Chapter 4
Sirius woke up the next morning quite early, he had to go and tell Minnie about his time with Remus. He got dressed and went to his professor's office. He heard inaudible muttering on the other side of the door. He knocked on and opened the door to find his cousin, Andromeda, sat talking with Minne. “Yeah, I should tell him but it’s getting the right time. Thank you for not telling him. I know that must be quite the task, with him being so inquisitive and spending most of his time with you.” Minnie was talking with Andromeda. Hello there, Sirius. You look awfully cheery?” Andromeda teased the boy, knowing he had spent time with Remus. She had been sitting by the opposite side of the Black Lake after all, trying to figure out what to do about her crush on her best friend. He suddenly blushed bright red. “Oh uh, just hung out with a friend yesterday.” Sirius said, trying not to blurt out to his role model that he had a boyfriend. “Sirius, you are aware that other people sit by the Black Lake, yeah?” Andromeda teased him. “You saw..?” Sirius asked, hanging his head and scratching the back of his neck. “Yes, I saw Sirius. I’m not going to tell anyone, just be careful. You know what Bella and Cissa are like. They will tell Walburga.” Andromeda engulfed the boy in a tight hug. “Wait, what happened?” Minnie spoke up, seriously confused by what the heck was going on. “Oh yeah, I caught him snogging some guy in his year last night at about 9.” Andromeda blurted out. “ANDY!” Sirius said as he playfully hit her. “You can not be serious. Sirius, did you really kiss him???” Minnie asked, slightly concerned. “A) I’m always Sirius, B) Yah and he kissed back! I know I probably shouldn’t have but he caught me staring at his lips.. And he said that he’s liked me for a while too and I really really like him, Minnie.” Sirius explained to his safe person. “Well, you two are more like your relatives than you think, aren't you?” Minnie said, chuckling to herself. “What do you mean by both of us?” Sirius asked. “And what the hell are you on about more like our relatives??” Andromeda added on. “Well, first of all, Lyall Lupin and your uncle, Alphard had a thing going on whilst they were at school together and so did Orion and Fleamont.” Minnie said, immersing herself into the playful memories of catching the two couples making out her and Poppy’s broom closet, watching them fall in love over the years, the heartbreak when neither pair could stay together. “Fucking hell, I didn’t know dad was gay???” Sirius screamed in horror of the thought of his father having the same feelings he did for a guy. “Oh of course he’s gay Sirius. He is the gayest man I’ve ever laid my eyes on. He literally colour coordinates his waistcoats to whatever tie he is wearing.” Andromeda made it out like she knew, which she probably did, she was wise like that. “Let’s talk more about why she said the two of us, Andromeda. Hm?” Sirius quizzed his cousin, who was more like his sister. “Merlin, you come out of your shell around your cousin, don’t you Mr Black?” Minnie spoke up. “Oh uh, sorry Professor.” Sirius put on his metaphorical mask and pretended to be the small, insecure boy she had seen him as. “Hey siri, it’s ok, you’re safe, it’s just me and Minnie hey, yeah? You’re safe kid.” Andromeda said as she held the boy. “Sirius, I didn’t mean it in a bad way. I like seeing this side of you. There is something me and Andromeda need to tell you and you need to be a grown up about it, yeah?” Minnie said trying to be comforting as she had never ever upset the boy herself, it was usually her calming him down after someone, usually that stupid brat Snivilous had upset him. “What is it? Is it to do with Remus?” Sirius sounded panicked. “No sweetie, nothing to do with your Remus.” Andromeda sat him on a desk and knelt down to talk to him. “So you know how you are very very different from the rest of the family?” Andromeda said just before a fearful nod from Sirius. “Well, that’s because you aren’t a Black by blood. You’re Minnie’s son. Minnie had to give you away because she wasn’t stable enough to look after you. She had just escaped an abusive relationship with your blood father and had nothing. Poppy helped deliver you and she wanted to raise you with Minnie but there was just no way. We are telling you now because there is a chance if you move in with them if you want to move in this year but after this summer Walburga won’t allow Minnie custody.” Andromeda explained. “I want to move in. I know I should take time to think about it but I don’t need time. I need to get out. I can’t take one more crucio Andy, I can’t. I’m not as strong as you, Bella and Cissa but I can’t leave Regulus.” Sirius started to cry and got worked up. Andromeda knew she wasn’t the right person to comfort him so let his mum take over from her. “Sirius, honey, I know you feel like you can’t leave him but sometimes we have to think of ourselves. I can't do anything about your brother except be here for him when he needs someone, yeah?” Minnie explained as she held her son. Suddenly, the door to the office burst open with a happy, joyful Remus seeing his three favourite people all in the same room. Although he did wish Sirius wasn’t present at this moment. He noticed Sirius crying and immediately went to hug him. “Siri, love, what’s wrong?” Remus worried that something happened last night that upset him. “Minnie, can I tell him?” Sirius managed through his tears. Minnie nodded and Sirius held Remus’ hands and explained how Minnie was his real mum and how he was going to live with her and how he could have Remus over for sleepovers in the holidays. “Sirius Orion McGonnagal, I love you.” Remus said to his boyfriend. “Wait one second, you’re dating my tutee??? That is a new level, Sirius. AND YOU, you didn't tell me you liked my cousin who is basically my brother???” Andromeda freaked out as Remus kissed Sirius’ forehead. “Oh, I’m sorry Andy. Yeah, I’ve known I liked him since the day you started tutoring me, when he was sitting with you in the library.” Remus admitted. “Just don’t break his heart Lupin.” Andromeda warned Remus. Remus nodded in agreement and held his now relieved boyfriend. “I love you too Remus John Lupin.” Sirius finally responded as he nuzzled into Remus’ neck. “Ugh you two make me feel single.” Minnie and Andromeda say at the same time as they leave the office to get breakfast.
