Chapter 1

Hermione looked up from where she had been crying, hearing and smelling something. She slowly stepped backwards, moving towards the row of toilets trying to keep as much distance between herself and the giant troll blocking her only means of exit.

Holding her breath, she slid into a stall in the hopes of hiding and remaining undetected. Unfortunately for her, the troll took its giant club and battered down the top of each stall door causing her to shriek and reveal her position to the two rushing down the hall.

“Granger, move!” Draco demanded, stealing her attention away from the troll momentarily. But before she could, the troll had battered down the rest of the wooden stalls

While she crawled out from under and then along the rubble, both Draco and Theo attempted to distract the troll. Unfortunately for them, it turned attention to them.

Draco had finished considering his options. His best chance of success was the spell that had brought the witch to the bathrooms in the first place. ‘Swish and flick’ indeed, he thought to himself as he levitated the troll's club and used it to knock the beast out.

Theo was quick to run over and check the young witch for injuries. “Is it dead?” She asked cautiously, watching the troll.

“I don’t think so,” Draco said. He was pretty sure it had only been temporarily passed out.

“Weasel is a cunt, Granger, never forget that,” Draco demanded.

“You saved me?” She asked, confused.

“I did,” Draco commented.

“I was here as well.” Theo pointed out with a grin and a wink.

“And that comment about Weasley. Why would you have all people save me? Why would you care about my comfort?” She asked, confused.

“It’s simple enough, Granger. Malfoys only have the best. You, Miss Granger, are the best witch here that makes you mine.” Draco said with a disaffected shrug.

Theo threw an arm around Granger, still beaming. “And I’m here because everyone else in this school is painfully idiotic. Please, Granger, don’t let us suffer, idiots.

Any more weird conversation was stopped when the teachers took to the room. “Explain yourselves this instant!” Professor McGonagall demanded, clutching her heart. “Mr Weasley and Potter said Miss Granger could not be found! “

“It is my fault, Professor and maybe partially Weasley plus Potters.” She insisted, putting herself between her head of house, Professor Snape and Professor Quirrell. “I didn’t attend dinner, so I was unaware of the troll. I would have died before you arrived if it wasn’t for Malfoy or Nott’s quick thinking. They were quite timely and heroic. But, if they had waited for you, I’m afraid you would have been left explaining to my parents that their daughter was pate.” She defended.

“Be that as it may,” she said, giving a stern look at the students, “it was an extremely foolish thing to do.” The woman accused. “Not many students could take on a mountain troll and survive.”

“I agree. Five points will be awarded to each boy. However, should I catch you taking risks in the future, you will not be so lucky. Have I made myself clear?” Snape demanded.

“Surely you don’t reward such behaviour?” McGonagall asked, outraged.

“Professor, considering that both Malfoy and Nott have confirmed or suspected Death Eaters for fathers? If they were concerned enough about the safety of a Muggleborn student, they might put self-preservation aside to rescue her. Shouldn’t that be rewarded rather than punished?” Hermione questioned in an innocent voice.

“Fine. Severus, your students may keep their points for sheer dumb luck.” Minerva said, not looking pleased in the least as she whirled around and strode from the room
