone.
She ignored Ron for the most part. He was gaining some self identity in Hufflepuff and as usual was always hungry. She was at least glad he was making friends away from shadows like he would have been around his brothers and Harry.
He hadn't softened towards Slytherins but he did keep his mouth shut. Sometimes she did see Ron look at Harry in confusion now that he was wearing Green. She had no plans to interfere in between them unless absolutely necessary. Probably in a few years time.
Draco also had affects of being a Ravenclaw. He would have been a Prince in Slytherin but here he was just Draco. Still spoiled but not as... loud about it? It didn't bring him little henchmen or anything to be that way. She found he could actually be pleasant to hang with. Plus he could keep up with her conversations.

As she did her part for Sirius, she focused on her studies. It bored her for the most part but she atleast made sure everything was finished. She often spaced out wondering on how well this will go. About the separation of the golden trio. That gave her more glee than she expected. Not because she didn't miss her best friends to a certain level. Truthfully she hoped this change them for the better as she hadn't talked to them in years before she was reborn. No, the glee was messing with Albus Dumbledore on his plans. A gift for Harry. He needed to be separated from the image the world had of Harry Potter, slayer of the Dark Lord. Stupidest thing she had ever heard. He didn't do it, his mother did. She'd work on that story later through the Quibbler when Luna gets here next year.
Bored as she is with her lessons, she was already studying ahead, she was sure she could take her owls this year if she wanted but wanted to take this slow. She might take a few NEWTS here and there in the coming years.
"Are you okay Hermione? You don't seem very interested in class even though it is pretty obvious you know the answers. I've heard the professors are frustrated with it, knowing you are able," Theo and Draco slip into seats at her table in the library. She closes her book to look at them.
"How observant of everyone. Yes I am not interested much in our classes, my studies have me learning at least 5th year. And before you ask, no I don't want to bring this knowledge to the professors." She says.
"Why not? You're not being challenged with what we are learning!" Draco looked outraged.
"I don't need more attention on me," thats all she could say. Theo seems to get it, which she knew he did. He was the one to teach her how to blend in with the shadows if she needed it.
"What are you reading about," Theo changes the subject for her. Draco's expression clearly said he wanted to continue it but gives in with a nod.
"Well, I think I want to be a healer. So I pick random books on the subject to decide what kind of healer I want to be. I would like to try some of these spells if you want to help."
"Why not ask to be an apprentice or to help in the hospital wing with Madam Pompfrey?" Draco points out.
"Maybe in 3rd year. We have more classes then and I have not decided which classes I'll have yet. For now though," she acts like she was picking a random student studying in the library. She points at Harry. "Can one of you ask him to come over here?" Theo does it. Harry looks surprised but does follow him to her table.
"Hello Harry Potter, I am Hermione Granger," she introduces herself. "Apologies for interupting your studies. I promise to be quick.
I plan on being a healer and have started learning about it. I have a spell for eyes I would like to try and as you are wearing glasses, I'd like to try it on you. I can ask madam Pompfrey and a professor to supervise it as well," she ask away. He stares at her like she grew a second head but then he looked to actually thinking about it.
"Can I think about it?" He looks back at her.
"Of course! Take your time!" she smiles encouragingly. He nods at them all before going back to his table.
The beginning of October Brought a nice breeze through the warm air and an answer from Harry. She was sitting by the lake with a Hippogriff. she got many a strange glance for it but she didn't bother explaining how she met it on her walks and it seemed to like her. Hagrid had walked her through greeting the large creature. Now it followed her everywhere when outside.
Harry politely bows to the beast before sitting in front of her on the blanket she had laid out.
"Okay, I accept your offer. I don't think its necessary to have madam Pomprey but I would Like Professor Snape there as my Head of House."
"I'm fine with that. When would be the best time for you?"
"Prodessor Snape said he will be free tomorrow during your free period. It is the same time as ours so we can meet in an empty classroom or something." She ponders the location.
"Yes, there is an empty room on the 4th floor that could work. Thank you for letting me do this by the way."
"More like I should thank you. I won't have glasses for my cousin to break over the summer anymore," he chuckles at her. She smiles on the outside, but she felt bitterness at his treatment at him on the inside.
---
"I hope you know, you are going to bring attention to his looks by the girls in his house when you do this?" Her Godfather enters the room with Draco and Theo right behind him. All 3 giggle at this.
"I'd think he'd prefer being looked at by girls thinking he is cute than by strangers looking at him for being the Chosen One," she grins.
"You got that right," Harry smirks as he enters last. He greets everyone while the professor rolls his eyes though she sees it wasn't filled with disdain. Harry sits in the chair in front of her.
She starts the enchantment she's had practiced to perfection. The wand movement felt like second now.
To Harry, his vision was slowly bluring behind the glasses. As he didn't know what to expect, he nervously hoped his vision was not now worse. He pulls off the glasses to release the headache forming. It was a longer spell than what they usually learned. He tries so stay still.
"Close you eyes, Mr Potter," His Head of House murmurs near him. Another minute passes before she finishes. "Keep your eyes closed for a few minutes to give it time to work."
They chit chat about the potions homework they had recieved earlier that morning.
Hermione walks over to Harry with an old eye exame board. "You can open your eyes now," he blinks a few times before focusing on her and the board. They follow the procedure of him reading it and her stepping backwards as he kept at it. It worked. Harry's eyes no longer needed glasses.
The boys cheer around her in celebration. Her godfather lays a hand on her should. "You did well Hermione. Your father would be proud. I know I am," a tear falls at those words. She didn't know she needed them until they were said.
Harry hugs her before all 3 boys join together to head to the Quidditch pitch to fly the rest of the free period. She knew he just wanted to experience the view from up high with his new vision.
