The Ghost Prank.

Evan and Barty love pranking people. Especially people who do ghost tours. Tonight, it just happened to be some YouTubers looking for content.

Barty knew exactly what to do.

Once they finished the tour of the house, and adding a few details that may or may not have happened, Evan and Barty ran to their car.

It was in the forest, surrounded by the trees. If they were honest, it was the perfect place to makeout. Tonight, however, they were not going to makeout in the car.

They got dressed in all black and made their way back to the house, they were careful not to use the front doors or the windows.

The last time they tried the windows, they managed to get into trouble by the owners. Barty threw a rock and it hit the windows, which smashed into people who were sitting underneath them. It was not a fun fine to pay.

The backdoor was strategically left unlocked. Evan slipped in quietly while they were in the seance room. The reason they recommend going to the seance room first is not so that they can get used to the feeling of the house, but because it was the furthest room from the backdoor. It meant that they could get in much more efficiently.

Evan went upstairs, making as much stomping as he could. While Barty went down to the basement, where he could set up some things.

The plan was simple, scare the group as much as they could. Which proved to be pretty easy when James had screamed at the footsteps that Evan had done.

The knock at the door was not expected. Evan froze. If they had brought a medium, this wouldn’t be as fun. Actually, maybe they’ll play along. Some of them do.

Evan waited for them to get upstairs, since they had said that they planned to do the basement last. It felt like a long time in the dark. He knew that the spirits approved of him making these guests terrified since he had never been injured here.

Except since the incident.

Evan waited in his little corner for the group to make their way up the steps. When he heard their footsteps, he stood at the top of the steps. He looked down the stairs but there was nobody there, nothing. The complete darkness just dawned on Evan.

He shook his head, smiling, then returned to his spot. The next time the footsteps came, he stood at the top of the stairs, and this time there were people. Good.

They stared at him. He tried not to laugh. He was so happy his face was covered. When he saw that someone was picking up a flashlight, he quickly and quietly dodged the light.

He heard them walk in the opposite direction to him and into the bedroom. He breathed a sigh of relief and then made his way down the stairs, avoiding all the creaks he’s come to learn.

He met Barty at the bottom of the stairs. Evan nodded and pointed to the middle room upstairs. Barty understood and walked up the stairs.

He walked slowly and stepped on the creaks often. Once he made it up the stairs, he walked to the room and stood in the doorway. It was lucky that they were so preoccupied that they didn’t hear Barty trip on a bit of rug. Evan winced from the bottom of the stairs.

The music box went off. And luckily the REM pod they had set up was close enough to the door that Barty could reach with his foot to make it activate.

When a dude from the group stood up to fix the devices, Barty stood with his back on the wall, where they shouldn’t see him. When the guy sat back down again, he left and took the same path that Evan had, avoiding all the creaks and walking as silently as he could.

Once Barty and Evan had reunited, they went to the basement. Barty was on lookout at the top of the basement. When they were going to leave, he was going to knock on the walls three times and they had to be even and slow.

Evan had poised some things so that they could fall and scare them, and once he heard the knocks, he made his way back to Barty.

They hid behind some furniture as two people went down the stairs and out into the night. Barty and Evan watched them carefully. First they shared a cigarette and they were talking together. Then they started kissing. Just out in the open. They really got into it too. Barty turned to Evan and made kissy lips and Evan rolled his eyes, but a small smile graced his lips. Barty feigned being sad and Evan kissed his cheek.

“Oh my god, do you think they’ll stop anytime soon? I bet their friends are coming down at any moment.” Barty whispered to Evan, who immediately held a finger to his lips.

Not even a moment later, the rest of their group came down the stairs and joined them outside. Evan held his breath.

Barty and Evan watched them come back inside. They haven’t been discovered yet. So hopefully this isn’t the time where they are discovered.

The group finally made it down the stairs, and they left the door open. Evan looks at Barty and nods. Barty smiles and begins to walk all over the floor very loudly.

Evan watches down the basement, in case one of them begins to walk up the steps. He accidentally moves the door with his hand and it creaks. Evan flinches and Barty stops walking. They both hide in the nearest spot and wait.

From the basement, they can hear a scream. And lots of yelling. Evan looks at Barty who’s also trying to hold in a laugh. They hear footsteps from the basement and the same guy who was making out outside looks out into the room they are hidden in. Lucky for them, he doesn’t have a flashlight.

They both breathe a sigh of relief when he walks back down the steps.

Barty signals to Evan and they both escape the house, through the front door, since it was closer than the backdoor.

As they were leaving, the group climbed the steps again and they came back into the room that Evan and Barty were in. Evan shot Barty a warning glance and they hid as quickly as possible.

Evan watched the group. The one girl they had had spotted Barty. Fuck. Luckily the other group members were screaming at each other. It lent Evan a cover of noises, he gestured with his fingers that it was plan 4. Get out while one stays.

“I saw something move over there. I don’t know what it was. It certainly wasn’t a spirit.” She said seriously.

“Oh,” was all Remus said.

Evan made it out of the house just fine, once the group left the house, Barty had to run to the backdoor and get to the forest before anyone noticed.

Lucky for them, nobody did.

They laughed so hard in the car.

They changed back into their tour guide clothing and ran to greet the group who were waiting.

“Evan. That was such a close call. I don’t know how we managed that.” Barty said as they walked together.

“Maybe because the group were idiots?” Evan replied.

Barty laughed and stopped walking. He looked at Evan, who had also stopped when Barty stopped. “Can I just say, you make me really happy. I’d really like to kiss you properly this time.”

“No socks?” Evan asked, grinning.

“No socks.” Barty said and kissed Evan on the lips. Evan tangled his hands in Barty’s hair and they kissed like the world was ending.
