Chapter 1

In august of 1980, Bellatrix Lestrange gave birth to her first and only child. Trixie Lestrange. She was in Azkaban at the time for the torture and attempted murder of the Longbottom Family. Shortly after giving birth, she had to give up her child, no longer mentally sane enough to raise a child (especially not in Azkaban.) Her sister was given her daughter who gave her away to her chosen godfather. Severus Snape.

“Please Sev, you know how full our hands are with Draco. Please can you raise her for us.” Narcissa was begging, they knew not who the father was but that the child was a pureblood, they couldn’t put her up for adoption. “Maybe a child will be good for you! Something to keep your mind off... well, you know.”

He knew what she meant and what it would mean if he gave the child up for adoption, how mad the Black family would be. “Fine. But I do this for you and your husband. Not for your sister.”

“Thank you, Severus.” She handed him a small piece of paper and the adoption papers. Then she left.

-.-.-

He took her home, What in Merlin’s name was he meant to do with a child? Small black curls sat upon the child’s head as the realisation finally hit him. He must raise Bellatrix Lestrange’s child.

He transfigures one of the guest room beds into a crib as he calls his house elf, “Moss!” With a click a small house elf happy to be of service is left with the child as he goes into Diagon ally.

He opens the small piece of paper and finds a shopping list and a check with what he assumes is child support Bellatrix is forced to give whoever took Trixie. He tracks around Diagon Ally in his disguise, no one should see him buying baby thing. He bought the essentials written on the list, but he’ll be damned if this child ruins the look of his house. He bought a Crib, a carrycot, a stroller, a rather dramatic pacifier, and some clothes. All black and gothic, this is his daughter now, she may as well look the part.

-.-.-

I apparated back home. I wasn’t gone for long, still I wasn’t comfortable leaving Trixie alone for so long. Asleep or not that is biologically a Lestrange and a Black, I’ll have to be careful.

I walk threw to the guest room to hear little giggles coming from the other side. “Moss?” I call out to my house elf, maybe she find a sleeping baby funny, who knows. What I see however, is Trixie sat in the air, cross -legged mid-air, giggling at the house elf trying to get her down. She spots me and stops laughing before floating back down into the makeshift crib, we make eye contact as she starts giggling again. This new born child has taught itself how to fly, not 5 months old. I knew she would be trouble but this is too much. I sigh as I grab her out the crib. “Come on Trixie, I need to make up your room. Can you be good for me?” I don’t know how to be parental but considering the closest thing she has experienced close to that was Bella, I’m probably going to be a lot better for her. I set her in the Carrycot, as I start on the room. Painted black with a big window with a large bay window across from the door. I place the round crib in the middle of the room underneath the chandelier. I put her clothes in the walk in closet and decorate the room with the room with non-cursed antiques.

Trixie sat in the carrycot mesmerised with the magic being used to decorate her room sits up grabbing Severus’ attention. “Yes?” He leans down to her as she reaches out, he assumes at first that she wanted to be held again before his snake pin is pulled from his cloak. “Oh? You like the snake..?” He puts the pin on her dress, securing it so it doesn’t accidentally prick her. He stands back up as she giggles at the snake on her dress and decorates with some paintings of snakes moving around in tall grass and a little plushie of a snake. When she’s old enough, he thinks, I’ll get her a snake – a real one.

-.-.-

Narcissa and Lucius decide that Draco and Her should be growing up together like they would be if she was still Bellatrix’s. So a few months later after they’ve settled down, Severus and Trixie go to Malfoy manor.

“Severus is so good to see you!”

“Hello Narcissa. Lucius.” He nods politely to his friends and they let them in.

He sets down the carrycot and takes Trixie out, He hold her gently as he introduces them to her. Properly this time.

“Oh Sev she’s so cute. Her little outfit.” He’s silently glad that she likes the outfit, he has no idea what girls wear and just trusted the worker at the time. Lucius looked at the child confused for a moment before he’d come to some realisation.

“Severus, did you get your daughter a realistic snake plushie?”  look mildly concerned for how he was raising the girl.

“Yes. First day I had her she stole my snake pin and claimed it as her own, I believe she likes snakes quite a bit.” They all looked down at the baby who was holding the plush and babbling at it then to the very familiar pin that the Malfoys had given Severus themselves back in Hogwarts.

“Do you think she’ll speak to them? Snakes I mean.” Narcissa had always loved Parsletongue, Her grandmother used to read bedtime stories in Parsletongue hoping her and her sisters would somehow pick it up.

“Maybe. We’ll have to get her talking English first.” Snape drawled as he looked up to Narcissa, “I just know when she’s old enough I’ll be getting her a real snake as her familiar.”

“But Hogwarts don’t allow snakes?” Lucius Picked up Draco off the floor and handed him to Narcissa.

“Yes well, Dumbledore,” He drew out the name, disgust present in tone. “has asked me to be the potions professor come 1981. So you’ll have to look after Trixie quite a bit if that’s no bother, Though I’m sure moss can handle her when you cannot.”

“Of course Severus.” Her eyes kind, understanding. “We know what Dumbledore thinks you owe him, but can’t you take her with you?” she has his best interests at heart obviously, and being without Trixie throughout the day will be hard especially after raising her for so long before he goes, however.

“I’ll admit Narcissa, I am worried about what he will do when he finds out I am raising Bellatrix’s child. Did you hear where he sent Lily’s boy?” He looks at them, anger clear.

“No Sev, we haven’t heard.” It wasn’t long ago the incident had happened, everyone assumed that Remus or McGonagall would be looking after him as the closest thing he’d have to magical parents.

“He left the boy with her muggle sister and husband. They have their own son too. But she hates Magic, her sister. Jealous Lily got it over her, I’m afraid of what they’re going to do to him.”

Their convocation gets cut short by a babble, talking of Lily had him distracted enough for Trixie to float out his arms and over to Draco who cooed at the floating girl. The Malfoys looked baffled. “Severus. Your daughter-?”

He finally notices, “Oh Trixie, Merlin not again.” He sounds exhausted as he plucks her from the air and puts her firmly on the ground where Narcissa put Draco down too.

“How often does that happen?” Narcissa was thoroughly amused by the floating baby. A light smile planted on her delicate features.

“At least 6 times a week, She love’s it and I have no idea how she figured out how to do it.” He looks to his daughter, exasperated but with the smallest smile.

“Well I mean it when I say, her and Draco growing up together will be good for them; especially since neither of them have any siblings.” She smiles sadly at the children, “Gosh she really does look like Bella.”
