Harry was always in harms way, always the centre of attention. While Ron was jealous of him, Harry hated it, he was never able to have a normal life, not even before Hogwarts, treated as nothing more than a slave.Dumbledore had always known that if he let the prophecy run its course, it was more than likely the child would suffer for it. So he came up with a plan.Rather than the Boy Who Lived being in the public eye, he took another child, made him look like the boy, and made him act as Harry until he died, when the real one would reenter the wizarding world, capable of bringing Voldemort down, and loyal enough to give the victory to him. The early chapters were written a while ago and I have recently come back to it to update it, but I can't be bothered to completely rewrite it.
