The next thing, Sirius felt, was a warmth on his body and a nice, comforting smell.
Something was laying on top of this body.
Something warm, something soft.
It was a blanket, probably.
It felt like one.
He tried to remember what happened
His mother had screamed at him.
That he was a major disappointment, a curse to this family and shit.
His father had punched him.
Then they had kicked him out.
He had arrived at the Potters.
And had passed out in front of their yard.
Sirius slowly opened his eyes and looked around.
The living room.
He was laying on the couch, on many pillows and with a thick, warm blanket over him.
The Black let out a deep sigh.
He felt terribly tired.
So tired, that everything in his body refused to move.
He just stayed there, on the couch, staring at the ceiling.
Then, he suddenly smelled something really good.
His stomach growled.
He hadn’t eaten anything for…a long time.
“Did you sleep well, honey?”
He looked at the direction where the calm voice had came from.
Euphemia looked at him, smiling with a plate of pasta in her hand.
How happy he was to see her…
“Yeah, thanks.”
“Of course. I made you some noodles, if you want.”
She put the plate on the little table.
“And we’re gonna have to cool your cheek. It’s all swollen up and red.”, she said, with a concerned tone in her voice and went back to the kitchen.
Sirius got up and began to eat.
It was very tasty.
The pasta had tomato sauce on top of it, it was weirdly delicious.
Maybe it was because he didn’t eat that kind of food at home.
Euphemia came back, with an ice pack, wrapped in a towel, and sat down next to him.
“Here you go.”, she breathed and gently pressed the pack on his injured cheek.
Sirius escaped a gasp.
It hurted.
More than usual.
“Shh, it’s okay.”, she whispered and softly stroked this head. “I know it hurts.”
A tear ran down Sirius other cheek.
He was so glad to be here, it made him cry.
The big anger and sadness he felt while he was with his parents fainted, when Euphemia Potter comforted and took care of him.
Like a real mother.
Being at the Potters home made him happy.
But also sad, because he realised, that his family could never be like that.
He could escape it, but Regulus was trapped.
And that also made him sad.
So sad, that even more tears found the way into his eyes and he began to sob.
He felt weak and exhausted but also relieved.
“Oh, dear, please don’t cry.”, Euphemia said and pulled him in a hug.
He hugged her tightly and pressed his face against her chest.
“Shh, Sirius, I’m here, it’s okay. I’m here for you.”
“I know…and I’m so thankful for that.”, he sobbed.
She smiled at him and gently stroked his back.
“But please, honey, be a bit more quiet. James is already sleeping and he doesn’t know you’re here. Also we don’t want this hyperactive boy to get so excited in the middle of the night. I’m very happy he sleeps at all.”
Sirius snorted, smiling.
“Yeah, okay, I understand that.”
He broke away from her and wiped of his tears.
“Can I continue with cooling it?”, Euphemia asked and he nodded.
“Yes, please.”
She pressed the ice against his cheek again and then quietly asked: “Do you want to tell me what happened? I mean, why you came to us at 1 AM?”
Sirius shrugged his shoulders.
“I got kicked out. My mother screamed at me for being a curse to the Black-Family and so on, my father punched me and I got kicked out. I didn’t know where to go so I tried to find the way to your house, which I somehow managed to find.”
“Oh, Sirius, that is terrible.”, Euphemia brought out. “I’m so sorry for you.”
“It’s okay. The screaming happens to me in a daily basis, but the kicking out is new. Now I definitely know they don’t want me.”
He let out a sad laugh.
She grabbed her wand and with a few words, the ice pack stayed on Siriuś cheek, so she could pull him in another hug.
“Nobody deserves this kind of treatment. I’m very glad you came to us.”
Sirius smiled.
“Me too.”
