Chapter 2

“Has anyone seen my Beetle-wing earrings? Or did the Nargles again took it?” Ginny, for the umpteenth time, heard Luna asking about her stolen possessions. Nothing new, really. She always heard or see Luna being the object of laughter, and she’s getting sick of it.

“Loony, maybe Peeves took it.” one of her classmates stated. Luna, perplexed, “Peeves?” Her classmates respond, “Yes! Follow me and you’ll see.”

Just as when Luna is about to follow the guy, Ginny held her. “Stop it. I know who where your things are, Luna.” She dragged Luna away from their classmates — who are confused by Ginny’s sudden action. “Really? Where are they?” Luna beamingly asked.

The two went to Hagrid’s Cabin. “Luna! Good o see ye!” Hagrid greeted Luna. “Where are the things I told you to keep?” Ginny politely asked. “Ah, of course it’s ‘ere.” Hagrid went inside his hut then carries a bag of all, in Ginny’s opinion, unusual things. All of them were Luna’s. “You have them!” Luna happily stated before taking all of her things, “You know, I thought the Nargles took away all of my things. Thanks, Hagrid!”

“Ah, that’s nothin’, ye know. I took ‘em from the Nergles ‘cause I know it’s yers...”

Luna hugged Hagrid before facing Ginny. “Thank you. I thought I wouldn’t see them again.” She thanked before wearing her Beetle-wing earrings and fixes her other things which, some of them, are broken. Luna saw her spectrespecs and wore them, “You know, I really like this one. It’s one of my favourites.” She said then proceed to showed her shoes which is, in Ginny’s opinion, is unusual. “I never had to walk barefoot anymore!”

Hagrid chuckles, “Ye sure won’t. Yer feet bin d’rty ye know. It’s not good walkin’ no protections in the feet.” Luna smiles, “I’m glad you took them from the Nargles!”

Ginny took it from their classmates. Some of them were even hidden in the most dangerous places like the Forbidden Forest (which nearly sent Ginny to detention); The Whomping Willow (the tree gave her bruises); and Quidditch pitch (she was hit by a Bludger).

Ginny subtly went to Hagrid. “Do Nargles really exist?” She asked. Hagrid shrugged, “No idea.” Ginny furrows her eyebrows, confused, “Just ‘ave ‘o go along with ‘er,”

Luna kept thanking Ginny all the time and she even promised the latter to give her another pair of Beetle-wing earrings, which Ginny declined.

It was dinner time so Ginny went to the Great Hall where dinner was served. She even caught a glimpse of his brother eating a mouthful of roast chicken. Harry is eating peacefully until Colin suddenly went to him, asking for another autograph — which was stopped by another student. Ginny stared at Harry. He sure have the looks so it’s no wonder why she had a crush on him before. Romilda Vane is even eyeing at him, but she strongly believes it’s because he’s the Chosen One.

Then here goes Hermione, who has a book at her other hand while eating her dinner. She can’t help but amused seeing her. She already got used to it but she can’t help to get amused sometimes. Ginny took her seat and enjoyed the food served before her. What food’s better than here in Hogwarts?

She couldn’t tell.

“Have you heard? Romilda Vane is in detention right now.” Ginny heard a student from Gryffindor talked. “It was said that she was trying to put love potion in Harry Potter’s drink!”

Ginny couldn’t help but listen to what they are talking especially that Harry was mentioned. Not that she still had a crush on him, he became her friend now. “Really? Bloody hell! Where did she get the love potion?” She saw the boy getting smacked by his friend, “Stupid! Of course, from Weasley & Weasley!”

“I reckoned she only likes him because he is the chosen one.” He shrugs. “Isn’t he and that Granger dating?”

This time, Ginny’s full attention is in their conversation. She even failed to notice she finished her plate already. “What?” the other boy asked, completely flabbergasted. “Where did you get that information?” The former shrugged, “I don’t know. But I saw them every time whenever that Weasley is practicing or dating Brown. I even saw them together at the library, laughing.”

“They are friends, of course they are always together.”

“I know, but it’s impossible for him not to like Hermione, after the Yule Ball, she’s gotten prettier than she was before!”

“You find her pretty before?”

“Of course! She’s pretty! She’s cute, especially when she furrowed her eyebrows while reading a book.”

“So that’s the reason why you are always at the library?”

“Yes, so I don’t find it surprising to find out she and Harry are dating.”

“I think there’s nothing more than that. I heard someone from Ravenclaw that Harry used to date Cho before.”

“But they broke up, right? Maybe because —”

An unfamiliar feeling engulfs Ginny that made her hard to swallow the Pumpkin juice she’s holding. It’s uncomfortable and suffocating at the same time that she chose to leave the Great Hall just so she could not hear the Gryffindors’ conversation.

She slammed the door vigorously before sitting on her bed. She couldn’t understand herself. Why is she feeling this? Is this. . . jealousy? She thought. No, it can’t be. She’s certain that she no longer likes Harry. She even supports him when he dated Cho. So why is she feeling this? She’s confused.

Harry and Hermione dating? That’s good to know. She thought. Hermione will surely help Harry about his homework and will help him improve. But somehow. . . something in her disagrees with that idea. What is it and why is that? Why is there a part of her opposed with that idea? Could it be that she likes Harry still? Or. . .

“Ron, of course,” she said to herself. She might not quite sure, but there is something the way Ron looked at Hermione. She guessed he might have a crush on Hermione. Maybe she’s worried that it’ll somehow affect his brother if it’s true.

“So tiring.” She plumped herself in her bed. Her body’s tired, but her mind’s still on the conversation of the boys earlier. It makes her frustrated. She closed her eyes hoping to erase all her thoughts but it just got worse. She let out a sigh.

“What are you thinking?” Ophelia’s voice made her open her eyes. She was already looking at Ginny. “You look. . . like Filch when your brothers made him chased them inside the Quidditch pitch.” Ginny laughs, remembering Mr. Filch running after Fred and George who’s riding their broomsticks around the Quidditch pitch. Many students saw that. Professor McGonagall severely punished the two.

“It’s nothing,” Lie. It’s not nothing. This bothers her more than anything. “You know pretty well how I can read you whether you are lying or not.” Ophelia stated. “So, what’s up, buttercup?”

“I don’t know…” she sighs, “I feel so tired all of the sudden. I think I just need some sleep. Goodnight.”

Why is she feeling this way? She asked to herself.
