Enter the Heir of Hearth

Sally, Remus, and Sirius waited for Hecate to arrive.  Sally had informed them on their way home about Hecate dropping off another kid. The three knew they’d have their hands full until the three children grew up a little. Perseus and Harry had been set down for a nap so they wouldn’t be disturbing anything when Hecate came by.

Both Remus and Sirius were still emotionally raw from the reading of Lily’s and James’s wills. They had been grateful for Hecate removing Harry from the Dursleys. Lily had explicitly stated that under no circumstance was Harry to go to her sister. She would rather Harry go to the Malfoys’ rather than her sister, at least magicals wouldn’t abuse him.

A soft knock at the door had Remus leaping towards the door to open it. On the other side stood Hecate with a small child that Remus recognized as Alice and Frank’s child.

“Neville.” Remus said in shock before looking up at Hecate, his eyes pleading

He couldn’t take more deaths in his friend group. He only had so many left. Not Frank and Alice, not them who took the time to really know him despite the war and the heavy stigma of werewolves when most had openly joined Voldemort’s side.

“I’m sorry Remus. The Lestranges found them and tortured them into insanity. Neville was left unharmed but he almost fell into Dumbledore’s clutches.” Hecate explained while she handed him the sleeping child.

“He’s been blessed though. By two deities, his father was a god in a mortal shell. I hope that you can protect him.” Hecate murmurs before she disappeared

Remus stands there for a while in shock before he takes the child inside. Alice and Frank had been tortured, for gods knows how long and there was no way to fix them.

“Remus, are you okay?” came the coarse voice of Sirius

Sirius stood in the living room and Remus felt that he was crying once again.

“Alice and Frank, they…” Remus couldn’t bear to finish as he looked down at Neville in his arms and held him close

“No... Remus tell me…. Tell me you’re lying!” Sirius demanded

Remus could only shake his head sadly, eyes still on Neville’s sleeping form. The war was over and so many were gone. So many children were either dead or orphans. Parents and Grandparents grieved for their lost children. So much had happened to this enclave that Hecate herself wondered would this place survive.

And for the second time that day, Sirius burst into hysterical sobs, he had lost so many and it seemed around every corner he’d lose even more.

Harry stood in his crib looking at the nice lady who was helping Perseus into his crib. They were supposed to be sleeping but Harry didn’t want to. He wanted his mummy. She had been hit with the green light and had gone to sleep but he wanted her now.

“Muma?” Harry called out hesitantly, hoping that she would answer

Sally looked over to see Harry standing in his crib, eyes wide as he looked past her. His hesitant call for his mother broke Sally’s heart but she knew she could do nothing about it. Feeling a shiver run up her spine, Sally turned to the area where Harry was looking at and gasped.

An angelic figure stood tall; his black wings curled at his side. He was looking right back at Harry with a grim yet amused expression on his face. His coal black eyes held many emotions some of which Sally could not decipher.

She couldn’t decipher who he was but Sally knew he was a god. Sally shuffled a bit and the god’s eyes turned to her. He seemed to be looking into her very soul before his expression changed into one of amusement.

“Sally Jackson I presume?” the god asked

Sally could do nothing but nod numbly. He was not like the other god’s she had encountered. While Poseidon's power was massive it was not oppressive unlike this god’s whose aura left her with a sense of foreboding and paranoia.

“Hmph. I spent a few weeks looking for you only to find out that you were putting the two children of Prophecy to sleep. Did you know that your lover was looking for you and your child?” the god asked her

“I did not.” Sally replied truthfully

When Sally had given birth to Perseus, Poseidon’s presence from her life was completely gone. He no longer spared any quick visits or came by to check in on her.

“Well he is. But I’m not here for you right now or the children so calm.” the god added when he saw Sally tense, “The Peverell line is under my watch and I do need to check on the last person of the main line.” the god commented lightly

Sally’s eyes widened before she knew who he was. This was Thanatos, the god of death. She had read the Tale of the Three Brothers, and it made sense that something that was read as a fairy tale to many magical children was held some truth within it.

“Muma.” Harry called out again and Thanatos made his way over to the child

“Your mother has not yet entered my realm child and she never will. I come bearing a message from the Sisters. They say that your mother will return to you when the time is right. All you have to do is wait for the lightning.” Thanatos said before he poked the child’s forehead and faded into the shadows

Harry seemed to understand him because he clapped happily and jumped a bit. Sally let loose a breath she didn’t know she had been holding and left the room. The child Hecate had mentioned should be here by now.

Sally made her way to the living room to see Sirius on the floor sobbing and Remus clutching a child to his chest, dead to the world. Sally slowly made her way over to Remus to loosen his grip on the child. After several attempts, she was successful and pulled the child into her arms.

She set the child into the extra crib that Hecate had bought before going back into the living room to pull Remus towards Sirius. They needed each other right about now and she would look after the children once they had gotten most of it out of their system.

An old deity awoke from their slumber clutching their head. Memories flashed before their eyes like a film. The cold suppressing loneliness causing them to do something desperate. Falling into one of their sister’s worlds, discovering magic with the help of a young boy. Severus. Their mind supplied.

The memories went faster. They were practicing magic when Severus was hexed by a boy with glasses. Rage filled them and they soon found themselves yelling at the boy before taking Severus to the hospital.

“I wish I wasn’t a Gryffindor, Sev, then we wouldn’t have to deal with those bullies.” They remembered saying to the pale boy who was lying in a hospital bed

Severus merely smiled before they were told to leave.

They were older now and Severus had gotten them a wonderful emerald necklace.

“To match your eyes.” he had told them before reassuring them that they spent no money whatsoever, it was an old family heirloom that his mother didn’t want anymore

They were so grateful that they wore it everywhere. Until those four boys came along. They had distracted them and had taken the necklace, claiming it was probably cursed. They had taken it to the Headmaster and they never saw it again.

Tears fell from their eyes as they told Severus who went red with rage but held them close as they cried, guilty over losing something so precious.

The four boys were there again and had Severus hanging by his ankles. In their rush they had forgotten what they could have done. So focused on getting Severus down. He had called them mudblood and they ran away, so mad and ashamed at themselves. After calming down they felt extremely guilty, they had left Sev in his time of need. They had left him there.

They now went out of their way to avoid Severus, not out of anger but of guilt. They found themselves falling into one of the terrible boy’s arms, slowly but surely falling in love with them. How they didn’t know, everything always seemed blurry whenever they were with him.

They’re pregnant now, softly embracing the bump that held their child. They’re so happy and their thoughts turn to Severus, and they’re crying again. They missed him so much but now that the war had officially kicked off and they were on opposite sides, there was no way to get in contact with him.

“I did this to him. I pushed him away that I broke him.” They sobbed

Their child is born and he has their eyes. He’s so beautiful and they would die for him. Memories begin to blur again before they find themselves subtly glaring at the old man as they clutched their child.

A prophecy around their child or Alice’s. This would not bode well, not with how the man’s eyes are sparkling. They set out to find a way to protect little Harrison. They find a ritual and all is history from there.

James is telling her to run but they know it’s over for them, not Harrison just them. They run to the nursery and set Harrison down. Voldemort is on them and they plead with the man that fears death. Three times he tells them to move and three times they refuse. The ritual has been complete and now they accept death with open arms.

Except they aren’t dead, they’re on an island far away from their child who is still alive.

“Harrison, don’t worry my child I will come for you soon.” they whispered into the wind before trying to find a way off this island
