Come with us?

Mary let out a long dramatic sigh, falling onto her bed. "I have absolutely nothing to wear!" She lazily turned her head to face Marlene, who was busy changing her septum piercing.

"You always say that! You have tons to wear." Marlene mumbled, not really paying attention to Mary's antics.

Mary brushed her off with a wave of her hand, before eagerly jumping up and running to her trunk. "Nevermind! I have the best idea!" She grinned.

Around five minutes later, She sat on the end of her bed, waiting for her best friend as she seemed to be spending more time than usual on her looks. Marlene began rooting through her clothes for different options, even though she had already decided on the outfit she was wearing.

Mary raised an eyebrow and smirked, leaning her head against a bed post. "Who are you trying to impress? It's just us and the girls." She teased.

"Nobody!" Marlene retorted with a slight attitude, making the dark haired girl furrow her eyebrows.

"Marls... you okay?"

"Yeah, I'm fine, sorry. I'm just a bit stressed."  She brought her hands up to her face, sighing.

Mary gave her a sympathetic smile. "Well I think the outfit you have on is perfect." She said.

Marlene nodded, beginning to brush and fix her hair, seemingly calm before she suddenly threw her hairbrush on the floor. "Fuck it! I'm not going!" She flopped on her bed, burying her face in her pillow.

"Marls?"

"Nothings going right! I look terrible!" She groaned.

Mary slowly walked over towards Marlene's bed, laying down next to her and throwing an arm over her waist. "I don't know what's actually wrong, and you don't have to tell me, but I think you look gorgeous. Besides, we're only going to the astronomy tower with the girls, It's not like we HAVE to look nice, it's just for fun." She spoke gently.

"I know, you're right. Thank you Mary." She rolled over to face her best friend, kissing her on the cheek.

"You ready to go then?"

"Fineee." Marlene jokingly rolled her eyes. The girls grabbed their stuff and headed down to the common room.

As they reached the common room, however, they saw a very bored looking Lily Evans and Alice Fortescue sat on the sofas.

The girls silently turned to each other, Marlene raising an eyebrow and Mary biting her lip in thought.

"I feel bad for them." Mary whispered. "They don't really do much."

"Maybe they like it that way?"

"Yeah but me and Lily were speaking about it, and I don't think she actually does, I don't know about Alice though."

"Huh, when did you speak about it?"

"When we had detention together."

"Ooooh right I forgot about that..." Marlene trailed off. "So... what are we going to do then?"

"Should we ask if they want to come with us?"

Marlene raised her eyebrows. "Do you really think they'd want to? I mean... they don't really seem like the... smoking type?" She looked over to them.

"Still... I feel like we should at least invite them. Lily's... not that bad."

Marlene raised an eyebrow, looking slightly disbelieving. "So this friends thing is really happening then?!"

"Yeah, I guess."

Marlene studied her best friends face for a moment. "...Go on then." She smiled.

Mary nodded, taking a moment, then walking down into the room.

"Hi Lily, Alice." She smiled at them, her eyes flitting more to the redhead.

"O-Oh! Hello, Mary." Lily stuttered back, her lips parted in shock.

Alice tilted her head at her best friends reaction for a moment, furrowing her eyebrows in confusion, before turning to Mary with a smile. "Hey, Macdonald."

Mary turned to face Alice, her eyes unconsciously lingering on Lily's face for a while longer. "What are you two up to? Are you busy?"

Lily simply stared up at Mary, seemingly not over the shock that they were actually getting along. The redhead opened her mouth to speak, but no sound came out. They all stared at Lily for a moment, before Alice decided to jump in for her. "Uhh- no, we were actually just talking about how we were getting quite bored, why's that?"

"Well, me and Marlene are about to head up to the astronomy tower to meet Emmeline and Dorcas, and if you're not doing anything...would you like to come?"

Both girls eyebrows raised, then they turned to face one another, silently asking if one another if they wanted to go. Lily debated it in her head for a moment, then slowly nodded, her eyes wide, Mary giggled in amusement, as Alice responded for the both of them. "Sure then, we'll just gather our things."

Mary smiled and nodded, Marlene walking over and looping her arm around hers. "That was sweet of you, Mares."

Mary simply giggled in response, as Lily and Alice walked over with their bags.

The girls began walking to the astronomy tower, mindlessly chatting, passing a few other students on their way, it being a friday night, people were out far later than usual.

Lily and Alice trailed behind slightly, Alice grinning excitedly. Not that she would ever admit it, because of Lily and Mary's long term hatred for one another, but she had always held a slight admiration for the girls. Alice, although extremely outgoing within her own circle of friends, had never been very popular. She'd never had an issue defending her best friend, and she did dislike Mary when they weren't getting along, but she had always wished she was as extroverted as her and her friend group, so she was secretly thrilled to be spending time with them.

All of a sudden, the sound of a wolf whistle rang out from down the hallway. There, sitting on a flight of stairs, an empty bottle of fire whiskey beside them, was Joseph Avery, William Mulciber, and Atticus Bulstrode. "Looking good girls!"

The three pureblood boys were quite infamous around school for being complete arseholes, which had been proved by Mary's recent run in with Joseph. They were raging blood supremacists, and they let that be known to everybody they could. What was odd about the sight of them, however, was that Severus snape sat right there with them.

What was even weirder, still, was the fixated glare that Mulciber was aiming at Mary, a boy who was largely known for his insane anger issues. He sat there, completely emotionless, staring the girl down. Truthfully, the boy was particularly terrifying. His reputation was easily the worst out of the group. It was surprising that he had not yet been expelled with some of the things he'd said to people. Not to mention the fact that they were all allegedly death eaters, not including Snape, but if he was associating with this group now, it wouldn't be long.

Williams eyes were dark as he stared daggers at her, unmoving. He looked as though he were a statue, not even a hint of movement from him, Mary shudders, but tried to cover it up.

Marlene, already angered at Joseph for what Mary had told her the other day, responded harshly. "Get to fuck, Avery!"

"No, McKinnon, I don't think I will." Tilting his head, a mocking smirk grew on his face.

Bulstrode laughed along with his friend. Severus, however, looked particularly conflicted, hesitating for a moment when he noticed Lily, but he then began laughing as well. Mulciber remained emotionless.

Mary furrowed her eyebrows indignantly. "Prick!"

Joseph turned his attention to the dark haired girl. "You do talk a lot, don't you Macdonald? Such a big mouth." He shook his head in mock disapproval.

Atticus chimes in now, smirking. "I wonder what else that mouth does."

"Ah, now that would be a sure-fire way of getting her to shut up!" Joseph responds, Atticus began laughing as though he'd just said the most hilarious thing known to man, though Snape still looked slightly apprehensive.

"You're a sexist piece of shit, Avery!" Mary bit, storming off down the hallway towards the astronomy tower, Mulciber's threatening eyes watching her go.

Marlene takes her turn to chip in. "There's a reason these are your only friends. Fuck you, fuck all of you, worthless twats!" The blonde took the other girls arms protectively, trailing after Mary.

Alice, suddenly emboldened by the other girls, shouted down the hallway. "And you're all bloody ugly!"

Marlene's jaw dropped at this display, laughing. "Go on, Alice!" she held up a hand for the brunette, as Alice high-fived her.

Lily, however, felt completely numb, her face drawn into a disturbed expression, chills running up her spine. She couldn't pay attention to what the other girls were saying, her mind running at a million miles per hour.

Why was Severus hanging out with them?

Is he friends with them now?

Do I have more reason to be worried about the amortentia thing?

How could he laugh with them?

Marlene quickly ran on to check on her best friend, and Alice noticed Lily's torment. The brunette reached over, taking the redheads hand and giving it a comforting squeeze, whispering comfortingly to her. "He isn't worth it, Lils. Forget about him for tonight, lets just have fun, yeah?"

Lily took a deep breath, giving her friend a tight lipped smile and nodding. "Yeah... yeah, okay."

They approached Mary and Marlene, who were busy hugging, Marlene kissed her best friends cheek, the blonde whispering to her. "Calm down, its okay."

An ugly feeling ran through Lily when she saw them like that.

Mary shook her arms, as though she was getting herself ready for something, and turned to the other girls.

"Right then, let's go have fun."
